The grounds are beautiful. The pool area is so lovely with all the palm trees. Nice pool bar and seating. We stayed in one of the historic rooms. It was large and beautiful with old tiles. The breakfast buffet was plentiful. Staff were good.

A beautiful old building, very well maintained both structurally and externally. Excellent location, with a lovely and pleasant pool and garden area. The hotel urgently needs renovation of the rooms and furnishings. Currently, it falls short of being a 5-star hotel. With modernization and improvements, it will surely regain that rating.

This is a beautiful colonial hotel! Stayed 2 nights and enjoyed my stay. Beautiful grounds and atmosphere! Comfortable bed and the A/C worked very well, important on the Colombian coast! The staff are excellent and you are always greeted with a smile. The breakfast too was superb with a wide variety. There is also good safe parking. The only thing I would say is that the hotel is almost 100 years old and could use some love in a few areas. The shower had some chipped tiles on the floor and the pool is great but again had missing tiles on the pool floor. However I will certainly return to Barranquilla and stay at El Prado again! Thanks for a nice stay!

The room was… fine. Not offensive, just uninspired — sparse furniture, little character, and none of the polish you’d expect at this price point. Service felt reactive rather than attentive. And the poolside food? Cold, forgettable, and wildly out of sync with the hotel’s self-image.
My overall impression is that this place peaked about 20 years ago and is now relying on cosmetic updates to preserve the illusion. Unfortunately, hospitality isn’t about makeup — it’s about execution. And execution was lacking.
I’ll be back for Carnaval in 2027. Just not here.

The staff is amazing. The housekeeping was on top of it. Remember this hotel was built 99 years ago. It has that old hotel charm. Some things need to be overlooked to enjoy it. The pool is amazing. Hotel El Prado is the best! You are crazy to stay anywhere else in Barranquilla! I travel all the time. I know what I am talking about. Classy, historic, great food, awesome beds and pillows and bedding. Go stay for 2 nights. It is the best mini vacation you can have and super affordable. The only complaint is that the food and drink service at the pool can be very slow.

From the moment we arrived, we were impressed by the cleanliness of our room and the overall ambiance of the hotel. The staff was friendly and always ready to assist with a smile. 👍 The breakfast spread was delightful, offering a variety of options.
However, I would like to bring to concern we encountered during our visit. We had requested room service to bring ice to our room, but unfortunately, it never arrived. While we understand that oversights can happen, it was a bit disappointing, especially since the staff had come to our room shortly before to secure our signature for a consumption at the bar.

This hotel is very historical and very much for me. My great grandfather managed it as part of the original intercontinental group back in the 50’s. So I was excited to go and see it. The hotel is beautiful and the pool outstanding. The staff including front desk and cleaning crew were not very responsive or helpful. The overall condition of the hotel was bad. The airconditioning in our room was cold but also super humid. The system was not working right. The food at the poolside was not good we tried it once. The breakfast was very good and tasty we ate it every day. Overall my experience was good but not memorable.

This was a beautiful hotel that needs some work on the rooms. Our room was spacious but it wreaked of mildew. I had to wash all our clothes when we got home. There were chips on the bathroom door jam. The water pressure in the shower was very low, and in a handicapped bathroom there should be a handheld shower head.

Property is beautiful, pool is great but the staff is horrible. We asked for more towels, clean our rooms etc. nothing happened. Took 45 min to ck in. I have an emotional support prescription they charged me to have my dog then gave me the money back when I asked for the manager to ck the prescription again. Service is bad and slow.

Many restaurants are within walking distance. I tried the Capital and Pescaye. The first is mostly burgers with some other options and the second is a fish house with some pretty good fish.
In all I would not hesitate to stay here again.
The restaurant is nothing to brag about and a bit expensive, not great value.
The pool is great for swimming laps but not so good for small children as it’s pretty deep with most a ‘meter or more.
The staff treated us well and no complaints.

The description for the room types does not mention that some rooms are located in a section of the hotel that is isolated from the main building. The hallways on that section do not have A/C, and are dark/depressing. Reaching that part of the hotel requires using stairs. People with mobility problems or senior citizens might find using the stairs challenging. That information is not disclosed in the room description.

We booked this hotel for 2 nights thinking it’s peaceful and clean. However, they are renting their venue for weddings and this weekend they had 3 weddings and some other party going on. The music was blasting until 3 in the am and I had to get up at 5am for my medical treatment. The cleanness is lacking big time, it’s an old place; at the reception they don’t have anything only one chair to sit, no water to drink nothing. The power goes on and off. The staff try their best, they are always asking if you need anything, nice people; however the management seem like they couldn’t care less. It’s overpriced for the facility it offered, we paid $90 a night, it’s absolutely not worth it. I have made complaints about the noise but again they can’t do anything. Unpleasant experience and I’m moving out to another hotel right now:(
