Hotel Cetus was unlike any hotel I've ever stayed at. First, when you arrive you'll realize that you can't even see a hotel. It's all below on the cliff! All you see from the road is a tiny parking lot and an elevator shaft.
Because the hotel is built into the cliff and overlooks the sea, the views are incredible! All the service staff from the reception to housekeeping to the restaurants are 5 star plus.
You'll quickly realize that everything on the Amalfi Coast is pricey and it's very challenging to drive around. And don't even think about walking from the hotel - dangerous! I highly recommend trying their on-site restaurant for dinner. The restaurant has fantastic food and outstanding service. You'll get a lot for your money. The hotel has it's own beach, offers an amazing full breakfast with everything you can think of, and has a beach restaurant.
The only drawback to Hotel Cetus is also it's advantage, it's not within walking distance of a town or near anything so you have to brave the extreme traffic to get anywhere. The plus side is after you've been out you're SO HAPPY to be back to some place quiet and away from the crowds!

Words cannot describe how much we enjoyed our stay at Hotel Cetus. The hotel is stunning with gorgeous views of the Amalfi Coast- it was breathtaking. The room was comfortable and clean. Every meal we had, breakfast especially, was delicious. Every staff member was so kind, extremely professional and always exceptional service. Cetara is a perfect seaside town with none of the crowds of other large towns along the coast. The food was delicious and people were so kind. I already cannot wait to go back!

The only caution is the lack of shuttle throughout the day to Cetera for lunch/dinner or ferry access. Paid drivers at $3 per person added up for a multi-day stay.

This was a phenomenal stay. You can walk to the town of Cetara to eat, or hop on the ferry to anywhere else in Amalfi. There is a beautiful private beach and the staff was extremely accommodating. It’s close to everything but without the business of the city. Highly recommend.

This hotel was an incredible find on the Amalfi coast. Far away from the usual tourist areas yet close enough to an authentic Italian village. The hotel was in an incredible location on the side of a mountain overlooking the sea. The staff was friendly and helpful. The whole hotel restaurant was incredible. Highly recommended.

Hotel Cetus was very nice. Room with water view was spacious. The flushing mechanism was a bit wonky, and the floor got a bit dirty.
Otherwise, it was comfortable and the service was excellent.
Resturant staff was very good and the barman Danielo was fantastic. He was helpful and generous and a delight!
Resturant dinner was excellent; each fish perfectly prepared. The deserts were a step above. Best, most creative tiramisu I’ve ever eaten!

Cons, not many food options for lunch and dinner at the hotel, and not there aren't many good restaurants near by. If you have a car or bike and can travel easily to other town for food, entertainment and activities then its ok.

This property was absolutely lovely. Our room had a wonderful terrace with a gorgeous view of the sea. The private beach and restaurant were such an amazing luxury. We could easily walk or take the shuttle into town. From town we dined at Michelin rated restaurants in the evening. Also from town we took the ferry to various cities along the Amalfi coast. The staff at Hotel Cetus were extremely helpful and courteous. I highly recommend this hotel!

Tranquil, amazing location

Amalfi is amazing, but most people already know that. This hotel, and Cetara in general, are fantastic for people who want to be on Amalfi, but have a more tranquil experience with less crowds.
The negative is less convenient options to restaurants and shops. Cetara is terrific little town a short, but somewhat adventurous, walk away.
I would absolutely recommend the hotel based on the location, staff, cleanliness and size of rooms, the hotel restaurant, and hotel beach.

Not recommended it. The hotel was ok . the staff was not friendly at all. Check in no one offered to help with luggage . I understand this hotel is not 5 stars but at least be a bit friendly and smile to the people would be nice.Hard to get around from the location. The dining options is limited. When we first arrived the restaurant was close for private events for the whole weekend, play loud music. In the room you can hear footsteps and the door closed and open the balcony not private walk out you will see the the next door neighbor in underwear or smoking all the time could not enjoy the balcony because you know that European they are smoke all the time and everywhere! The only nice thing is the private beach that they have . Would not Go Back to stay there .

We were here for 2 nights. Had ended our Italy trip late April/early May here and couldn’t have been more happier!
It is expensive taking a taxi in and out of Salerno but walking to the nearby town/beach was fine!
The property is beautiful and everyone was great! The morning breakfast was WONDERFUL!!! Mimosas… I highly recommend this location of views and service! We had a terrace room. Well worth it!

We enjoyed our stay here. It is much quieter than Positano and Amalfi. This can be a positive or negative, depending on what you are looking for. There is a ferry you can take to several different towns. It is a 5-10 minute walk to get to the ferry, along the side of the road (no sidewalk). The hotel offers a shuttle service, which is great, however it is not always available when you need it, so don’t count on this service.
We had great views of the sea, and the room was spacious and comfortable. There is a small private beach, but you will need flip flops or other footwear to walk on the pebbles. The connected restaurant is nice, great food. We walked into Cetara town one evening, and there are several restaurants to choose from. Since it’s a fishing village, the emphasis is on fish/seafood. We used a tour guide service that had been recommended by the hotel. This was awesome. The owner of the company went above and beyond to create personalized unique experiences for us. The company is Mandato Consulting. I cannot recommend them enough for enhancing your trip to the Amalfi Coast. Call Alba and she will ensure you have a wonderful time.

Such a disappointment

We came to the coast for some quiet and relaxation and we instead find ourselves at a hotel with a very loud wedding going on just above our heads late into the evening. We had to close our patio door to keep the sound out and get to sleep. we went to the front desk and received no help or compensation and barely an apology. We spent a lot of money to come here and it was a total waste. Additionally their lunch/bar options are abysmal and the beds were like rocks. We were so excited to come here and it was such a disappointment

The property is well located as it’s not a busy area, easy to eat at restaurants around but the hotel has the top rated restaurant. We went for dinner and it was excellent! The breakfast at the hotel is exceptional, so many options and the service is so good! The beach is great as well. There are comfortable chairs with umbrellas. You can have drinks and lunch there as well. The water is nice and calm, it too lane waves, great for swimming. Bring your goggles to see the small fish. The room has an amazing balcony overseeing the ocean and Salerno. The room is nice but small. You can tell the hotel is a little older as the walls need a little work but it’s very clean. There is also a spa at the hotel with a nice big hot tub overlooking the ocean, so nice and great temperature, not too hot. There is also a steam room. The gym is very small, no free weights. As for noise in the room, it’s usually quiet but if one guest over you drags a chair, you will hear it! The hotel should invest in putting something under the legs of chairs like they do in the restaurant. Some people are so inconsiderate and don’t thing how they are bothering people in the rooms under them! All in all this is a wonderful hotel with very good staff, we would go back! Dolly who works in the restaurant and beach, is amazing!

While keeping in mind that Amalfi Coast is a bit over-rated due to a flooding number of tourists , I would like to say that Hotel Cetus is ideal when it comes to value of money. Very friend staff , spacious rooms decorated with the local traditions. Breakfast with good amount of options. Private beach (don’t look for sand, it doesn’t exist). Big thank you to Elena in reception team, Erico the manager who took special care of us for our honeymoon and big thank you to all the other amazing staff with their smiles.

This property is absolutely beautiful. It took our breath away every time we walked in and out of the property. Our room was so cute and lovely. The breakfast buffet is so delicious, I think I’ll miss it the most. The restaurant is lovely as well and the staff there are so patient and kind. The front desk, Elena is the best and she helped so much.

I loved Hotel Cetara and the town, Cetus. It’s located on the Amalfi Coast and the location is just to die for. We would definitely stay here again. 10/10 recommend.

Overall hotel is pretty with very good breackfast and pretty private beach. Beds are crazy uncomfortable with very bad pillows, so uncomfortable that it was very hard to sleep or relax. The hotel located about 5 min walk from the Cetara. U have to walk down the narrow road, would be scary with kids. I would not return to that hotel because of the beds and pillows. I usually dont pay a lot of attention to a hotel rooms but i need to have a comfortable bed.

This hotel is a gem!! The private beach access alone makes it a must stay! The food by the beach is great and the beach chairs and easy water access means you can stay out there all day. Bring your water shoes because the small rocks when you're getting in and out are a little rough. The hotel is right at the beginning of the Amalfi Coast and although you can drive from there to the most popular destinations on the coast, there is no need to because you are a 8 minute walk to the town of Cetara which is an embarkation point for all of the water ferry's that affordably take you to any of the destination cities on the coast you might want to visit. The hotel is very well run and the breakfast every morning is TOP notch!!! The only thing we weren't impressed with is the main dining restaurant which during our stay was a lot of pomp, and low on taste and options. Overall everything tied to the hotel (not the main dinner restaurant) was FIRST RATE and gets my highest rating for a must stay on the Amalfi Coast!

It was a pleasant stay. Staff was nice and room was comfortable. I didn’t like the no shower curtain. I tried not to get water all over the floor which made showering awkward. I would stay again though! The views were amazing!
