Juan at the front desk was very kind and helpful. The hotel is walking distance from colosseum. The building itself is old and no working elevator. You will need to go up 3 flights of stairs. Keep this in mind if you have luggage.

Room was clean but smelled really strongly of bleach so we had to air it out for a few hours before we could be in there. Beds were uncomfortable especially if you have hip or shoulder issues. Location was great and staff was nice! The continental self serve breakfast was perfect. Elevator was broken which appears to be the case often so don’t stay here with someone who can’t do stairs. Toilet was really difficult to flush but no biggie in the end.

Excellent host! Clear instructions for late check in. Good location. Enjoyed the self-serve breakfast. Spacious room that included bunk beds for the kids, effective air conditioning, nice bathroom with large shower and bidet. Will stay here on our next visit. Grazie!

2 nights at Re Monti

We stayed 2 nights at Re Monti Guesthouse. We enjoyed the location and the air conditioning was cold which was much appreciated in the July heat. The room had what we needed, the beds were okay, the pillows were quite flat and only one for each of us. The front door to get into the guesthouse was a tight fit, we are not small people and we had to squeeze our way in and out each time. We didn’t see a way to open the other half of the door and it wasn’t offered when we checked in and he saw me having trouble getting in and out. The bathroom is also small but we made it work, just something to keep in mind. The location was close to multiple cafes and gelato. The 2nd morning we did enjoy the breakfast. Overall we enjoyed our stay.

The hotel is on the second floor. There is a tiny elevator but it wasn’t working when we went, so just keep that in mind if that affects your party.

Re Monti Guesthouse exceeded our expectations! The staff was professional & helpful. The communication with staff was great especially since they spoke English. It made our stay a lot easier! The room was clean, large & comfortable. The beds, linens, and towels were good quality and made our stay comfortable. The location was amazing! We could walk to the Colosseum within 15 minutes. There were many amazing restaurants within a 10 minute walk. Our favorite Gelateria was just down the street and there were many souvenir & mini-marts within a 5 minute walk. The train station was within a 15 minute walk. The daily breakfast was delicious & filling. We had a wonderful stay at Re Monti Guesthouse and highly recommend them when in Rome!

Overpriced family “suite”

Check in was smooth and easy and friendly. Arrived to our room and we were immediately disappointed. Very small room. Towels are cheap and thin. Soap is in sachets. Bunk beds creaked. Breakfast was so bad we went to a cafe down the street. We were supposed to stay 3 nights, but they thankfully let us change our stay to 1 night and we found a place nearby that was 1000x better.

Perfect room for a group.

The place was very well located, easy to move to historic locations. The room was very clean and confortable. The sheets were not very pleasant but that is very personal in what each one likes. Our biggest problem was the air conditioning, it didn't cool enough. Overall, it was an excellent place to stay, I would stay again if I traveled to Rome again.

Inn is conviently located near bus and train stations ( 10 minute walk ). The location was excellent, was within walking distance of many attractions. Roberta provided several excellent recommendations in regards to sights and places to eat. Roberta was fabulous as she treats her guests like family. Great breakfast and i would highly recommend staying here.

We left after 1 night, waste of money

The morning we were heading to the hotel I emailed them hotel to let them know our time of arrival (30-60min window). When we arrived no one answered the doorbell. We waited outside until someone walked out of the door and we let ourselves in. We climbed the stairs to get to the floor the hotel is on and no one answered the door. I finally got my cellphone to work and found the number for the hotel. They told us they would be there in 10min. The lady walks in, says something to us and let’s us into our room. We walked into an approximate 10x10ft basic, outdated room with a very hard bed. I pull back the curtain to reveal what only could be described as a view of a closet with a water heater and construction material. I walked into the bathroom to find 2 “towels” that get like something you’d get in a hospital extremely cheap and thin. When I finally got on the WiFi I saw a message from the hotel asking me to message them when we got to the train station, but we didn’t go to the train station and I didn’t have WiFi until we got to the hotel in the time frame I gave them. For the first time in my life I decided to eat the money we paid for the room and find something else. We relied on reviews we read and assumed it would be great, but we were severely disappointed. The ONLY good thing about this hotel was the location. We found a real hotel around the corner thay was 10000x’s better. Even the BATHROOM had a better view.

This was in the perfect location to view Rome's best sightseeing attractions. Less than a ten minute walk to the Colossuem and Forum. The breakfast was very good and the breakfast room was quirky and welcoming, the bedroom was ok, and bed was comfortable. Some reviews have moaned about the noise facing the main street, but for us that made for part of the big city experience and you realise you are right in the centre of the hussle and bussle of Rome. We love this B&B and would definitely recommend it. One piece of advice would be to let Roberta know what time you are arriving, we didn't and had a little trouble getting access but thankfully this was all resolved due to helpful guest.

I couldn't contact the property in advance because I lost my phone. But, they had someone waiting at the reception desk even if it was slightly past their last check-in time of 8 pm. I did have some trouble in locating the Hotel as it is a bit inconspicuous. It is one the 3rd floor of a tall building on the main street and you will find 'Chocolat inn' written on one of the buzzers next to the front door that you need to press to be let in. But once I got in, the stay was pretty smooth. The guy at the reception gave me all the tips of where to eat and visit. Also, the breakfast in the morning is made fresh and was pretty yummy. They let me store my bag with them even after I checked out which was great. Overall, I had a great experience with the Hotel and I would definitely recommend it.

Disappointing - more like a 2*

I looked at the pictures and the rooms looked lovely. I got there and was so sorely disappointed. Cold, basic, broken, worn out room. The towels were like what you would wipe your hands on in a ladies public toilets. I am sure there is history behind how they got their name but there was nothing to hint at what it was. Chocolat or Chocolate - none was present - in the theme of the rooms, in the warmth of the room, in the availability of the staff, and alas, not even a chocolate bar. Disappointing with a capital D!!!

Positives? It was clean and in a good location. But was vastly overpriced for what they gave. Would not book again - not sure how they scored so high a score really - perhaps I got the only crappy room?!

Wonderful stay with Parents!

Roberta was wonderful and very accommodating! We had several flight changes and last minute airport changes and she sent drivers to both Rome airports to make sure we had someone waiting for us. She also helped us book advance tickets for the main attractions in Rome so we didn't have to wait in line for tickets - would definitely recommend! Saved us 2-3 hours of standing in the hott sun. I traveled with my parents for their first time in Europe and they enjoyed the experience as well. Breakfast was delicious and Maggy also made breakfast for us early on our last morning as we had to catch an early train. Beds/rooms were clean and comfortable and location was great! 5 minute walk to Colosseum and many major sights, and also to Roma Termini. We didn't have internet the last 2 days there due to technical issue but did not mind. Would definitely stay here again!

It was hard to climb stairs with the luggage and elevator was up on flight each was and didn't stop on the floor of the hotel. There was a very homey feeling to the hotel despite the fact that it was in a much larger building sharing space with other businesses. The breakfasts were to die for, fresh hot homemade pastries. It was close to the Metro stop and only 6 blocks from the main railroad station and close to restaurants.

The Chocolate Guest House is not only in an amazing location but more importantly it has an amazing hostess! Roberta made sure that anything we needed was readily available to us but if there was anything we needed we always had access to a personal number for her. We spent many of our mornings sitting and talking over a delicious breakfast and thoroughly enjoyed our stay there.

We enjoyed our stay. Breakfast was excellent!! Room is a good size, bed was awesome!! We slept very well in it! Rebecca and Miki are wonderful.
The only thing we were disappointed was that we did not have wifi signal in our room - we had to go to the kitchen. And our room was a bit noisy but we got used to it :-)

We enjoyed our stay at this guest house. The location was perfect in that so many things were within walking distance. The guest house itself is very charming as is the owner Roberta, a very lovely woman who was so helpful and endearing. The rooms were comfortable and clean, the atmosphere very pleasant. The free continental breakfast and free wifi made it perfect for our needs. Not a five star hotel obviously but certainly a great little place that made our vacation in Rome affordable.

This is a very pretty and charming boutique hotel/bed and breakfast. Roberta (the owner) is a gem of a person and took care of me like I was in her home for my 5 night trip. She makes you fresh Italian breakfast (pastries/croissants) every morning in her very French/rustic kitchen. The room I had was very big (room #2) and very clean. The room was cleaned daily by a wonderful and sweet young woman named Mickey. I felt like I was at home the whole trip because whenever I got back from a long day out walking I could come back and sit in the kitchen and make tea or coffee for myself and just relax. I feel like I have finally made friends in Italy and will definitely be staying here again on my next trip to Rome.

very good choice

location is quite good, near about 10 mins walk from train station. (and within 10 mins walk from another metro station). it is easily find. The hotel boss is very nice, she was a chef before and baked some breads and cake which was nice, she also recomanded some good restaurant. The room is clean and spacious. You can use the kitchen at night, which you can make some tea and re-heat something by microwave.

Top notch little inn/b & b. the inn was spotlessly clean my room was an inner room so no view but was quite large. Roberta could not have been more helpful. Make sure you ask her gor her restaurant recomendations. The inn is in a prime position just above the Roman Forum and Colosseuem. About a 5min walk from Rome Central Station with lots of Cafes and restaurants nearby. Truly value for money. A definate return to the inn when I return to Rome.

The best thing about Chocolat Inn was the location, which was central and within walking distance of the Colosseum and other sites. However, even for a B & B it was understaffed and since the solo staff member left around 4 pm everyday we dreaded the possibility of locking our single key in the room accidentally or any other eventuality of that nature. The breakfast was also only toast and pastries daily, which even for Continental breakfast is very limited. Wifi was only in common areas, not in room as advertised. It was okay for a very brief visit but I wouldn't recommend staying more than a couple of days.

We had a great time, the owner is very pleasant and her employee Christina was also great. They are fluent in English and full of good recommendations (transportation, visits, restaurants). We enjoyed all the restaurants they recommended. The room was very clean, the breakfast was nice and it was pleasant to sit around the kitchen table with other families (we managed to communicate even though they spoke italian and we spoke english). The hotel is nicely situated close to the train station and the Cavour metro station (line B), and many bus stops going to all tourist areas are at walkable distance. The only downside was that our bedroom windows were street-side and the noise insulation of one of the windows is really non-existent -- the street is quite noisy! I ended up buying earplugs so I could sleep. But the 3 other members of my family were not bothered by it and slept through easily. I would definitely come back if I am back in Rome with my family (armed with earplugs!).

Roberta and Christina were wonderful. We stayed there during our trip to Rome The place was in a great location for us. We had two kids with us and having a bunk bed was great for our older daughter. Roberta was kind enough to get us a crib for the baby and that helped her sleep better. The location was great with lots of restaurants near us, a laundry and grocery store right out the front door. Close to subway, lots of buses and walkable distance to pretty much everything. The only negative thing was that the toilet seat was broken for us. We didn't say anything though so I'm sure it would have been fixed. Lovely place for families or couples

Amazing little place for a great price

Roberta (owner) was so sweet and drew on a map all the to-go places and even some of her favorite restaurants. They served breakfast in the morning with yummy cappucinos, pastries, juice, etc. and were always super kind. Her restaurant recommendations were great! They have WiFi, it's very clean, and it's only about a 10 or 15 minute walk to the Colosseum/ancient runes. If you stay here you have to go to the Gilatto place just down & across the street (leaving the inn to the right) on the corner. DELICIOUS!

The only thing that I would say was annoying was lugging our suitcases there on the Roman roads! So if you can, I'd take a bus to the city from the airport, and then a taxi to the inn :)

My experience here was quite good. Roberta and Christina were very kind and welcoming, and they made me feel at home. The breakfast was not the best, but it was fresh and tasty. The bed was a bit hard, but still comfortable enough. This is not a hotel, so don't expect that kind of service or comfort. It is, however, one of the best B&B's that I have stayed at in Europe. I would stay there again.

She recommended not only very good and traditional restaurants which were close to the room, but also famous places. Moreover, the room was clean and closed to public transportation. A Good Location For Sightseeing

As I said in my title its great location for sightseeing as it is a only 10mins walk to the Colosseum. Rooms were clean, however our room was not available as it had a shower problem!!!! so we were given another room that had the toilet seat broken but was promised that it would be fixed that afternoon and that we are to move into the other room the next morning. Was the toilet seat fixed that afternoon NO. We could not moved that morning into the other room as it needed cleaning (Strange considering it was only a shower head). TV in room no English news or English Channels such as BBC world, so not used. Breakfast was OK no juice the second morning. The main road was very busy so lots of traffic noise. Overall very expensive for what was on offer in this hotel (Inn) but then again it appears to be the going rate. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED BE VERY CAREFUL WHERE YOU PURCHASE YOUR CAPPUCCINO. CHECK PRICE FIRST AS WE FOUND IT VARIES FROM 1 TO 7 EUROS. Overall you must visit Rome it was great though expensive.

Right in the midst of many wonderful sights. You can't beat Roberta and her lovely breakfast. This B&B is a must for someone on a budget and wanting to be in the heart of things. (No elevator, if you can't haul your over packed bags up and down the stairs, this is not a place for you! I will pack light next time)

Great location, good breakfast but ...

This is not really a hotel, it's a bed for the night. There are very few amenities and there was no-one on site late afternoon or early evening, although you were provided with a phone number in the event of a query.
When I checked in the owner was not there but someone else was. Unfortunately, they provided no explanation of the facilities and did not confirm the length of my stay.
The location is great, you are 15 mins walk from Termini and the Forum/ Colosseum, and 5 mins from the wonderful Basilica di Santa Maria Maggiore.
Breakfast was good although it didn't start until 8.30am. Although most of the attractions open at 9am I missed breakfast when I left early for Basilica di San Pietro/ Vatican.
There was no in-room safe, as advertised.
Wi-fi worked in my room although when I arrived the lady said she wasn’t sure if it does work in all rooms.
It is situated on a main road so you do hear traffic, but it wasn’t too noisy.
When the owner was there she was pleasant and was willing to delay my check out slightly so I could make the most of my final morning, and she was in any case happy to look after my bags if I had a later flight/ train.
This wasn’t what I wanted from a hotel, but if all you want is a bed for the night and a good location then this would probably be ok for a night or two.

We were very disappointed with our stay - we'd booked for two nights, but checked out after one and found another hotel that was more comfortable. This isn't a hotel by any means - this is bare lodging rooms at a b&b. There is no noticeable sign outside to tell you you are here, and there are no comforts whatsoever in the room. There is free WiFi, but it only works if you sit in reception area.

We were in room 2 - which was a decent size, but had no comforts or decorations. And the cleanliness left A LOT to be desired: for instance, the brown quilt and cushions on the bed had white stains on them that left nothing to the imagination (yuck, yuck, yuck), and there was a short curly hair in the bidet.

On the plus side: the location is very central, and the air conditioning is quiet and effective. Shower had good power, and breakfast was nice.

Stayed with family for three days.It is a small guest house and the room we had faced the main street.All night you could hear the loud traffic with the occasional emergency vehicle sirens. The aircon hardly cooled the room.Compared to other hotels the breakfast was average at best as far as variety was concerned.The TV was half hidden behind the bunk bed so difficult to watch. However the inn is located close to the main attractions and the only person who looked after us was helpful and friendly.

Central location, very gracious host, decent room

Walking distance to the train station and the colosseum, smallish but comfortable rooms and an awesome hostess. As an old building it has very thick walls so there may be issues with cell/wifi service if that's a concern, but it's a great place that I'd definitely recommend.

Chocolat Inn gives you a very warm welcome

Run by Roberta, this small guest house hotel is a great place to stay. A warm and friendly welcome is followed up by delicious breakfasts of pastries and warm rolls..lots of good suggestions for eating out and Roberta arranged an excellent taxi service for the airport. We would certainly stay there again. If you want somewhere not too expensive, informal and close to the Colosseum then this is for you.

Everything about the Chocolat Inn was great. Roberta was a great host; spoke English well and right when we arrived she provided us with a map and highlighted all the areas to sightsee. She made breakfast every morning and was very flexible with our schedule. Location was perfect - within a few blocks of the coliseum/forum area and under an hour walk from the Vatican, as well as lots of great restaurants within walking distance and a convenience store next door. Our room was kept very clean and the beds were made for us daily. Overall a great place to stay if visiting Rome.

Great location

Roberta is the best hostess and the location is fantastic! We really enjoyed our stay at this hotel. It was only a short walk from Termini station, and within about 10 min walk to the Coloseum, Forum and Palatine Hill. There are loads of restaurants all around the hotel, gift stores, laundromat, grocery store, you name it. The metro and bus stops are just down the street too.
The shower pressure was fantastic, great hot and cold water, clean beds, and Roberta made breakfast every morning which was great. We liked the small hotel aspect of it. Overall, a great 3 nights/4 days at this hotel.
The only thing we would like to see different is to have more mirrors in the room. The only mirror was in the bathroom, and with two women trying to get showered/dressed/make up etc it would be perfect to have another mirror outside the bathroom.

非常に快適でした。

帰りの空港までのハイヤー手配や説明など丁寧にしてくれて助かりました。朝早くのチェックアウトでしたが、鍵をデスクに置いて出ていく程度で少し笑いましたが、問題なかったです。
朝ごはんもセルフでしたが、パンやヨーグルト、ジュース、コーヒーなど一通りの物はあって良かったです。

L'hébergement est très bien situé, près du Colisée et d'une station de métro (Cavour). Nous avons été accueillis par Francesco, un hôte très accueillant et de bon conseil.
Nous avons passé 3 nuits dans la chambre quadruple (2 adultes et 2 enfants) : chambre simple mais propre, au calme, bonne literie. Pas de petit déjeuner proposé mais un petit frigo et une bouilloire qui peut servir d'appoint.
Je recommande cet établissement!

1 nuit en famille après une croisière. Francesco est très aimable et nous a guidé dans le coin. Le wifi est mauvais mais la chambre est bien. Il vient tout juste d’acquérir l’hôtel alors ça ira mieux dans le futur. Situé près du colleseum et de la gare.

После бронирования примерно через месяц стали писать из данного заведения через форму обратной связи, чтобы я написал им номер карты))уже,смешно)Причем писали на итальянском,любые просьбы писать на английском-полный игнор.Причем мои ответы на английском понимали.Затем просили позвонить,чтобы продиктовал им номер карты для списания денег за отель.Причем при брони через hotels.com списания не было и они не могли почему-то это сделать.В итоге \"отель\" отменил бронирование, но так как оно было не отменяемое-деньги все равно просили заплатить))При жалобе через hotels.com-бронирование вернули и списали деньги уже корректно.Но при заселении через 20 дней списали еще раз деньги(ту же сумму до цента),но это заметил уже на следующий день, и так как были праздничные дни, то ни до кого дозвониться не удавалось.Все мои письма также были проигнорированы,никакого ответа от хозяйки квартиры не последовало.Ее, кстати, зовут Роберта.Причем это было именно списание,а не блокировка средств, как говорят в hotels.com. Это я уточнял в банке, плюс уже за транзакцию начислили и проценты на кредитную карту, и баллы.Прошел месяц со второго списания,но деньги так и не вернули!В итоге цена за комнату вышла в два раза больше,чем указано здесь! Мошенничество в явном виде.
Так как это не отель,а гостевой дом,где хозяйка приходит только по звонку и дает вам ключи от квартиры,то при заселении вам надо будет ему звонить по телефону!!Но где взять этот телефон с местной симкой-ее, по всей видимости, не волнует

la mejor ubicación y atendido por sus dueñas

cuando llegamos no había nadie de recepción, pero llamamos por telefono y llegaron enseguida. Eso nos asusto un poco porque primero pensamos que podía ser un fraude, ademas hay un letrero muy chico afuera. Es una especie de pensión que funciona en un tercer piso de un edificio antiguo, pero adentro el lugar esta muy bien. Las señoras que atienden son un encanto, y ellas solo van de arratos, generalmente en la mañana siempre hay gente y esta funcionando el servicio del desayuno. Adentro el lugar esta muy bien, reservamos una habitación familiar para 4 y teníamos baño privado, aire acondicionado y hasta frigobar. La cocina queda a tu disposición todo el dia y el lugar no puede estar mejor ubicado, queda justo al medio entre la terminal y el coliseo, vas caminando a todas partes, y sino tienes una estación del metro en la esquina. Disfrutamos mucho esta estadía.

Hébergement très bien situé, sur une grande avenue, facile à trouver et à 2 pas du Colisée et du Forum Romain. Juste à côté se trouve un quartier très sympa, avec des petites ruelles remplies de restos et bars sympas et pas trop chers. Il s'agit plutôt d'un bed & breakfast que d'un hôtel, type grand appartement avec plusieurs chambres. Les chambres sont assez grandes, salle de bains pratique, tout est très propre et calme. Nous étions côté cour donc pas de bruit de la rue. Mais pas de lumière extérieure et un peu humide. Pas très grave, sachant que nous avons passé notre séjour à nous balader et peu de temps à l'hôtel.
Sinon pas de réception permanente, nous avons eu de la chance que quelqu'un nous ait accueilli à notre arrivée et donné les clés. Parce qu'ensuite nous n'avons pratiquement croisé personne pendant tout le weekend. Donc faire bien attention à caler l'heure d'arrivée et de départ à l'avance pour éviter les soucis. Tout à fait recommandé pour un séjour à Rome !

Hotel/bed & breakfast in het centrum

Aankomst was chaotisch mede omdat tegelijk met ons (3 vriendinnen) een groep van 15 personen aankwam. De volgende dag bood Roberta haar excuses er voor aan, ook dat het minder luidruchtig zou zijn. Tip: bel vanaf het vliegveld hoe laat je denkt bij de Chocolat Inn te zijn. Dan is er in elk geval iemand.
Ontbijt was prima, koffie heerlijk. we misten wat vers fruit,zoals op foto's, en hartig broodbeleg en yoghurt. Het ontbijt op de foto's is meer dan in werkelijkheid. Ook zit je te eten in de kruimels van anderen. tussendoor wordt er niet opgeruimd.
Onze kamer keek uit op een binnenruimte. Was wel rustig gelegen. Douchehoek lekte behoorlijk water op de badkamervloer. Om de dag schone handdoeken (indien je ze op de grond legt!). Zijn groot, niet dik, soort hydrofiel.
Roberta gaf ons allerlei goede tips om te bezoeken, te doen en allerlei goede adressen om te eten.
Voor ons kwam ze chaotisch over. Ik had haar vanuit NL al gebeld. Onze kamer zou klaar zijn en zij zou aanwezig zijn. Dat laatste klopte. Kamer was nog niet klaar, koffers konden we daar laten vanwege chaotische incheck Ook vroeg ze hoe we wilden betalen. Niet dus, alleen de toeristen belasting, rest al bij Expedia gedaan. Na woensdag was Roberta er niet meer en nam Lavinia, die ook schoonmaakte, de honneurs waar. Waar overigens niks mis mee is. Leuk en hartelijk persoon, zeer welwillend. Roberta had beloofd dat wij vrijdag voor terugvlucht konden inchecken en boardingpassen printen. Dus niet, wel beloven,niet doen.

Fotos vom Angebot stimmten nicht überein. Die Hotelzimmer waren nicht vorhanden. Die Hausfassade war nicht identisch mit dem Internetauftritt. Nur ein Fenter zum Lüftungsschacht war vorhanden. Die ganze Woche wurden die Handtücher nicht gewechselt. Personal war sehr freundlich.

le point important est l'absence de réception permanente aux horaires indiqués donc nous avons longuement attendus bien qu'ayant prévenu par mail en réservant, par téléphone le lundi et par sms a l'arrivée a la gare comme il nous l'avait été demandé.Nous sommes arrivés avant 20h . ce qui peut etre très pénible pour les personnes ne pouvant supporter la station debout très longtemps ce qui a était le cas.
Sinon le personnel est très aimable, la chambre était propre et le petit déjeuner très copieux.la situation est idéale pour visiter à pied.
la chambre était a l’arrière et était calme pour les bruits de la rue l'insonorisation intérieure n'était pas terrible . Nous avons laissez un maximum les fenêtres ouvertes sur la cour interieure pour ventiler .
la télé est inutilisable mais cela ne nous a pas gène
