Perfect location. Felt very safe. Walked at night. Three or four blocks to the Colosseum. About three blocks to Termini. There’s a little market next-door and pizza and gelato all walking distance. You have to have a code just to get to the lobby. The only thing is there was not a chain lock on the door in the hotel room itself. Just a code. Overall, great experience. Would recommend.

The staff were friendly and helpful. The room was in good condition, comfortable bed and pillows. I am giving it 3 stars because on my second night there, there was a foul/awful smell from the toilet/ bathroom drainage. It was so bad, I couldn’t sleep. I spoke to the receptionist about it and the next day and they said they’d fix it. I didn’t smell it the next night but it wasn’t a pleasant experience and since there was no one at reception, I didn’t call to ask for a room change.

I can’t say enough good things about this hotel. Although the rooms are on the smaller side, they were incredibly clean and perfect for a city-style stay. The location is unbeatable — very close and walkable to major attractions like the Colosseum and Trevi Fountain. The surrounding area is full of charming shops and restaurants, and it felt extremely safe and well-lit, even at night.

Check-in was quick and easy. One thing to note: there’s a city tax of six euros per person, per night that must be paid in cash, so be sure to bring euros with you, as they don’t accept credit cards for this.

Overall, it was a fantastic stay — clean, secure, and in an amazing location. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Rome!

Location: Really good, can’t fault the location being 15 minutes walk to the Colosseum and from there it’s walkable to the centre. The main station for metro was around 10 minutes walk and easy to navigate. It was not even a minute walk to the street with lots to eat, drink and shop. Super nice area to stay in if you don’t want to be too crowded and was very chill.
Room: The one we had was small which was no issue as it was just us 2 and has everything you need.
There is a key pad entry to the building and room (need to just tap a few times to wake the key pad, the staff kindly told me as I thought it was not working).
Room was cleaned everyday and had no issues there at all.
Rooftop was not open food wise as it looked like there would be a place to eat but it was open to sit and chill up there which was really nice to see the city from above.
Staff: No faults here, super welcoming, friendly, and helpful they would answer any questions you have.
Would consider staying here again :)

Hotel Canova is a clean and quiet hotel, located within easy walking distance of Roma Termini station. It’s perfect for travelers looking for a simple, no-frills place to stay. The rooms are small and compact but offer everything you need for a comfortable night’s rest. Despite the modest amenities, the hotel is well-maintained, providing a peaceful and tidy environment.
If you’re seeking luxury, this isn’t the place, but for those who value cleanliness, convenience, and quiet, Hotel Canova is an excellent choice. It offered us a great base for exploring Rome without breaking the bank.

Conveniently located near many eateries, the main train station, two major subway lines and bus stops.

It's a quaint property, with a comfortable bed, good lighting and power. They also have a rooftop/outdoor space to sit. The breakfast room was not available while we visited since it was under renovation.

However, the room was quite small. There was barely space to unpack two suitcases.

The shower was extremely tight - About 2ft x 2ft with a lower than standard showerhead, which made it really uncomfortable for my husband who is 6ft 2 and needed to crouch in a very small space. There was no caddy or rack to place any of your toiletries in the shower so you either had to hold on to it, or leave it on the floor, which made for very awkward maneuvering in a tight space.

The safe and the heated towel rods weren't working either. Although to be fair, we didn't follow up to see if they could be fixed.

We spent 3 nights there, and spent most of our time outside, so we managed alright. But I wouldn't stay here again.

This hotel was the perfect location for us. We were able to walk wherever we wanted to go and always felt safe. If it was a bit of a distance, an Uber was fairly easy to get (unless the Metro was on strike, that is). We loved that we were able to walk to most places that we wanted to visit, especially the Colosseum.
Hotel staff were very helpful and friendly and a what’s app message was sent to us, detailing how to access our room since we arrived late at night.
However, our bathroom had an odd smell (as some of Rome does), which was not pleasant. This didn’t dampen our trip, as who spends too much time in their rooms when in Rome?! Also, if you’re staying here, travel light, as the elevator is quite small.
All in all, we had an amazing time in Rome, thanks to the staff and location of Hotel Canova.

The staff is super nice and helpful. Had a 5:30am pick up. The desk clerk went out of his way to make us cappuccino and gave us fresh delivered pastries for breakfast. He even wanted to make us something to eat to take with us. Would definitely book again next time we are in Rome.

Great hotel and well situated. Convenient for the central station and, with the Colosseum just a 10 minute walk away, a great base for sightseeing. Even though by day it doesn't look it, the local area is full of restaurants and bars and there is a 'supermarket' next door.
Good sized well equipped rooms and even though the hotel was having some renovation work done while I was there, everywhere was still clean and fresh.
The only minus point I have is that the lift is quite small and very slow so for anyone with mobility problems, that may be an issue.

The bed was very comfortable and thankfully the sheets were very clean. The hotel is locate in a central spot in Rome - both the Coliseum and Trevi foundation are 20 min walking. The room could use some attention - scratch marks all over the walls, and as mentioned in a few previous reviews, has a very distinct musty smell. The room is small and the bathroom is extremely tiny (you have to shut the door to get to the shower which is located behind the door), so ok for a smaller solo traveler, but not sure how a couple would fare in this space.

These hotels are older buildings mixed in with residential areas, so expect the rooms to be small, not what we're normally used to in the USA.
This one was easy walking distance to the termini station, in a quiet neighborhood, had A/C and Wi-Fi in each room, and was close to a pharmacy, a grocery store (pick up snacks and water), as well as decent restaurants. This was also about 15 minutes walk to the Colesseum.

The hotel has wonderful character from the reception area to rooftop breakfast area to the tiny lift (yes it's very small!). This is a small hotel and is simply run but for me ticks all the boxes for a short break in Rome.
Our room was on the 3rd floor and I could not fault it. Yes there's not a lot of space but this was my 4th time in Rome and I've never had a spacious room in any hotel I've stayed in. Considering how much time was spent in the room that's not an issue for me. The bathroom was very clean and the shower was smaller than I'm used to but was sufficiently manageable. The staff were so friendly and helpful which was nice too. We had breakfast included and we wee happy with what we got. The location of Hotel Canova is perfect for getting anywhere in Rome and has some great restaurants within 10 mins walk in any direction. Found the restaurants in the area of the hotel cheaper than the ones nearer the main attractions and the food was excellent in each one. I will be recommending this hotel to friends and will be a hotel I would come back to next time I'm visiting Rome.

We enjoyed our stay at Hotel Canova. It is in a convenient and unique location of Rome. Great restaurants and interesting shops within the immediate neighbourhood. Only a 15 minute walk to the Colosseum. The buffet breakfast was really good and enjoyable on sunny mornings as the location is on the hotel rooftop. We also made use of the supermarket right next door. Staff were very helpful. Cutest elevator we've ever seen. All in all nice place to stay.

The room was very small. The bed was smaller than a twin bed. I came back to have a shower after a long walk and I couldn't access the room for an hour an a half because they were changing the window. I was not advise of that. I was leaving the next morning and they could wait until I check out to change it.

Ok hotel with good location

Rooms are quite small and the shower in our room didn't work very well as it needed to be left on for 10 minutes before getting hot and also flooded and bathroom each time it was used.
We were also on the 5th floor which was really convenient to grab some breakfast when we were heading out for the day, not so convenient when the lift broke and we had to walk up and down the stairs with luggage.
That being said hotel staff were extremely helpful and location was great. It was ok for a short 2 night stay

Nice hotel in the centre of Rome

This is a lovely little hotel in the middle of rione Monti. It is walking distance from Stazione Termini and within a 10 minute walk from the Coliseum and the Fori. It is also situated on a very nice little street with interesting cafés, restaurants and specially shops (from alternative designer clothing to a really neat bike shop). The hotel itself has a wonderful little terrace where to have breakfast or just hang out. We are a family of three and stayed in a small room on the top floor. The room was small, but de facto average size for a three star hotel in Rome. Wifi and TV functioned smoothly. Overall a very pleasurable stay.

Good value in a Convenient location

We stayed at the Canova for 5 days. We chose it because of its convenient location and the value. Its within walking distance of the Colosseum and a subway stop. We arrived early from the airport so had to wait a couple of hours for our room to be ready but they had a luggage storage area so that was fine. The front desk staff was friendly and helpful, A nice but limited breakfast was included each morning on the rooftop terrace. The room was modern and very clean, the bed comfortable, and the room was quiet.

From our booking to our departure I cannot fault the superb service the staff gave us They arranged a car pick up for our arrival. Nothing was a bother . The young lady Claudia (hope I have spelt this correctly) was ver helpful, friendly and professional she kindly arranged tour bus tickets, to tickets for the Colosseum, and gave us some ideasfor good eating and shopping. Nothing was too much to ask her she even kindly printed out our return flight boarding passes.
The hotel was situated very centrally close to within walking distance for many beautiful sites. There were plenty of bars, restaurants and shops .
The room we had was small but we had
No complaints it was ideal for our length of stay although next time when I come for longer I would have no hesitation in staying here. I have stayed in many luxury hotels who's customer service or cleanliness has not been as good as this hotels and that is more important than a big room. We found the beds very comfortable and slept well. The room had good air con and was very quiet at night. We had no outlook but again this was not important to us.
The hotel provided and ample continental breakfast which was a good start to the day. This was served in the roof terrace seating inside and outside which was very quaint. There was also a small bar in the main reception and we were allowed to take our drinks up to the roof terrace to sit late afternoon before going for dinner. This was a wonderful holiday.Thank you to all staff.

Wonderful hotel! My new husband and I stayed there for the first part of our honeymoon and fell in love with its charm. The roof top patio is adorable and the rooms are a nice size. Staff was friendly and helpful. Best part has to be the location. Surrounded by great restaurants at not tourist pricing (like other areas of the city) and it was just a 10-15mins walk to the coliseum and other attractions)

Wifi only available in the lobby. Very old- bathroom was old. Breakfast was great as was the location (close to the train station).

Good location.

Nice, clean room but ensuite a bit small. Not a great selection for breakfast but ok for a short stay. Within walking distance of the Colosseum, Forum, main train station & metro. A good selection of eating places within walking distance.
