Literally the WORST hotel I have ever stayed in. Avoid it. I booked a single room so I was expecting small. But I was not expecting to be put in another building across the street in a damp “basement type” room with no windows. The room was next the laundry and it leaked into my room and got my suitcases wet. I asked to be moved but got no reply.
Checkin was slow, took almost an hour.
Shower had mould in it. I couldn’t wait to get out of there.

This hotel worked well for our 3 night stay in Rome. It was walking distance to the train station, Trevi Fountain and Spanish Steps. The rooms were dated but comfortable and breakfast was good. There are steps to get into the lobby but they had an elevator once inside the hotel. The only confusing part was we weren't aware that we had to book our breakfast time for each morning. When we checked in they asked what time we wanted breakfast as there are 3 sittings. We understood that was our time for our stay, but you need to book it for each morning. They were accommodating and let us sit for breakfast when we stayed, which was great.

After traveling all night with no sleep and rolling our suitcases across Rome we arrived at the hotel to be told there was an emergency with our room and we did not have one. A few days earlier, they emailed me a confirmation but never bothered to let me know this until I showed up. They moved me to a different hotel that was right across from the train station, a location I did not want. The new hotel was filthy, dirty, and not what I paid for. The only thing they offered was free breakfast at the dirty hotel. Horrible experience. We were so tired and only there one night, so made the best of it, but horrible customer service. Very upset!!!

Avoid this hotel. The reviews looked good and i am not one to complain, but this was terrible. We got to the hotel after flying all night. We were on the third floor. There was one elevator which was an old style with a cage and door. Very slow when it worked at all. Got to our room. It was like a broom closet. Was very dirty, mini fridge door was broken, no toilet paper in the room. I grabbed a quick shower and the shower door fell off in my hands. That was enough for me. Got our room changed to another room . A little cleaner. Shower extremely small. Breakfast was not good either. I am very disappointed.would not recommend this hotel.

Horrible experience. We had a 5:30 am departure when I checked in the night before I made sure to make the front desk aware that we were leaving @ 5:30 AM the next morning and to make sure we were able to exit the hotel smoothly ( after 11 PM they no longer staff anyone so you are SOL if anything happens . the hotel hours are 7-11)
well we got up early the next morning because we had a early flight to catch we had SIX large suitcases ( because my daughter had studied abroad for an entire semester) - we get our luggage to the elevator and what do you know the SHUT down the elevator from 11 PM - 7 AM ?? what the ??
we had to walk down three flights of steps with SIX large luggage bags. - two of our luggage bags broke . a bag handle and a bag wheel. I threw my back out and now in severe pain and has to fly for 12 hours back home
this is unacceptable
the main reason I chose this hotel was because of the elevator because I knew we would have 6 large luggages .
I tried to contact the hotel SEVERAL times and absolutely NO response- I would definitely NOT recommend this hotel!!

The hotel was well centralized to most everything and within walking distance to many venues, stores, restaurants, the train station and the Colosseum. The hotel definitely had charm and the potential to be an extraordinary one due to its kept historical characteristics starting with its elevator. You remember those caged-style ones seen often throughout 1930 and 1940 movies? Well, they had one and in working condition. Beautiful staircase with marble floors. My understanding is that the hotel used to be an apartment complex some years ago. The entrance had a majestic door, that among other things needed tender loving care. It was disappointing to see the few pieces of garbage scattered on the entrance floor, which for the two nights we were there, it was never picked up. They had a sweet girl at the front desk within a very small lobby who was trying to accommodate everyone, but there were obviously too many folks waiting in line for her to handle. Those that were told to come back at 3:00 for check-in were obviously too tired from their trips and frustrated when the turn around for their rooms was not happening. Luckily, when we were finally given a room, it was clean indeed and the sheets were nice and fluffy. The visit was doable, but it definitely needs more care and attention.

The room was clean but no amenities except for body gel in the shower. No Kleenex, shampoo/conditioner or body lotion. The handle on the blow dryer was dirty. I think that they should vacuum the elevator fence and components. While waiting for it to arrive I could see so much dust.

Felt safe the entire time here! Perfect location, 8-10min walk to the main train station, which is also Stop 1 for the hop on hop off bus. The hotel is closer to the Stop 2 for the hop on hop off bus, only 4-5 min walk. Several restaurants and stores right outside the front door!

Basic older style 3 star hotel typical for the region, good location, easy walk from the train station and all attractions. Rooms were small but clean, beds were comfortable and air conditioning worked well. Bathroom was clean, shower on the small size but not unusual for European cities. Staff were friendly, breakfast basic but adequate. The breakfast lady each morning always welcomed you with a smile. Pleasant stay.

Location of the hotel was good. It's walking distance to the train station and to the main attractions. Unfortunately the hotel doesn't have 24 hour front desk support. At night they closed. One night we returned to the hotel after 11pm and found that the front door is closed and our key cards not working. Somehow they were deactivated. We could not get into the hotel and in the room. We had to call to another hotel and waited a while. Eventually they send somebody to help us to get into our room. So it was a hassle. We got into our room around 1am.
Next time I will to be choosing a hotel without 24 hour front desk support.

Room unavailable. Part of Bzar group. Sent to Marisa other side of station further from old Rome. Given double not twin room 4th floor in a building around the block. Shocking degrade for wife with disability. So many entrance steps to check in haul suitcases up down 3 times. Very angry but no option Rome full for the race for life. Walk to breakfast. Can't recommend this chain didn't get anything like what I paid for. Avoid!

Our shower was stopped up as was the sink. We had one towel. The body wash was empty. After the first day our keys didn’t work. And to top it off when we got there they told us they had moved us to another hotel. We made the reservation in May of 2025. We were with 4 other friends and we told them moving us was not going to work.

Honestly, do not stay at this property unless you have no other options. It is located inside a building with other properties. Pictures of the rooms on the website are misleading. The front desk clerk wasn’t very helpful during our stay. The room was a double accommodating 3 people. The condition of the room was in bad shape because the walls were dirty, there was paint peeling and holes in the walls, the chair was filthy and torn, the wooden blinds were dirty, the batteries on the remote for the air conditioner unit had to be replaced upon our request. The bathroom soap holder was rusty. We ran out of hot water after 1 shower and the bathroom door wouldn’t stay open. The only positive comments are the bathroom was clean and the sheets were clean.
If you book this property, it’s is about a 1o-15 minute walk from the Rome Termimi station and be sure to have a map (highlighting all the streets and some landmarks to help you navigate) or use a GPS app on your phone for directions. We did not pay 10 euros per person for the continental breakfast since it was located in a small room off the reception area with no seating and very limited selections. The price we paid on Expedia when we booked 3 months earlier was 50 Euros more than the rate available the day of our arrival. The clerk would not give us a partial refund for the conditions since we used Expedia. We are experienced travelers in Italy and do not recommend HS unless it’s the only choice available to you.

I received a message from the hotel days prior to our arrival to confirm what beds for our room. I reiterated the email confirmation. On arrival we were told 'theres been a problem' and they didn't have a room for us and was instead redirecting us to another hotel, which was apparently an 'upgrade'

Air con didn't work, hairdryer didn't work, TV didn't work, shower didn't work, and one of the flush buttons on the toilet didn't work and the one working one kept getting stuck and the toilet was constantly dispensing water and making odd noises every few minutes. Nor did the beds match what we reserved despite getting confirmation prior to arrival. After our first night we notified reception of the issues with the air con, shower and toilet. They sent someone up and Aircon was now working but then we were told the toilet and shower would be resolved on Monday which was the day we were departing. (This was all on a Saturday) Reception didn't follow up with any of this with us.

Considering this was a 4 star 'upgrade' was overall disappointed. I've stayed in lower star hotels with more working amenities and the basics working. Wouldn't recommend and if we went back to Rome or anywhere that has Bazar Hotels, I would be avoiding Hotel Sonya, Hotel la Griffe/Bazar Hotels.

Great location of the hotel. We walked from the train station late evening and felt safe all the time while here. It is an older hotel but well maintained. Amenities were nice in the room and adequate but nothing fancy. Good wifi and the breakfast that was included was a nice and easy way to get a solid breakfast at a restaurant around the corner before our big day of exploring the city.

Upon arrival they had no room for us. We had 2 rooms booked for 6 people after a 12 hour flight and 1 hour drive we got to hotel and were told no room. They sent us by cab to another hotel and that hotel was the wrong place. Then got sent to a third hotel. It was very stressful. No idea what hotel or rooms were like.

We had tea and coffee making facilities but no tea/coffee. Carrefour over the road though. Staff helpful, breakfast is at a cafe around the corner choice of pastry, scrambled eggs & bacon/omelette, coffee and juice. Easy as a base to get around the city. Plenty of places to eat nearby.

Hotel Sonya is a wonderful place to stay . Staff are always so welcoming and helpful . The rooms are always clean with plenty of space . Great location ! Easy short walk from Termini Station. Lots of restaurants nearby and a grocery store across the street. The beautiful Opera House is also across the street . It is easy to walk to all sites and if you don’t like to walk buses and underground metro are close by . I can also recommend their sister hotel the “ Suite Opera Rooms “ which is a few minutes walk away . Love both places !!!! Every time I am in Rome these are the places I love to stay .

The room was clean and all of the staff were very nice and accommodating, with the exception of one guy who worked overnight and did not lift a finger to help me, even though I told him I was sick, hungry and dizzy. Uhmb, I hope I spelt the name right, was an angel! He let me use his phone to call my husband who had became hospitalized and loaned me a charger so I could charge my phone. He was very patient and a real Godsend!! The older Indian gentleman was great as well. Even the housekeeper helped me load my luggage on the elevator.

We had an unexpected stay at Hotel Sonya when our flight home was cancelled. It was so refreshing to have such excellent care and customer service. Nothing was to hard for them to do to assist us. This boutique hotel is ideally located and it is now a favorite, as with many things in Italy it may not be planned but it is a pleasant surprise. We will be back!

This hotel was a last minute choice due to a flight change and picked because of the reviews by previous guests that were very positive. It was also very reasonably priced. First impressions with the entry way and lobby were a little underwhelming. But, the staff were wonderful and extremely helpful. Our rooms were very nice, spotless, the beds extremely comfortable and the bathrooms pleasantly updated. The location was great, lots of great cafes and restaurants nearby and there were picturesque areas that we spent time walking around and just enjoying on our last day in Rome. There was also a fantastic Thai Spa & Massage place just across the road, great staff and highly recommended as the perfect way to unwind after a hectic few days of tours and sightseeing.

This is a good, clean 3 star hotel in a very central position in Rome near Termini station. The room was quite small and basic but I think it represented very good value for such a central position. The staff were friendly, welcoming and efficient. The breakfast was off site but it was very good and only a very short distance away. I would stay here again.
