The hotel was good for what needed in Rome. It’s relatively close to all major attractions. And around the hotel you can find many options to eat and drink. Also, it’s conveniently close to Roma Termini station.

I was pleasantly surprised by this property. The rooms were very clean, the beds comfortable and they provided toiletries and other basics that seem to be gone from similar hotels. The area around the hotel is very walkable and there are plenty of dining options within a couple of blocks. The hotel is close to Termini and the surrounding area was no different than that in other large cities. The staff was very helpful. There was a rooftop bar that we visited daily. Drinks were good and the servers friendly. The only minor negative was the size of the room. It wasn’t small, would’ve just preferred something slightly roomier for our oversized luggage.

Hotel Universo was an excellent choice for us arriving from Fiumicino Airport in the afternoon, waiting to catch our morning train to Sicily the next day. It is an easy and short walk to and from Roma Termini. The staff were professional and friendly. Our room was clean and comfortable and their fabulous rooftop bar was a wonderful place to grab a thirst quenching cocktail after a long international flight.

The hotel staff were very nice and friendly. The rooms were clean with modern amenities and also very quiet (as they were facing the smaller side street). Had some concerns about staying near the Termini area, but never felt unsafe walking around the vicinity of the hotel for food, gelatos, visiting shops, etc even at late night as there were many tourists in the area.

Shower/tub was small but larger than other European arrangements I've stayed in.

The hotel was in a convenient location within walking distance to many attractions (20 minutes to Trevi Fountain, The Spanish Steps, the Pantheon, & the Colosseum) restaurants, and the train station (5 minutes). The staff at the front desk and in the restaurants are very friendly and helpful. The only glitch we had was when we arrived at the airport, the transfer we booked through the hotel was not there. After calling the hotel, the driver arrived about 45 minutes later. I would suggest booking through a ride share or private car service. The amenities at the hotel are convenient. We ate at the breakfast buffet every morning and had dinner at the rooftop restaurant one night. Both places were clean and the food selections were good and reasonably priced. The buffet had a big selection of pastries, pancakes, waffles, fresh fruit, yogurt, cereals, breads, potatoes, meats, rice, salad, juice, coffee, lattes, cappuccinos, and eggs to order. One morning we had to catch an early train, so the staff put together a “to go” breakfast for us. It contained juice, muffins, fruit, and many more breakfast items. The rooms were comfortable and roomy. We had a balcony room, and it was nice to sit out there in the evening after a day of exploring the city. I would absolutely recommend this hotel when staying in Rome.

Love everything about this hotel. Walkable to almost everything we wanted to see. Very comfortable room and even had a hairdryer and washcloths. We needed an iron and they brought it to our room immediately! Wonderful and helpful staff. relaxing balconies. Very clean room with a stocked fridge.

This hotel was perfect as it is close to the Roma Termini train station. The staff was excellent and the room was very comfortable; also, they arranged an airport shuttle for us and that was very helpful. Breakfast was very good and a great way to start the day. The rooftop restaurant had a great view and was nice to relax there after a long day. I highly recommend this hotel.

The front desk staff were very helpful and walked us through our hotel charges. They arranged our transfer to the port. Made the experience easy and effortless.
Only negative we had was, our room AC wasn’t cold as what the temperature says on the thermostat. In the evening, we opened the window to get some cool air into the room. Other than that, the stay was nice!

Overpriced. Looks good, but expensive for the true value received. No tissues in the tissue holder. On some days, now wash cloths. Closet/wardrobe doors would not stay closed, slowly opening and creating a hazard at night. Desk was too narrow to be useful. Bed was OK but pillows were very firm. Lighting in the room was poor.

A wonderful hotel close to many prime tourists attractions, such as colosseum, Pantheon and Trevi fountain. Also close to termini station and you can catch a bus to anywhere from termini.
Rooms are wonderful. Beds are very comfortable. Definitely book with the breakfast inclusion. Breakfast is top notch with omelet bar and endless cappuccino!

The breakfast hostess was very attentive and helpful. She was on duty from Thursday the 16th to Sunday the 19th.

The staff at Vero Rooftop were outstanding and extremely attentive.

The breakfast was spectacular—varied and complete. The coffee was excellent.

The room was spacious and comfortable, with hot water in the shower and air conditioning.

The location is also very central, especially close to Termini Station.

This hotel is located close to the rail station and several attractions. The room and bathroom are very spacious, which is not typical for hotels in Europe. The rooftop restaurant offers good food, wine, and beautiful views. The breakfast in the morning was very impressive, with a wide variety of food and coffee. If you have time for the sauna, I would recommend it for relaxation after long walks in Rome - it’s free :-).

We are a family of five from the U.S. We stayed in the family room which is really two adjoined rooms. It was perfect for us. One room has a queen bed and a twin bed, the other room has a king bed and a twin bed. Our two older children slept in one room while me, my wife, and our youngest slept in the other. The lights were a little confusing but we got it down after one night. We stayed two days and would 100% recommend this to anyone traveling from the U.S. with a similar family size as ours.

The location was perfectly situated for us, nearby train station, Basilica St Mary’s Major, Spanish Steps, Trevi Fountain and a lot of wonderful restaurants at the doorstep. The staff were very helpful. However, the walls were a bit thin since we can hear our neighbors snoring and sneezing.

Great location for sightseeing and a few blocks to train station- this worked well for our day trip to Florence by fast train and walking distance to shopping, the national museum of Rome and short bus or uber ride to all tours and areas we wanted to visit. Quiet hotel great for sleeping. Next time I would request a room with a better view- we faced a wall. We were spoiled by the staff- everyone was very friendly and caring!

The room was a weird, two story duplex? The stairs seemed like a death trap, the tub was super high to get in and out, the room was incredibly hot and you can hear every other guest in the place!

Room, staff and facilities all great at the Universo apart from the noise from the street all night. Our room was at the front on the main street and people were noisy until very late then bins of glass bottles were emptied at around 4:30 so had very little sleep. I would stay again as the location is excellent providing I got a room away from the main street.

Hotel is nice but I had some issues:

My first room had a weird fish smell, but they were nice enough to move me to another room. But the next day my key card stopped working and I had to go get another one from the front desk. The following morning I got a wake up alarm call at 5 AM that I definitely didn't set, and when I asked the front desk they had no idea what I was talking about.

It's a nice hotel but I think the people running it are a little clueless.

Staff courteous and room is clean but bathroom is super dated. Soap dispenser is far away from sink causing you to drip and the shower leaked water under the door. The breakfast was mediocre because items were not properly labeled and bread was rather stale. The best part was the location close to train, restaurants and key attractions.
