The room was dirty, garbage under the dresser (taller legs so you could see under) black mold or dirt around the vents and black mold on the ceiling, scuffs all over the walls, many things needed to be replaced, metal fixtures on the sink and shower dirty as well. Thankfully we didn’t spend much time in the room because it was not worth the money paid. Would not recommend. Housekeeping also opened the door at 7:30 in the morning while we were still sleeping without even knocking first. She was just as startled as we were.

1. The ceiling was damaged and leaking, and leaked above the water station/kettle area where we placed our baby bottles for sanitization. This water from the ceiling dripping was completely unacceptable and the state of the room was not what we expected.
2. The room was not ready upon us arriving, but front desk still gave us the key and asked us to wait in the room while the cleaner finished. we did this, but the cleaner rushed and we found later that night the room was not cleaned sufficiently including finding dirty chewing gum in the bed.

I’m giving this hotel a mixed review, and honestly, it’s only saved from being terrible thanks to the kind lady at the front desk who helped me switch my original room. She was polite, accommodating, and made me feel welcomed, which I appreciated.

My rate was $300 per night! No pocket change

Now, onto the spa experience—what a disaster. The whole point of a spa is to relax, but instead, I was met with attitude from the staff. I arrived about an hour and 30 minutes before closing, and the lady working there acted like I was inconveniencing her just by showing up. She was visibly annoyed, and her mood completely ruined the vibe. She mentioned there was tea available, but the tea was cold and old. When I asked for water, she got mad, which was honestly shocking.

If you’re looking for a relaxing spa experience, this is NOT the place. I wouldn’t return for the spa, but the front desk service was good.

This hotel is very convenient since it’s close to Rome Termini, but the location felt a bit sketchy. On the positive side, the staff was amazing—very friendly and helpful throughout our stay.

Unfortunately, the room itself was extremely uncomfortable. The air conditioning was an issue: we traveled in July and saw a sign saying to call the front desk if we needed AC. When we did, they told us it was already set as low as possible. The room stayed hot and stuffy, and we barely slept. On top of that, the mattress was horrible and the pillows were just as bad—making it impossible to get any real rest.

We tried opening the window, but it faced an alley where trash trucks came by collecting garbage, which was very loud throughout the night. To make things worse, the water never got truly hot, only lukewarm.

Overall, while the staff was excellent, the lack of sleep from the poor mattress, pillows, AC, and constant noise made our stay very unpleasant.

Beautiful vintage hotel with wonderful staff !!

Gorgeous nostalgic hotel with very kind front desk staff. They really enjoy and care about making your stay effortless. They will help you with your plans by making recommendations like nice hotels used to do in past.
Ask for a “Peach Bellini” at their beautiful bar downstairs; you won’t be disappointed! Rooftop bar was soo pretty, unfortunately, arriving very late, it was already closed for the evening for our stay.
Super close to the Terminni train station and in a nice area in proximity of train station if you know you know.
We wrapped up our 20 day travel adventure staying here the night before our flight home and wished we could stay longer and would gladly recommend to travelers staying in Rome.
I’ll throw one “could be improved” and that was the bed was a little lacking but as tired as we were did not affect our one night stay.

This is a historic hotel conveniently located just a block from Termini station, making it an excellent base for a short stay in Rome or an overnight before catching a train. The property has a restaurant and two bars, including a rooftop bar with nice views. The check-in staff were friendly and eager to help, even after a minor issue at arrival.

There are two elevators—one charmingly historic and one more modern—but during busy times they didn’t quite keep up with demand. The room itself was adequate, clean and comfortable enough for a brief stay, though amenities like the shampoo and body wash could be improved.

Drinks at the bars were good, and the bartenders were welcoming. Overall, this is a solid option for a short visit, especially if location and convenience are your top priorities.

The hotel is well located close to the Termini station, breakfast was great with lots of options and restaurant/bar had good selection of food and drinks.

On the downside, the SPA only works from 2pm to 7pm which is terrible if you are spending time in the city. We wanted to enjoy the SPA but simply couldn't book it.

Moreover, we had 3 people staying in the room and for 2 days the staff forgot to put enough towells for us. We also ran out of shampoo one day. The bed for the 3rd person was also small and uncomfortable (I think it is only suitable for kids).

Terrible first visit to Rome

The lady (Amina) I think was her name was not very kind. She was rude the entire time we dealt with her. We had an issue with a double booking, and we did the pre-work to reduce the number of days at the hotel, but apparently it was not communicated with the hotel. We were given an old room with beatup furniture and walls, the bed was a cardboard, the pillows were cardboard, we didn’t have hot water, it was room temperature at best, the room was cold and managed by front desk who claimed they turned up heat…but didn’t… just a terrible experience for first visit to Rome. The restaurant maitre’d was a jewel and breakfast was top tier on a positive note.

No ac super hot at night had to call every night for them to put the ac and the last 2 nights they didn’t put it at all.
The check chaos no power and the only time we done there the power went on and off continuously .
They put in the 6 floor worts floor to be due the bat they have upstairs noise moving furniture music.
we have bites all over our bodies don’t know if is a mosquito or bed bugs
And last the bathroom window if you open it the other room and the people at the roof top bar can see you in 3D.

Generally it was a good staying for us. The location is really good, the staff are ok, and there are some other good things about this place such as good breakfast, big rooms, complimentary tea and coffee, etc.
However, the facility is really old and needs some serious attention. The Internet signal is weak in some areas, beds are noisy, washrooms are old, and rooms do not look clean (even if they are actually clean)...

Definately not a hotel i woyld recommwnd to other travellers. The walls are paper thin and so you hear everything happening in the halls and other rooms. The stench of the bathroom permeates through the room making it unbearble to breath. No hot water to shower in the mornings, breakfast mediocre and the roof top terrace is underwhelming unlike the pictures on the site. This hotel was the low light of my travela to Rome.

The Golden Tulip in Rome has the most helpful, polite and efficient staff. I wanted for nothing.
I loved the tables and chairs outside the hotel which allowed me to sit outside at my own property rather than having to be in a restaurant in order to sit home. A great place to chill after long days of walking.

Not a 4 star hotel and no A/C as stated

This hotel was depressing. The rooms had bare minimum, SUPER hard beds, very thin walls, and staff were aloof. My bathroom had a super weird configuration where I could not get ready in the morning so I brought all my stuff out to the bedroom and got ready at the desk. However, the biggest problem with the stay was you had to sleep with your windows open, which allowed in bugs, noise, pollution, etc. I studied the hotels.com website and went to the hotel's website and studied it very carefully before booking. Both said air conditioning. When you got to the hotel they gave you a piece of paper that said they only run the air conditioner late spring and summer. Even with a medical condition they would not turn it on. The rooms were hot and stuffy. They suggested that we open the windows and prop open door to the hallway for airflow. I think not! We were exhausted our entire stay in Rome. My friend's room stunk like mold and had quite a bit of mold all on the walls. My room had a fresh coat of paint but still stuck like mold. I suspect it's from being shut up with no air flow. They at least need ceiling fans to help circulate the air. They're creating their own unhealthy environment. The only positive thing about this stay was it had hot water and the convenient location. However, there were many, many other hotels in the same area, so I would avoid this one.

Not happy with experience. - our room was very small and not worth the price. Our washroom was overflowing, it’s not possible to take shower. It’s unfair to address it as 4 star property. This hotel only charges for location. Hotel wifi is pathetic and as a tourist wi-fi is the basic need. Elevators are too old. A big NO. Don’t waste your money here, you can find multiple hotels on same street.

We had booked the double room. The rooms are dark. Although there are windows and some rooms have balconies. We didn’t get hot water on the first morning. Upon enquiring the manager said “this area of the hotel usally not great” we were like why did we even get this room then? They changed our rooms while we were super tired. Next thing we ordered a couple of towels, cups and tea etc. that took 2 hours. I had to rush at the reception after 2 hours to get the cups. The answer was “sorry” thats it!! The service wasn’t great overall but stay was okay. Rooms do get hot at night though.

I arrived at 11:30 and the front desk clerk told me that check in was at 2 so the room wasnt available until 2. Thats ok but when i came back the new clerk told me the room had been cleaned a long time ago.

The hotel turns off the AC st the end of summer. The room was warm during the day but cool enough at night.

Breakfast is in a basement room down a winding corridor.

I would rate the hotel higher but the place is extremely noisy. You can hear people going up and down the stone stairs, down the tiled halls, talking in the nearby rooms, and moving around in the floor above.

The staff was rude to us. Perhaps they expect us to book the most expensive room to treat us politely. The front desk Lady in lunch time 1:30 pm was racist and spoke to us so badly. We are Asians and she thought we are cheap. They kept giving the room to Other white guests from 1 pm onwards and asked us to wait. We waited and only to be insulted badly. The customer experience is -100 at this hotel. The room was dark, no phone service working, the room service left the used untidy bottles and toilets were not refreshed properly. We could smell the room dirty. They claim to have many good reviews but I think they are all scripted reviews. There are no guests other than us and few other white aged couples who are not noticing the cold reception. I went to this hotel for my birthday celebration and they made me face terrible experience in my birthday day. Never again in life we will recommend this hotel to Asians and young couples. The food stinks and the rooms are dirty.

This my first ever negative review for hotel. DO NOT STAY There, i t is scam definitely not 4 star hotel it may be 2 or less.
I stayed just for one night it was horrible experience.
The reception were rude, the room is dirty there was a mosquito in the room, the breakfast is very basic . The remote control for TV was not working I called them and they said that they send someone to check it and I am still waiting they never showed up. Noise at night . You can not control the temperature in your room you have to call the receptionist for that.
It was bad experience thanks god it was just one night.

More like a 3-star hotel

Rated as 4-stars, the Golden Tulip has some nice things to offer but in my opinion fell short during our stay. Upside: Large rooms for a European hotel. Service was excellent. Check-in smooth with bellman available. Downside: Advertised A/C available yet it had to be requested from the front desk - and then it was poor performing. Shower drained slow (they fixed that) and the halls / walls were very thin. With our room being close to the main elevator area significant noise was experienced.
