Very good location for walking around the city. Also right next to the Metro. The breakfast is good but there is only one breakfast option that I’m aware of. You can ask for a drink along with your food I always had Hot chocolate and Cappuccino. It is a bread/pastry, yogurt, and toast.

It’s was the dirtiest place I’ve ever booked during the 20 years. Disgusting smell came from the garbage under the terrace and from the toilet. Because the building is very old and pipes are not clean.
There are no windows in the room. Also there was constant noise from the compressor condenser unit beside the terrace. On the terrace there is a mold everywhere.
This property is not only terrible, but has an unsanitary conditions.
They have another rooms, I don’t know what conditions are there. But they could not give us another one. I disappointed very much.

Giorgio was lovely to deal with. She communicated well throughout our stay through WhatsApp getting us to the hotel and entering. We stayed 2 nights and we had to change rooms for the second night due to a renovation in our room. We were a little apprehensive of leaving our luggage in the room with the door unlocked the next morning while we went on a tour. Our luggage was placed in the second room the next day when it was ready and the key was put in a safe place for us to obtain when we arrived back very late from our day. Breakfast was served to your room. Different than what we are used to but it was coffee, juice, chocolate and a plain croissant and yogurt. Suited us for a quick bite before going out. She also helped us get to the airport. Thanks again Giorgio. You are the best.

The location was great. I think the host had to provide the self check in instruction in the way any guests feel convenient. It was shear luck that I was able to check in.
The place is not worth for the money that I paid. Three twin beds were put in a small room. I expected more than that with the price I paid.

So at first I have to say I was disappointed to the point I contacted Expedia to get a refund and switch hotels. Why? The room had a very strong smell of mold and the bathroom smelled like sewage whenever we used the sink. Opening the window meant listening to all the noise outside (mostly from the restaurant) Since a refund was denied by the hotel, we had to stay since I was not willing to waste the money I had paid for the 3 nights I planned to stay.
The hotel was okay after all. I must say the front desk staff was great!! Breakfast was good as well.
The things I did not like was the smell, and it was very noisy outside at night, since they have a restaurant in the lobby with outdoor seating. But it would die down at around 9:30pm.
Cleanliness was great, staff was great, and location was great!! We were able to walk almost everywhere.

Sofia at check-in was great.
She kept in touch by whatsapp prior to our arrival and made the check-in process seamless. The room was spotless, the beds were comfortable and we enjoyed the breakfast, especially the croissants... It had a small patio that was quaint but looked out to another building.. if you're staying longer than overnight, perhaps request one of rooms with a front view.
The property was a safe and comfortable 10 min walk from the train station..we had back packs...but a small pull along would be ok as there are side walks.
It was an easy walk to most of the historic sites and food..the Vatican was a bit further. We didnt have time to get there ...so you may need a bus
Lots of food choices around and we felt safe walking back from the restaurant after dinner at 9.30pm.
Overall a pleasant stay.

Fantastic location. 15/20mins walk to famous sights except the Vatican which is an hour walk away. However we used the hop on hop off bus to get there and back which worked really well. Easy to find on arrival having walked for about 10mins from train station. All staff were very helpful, polite and cheerful. We were given good advice for bars and eating places nearby.couldn’t fault it and would definitely book again if in Rome.

Cannot fault this hotel!

Stayed here with a friend for a long weekend in Rome and can’t fault the hotel! Location was brilliant, and only a short walk away from the metro, shops and restaurants. The room was fairly basic however had everything we needed, including a sheltered balcony which was lovely to sit out on in the mornings and evenings. The host showed amazing customer service, responding to any queries or requests we had in a kind and considerate manner. We will most definitely return to this establishment when we come back to Rome in the future!!

First time staying in Rome! Locanda al Viminale was such an amazing stay. The breakfast and choice of beverage in the morning we always looked forward too. Erica and Giorgia were so helpful all steps of the way. Felt very safe as you needed to get past 3 doors with keys and passcode to get to your room door. Trevi fountain is so close walked there almost everyday to get to everywhere. Perfect location!

It’s a motel. The picture in the first image isn’t of the room we stayed in. Our room was older with peeling ceiling and an interesting smell. The sheets were clean, but the top bedding was not. The bathroom was clean and so was the room. There was a smell, but I’m guessing that was from outside?? Maybe.. The staff was excellent and extremely helpful, responsive and kind. The breakfast exceeded expectations. The room disappointed, but it did its job well given the price we payed for the single night we stayed.

The room we were in bears no resemblance to the photos on the website. It was dark and as another reviewer mentioned, there was a constant unpleasant smell.
The shower wasn’t fixed to the wall.

Good room but poor first impression

Basically it is a big apartment with five or six rooms in a big building. One needs codes to unlock two doors to get into the building, then gets into the apartment with a big key. After getting into the apartment, one would feel not very good smell. Therefore, the first impression was not good. However, its room is good and comfortable. If you don’t have a high expectation, this is still good for a family trip.

I enjoyed my stay very much. The staff was there to help check-in and provide directions upon arrival. We got there early and they were able to accommodate our check-in and allowed us to have earlier access to the room. Good and safe location within walking distance to all major landmarks. This is not exactly a hotel but more like a lodge in a dated building with a several self-contained rooms. It has no proper reception and the check in desk is not always manned. Fortunately, there’s a tiny lift retrofitted between stairs to assist guests with heavy luggage. The breakfast is hopeless and, is served to your room every morning, which is a tray containing a small selection of items. We stayed three nights and we noticed the amount of ham slices and cheese served kept reducing as days went by - last day it was only one slice of ham to share between two of us - we had a good laugh! The plus point is however, there are plenty of coffees, cookies and baked tarts left for guests in communal area for self service at no charge. Overall, this place offered us decent and safe accommodation in the centre of Rome at reasonable price with no frills attached.

Family 3 day stay in Rome, Hotel has a great central location not far from the Colosseum 15 min walk and other attractions approx 30 min walk, plenty of local restaurants nearby.
The room was of good size and adequate for a family of 4. beds were comfortable.
The room although having a small terrace area had limited natural light and did have a feeling of being closed in. However unless you want to stay in the room all day won't be a real issue.
The Wifi is good. Has a lift to get your luggage up from the ground floor.
The breakfast of pastries, toast, juice, cheese & ham, yogurt and a coffee of your choice is brought to your room is nice. The 24 hr available water, coffee/tea & biscuits in the common area is also nice.
For me the standout was the service provided by Georgia at reception who was always available and accommodating with information and tips and would reply promptly to pre stay emails and the breakfast lady with her preparation of our breakfast daily.
Would recommend for a value shorter stay in Rome

I rarely write any reviews, but I wanted to write about my experience with La Locanda Viminale, Rome. It was my first time in Rome, Italy, and I chose this place for my husband and I to stay during our trip. We really loved the location: really close to all major attractions, restaurants and close to Termini train station. I would like to point out that this is not a hotel by any means, and that was the mistake I have made for relying on HOTEL.COM description and not verifying through other resources. It is a B&B with total 5-6 rooms available, all located on the second floor. There is an elevator in the building, but it never worked for us since it was very slow and extremely small (my husband and I couldn’t fit with 2 carry-ons and 1 checked luggage). We had to take the stairs bringing our suitcases which I personally found inconvenient. It didn’t really bother us using stairs other than when arriving and leaving and dealing with the suitcases. One thing I found really unprofessional was the check-in lady requesting for us to pay the city tax with cash only when we gave our credit card. It was quite disturbing after traveling for the last 5 hours hear the front desk lady offering us to even go to the local bank to get the cash instead of just simply accepting our payment. I later learned that it was the way for the locals to avoid paying their taxes. A good B&B located centrally and makes your stay in Rome easy for sightseeing-most of the places can be reached on foot. As for staying at La Locanda Viminale, it is a basic B&B, the rooms we stayed were airconditioned and comfortable. The breakfast was served in room, would prefer a variety and freshly made hot food. There is also tea, coffee, water and snacks in communal area, which can be used any time; a good source of food to have through the day. The staff were very supportive and helpful as well as quick in responding to our needs or problems. They made our stay comfortable as possible. We only felt that the shower in our room needed fixing and wished it had a good water flow. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and our stay was comfortable.

This property is very close to all the major sites of Rome. Giorgia, the main staff, was absolutely wonderful. The room has all the required elements and was very clean, not overly large, but more than enough space for 2 people. A great simple, yet tasty breakfast is provided. We requested a car to the airport and it was taken care of for us. The only small issue is locating the hotel, but we found it after a few minutes.

Great hotel located about a 15 minute walk from the main train station. Georgia was super nice and helpful and the room was perfect. And there is actually a lift in the hotel, a rare find in Italian hotels. However, the hotel is only on the 2nd floor so not a far climb up the stairs. Great breakfast in the room every morning and water refills whenever you like.

We were very disappointed in the room we were given. It had a terrible smell that they were trying to mask with intense air fresheners. We had room number 1 with the balcony facing the interior of the building. It overlooked the garbage bins and we were unable to use the balcony because the smell outside was awful. After a few days the smell was absorbed into our clothing and i could notice it on my cloths when we left the hotel. They said it was not possible for us to move rooms, we would have left but we didn’t have extra money to spend. The other rooms did look better, if you stay here don’t let them book you in room 1. It’s shameful that they rent this room out, they need to fix the problem.

We had a wonderful time at La Locanda Viminale. The service is fantastic, the breakfast is beyond lovely (so yummy and thoughtful, served in your room everyday at your choice of time), the rooms are big and clean and the location is spot on.
With Giorgia's help as soon as we arrived, we figured the routes from the hotel to every place that we wanted to visit. We only took public transport when heading to Piazza Navona and the Vaticano, but even so, the bus stop was seconds away from the Piazza di Viminale and the hotel is also near the Termini, which makes airport transfers even smoother. The Colosseum is around 10 minutes away (depends on how fast you walk!)
There's also a lovely restaurant next door to it (go for the Carbonara!) and the best Gelatto I've ever had is less than 5 minutes away, the area surrounding the hotel is full of lovely and vibrant restaurants so I, frankly, couldn't recommend it enough :)

We left La Locanda pretty sure that we wouldn't stay anywhere else when going back to Roma in the future and certain that we will mention it to all of our friends.

From the moment we landed at FCO, there was a taxi waiting for us...that's the service La Locanda Viminale provides. From the complimentary breakfast to the attention to detail, their service was top notch. If you celebrate a special occasion they will provide you a gift. That's what they did for my wife and I during our honeymoon. The hotel is located centrally to all major attractions. Lots of restaurants nearby to serve your needs. Please ask for Giorgia and Valeria...they were the ladies that helped us. Very formal and kind on all accounts. Will definitely stay here again.

We had a fantastic stay at this hotel. The room was very clean and looked exactly how i expected it to. The local area is great with the metro 5-10 minute walk. Hotel receptionist was extremely helpful! Only negative is it can get quite loud at night.

Great B&B

Good location & a great bargain. Hosts Ricardo & Valeria were very accommodating helping us with directions to must see sights & local restaurants. They also arranged transportation from the airport to the hotel & again to the cruise ship port. Breakfast was included & offered an assortment of food, delivered personally to our room at the times we requested.

Stop searching: stay here!

This hidden treasure is wonderfully located (10 minute walk to the Colosseum) and you are treated like family from the moment you arrive.

Our room was small, as is normal in Europe, but the design was perfect and efficient, everything was clean, the beds were comfy, and the bathroom was great.The free WiFi was also reliable.

The fact they bring breakfast to you every morning was a real treat. When they learned we had to leave super early for a tour one day, they brought us breakfast the night before so we could eat before dawn. It was beyond thoughtful.

Also there is a little shared area with fresh water, coffee, tea, and sweets all day long. It really made us feel like we were at a friend’s house.

Plus, they were more than happy to give restaurant recommendations. Every single one was spot on and not to be missed.

We LOVED our time here and were sad to leave. Highly, highly recommend.

This place is so cute! Little trouble finding it at first, but once we did it was great. The service was great and very informative. They offered to arrange a car service for us to the airport after we checked out. We had a very clean room with a great balcony view, and the complimentary breakfast was amazing! Would definitely stay again.

Fue una excelente opcion en mi viaje a Roma. Muy agradable la habitación y es genial que sean dos camas para tres personas, lo cual es poco común en Europa. La cama individual es muy cómoda a diferencia de un sofá cama y eso se agradece. La ubicación es perfecta, muy cerca de la estación de tren y muy cerca del Coliseo. Ademas la atención de la chica de la recepción es inmejorable. Muy amable y hospitalaria. Incluye desayuno (el cual es suficiente) así que tiene todo para pasar una estancia agradable. Los unicos detalles son que el elevador es muy incómodo para subir y bajar con maletas y que se escuchan los ruidos de las otras habitaciones, en el piso de arriba hubo fiesta un día y fue incómodo dormir en esas cindiciones. De ahí en fuera me encantó mi alojamiento y volvería. Gracias!

Ótimo custo X benefício

Fácil localização, o que dificulta um pouco é ir até a estação de termini, pois os táxi não aceita corrida pois é perto e ao mesmo tempo para arrastar mala é longe, cerca de 1km.
O hotel relativamente tem ótimo custo benefício, as meninas da recepção são super solicitas, o café da manhã bom.
