In the heart of downtown, near the Vatican, Piazza Navona. In beautiful old building, lovely room, friendly and responsive staff. There was no breakfast but a self-serve area for coffee, tea, water, and snacks.

Fantastic Accomodation!

We loved our stay at La Maison dell’Orologio. The location is perfect, close to restaurants, Vatican City and other attractions. We even walked to the Colosseum, an easy walk of about 30 minutes. Michelle was super friendly and helpful, we were able to check in early and the tea, coffee and breakfast snacks were an added bonus. The room was clean and comfortable with a view of the street below. A big thank you to Michelle and others involved in organising the postage of an item we left behind to our next destination. Much appreciated!
We would definitely stay at La Maison dell’Orologio again if we return to Rome.

We absolutely loved staying at this guest house, which was renovated from the 1400s. It had many antiques and historic features all modernized for the convenience of the guest. The breakfast was continental but included pastries, yogurt and wonderful espresso maker. The location was nearby and accessible to all tourist sites as needed, it was on a charming narrow cobblestone Street however we did not have to walk very far with our luggage. We can’t say enough about how much we loved this place. It was spacious enough for the three of us. My husband included and my 24-year-old son we were there for a destination wedding very comfortable Linens and spacious amenities as needed. We would love to stay there again, Rome.

It’s definitely different…

This is not like other hotels. It’s easy to miss the location from the street because there’s basically no sign indicating that you are at the “hotel.” It really is more of a guest house so no lobby, front desk, or hotel amenities. You have to be okay with a more independent-type stay. The room was clean but sparse. We'd often find small fruit flies in our room. However, the location was superb and we walked everywhere.

Positives like the Location…and Michelle who works there was very very helpful and sweet and the owner was very nice. The negative for us was the expectation that the room was pretty and it wasn’t. The bathroom was really nice and re done but the room looked like a dorm room and it was done very cheaply. The room was depressing. I don’t like to give a negative review , but I really want others to know what to expect. For students , it might be just fine. But we’re in our 60’s and 70’s and I wanted to be in a pretty place. The photos in line , to me were deceiving..There is no tv with cable as originally advertised.. all channels in Italian. It just didn’t suit us..

We recently stayed here for my husband's birthday celebrations. The location of the hotel was perfect, we could walk to all the tourist sights, there were fabulous restaurants and shops around every corner. The room was clean and spacious and the staff were really helpful, they even gave us a bottle of red for my husband and a chocolate rabbit for my daughter, we stayed just after Easter. I would definitely recommend this hotel if you wanted to be slightly out of the hustle and bustle, near great local cafés and restaurants but within 10/15 minutes walk of the main attractions.

If you are nervous about choosing a hotel in Italy when you are so far away, you can relax.
This is a nice clean safe place to stay.
The staff was very nice, helpful. The room decent size and clean. The area is in close proximity of the important sites of Rome. We walked to the Vatican, the Trevi Fountain and the Pantheon.
You’ll enjoy the restaurants that are very close too

We absolutely love this place! Last time we went in Trastevere which was another good perfect place where everything was buzzing, lots of caffes, restaurants and beautiful views! So this time we found this place, just another perfect place situated on the perfect road where you can get so easy to many restaurants and great coffee shops, but also nice places where you can go in the evening and enjoy drinks. Also, literally 5 mins walk from Castel Sant’ Angelo ! The room was beautiful and clean, we had everything we needed, good air conditioning, gorgeous view on the street, and loved to have the window open hearing the buzz outside. Very easy place to access too! We will definitely come back, I feel like we found the perfect place to always come back to in Rome.

It was very good overall (3 nights, 2 adults 1 kid). Very clean, comfortable bed and pillows. The extra bed for my son was great too. The location is superb for walk to Castello San Angelo, Vatican, Piazza Navona, Pantheon, Fontana de Trevi, Spanish steps, restaurants, convenient stores. To go to Coliseum we took a Taxi (around 10euro). Great Air conditioning during the hot summer. The only thing missing will be a small fridge in the room to keep cold water.

Was only here for one night with a late checkout before an international flight home. Was absolutely perfect! The staff were extremely accommodating even with my ultra late checkout.

The room was large with a good sized bathroom and shower. I was very comfortable.

Nice but need improvements for better comfort

Good size room. Two things that would improve the comfort tremendously are a better bed and a small shelf in the shower.

The mattress is cheap and it moves too much so it was hard to sleep with my wife and vice versa.

Shower does not have a shelf to hold soap or shampoo. The stall is small and you have to bend down to get soap and shampoo.

Loved it. The hotel is very close to both the Vatican and the forum. There is an amazing coffee shop across the street. Also very close to shopping. The staff were very accommodating and friendly. Room was quite spacious. (We had a 3 person room)
Hotel is hard to find though; only a tiny plaque near the door. Fortunately, a local resident was able to point it out to us. Make sure you get their door code ahead of time as the hotel is on the 2nd floor of an otherwise residential building.

Michelle was amazing. She keeps these rooms spotless and fully equipped for a tired family ready to come back and rest after a wonderful days exploring Rome. She is excellent and texting and respond king quickly. She helped us get dinner reservations and ordered us a 4 am taxi to the airport. She was even up at 4 am to make sure the taxi came. The hotel is close to everything and our 4 person room was huge. Thank you Michelle for making our stay so perfect.

It would have been nice...

It would have been nice to make this review purely based on the staying experience but never made it to Rome due to strict regulations put back in place once more from my country. It would have been nice for the owner to show compassion for such incident even though Italy still had borders open and Hotels.com to show leniency towards regulation for non refundable bookings or to change types of bookings so that non refundable ones never makes as an option until this pandemic ends. Deciding to take this trip was due to coupon expiration in the first place, so, must leave this for other fellow travelers to take note in the future.

Didn't like that the hotel falsely advertised, the owner Fabrizzio lied and said he would refund us, got the run around from expedia and nothing is going to happen to the owner who falsely advertised and lied. A big learning experience on my first trip to Europe. Spend a bit more and book direct with American hotels
I specifically passed over numerous other accommodations that advertised pull out sofa beds, roll away beds or anything other than a real bed. The mattresses and support are just not the same as a real twin bed.
Ad in Expedia/USA was old and outdated and admitted by Fabrizzio. Wasted hours on the phone with Expedia and got nothing. I left and found my own place to stay that met my needs and where they didn't lie/scam me. Cost me twice as much but we felt safe and were comfortable

Situated on a charming side street quite handy for the city tour bus and the Vatican I would say a very good area to be based .Coffee and tea machine one Euro ,Nice overall feel to the place especially if you prefer a place with character versus an international type hote.l

Fantastic neighborhood, a 4-minute walk to both a great laundry service and a delicious bakery. There's a service elevator for people who bring huge suitcases (like my ill-informed self).

This is the perfect place to stay if you are hosting Rome. There location is amazing, as it is 12 min walk from Vatican City, 3 minutes from riverfront (for night music and food by River Tiber) and 10 min from Pantheon. The room were very clean and host Michelle made sure we had a great time in Rome on our very first visit. Would definitely recommend staying here.

It is a B&B. We didn't get Breakfast. Didn't know we had to sign up for it. Pretty sparse accomidation. The room was not well appointed. Elevator only worked part of the time. They changed their phone number we were given when we booked so when we tried to call in advance for a late arrival there was no connection. The number furnished on the Booking was out of date. I would not stay there again. Lots of money for not much. The only good part was the location. Interesting old part of Rome.

A lovely small B and B . Our room was small but full of character and clean and the whole property was beautifully maintained. There are only 3 rooms and a lobby which doubles up as the breakfast room. We were so well looked after and the breakfast which is a small help yourself Buffett was varied and plentiful. The property is 5 mins walk from the castle bridge and all the sights are within walking distance. We would definitely stay here again.

Before I even arrived in Rome, the owner sent lots of useful information by email. His directions from the airport were exactly right - so easy to find. They are very knowledgeable bout local public transportation and can help you with directions to anywhere - they speak English very well
This is in a residential building -always nice to see how the locals live
Room was clean and comfortable, and actual quite roomy by European hotel standards.
Breakfast times are posted, but if you need to get an earlier start they are more than willing to accommodate you

The great thing about this place was that my room had everything I would expect at a four star hotel with the added bonus that it came with all the friendliness and informality of a family-run B&B. The location is superb, minutes from the Tiber and Piazza Navona and yet far enough away not to feel drowned by the crowds. What a great find!

This was our first trip to Rome and we wanted a quiet B&B near to Piazza Novona as we had heard that the beautiful narrow streets and charm of the location made it one of the best locations to stay. La Maison did not disappoint. Located in a quite street, it is five minutes walk to Piazza Novona and the Pantheon. A multitude of restaurants, tavernas and little shops are close by but far enough away to make your stay a peaceful one. It is also five minutes walk in the opposite direction to the beautiful Ponte Saint Angelo bridge with it's castle on the left bank of the Tiber and Vatican city. The accommodation was spacious, clean and comfortable and Michelle was always on hand to provide us with information and deal with all of our needs. The continental breakfast set us up for the day and with our own set of keys we could come and go as we pleased.
We cannot fault this place and Michelle's help made our stay a memorable one.

Easy and budget-friendly stay

The host, Michelle, was very helpful and friendly. We ate breakfast at the hotel eat morning and she made us coffee and helped us with our day ahead. An easy, no frills place to stay in Rome.

Beautiful 17th Century B&B in a Wonderful Part of

Had no trouble getting to the B&B with the transfer that I had booked through Expedia. Fabrizio answered all of my questions quickly and gave sent me lots good advice.
Warmly greeted by Michelle who made my stay fabulous. Fantastic accommodation. Very quiet in the evening.

Excellent location and a beautiful B&B

This beautiful b&b is filled with Italian charm and is perfectly located in Centro Storico with some superb restaurants and bars in the surrounding streets extremely close to Piazza Navone. It made for a fantastic base for our mini-moon. Michelle is a fantastic hostess who is very helpful and warm. The breakfasts were fantastic including amazing fresh coffee. Our room, Piazza Navone, was large with a seating area, 2 huge windows and a great bathroom. Definitely would stay in La Maison dell'Orologio on any return trip to Rome.

Great spot for a long weekend in Rome

Stayed for 3 nights. Very quaint, great location, plenty of choice at breakfast and staff really friendly. Fantastic base to see the sights of Rome. Would highly recommend for any couple.
