You cannot beat the view from this hotel of mount etna, the coast and Taormina from above - it was outstanding. You saw this from the restaurant, the infinity pool and also our room. It does mean you are above the town which requires a walk down a fair number of steps into town (and back up) or use of the free hourly hotel shuttle, but the walk is also beautiful and was very doable in October’s mild weather. It also means you are aware from the crowds in a very quiet area. The hotel felt warm and homely and the service was excellent. We loved having a cocktail in the cosy lounge in the evening whilst relaxing on the sofas. Rooms were comfortable with a choice of pillows. Air con was on the noisy side but wasn’t essential for us in Autumn. Parking was very easy on the street outside of the hotel and free. Overall, it was on the pricey side but worth paying a bit more for getting to stay somewhere quite special.

It’s difficult to convey how much this hotel exceeded our expectations. We booked last minute without much in formation about the hotel. The photographs online were mixed. But when we were shown our suite, we were blown away. It was completely brand new. The bed was the comfiest bed we’d ever slept in. The view is the best view from a bed we’ve ever had. The furnishings and products are amazing. Next we explored the pool area. There is an absolutely stunning infinite pool overlooking the sea. Finally, the staff…they were all incredibly helpful, charming, and lovely. We spent the last day of a ten day trip here, and it really made leaving for raining England even harder. Thank you for a wonderful stay. P.s. There is also a free shuttle bus to the town and we were allowed ti enjoy the pool for a whole day after our morning check out.

This place was magical. We had booked another place and was extremely disappointing. We took the plunge to move places and Ducale came through in the min and nothing but a complete dream. The staff was super welcoming and helpful. The place is beautiful overlooking the sea away from the riff raff. Food was great, bedroom and amenities were all amazing. I wish we had more nights with them.

A beautiful hotel away from the busy town centre.

A beautiful hotel where we were made to feel at home from the moment we arrived. Away from the heaving town centre with stunning views we were warmly welcomed and looked after during our stay. Daniel was a star and provided us brilliant guidance and recommendations.. all the restaurants suggested were a hit! Our room (junior suite) was spotless and very comfortable with a huge bed. If we had one gripe it would be that there was no water provided in the room but had to purchase a bottle at the bar. A small touch of providing a cold bottle of water in the mini bar would have been the final touch on an otherwise perfect stay. The complementary shuttle service to the town was a great touch and we used it regularly… you’re looking at a €20 taxi each way otherwise.

The restaurant has stunning views and breakfast was plentiful. Had both dinner and lunch from the a la carte menu and the quality of food was high it not a little pricey.

Definitely recommend a stay here and we’ll be back for sure.

This is where you want to stay!

This is it! The very best place to stay in Taormina with breathtaking views, amazing service and the most hospitable staff that treated us like VIP’s( Thank you Santina!). I highly recommend this hotel and look forward to going back to enjoy the perfect Sicilian holiday. They took care of our car and parked it safely away during our time in Taormina. We took advantage of the convenient shuttle up and down to the town center(5 minutes away). The view and experience at this hotel is what one dreams about and Villa Ducale delivers it all the way. Stop searching- this is it!!! Complimenti to the staff who made us feel like family and very special. We had an amazing room with a terrace where we enjoyed our lunch- the food was delicious. Every morning the breakfasts were so wonderful- Max always gives you service with his charm! It was hard to leave but we will definitely go back whenever we go back to Taormina!

This was hands down our best European hotel experience. We were treated like royalty from the moment we arrived and our luggage was taken care of immediately, to the relaxed check in process and before check out we were offered to stay later (evening flight) and continue to enjoy the hotel amenities (including a changing room shower). The breakfasts was delicious, staff extremely courteous and helpful. Our room was cleaned daily and the beds were made again even when we just stepped out for a few hours. Everyone was extremely professional, took pride in their work and seemed to truly enjoy it. We cannot wait to go back. Grazie!!!

Hotel has a spectacular view. It’s at the very top so it takes longer to get to and from town but If you like to walk stairs and see wonderful views, this is a great place. The hotel itself is a bit dated in style, but There are pockets of contemporary features throughout as well. The hotel was very clean and everyone was very accommodating and extremely friendly. Common terraces and the restaurant are superb. The pool is very small and outdated.

Tremendous view from room, restaurant of Mt. Etna (it was clear one night and we could see eruptions) , Taormina and Ionian sea.

Excellent, gracious service in hotel and restaurant.

Our deluxe double bedroom was a little small, but there was an extensive drawers in the alcove closet area. the bathroom was spacious and well equipped. Street parking is free but and is in most of Italy, challenging. Only tiny plunge pool.

Pistachio crusted lamb excellent, Other meal and Breakfast had a nice variety and was good.

There are many wonderful things about Taormina. It's a magical place. But for us, our Taormina experience was exponentially enhanced by our stay at Hotel Villa Ducale. It is an exceptionally beautiful property, with stunning views of the town, the sea, the coastline, and mount Etna.
We absolutely loved our suite, with its private entrance and the view of the coastline, its exquisite décor, super comfy bed, and unexpected amenities such as free drinks in the fridge, and Etro toiletries and Etro robe.
After a day of sightseeing, we looked forward to unwinding at the terrace with a glass of wine overlooking the most majestic view of Sicily we could only have dreamed of.
I could write an entire essay on the staff, which was as impressive as the views from the hotel. From the reception office to the wait staff and bartender, to the person in charge of parking our car in an impossibly tight and coveted spot, they made our stay unforgettable.
Taormina is a very busy, crowded, and noisy town. Hotel Villa Ducale is quiet and peaceful. It provided us with the space to rest well and recharge.
The hotel is well located, between Taormina and Castelmola, (about 15-20 minutes walk to either town), an added benefit, since parking is virtually impossible.

While the hotel has beautiful views of the water, the location is very inconvenient to get into town. The staff is hit or miss with many of the workers quite rude and unhelpful and we were overcharged multiple times by the taxi companies that the hotel recommended. Be aware, the shuttle service offered by the hotel is offered at very random times and even if you reserve ahead of time, they sometimes forget and do not honor. Would recommend staying closer to the main location and spending your money at a more welcoming place.

Magical week at Villa Ducale

Firstly, i am the type of person who does extensive amount of research before travelling on which hotel to stay at.

Looking at most hotels in Taormina, before finally deciding to stay here. At Villa Ducale.

The room was fantastic, and we stayed in one of the smaller ones. The location in the hills gives you a calm setting with hardly any noice and not a single disturbance.

Still in walking distance from the town and main street, with many great restaurants and sights only being a 20 min. walk. With cozy streets leading the way and a breathtaking view, walking down from the hills.

One of the largest debates i had with myself prior to booking, was that it wasn't close to the ocean / beach.

This turned out to be no issue at all, with great (free) shuttle services leading you to a selection of great locations & beach clubs (which were all fairly priced).

Most days we could book the time for the shuttle on our request, so little to no adaptation to a set time schedule.

So you get the best of both worlds here, with the serenity of being away from the crowds and with breathtaking views. Still having easy access to the beautiful beaches & ocean.

The service is beyond great, and the staff have a wonderful personal touch and attention to detail to everything, making your stay special.

The pool and sunbeds in the garden are a great addition, and the restaurant, drinks and breakfast are excellent.

We are already planning our next stay,

You get a view looking down at the city. The restaurant is on a balcony with a spectacular view of Mount Etna. The staff was wonderful and the rooms were spacious. The tiny pool is across the street with no lounge chairs . They offer a free shuttle van to and from the hotel in the central area. The staff wasn't clear on the pickup point on central Taormina. This place was a treat.

This is a fantastic hotel. It is perched high on the hill overlooking Taormina so beautiful vistas. The staff is utterly first class, always looking to be helpful. The restaurant is top notch. The menu is not gigantic, but thoughtfully and creatively prepared with the best ingredients. Quality cookery. All the servers were exceptional, especially the bar man (I wish I could ember his name) who was so helpful with a super personality. We stayed in suite #21 with a private sitting area with a lounge day bed with a view over the town and Mt. Etna. Parking at 20€ a day was a bargain as we had no desire to drive out. For one thing, the roads are very narrow and twisting and for us, intimidating. This was our splurge hotel in Sicily, but worth every penny. Oddly enough, Taormina was our least favorite town/city we visited.

We can't speak highly enough of the hotel, we were welcomed from the first second of arrival and the staff were beyond friendly throughout - nothing was too much trouble (they even braved monsoon rain to bring drinks to our room).

The drivers were great, really helpful to have the shuttle into the main town area.

The restaurant has an amazing vista and we were even treated to Etna going off one night (mini firework show). The food is also amazing (although could do with a little more choice on the menu and the portion sizes are a little on the small side).

The hotel does an amazing breakfast spread and also does tea and biscuits/cakes at 4pm.

They also do a transfer to their sister hotel Villa Carlotta (which also does great food and has an amazing view) as well as having arrangement with beach clubs so you can get a transfer/rent a sunbed on the beach.

The only slight let down is the pool which is tiny/you can't sit around, but the seating area (on the main side) makes up for this slightly as it's very comfortable.

Finally (and very importantly) the cocktails are great!

Brilliant staff who were friendly and very helpful for finding train and bus time tables. Nothing was too much trouble. The room was small and the big, but comfortable, bed made it seem even smaller. It had a tiny balcony with stunning views of the bay and Mt Etna. Wardrobe space was limited and no drawers. Bottled water provided every day.

Town is a bit over commercialised and busy but a miriad of small restaurants of all qualities and prices - worth searching out those just above the mid range but no need to go to top. Few as good as the hotel though.

Wonderful stay in Taormina

My husband and I really enjoyed our stay at the Hotel Villa Ducale in April 2018. Service was excellent! All staff there are very attentive and helpful. They really get out of their way to make guests feel at home. Thank you to all incredible staff at the Hotel Villa Ducale, you are wonderful!

Beautiful place, I would definitely recommend without hesitation!

Excellent Choice

The Hotel had an amazing view of Mt Etna, the city, and the sea. Every staff member made an effort to ensure that we were enjoying our stay to its fullest. The service was impeccable and staff was welcoming friendly. They went the extra mile to ensure our short stay was perfect. From the hotel, we were able to see all of the important sites via a short walk from hotel and slowly work our way down to the Amphitheater. They had a shuttle service to pick us up from the city center so we didn't have to hike back up. I would highly recommend this hotel. The only reason I gave the room comfort a 4 was because I felt that the pillows were a bit hard, but otherwise bed very comfortable and the rooms were brand new as they were recently redone.

Perfect!

My husband and I stayed here for part of our honeymoon. I don't have one negative thing to say! We were greeted with a champagne toast. Rooms were huge , balcony with gorgeous view. Staff was so helpful and generous. Frequent Shuttle to town and back. Breakfast spread was incredible. Would stay again in a heartbeat.

Wonderful Place

Terrific place to stay with very nice staff. Delicious breakfast and shuttle service down the hill to Taormina. Spacious accommodations with tea time and a restaurant with very good food. You will not regret staying here

Great Spot in Taormina

We were delighted we didn't stay in the tourist section of Taormina and instead opted for this lovely hilltop spot. We took the free shuttle to town for dinner and were happy to return to the Villa for a nightcap and amazing view.,

All the reviews are right-this is as close to paradise as you can get!
The room,the view,the staff-all top notch,as well as the restaurant.
Breakfast was the best we had in Italy over 16 days in various hotels.
Totally recommend this hotel!
