I can't imagine a better hotel choice for visiting Healdsburg! Location couldn't be better, the rooms are spacious and well appointed and the wine & cheese each evening and breakfast each morning are definitely over and above. We can easily walk to many great restaurants and shops. The only possible drawback is lack of a dedicated parking area but there are several lots nearby as well as street parking, so even that is manageable. It's the tradeoff for being right on the square, and I'd take that any day!

If I was rating the Healdsburg Inn solely on location, Staff and atmosphere, it would earn 5-stars. However, there were 2 significant issues that hurt the overall score of this establishment:

There is no parking for the Healdsburg Inn. There is an Air Garage behind the building, and since we have an account with that service, it was quite easy to use, but it can be expensive. The costs added up to nearly $100 using the daily rates. When you are paying north of $500 for a room, it is somewhat irritating that we need to pay additionally for parking with the risk of not finding a spot. The situation could have been much worse had we not been lucky to find someone pulling out of one of the scarce loading area spots in front, upon our arrival. Additionally, we were again lucky to secure the last available space in the air garage lot, otherwise we would be circling the town for alternate parking. In fairness, the hotel does have a back entrance and gate that leads to the air garage, which saved steps from walking around the block to get to our car. In any event, this is an aspect of the hotel that really needs improvement.

2.There is minimal facility support for the hotel. When returning to our room the first night, we quickly realized that there was no way to turn the heat on. Worse yet, the system was running the air conditioning, and we were unable to suppress it. The thermostat had no control over the system. The staff was unable to help.

Charming restored older property on the town plaza

Charming property in a restored old building in the center of town, right on the plaza. Room was spacious with a nice couch for hanging out. There was a complimentary “happy hour” with snacks and wine in the afternoon, a nice touch. There are several restaurants and winery tasting rooms within a short walk. Only slight negative was that the staff, while very friendly and helpful, didn’t always seem knowledgeable about the area and (for example) had difficulty connecting a phone call to the room.

The in itself was lovely. The rooms were clean and wonderful. The issue we had were two things point. First the fans that control the temperature rattled like someone was typing on a typewriter and if we turn the fan off, then I got too hot and muggy. Note that this was during January not hot months. Second around 6 AM. It sounded like someone was moving trash around. We were on the ground floor so that might’ve been the issue. We told the receptionist and she said she would notice it until the manager as we were leaving on the weekend and the man was not available. I did not hear from the manager so I reached out she said she would look into a refund. Again, I did not hear back so I reached out and she was quite abrupt and said she had already handled it. So I reached out to Expedia because I did not see anything in my account. They immediately contacted her and we ended up with a partial refund. So overall friendly staff nice rooms. We really enjoyed the wine tasting held complementary Upstairs and the complementary continental breakfast just the issue with the noise so we did not get much rest and the lack of follow through.

This was a fantastic stay. I moved hotels from the Hotel Healdsburg next door (which was at least double the price and horrible) and thoroughly enjoyed by stay at the Inn. Parking was simple and free. The staff were so kind, helpful and welcoming. They had my room ready early, helped me get settled and accommodated needs for extra waters and recommendations readily and quickly. The room was spacious, clean, and had the most comfortable bed. The nighttime cookies, local recommendations, and helpful welcome packet were most welcome. Free wine tasting and breakfast were offered. The Inn is right on the central Plaza, with dozens of cute shops and restaurants nearby. Don't waste your time or money on the big property next door - stay at this charming and wonderful place! I'll definitely be coming back.

Location is awesome! The staff is wonderful! We stay here every time we come to the Healdsburg area. The physical hotel just needs a little update. Our room, which we have been in two times before and did not request - still did not have a full length mirror and hooks. The bathroom has a huge clawfoot tub and a pedestal sink - there is no place to put anything. Honestly - probably no one has used that tub in 10 years - get a counter put in and remove the tub - not really a selling point for this room.

Love the staff, particularly Kylie & Chris on the front desk, and Kylie in particular for her help in advance of our stay, etc. The main level lobby is lovely and the rooms are well decorated, nicely appointed, and well maintained. Pet peeve: hotels rarely have enough hangers in closets. It would save bothering staff for it if you put enough hangers for two guests when you are servicing a couple.
SUGGESTED CHANGES:
ROOM 3
Our room #3 has no chest of drawers, just one bedside table drawer on either side of bed. Suggest a chest of drawers, narrow and tall, placed just to the left of the door to the bathroom. It would be a huge help.
SUNROOM
Because the rest of the Inn has been updated so well, the lack of an update in this room make it feel old and sad. Shiny unattractive yellow walls, tables and chairs that do not go with anything in the rest of the hotel and are heavy and \"blah\" does NOT go with the upscale wine country feel of the rest of the Inn and surrounding places. I would change the wall color, and use flat paint, replace all tables and chairs, and upgrade the presentation of the wines and glassware (often cloudy and scratched glass). The food itself was terrific, but again a nicer piece of furniture to display it on would help enormously.
Also, the upstairs kitchen is a wreck. I don't think hotel guests should be seeing that. STAFF there is helpful, friendly and terrific though and these minimal changes will elevate the whole Inn to a consistent level. LOVE IT

We loved our stay and our room 10, faced the back of the property and was very quiet. The only caveat is the bathroom has little space to put cosmetics or space for a guy's shaving kit. This was a small sacrifice for the overall accommodation being right on the Square, fabulous breakfast and prices lower than their counter parts at the same level.

This is not a large hotel, but sits right next door to the Matheson...the uber \"in\" spot with a great bar and 2 restaurants. We loved our stay.

Wonderful in so many ways

We loved the hotel with two minor inconveniences. First the good…Room #4 was wonderful—spacious, plenty of drawer and hanging space; great bed, wonderful wi-fi mini fridge and fireplace. The view of the park is wonderful. Morning breakfasts were delicious and afternoon wine tasting very nice. The staff could not have been more courteous, professional and friendly. The drawbacks although minor is something you should consider—there is no hotel parking and around the square parking is from 2-3 hours between 9 am and 5 pm. We had to move the car during our stay a few times. Also four rooms face the square and at 6:40 am the street sweeping trucks make a good bit of noise for about 5 minutes. These are slight inconveniences and we’d stay again, perhaps trying room 7, which faces the back of the hotel and has it’s own outside private deck. I wouldn’t stay on the first floor rooms which are right off the lobby and probably have some noise issues with people coming and going. But this is a wonderful hotel in the perfect location for exploring Healdsburg. Just know what to expect and I know you’ll love the hotel.

I was not aware that they do not have any onsite parking, but rather a block away at a city parking lot. When I booked it indicated that they do have onsite parking for a fee, but this is not the case. When we arrived all the short-term parking in front of the hotel was taken therefore it was a hassle to check in and unload our luggage. Our room had no natural light (room 8) and therefore was extremely dark and you had to have the AC on at all times to get any air flow. This was definitely not clearly pointed out from the photos or description when I booked or I would not have picked this hotel. We didn't have any options regarding the breakfast, which ended up being rather too decadent for our tastes. There was no daily cleaning service, which they claimed was because of Covid. I feel it's another a way for hotels to give less service and still charge the same amount. The plus was the location was good and the staff was very friendly and accommodating, but overall, especially for the price, I would not stay there again. They need to update the listing regarding parking and better clarify the room situations.

Maybe don't stay in the Carriage House

I stayed in the Carriage House. It is not in the hotel, but through the hotel out the back, further back, then up several stairs, and in through a deck area. It's an odd accommodation with a walled off closet sitting area, and very large 2 room bathroom in back. The King bed is very comfortable, BUT the AIR CONDITIONER VENT IS RIGHT OVER THE BED! This is a hotel no-no to me. None of the windows opened, so the HVAC system needed to be on. No plug outlet on the side of the bed either, another hotel no-no to me. The breakfast the next morning was delicious, and the staff are very helpful and kind. ( Except that when I checked in no one was there to show me where my room was, and I could not find it, as it is not in the hotel). I'm a big fan of the \"Four Sister Inn\" hotels... but maybe not this one so much.

WE booked the carriage house. there is construction taking place under the balcony . the entire crew was able view our room and balcony. noise was terrible. Crews started work at 7:30 in the morning. Jack hammers, cranes, etc. Room was located in the back down an alley overlooking 2 parking lots. Had to change rooms or was told I could have a refund and find a room at another hotel. No staff assistance. No discounted rate. Was told owner knew about the problem but still rented the room. At check out I was charged the higher rate for the smaller room on the 2nd night. Upon request, the manager did adjust the rate accordingly.

Don’t stay if you have asthma or allergies

Clean, large room. We got a room with no view at all, as opposed to the photo shown. Breakfast is yummy and delivered to room in an insulated bag. But our room had no tray for eating in bed and no small table and chairs. So we tried to just balance things in bed to eat. I had texted to ask about this in advance of breakfast but got no reply. The location of the inn is great. One big problem was that I have asthma, and housekeeping sprays a rose-scented mixture of fabric softener and water right on the sheets. I had to take medication at 1 am and had to use my rescue inhaler multiple times the next day. Not cool. The good stuff is done well here. But there are some things that need to be addressed

Cute hotel but for the price they could easily upgrade the amenities and food and drinks offered. In the heart of Healdsburg, how about a partnership with wine companies and coffee companies? The boxed wine and watered down coffee was disappointing. The hotel is also very loud due to construction next door. Nice staff and our room was very clean.

We had a wonderful stay at the Healdsburg Inn! Very friendly service and a cozy room with a fireplace. The only downsides for us were that we paid for a Superior King room that had photos of a bay window facing the Square but ended up getting one much smaller at the back of the hotel.
