The view was gorgeous. They need to add some room darkening shades because you are facing east and the room never gets dark enough but ilove the Grand Victorian.

The room was clean and comfortable. Had one incident that bothered me. One of the staff opened a side window to access the room I was in while I was starting my day. I saw her before she entered. She stated she called (she dialed the wrong number although she had called me earlier for ETA) to let me know malfunction on lock. Informed her that I had no issue. Also maintenance says nothing wrong w/lock. This was dangerous and upsetting. I know now to allows check windows.

We had a lovely stay. Staff was very gracious, allowed us to check in a little early, our beach view was out a side window but still beautiful. The water refill downstairs was not working. Keurig was shared in the lobby (not in individual rooms). Room was very clean and staff was very accommodating… gave great recommendations for breakfast and pastries.

Allison and Bob are very friendly and accommodating. The area is beautiful. I wish there was a private changing room with a shower outside of the property, maybe in the backyard area. This would make it more convenient for guests wishing to stay longer at the beach after checkout. Otherwise, I’ve been here twice solo and feel very safe and comfortable. It’s a truly relaxing experience in a beautiful area.

The staff were super friendly and made us feel welcome, even walking us to our room. We got there early and they gave us a towel and beach badge to use while we waited until check in. They did not have to do this.
The building is dated, and our bathroom was clean but in rough shape. The shower is tiny and it's hard to fit in there (I am average build). But we were not in the room for long, so this did not matter to us.
Avoid Room #12. It is over the kitchen and there is noise/music/pots and pans clanging until ~10 PM.
The front desk woman made out a list of things to do locally when we had bad weather and couldn't use the beach. The staff really made the stay pleasant and we will come again because of this, just in a different room.

Our room (#1) was very small and one side of the queen bed didn't have a nightstand. The window shades didnt sufficiently block out light so we were up each morning earlier than we would have liked. It’s weird that the only way to enter is through the restaurant which is a very high end place so coming through in a bathing suit from beach across the street feels odd. The staff is nice enough but there’s nothin to be done about these things. Don’t let the pictures fool you By the way, there is no pool on the premises that picture is the pool at the Breakers hotel next door which is not on hotels.com or Expedia only available directly from their website.

This is our 3rd annual visit. A lovely, less \"touristy\" NJ shore, right across the street from the beach with a quiet victorian feel. Beach badges, towels, chairs, umbrellas provided. Fantastic restaurant on first floor. Staff and especially the general manager were just great.

I don’t think I’ve stayed at a more accommodating hotel in all my travels. Allison and Bob at the front desk went above and beyond, and were friendly and helpful throughout our entire stay.
The grounds were lovely, dedicated parking in the rear for our specific rooms was a huge plus, and add on beach badges that included pool access for the north and south pavilion Spring Lake pools was amaaaazing for our little one.
As other comments have noted - the property does not have a common area which was fine for us but it definitely would have been nice. It’s entirely understandable since the ground floor of the property is taken up by the restaurant (Amelia’s).
Our rooms were clean and the housekeeping staff were always willing to help us with little things here and there (extra towels, a rollaway bed, extra blanket, etc.). The rooms we stayed in seemed modern enough but the finishes weren’t top notch and quite a few things had dents and scratches - which again - is totally fine. Most important to me was the cleanliness - and it was great in that regard.
Location was ideal. Beach is across the street and was never super busy or crowded (for Jersey standards). Downtown was a few blocks away - my wife and I would use the complimentary bicycles to ride into town to scoop breakfast for everyone in our party.
It was a wonderful experience overall and we can’t wait to come back!

We stayed in room 14 ( we don’t recommend it) it’s too small with 1 chair and a tiny table. Not a full bath so nowhere to put our toiletries. The shower was so small my elbows have bruises from bumping into the walls. No soap dish or a place to put shampoos or razor. Overall the place is nice but the room was a big disappointment

This is a beautiful old home that is now a restaurant and hotel. The area is amazing. The service was wonderful. We enjoyed a morning walk on the boardwalk. A local breakfast spot was within walking distance and it was great.

This hotel is quaint , ocean front and in a beautiful location , our room #16 was sub par . The bathroom was ridiculously small (which would explain why there was no picture when booking ) the shower tile was a disgrace. I am 5 4\"and 130 lb and could barley move in the shower. The was water supply was abysmal and was barely tepid after running for several minutes. The heat did not work and we were freezing all night, the sheets were scratchy and I had a rash on my body for days. We left early in the morning cold and unable to shower .

From the outside it is a lovely looking beach front Hotel at the Jersey Shore. Unfortunately, we were told that there is no parking on the property unless you are in a suite. You have to park across the street due to Spring Lake laws that don't allow overnight parking on the inside streets. We had to park 2 blocks from the hotel. It's not so much about the walk back but none of the suite parking spots were in use while we were there. It would have been nice of the staff to allow us to use them for our one-night stay.
The Rooms are clean and pleasant, but the beds are extremely hard. Not firm but hard like a concrete walkway. We don't get away too often and it would have been nice to have a comfortable bed to sleep in. I would not recommend this Hotel to my friends or family.

This property was sold a year ago. For older people, difficult climbing stairs 15 straight up, no help with getting luggage up the stairs, there was one young man supposedly to help, but was not very helpful

Allison from hotel emailed me she upgraded my room snd it was on the 3rd floor room 17. Not true it was a a small 12x13 room with a wall heater and a bathroom with no towel hangers one hook on bathroom door. Barely room to navigate around the bed. Rooms were clean but towels were still damp. I had only one hand towel which was dirty & one wash cloth. Since no one was on site when I arrived at 3:00 pm I could only send an email to ask 4 more. I am in my 70 s and had tremendous difficulty dragging two heavy suitcases up three flights of steps. My daughter had a broken displaced hip snd could not help me. Don’t expect any assistance with anything. TVhad No volume control and blaringly Loud. hotel has three floors of rooms. A Italian seafood restaurant takes up the first floor Hotel and restaurant share the only entrance. Anyone can walk upstairs at any time to your room if they have entered the restaurant. The dinner at the restaurant was great until - I awoke to a migraine, vomiting and severe diarrhea until I was dehydrated. I left the hotel snd went to my daughters to recuperate. I recovered quickly at my daughters apartment . the air at the hotel was stuffy, I awoke both mornings with a severe migraine. The $200,00 daily charge with NO breakfast is way overpriced. I left hotel at 8:00 am; office still closed.

I'm 75 years old and to walk up 3 flights of STEEP stairs carrying my luggage was not fun! The front desk young lady was pleasant and helpful but I think she was either exaggerating or misinformed when she said room 17 was one of the larger queen rooms.??? perhaps our mistake was the third party reservation. The bathroom was nice and clean but you had to negotiate the encroaching door to get in and out.
My disappointment was the price of $293 per night for a room that SMALL!! In my view despite it being oceanfront in beautiful Spring Lake, room 17 was grossly overpriced.

This is a great place to stay at if you are going to the beach and will be out of the room all day. As is appropriate with a property of this age, the rooms are small and the bathrooms are dated, but if you are beaching it all day, that doesn't matter.

Our stay at the Grand Victorian was FABULOUS (as usual) although the shower head in the bathroom definitely needed to be replaced. The staff could not be more helpful and friendly, (especially the courteous and professional hostess who seated us and Sussie, our waitress) as we were able to enjoy a DELICIOUS meal - Bareli's is a great complement to the services of Grand Victorian. We will DEFINITELY BE BACK!
