I’ve stayed at this hotel several times over the past 3–5 years, and unfortunately the atmosphere has changed significantly. While the property itself is still well located and comfortable, the overall vibe no longer feels family-friendly. In the evenings especially, there is a noticeable presence of adult nightlife activity in and around the hotel, which can feel uncomfortable if you’re traveling with children or young family members. Sadly, it no longer offers the refined, relaxed environment it once did.

Staff amazing, very friendly and helpful. They went above and beyond to make us welcome and make the check in process easy and smooth. The rooms are very clean and well styled, great views and very spacious even for families. The pool looks very classy. Breakfast was top notch, delicious food. Location of the hotel was perfect, short walk to Dubai Mall and Burj Khalifa. Would definitely recommend staying here.

The lady who checked us in was so polite and friendly. We had a great conversation with her.
She could also see on our booking notes that I requested for a late check-out on the day of our departure due to our flight being at night. She promised a 4pm check-out time which was so appreciated by us.

Our room was spotless, spacious and just beautiful.

It was an extremely comfortable and memorable stay for us.

Thank you very much for making our 10th wedding anniversary what it was!

Bedroom with bunk beds was excellent for those travelling with younger children. Had lots of room. Only downside the lights for main bedroom controlled the children’s sections which means you have to sit in the dark once the kids are asleep!
The breakfast was very good. Get there earlier otherwise there is a queue for a table. Sometimes hit or miss whether your hot drinks turn up when it’s busy!
Unfortunately the pool was closed when we checked in but they had another pool on the 4th floor which the kids enjoyed. Staff are very helpful. Easy to get taxis/ubers around. Also just across the road from the metro station which the kids enjoyed trying out as you could see all the super cars.

Our stay at the Sofitel Downtown Dubai hotel was superb! Our room on the 28th floor had a perfect view of the Burj (tallest bldg) from the floor-to-ceiling glass wall… the city view was stunning, especially after sunset.

Room was super clean and the staff was very conscientious with details… especially when they turn down the beds in the late afternoon… always a pleasant feeling to come back to our room after a long day of sight- seeing or walking in the hot sun.

Another highlight was their breakfast… everything was delicious and fresh, especiallybtheir crepes and pastries. ! Also enjoyed their snack hour and happy hour that was included with our room selection.

The hotel location can’t be beat if you plan to visit the Dubai Mall… the entrance to the mall is a just a short stroll down the sidewalk from the hotel’s main entrance!

Very satisfied with our stay at the Sofitel Downtown Dubai!

Fantastic hotel which was immaculate, it has amazing staff and stunning views from our Club Suite.

Great location with Metro literally on the doorstep.

Wonderful food, the breakfasts were delicious and plentiful with a vast choice and there was a Gluten-Free Station. The children were well-catered for too.

Overall, the hotel was beautiful, clean, and had amazing staff members. Allan was great; he always asked about our day and had excellent customer service skills. Melissa was also great; she made the birthday surprise I had for my friend smooth and easy. I appreciated that.

The only reason I gave it 4/5 was because the experience at the spa wasn’t great. I wanted to book a spa service for both my friend and me since it was her birthday, and I always look forward to the spa services everywhere I go. However, when we arrived at the spa, we felt judged. When we asked for the services, it was like we were being rushed out. The atmosphere wasn’t welcoming, which was disappointing because I had an amazing experience at the spa in Sofitel Marrakech and was looking forward to the one in Dubai. Unfortunately, we had to book a spa outside the hotel.

Overall, the experience was good, though. All the staff downstairs were amazing, the housekeeping was great, and the breakfast was 10/10. There were many options to choose from, and the restaurant was very beautiful and clean.

Great hotel. Disappointing Service

Amazing hotel and facilities. The service by the breakfast staff is extremely disappointing especially if you are an early bird. Waiting times for anything staff related (e.g. coffee) can be over 20mins which is a real let down. Apart from the breakfast waiting staff, everyone else was great.

Our stay at Sofitel Dubai Downtown was truly amazing! The customer service was outstanding; the staff went out of their way to make us feel welcome, and we were pleasantly surprised with a complimentary room upgrade. The highlight for our kids was definitely the bunk beds, which they absolutely loved. Overall, a wonderful family experience and highly recommended.

Lovely hotel with a few disappointments

Hotel is lovely but it is further from the Mall than is promoted. You need to allow 15-18 minutes of walking from the Hotel using the street and covered air conditioned walkways. Also the
closure of the pool area on Level 5 was disappointing, especially as the beautiful photos of this feature were the reason for our decision to stay at the Sofitel.

Perfect location to Dubai Mall & Burj Khalifa

A Wonderful 2 night stay in a suite overlooking Burj Khalifa. Large and roomy, very comfortable bed and the blackout curtains were amazing. The 10 minute covered walkway to get to Dubai Mall is perfect, to beat the August heat. We did get Half Board. Breakfast was excellent. Lunch options were a bit confusing as very limited. We had a sunset cruise so didnt utilise the Dinner option. Unfortunately the reason we picked this particular hotel was the pool area and view, but it was under construction. This should have been advised on the website. We had access to the Residents Pool instead but it was crazy windy, so we weren't able to stay for long. Umbrellas were being blown over. But the staff are friendly, professional and very helpful.

Decent Stay with Great Staff

We stayed for 4 nights and booked 2 suites for our family. While the location and front desk staff were great—always welcoming, polite, and accommodating—there were several aspects of the stay that left much to be desired.

1. Breakfast: The buffet was exactly the same every day during our stay. The breakfast staff didn’t seem very engaged or attentive. They didn’t clear or reset tables after initial seating, and plates weren’t replenished in a timely manner.

2. Room Amenities: The rooms had touchpad controls for curtains and lights, but they were unreliable—working sporadically, which was frustrating, especially at night.

3. Water Pressure: Shower pressure was decent, but the bidet was essentially unusable due to extremely low pressure. It felt like the water flow to some fixtures had been intentionally reduced, likely to conserve usage.

4. Air Conditioning: The AC had difficulty keeping up with the outside heat, and the room never felt consistently cool or comfortable.

5. Access to Dubai Mall: While the hotel advertises proximity to Dubai Mall, it's a solid 20–25 minute walk. Once you reach the air-conditioned walkway from the metro, it’s a pleasant walk, but there’s a short outdoor stretch between the hotel and the metro station. The hotel is not fully connected to Dubai Mall, so be prepared for a bit of walking—great if you’re looking for some light exercise

EXCELLENT! They realised during checkin that it was my son's birthday the next day and offered to upgrade our room and do a small surprise for him. When we left the next day and they did the room they left a piece of cake and a bday card. The 2nd day I went to breakfast the recwption said my wife is already inside so she recognised me. Many other details make it great and the staff make it EXCELLENT!
