The owner is a Spainard who has been on Bali over 30 years with extensive global hotel experience.
He has created a wonderful oasis and yet helps carry bags, and do daily maintenance chores !
He has selected a fantastic staff who are genuinely helpful and happy.
General Manager is Balinese with an eye for detail but still treats staff with respect gaining the hotel loyal and happy employees.
5 stars for style of hotel with the oasis courtyard, restaurant and swimming pool.
Rooms are spacious with a large balcony and superior Air Conditioning and ventilation fans.
We stayed on the upper floor which offered more balcony privacy than the lower rooms that open directly to the swimming pool.
The configuration of the bathroom within two meters of the bed is a bit odd and could be improved with just a light bamboo screen between the bath and sleeping area.
4+ for location in a safe area that is very close to the beach with groceries, clubs and a variety of restaurants nearby.
We stayed over New Year's Eve and were treated to a world class lobster dinner and a amazing Balinese dances providing a great taste of authentic culture.
4 for the cleanliness of the beach as it is a bay with quite a bit of small washing ashore, though plenty of staff cleaning it daily
3+ for quiet at night as there is a nearby restaurant and club that has karaoke until 2200 hours (10:00pm).

The Open House - you left such a great memory to me! From our arrival to departure, this hotel exceeded expectations, mainly because of the service. Upon arrival, we were greeted by Cening, who took us to the restaurant area for a refreshing welcome drink and delicious fried bananas. Our luggage was taken care of and delivered to the room. We booked four nights and received a 30-minute free massage per person, plus breakfast included.
I requested a room upstairs (there’s only first and second floor, no elevator). All rooms face the courtyard, so you get a view of the pool, lush greenery, and the soft sounds of birds. The room was beautiful, well maintained, and cleaned daily with fresh towels. It had AC, a fan, drinkable water, hair dryer, shampoo, shower gel, liquid soap, shower caps, and even hats for guests to use. The room was spacious except for the toilet area, which was quite small, but the patio made up for it.
The decor - wood and teal blue - makes you feel like you’re on a boat. Breakfast offered three options: American, Asian, and Healthy. I tried all and loved them. Big portions, coffee, juice, and fruits.
The hotel is one minute from the beach and close to seafood restaurants. Their restaurant also serves a great menu - we preordered lobster 24h before. If I visit Jimbaran again, I’d definitely choose The Open House once more for its warmth and attention to detail.

Open house is the perfect place to arrive at after a long haul flight, it’s tranquil, beautifully decorated and the staff are super helpful. The pool area is lovely and breakfasts amazing. It’s super convenient and a 3 minute walk to the beach. Couldn’t recommend enough

Many great grilled fish restaurants in the beach.. but the hotel offers lovely cuisine as well. The owner, Josse, and his staff were all so kind and accommodating. This is a real find for the $ in this area!!

This is such a great place to stay! Less than a minute walk to a gorgeous beach. The grounds are well cared for and the staff went above and beyond many times. So courteous and kind. A little haven and so close to the airport. They arrange everything for you. I would recommend booking spa services for sure! So affordable and well worth the money.

We arrived very late at night but they still picked us up at the airport and happily showed us to our room. After four weeks of traveling in Indonesia, we weren’t sure what it would be like but it was a very pleasant surprise. At first, the room seems very basic but it was actually a very well thought out design. Great room. There was lots of well designed storage space in a lovely room with local touches. Nice bathroom area. There is a lovely restaurant, pool and covered library and massage area outside. Really nice. It’s a very short walk to Jimbaron Beach which is perfect for sunset and has loads of restaurants. Very hand to the airport.

The hotel is only about 50 metres from a beautiful beach which comes alive every evening as the beach side restaurants set out tables on the beach so you can enjoy a drink or meal as you watch the sun go down. We enjoyed a drink there and watched the sunset before dining at the hotel. The food at the hotel was excellent with plenty of local freshly cooked meals. The only slight downside is that you have to be very careful walking around the area as the paths are very uneven/broken and the roads are chaotic with scooters and cars everywhere. This is a common feature of all major towns in Bali.

Comfortable hotel, near, not on, the beach, also near a busy road so the rooms at the road end of the hotel would be quite noisy. Food was good but fairly expensive. Not allowed to sample the \"free afternoon tea\" advertised on their website as we had booked through Expedia (!). Lena on reception was very helpful and cheerful. Rooms have bags and hats in them with extortionate price tags on, when you can find the same for sale in cheap tourist arrests outside. Pool is lovely, good size running the length of the frontage. Skip the nearby crowded touristy beach fish restaurants aimed at many coach loads of Chinese tourists who turn up at the same time; head up the coast to the fish market, pick your own and pay cooks £1 to barbecue it for you watching the fishing boats.

Had a great stay here. Across from lovely beach and a very interesting area. The walk to the fish markets is a must do - incredible to see. Buy some fish and the chef at the hotel will cook it for you for a small fee. This hotel is a lovely family run hotel with lovely staff and a spa on-site.

Lovely place for a short stay
Lovely place with charm and great service. We booked here last minute as decided to come to Jimbaran a day early. The pool is the perfect temperature, best massages we had in Bali (we had one everyday for 10 days), fantastic food and it's 30 seconds from the beach. We didn't love that the bathroom didn't have as much privacy as we would've liked. Wifi wasn't super strong. Also, I think it's close to a mosque as there was the sound of early morning prayers and in the day nearby which was a bit annoying.

I have been in Bali many times, but this time I didn’t plan anything, I just need a break and I booked through Expedia a package and picked this hotel. My stay has been great, I enjoyed every moment, Loved my breakfast, lived my room very comfortable and cleaned with a nice balcony facing the swimming pool and garden. Staff was very kind. Brilliant hotel close to the airport
We were very happy with our 1 night stay at The Open House. We chose to stay here as we arrived late at night and didn't want to travel far. The hotel arranged a driver to pick us up at the airport which was great, considering the chaos when you step out of Denpasar airport! All the hotel staff were lovely and spoke very good English. The rooms overlook the pool but are still very private. It was comfortable with both ceiling fan and air con and all the amenities we needed. The garden and hotel surrounds are lush and well maintained. The food (we had breakfast and lunch, both western and Indonesian options) were all delicious and some of the best food we had during our week in Bali. I had a wonderful massage at the in-hotel spa. If the nearby beach was cleaner, we would've stayed longer.

convenient stopover
Lovely little place convenient to the airport (~20 mins) and next to the beach. Smaller than I expected. The room was clean, comfortable, and well-designed. Shower could have been hotter, but that's minor. They brought tea and black rice pudding to my room when I arrived, and were very accommodating in letting me hang out by the pool and in the restaurant between checkout and my evening flight, and helped me get a cab to the airport when the one I'd arranged didn't show up. The included breakfast is tasty and more than ample. Otherwise the restaurant is a little pricey, but there's several much cheaper food options on the beach, which is just across the road. I'd stay farther north if I wanted to explore Bali, but for my layover it was perfect, and I'm sure I'll go back next time I'm passing through.

Pleasant boutique hotel in Jimbaran Bay
A Balinese boutique-style hotel located a stone's throw from Jimbaran beach. Nice rooms with pleasant outlook to the pool. Hotel food, though somewhat on the expensive side, is well prepared and tasty (also try the food at the nearby fresh seafood beach shacks and at the next door Spanish style restaurant). Perhaps we were unlucky (a storm had hit the area) but the beach was really dirty - full of plastic cups, broken bottles etc. - a definite turnoff for any visitor.

The moment we arrived, we were greeted with warmth; a welcome drink, smiles, a cosy and clean bar/ dining area which is covered but open, a few meters walk to famous Jimbaran beach.
Being small, we were greeted and always felt very welcome and with a personal relationship with the management and staff, who asked our names and always spoke to us.
The pool area, right outside the room is clean, relaxing and inviting.
We choose to eat here (the food is SO good, tasty, clean, with a good variety) rather than the seafood on the beach ! Dinner for two under $30 and so good, clean kitchen, professional chiefs; not to mention all day dining also.
Just 10 or 15 minutes taxi (which reception rings for you) arrives to take you to Kuta for about $7 AUS dollars. Nice walk around the town with eateries, Circle K and markets and of course the beach one minute down the road.
Providing massages in house (right next to the pool in an open hut) daily water, DVD's with no cost (great for us to relax after dinner) excellent food, clean well appointed environment, comfy beds and pillows, beautiful garden, very quiet but accessible to the main part of bali, I cannot recommend this stay enough.
We did stay in Seminyak (great for eateries) Ubud (a must) Kuta (Park Regis was so nice too) and here. I can highly recommend this Open House because it was the very best.

A Warm Hearted Environment
I stayed for a couple of nights at The Open House Bali, and there are many plusses. Without a doubt, the best thing about the experience is the staff. They are smart, able, and very kind-hearted. I had a great chat with one of the partners, Ayu, and she is lovely. Everyone makes you fell included, special, and valued. Then again, so many people in Bali are that way to begin with, but at The Open House Bali you can tell they really care. I also got a Balinese massage by the pool and it was quite relaxing. A very nice place to stay. Recommended.

Wonderful stay, wonderful hospitality. We loved this location, with the proximity to the beach and local seafood market. Was a great jumping off point to explore the southern part of Bali. Loved the breakfast every morning. The pool was wonderful. We had a couple nice massages in the spa. Lovely little boutique hotel.

Jimbaran's classless hotel
Horrible way to end an otherwise amazing vacation. Being the last of 4 hotels I stayed at in Bali, in different regions, I was appalled at the lack professionalism by the staff. So many unexpected fees and very little actions conducted to alienate my unhappiness. Staff seems to think that guests are made of money and charged me more than they initially told me things were (double taxi fare than that of original estimate). After returning from my trip with their driver, they called to tell me they \"were sorry\" but the rate was double that and promptly, yet casually, asked how they should charge it. No accommodations offered as reconciliation until I shared my disappointment and unhappiness at which case the poor driver had to settle for less money rather than the hotel paying the difference. After all of this, they still charged me for a late check out which was not my fault after that ordeal! Do not stay here unless you're made of money! It's also very isolated with only run down restaurants nearby that look like a ghost town. Tons of construction and run down streets. In all, my other hotels went out of their way to ensure a pleasant stay, making up for small challenges by little perks or pleasant remarks to me. The Open House staff was very entitled. Not offering to redeem their poor hospitality in anyway. Also, wifi is HORRIBLE here! And the restaurant food gave me food poisoning!

Sweet Memories of Open House
Relaxing, a quiet little haven to return to after the bustle of Kuta. Our daughter, mother of a 4 month old was very ill on our last day in Bali (her birthday). Staff at Open Hiuse went out of their way to make sure she was comfortable. By late afternoon she was feeling much better and the staff celebrated her birthday with a surprise cake beautifully decorated by the chef. To add to the delight she was well enough to accept a proposal and ring from her partner. We will all remember it happened at Open House Bali 12/02/2016.

Open House is a terrific small hotel just a hundred meters off the beach right at the center group of famous fish restaurants. The staff couldn't be more helpful or gracious. Our room was very clean and adequately appointed. The air conditioner was just adequate and struggled against an especially hot run of days, but we were comfortable. The restaurant is small and outdoors, with very good food. The fly population in the restaurant is annoying in the morning and middle of the afternoon, but that's outdoors in the tropics. The pool and surrounding furniture are very nice and well maintained. Massage is readily available poolside. All in all, a very nice accommodation in a super location. Downside? Well, cozy means close. If there is a noisy family in the pool, they're not far from your door. On the other hand, if the grounds were more spacious, someone would write about the long walk. I would recommend Open House to any friend planning to visit Jimbaran. Short of one of the nearby five-star resorts, you just can't do better in comfort or location.

My stay at Open House was perfect even though it was short. I arrived late at around 10:30pm and was greeted by reception and given a welcome drink whilst they organized my check-in. Once I arrived at my room, my welcome fruit platter arrived even though it was so late in the evening!
The next day I had breakfast over looking the pool which was delish and wandered down to Jimbaran beach. Open House is literally a minute walk from the beach and laying by the pool upon my return, was bliss. Due to it being a small boutique hotel, made for a lovely calming day and overall stay. The staff were friendly and the rooms were divine, waking up to the sun rising and light streaming through the windows (room was on level one). I would definitely go there again and recommend it to my family and friends.
