The hotel was very good and service from Mehmet and his bellboys (Ismet / Ilyaas not sure what the other gentleman's name is) was excellent. The cleaning staff and the breakfast team was always polite and friendly. This is definitely one hotel I would recommend as the location and the hotel are perfect!
If I visit Istanbul again, I will definitely go back to Ipek Palas. Thank you to their team for the excellent service.

Mixed review on Hotel Ipek Palas, the location is great, alot of shops close by as well as some restaurants, easy access to a tram stop but also you could walk to the big attractions, I'd say the location is perfect. The hotel itself is nice, clean but the breakfast is limited so it was a waste for us as after the first morning we never ate there again. The room was tiny, we only had access to one side of the bed, which was also very small and no room to move, couldn't even open a suitcase in the room had to open it Infront of the door or on the bed but then you had no where to sit. The bathroom in our room also smelt damp but seemed clean. Torn whether I would stop there again

The hotel is located in a good area, with lots of places to eat. Walkable distance to The Blue mosque, Hagia Sophia mosque and Topaki Palace Museum.

However, There was a cockroach running around in the breskfast area- wgich we informed insect in the bed then they csme and cleaned the room, toilet seat broken even though we had informed then to fix it they did come and have a look but was still broken. I was shocked that they dont clean and change the bed sheets everyday. When i informed about the room bot being cleaned i got the redponse of we dont clean the room everyday abd you need to put a sign up to say you want your room to be clesned which i was not informed wheb checking in. Cleaness is what lets them down alot.

Liked the area & how easy it is to get to the main attractions.. thr galata bridge & tower haggia Sophia all walkable ..I walked everywhere from my location.. staff really friendly even for my laundry done for a small fee.☺️ rooms are really good aswell.. I knew I just wanted to sheep & shower but they are still really worth checking into..

Good location, poor room

We stayed here only for one night, but the room was really hot and smelt of cigarette smoke. There was only one plug socket in the room and that was on the wall pushed right against the bed. The room was very small, the photos are very misleading.
The location was very convenient and the breakfast was quite nice. The staff were also very accommodating and lovely.

I really don't understand the bad critics on the web. I slept like a baby (5th floor). The breakfast was absolutely amazing with a huge selection. Location perfect. Yes rooms not that big but absolutely fine. Yes shower had one open side but did not cause any problem. Yes breakfast was downstairs. No problem. Except if you have problems with stairs. It is below elevator reach. There is a restaurant upstairs only open a few hours late afternoon, with tea and coffee and cakes but I was only there briefly to check it out as there are so many things to do in the area. Very pleased with my stay

The hotel is in perfect location for going sightseeing. It is very clean and tidy and the staff are very helpful and welcoming. My room was on the small side but perfect for me as a single person. Had there been two people then the room would have been on the small side. The breakfast was very good and plenty of choice. The rooms were cleaned every day. I have no complaints at all and would happily rebook on my next visit to Istanbul.

Whilst the hotel is in an excellent location for sightseeing, the rooms are very small and the decor is tired. Breakfast staff were polite and helpful but the manager on the evening shift was not. He was trying to be sarcastic when we pointed out how small the rooms were (unlike the photos on the Expedia website) - suggesting he move us to a smaller room if we'd prefer that. Disappointing as this is not the Turkish hospitality, service and attention to detail and customer satisfaction that we are used to when visiting Turkey.

Bathroom is not fit for its purpose. Showers needs great attention. Treble drainage for shower and due to not having shower door bathroom turns in to swimming pool. You won’t be able to use the toilet after shower been used unless you are happy enough to have your fit in a poodle while seati on a toilet seat

This hotel is all about the location, right in the centre of the old city, close to all the tourist attractions. Hotel is very basic, stayed in a single room which was very small. Beds are uncomfortable to sleep in and poor wifi connection. Not a massive selection for breakfast with very random breakfast choices. i.e. chips. If your looking to stay in a cheap hotel in the old city close to the attractions and not fussed about the facility then this is the place

Air Condioning was very poor. The adjacent room for children's had no air conditioning nor fan. However, the location was just perfect. Walking distance to all major point of interest. Staff was friendly and courteous. One of the best all you can eat breakfast included with the package. No shower door in the shower enclosure so bathroom becomes very messy after each shower.

Near the Tram station

it is close to all transportation of Istanbul. If you take a cab here during rush hours, ask them to stop at the corner and walk to the hotel otherwise you will sit in the cab for 30' to go to 2 blocks. The hotel is very old and a lot of things not working properly. Beds are not comfortable at all. It designs not very efficient. I think it is should be 2 stars hotel not 4

Decent hotel close to all the places to be visited

Very much enjoyed the trip with the family. Hotel staff were very nice. Most places that we visited were walking distance from the hotel. Blue Mosque is absolutely stunning. Bosphorus boat tour was personally too long for me. Make sure you drive prices down when out shopping! Grand bazaar is nice but be careful because you may get lost in there. Overall a beautiful city to visit.

I stayed 4 nights at Ipek Palace. The room was comfortable although the closet was very small (only downside). Mattress was not the best but comfortable enough. The hotel has a terrace with a breathtaking view to the Marmara Sea and happy hour tea and coffee. Breakfast is abundant, well served and all the staff was very friendly and accommodated all my needs and requests. They made reservations for all the tours I took, dinner/show I attended, and transportation to the airport. All their recommendations were good choices. I am very pleased with the hotel and staff members. I had a great experience at this hotel and I recommend it without hesitation.

We arrived to the hotel at 1:00 am. The area looked so deserted and dark, and as we found our way to it, we wondered if we'd made a mistake in booking it. After a good night's sleep, however, and after having a fabulous breakfast buffet there, our ideas of the hotel quickly changed. The staff were smiling,friendly and helpful in every way, with tourist maps, tour ideas, etc. Aladdin, especially, was ever ready and available to answer questions. Plus, the hotel had a computer available for guests, which was great, as we could print out our boarding passes and surf the web.Once we stepped out of the hotel into the street, ready to \"get lost\" in Istanbul, we realized that the hotel is in a perfect location: close to public transportation, to the pier and ferries, to all the historic sites, to great restaurants, and to small shops where the prices weren't quite so touristy. We were very glad to have booked this hotel. The hotel is older, but very well decorated and kept; our rooms had blackout curtains. The only negative I could say about our rooms is that we had a quadruple room, the main room with a queen bed and a separate bedroom with 2 twin beds, but the only a/c was in the main room. The boys opened the window at night as the weather was cool, so it wasn't a real problem for us (June 1-3). Our flight was at 6:00 am, and the staff readily called us a taxi for 3:00 am and helped us load our bags. All in all, this hotel is a real treat.

Worst hotel experience ever. Was switched to three rooms in two days. First room the plumbing under the shower was leaking and created a huge puddle in the bathroom. Second room ceiling leaked when it rained. Informed hotel staff of these issues and was told they knew about them and were continuing to have people stay in these rooms.

Lovely friendly staff, the receptionists were very nice and professional. The hotel gave us a nice room with a balcony. The breakfast was delicous and fresh and the porter who took our luggage was very friendly and professional. The hotel is close to all the main tourist points, and has shops and restaurants close by. The hotel is very close to the metro station Sirkeci,easier for us to get to tourist attractions.However,our room (single twin room) had a bathroom which floor is not levelled,so water becomes stagnant inside the bathroom.The water flow was poor due to uneven floor.Plus,the bathroom's door cannot be locked.On the other hand,the breakfast was superb.Great food selection and it was delicious !

The staff were lovely and the hotel was easy to get to from the airport via public transport. Breakfast was included and everday there was someone to answer any questions you had and make sure you had everything you needed.

However, it doesn't have a bar area or anywhere to relax. So if you are looking for a hotel with lots of amenities it might not be for you, but if you are going to spending most of your time out and about it's great. (There is free wifi which came in very handy!)

The location is very good too. We managed to walk everywhere (most tourist sites were only 15-20mins away), and only using public transport to get to and from the airport.

We were disappointed with this hotel.

The wing we stayed we had to carry our bags up the stairs. The staff were good but we still handled the bags ourselves. The bedroom was very small only inches from the wall on both sides. The hotel was in a good position for us. We understand that the hotels in Europe are always smaller. My sisters room was even smaller than ours, and the bed was against the wall. The shower rose didn't fit into the bracket on the wall so you had to hold it all the time.

Terrible, I would never book with Expedia again. Booked Airport transfer was not provided, room was not the same as advertised. It was so small that we could not open the suitcase on the floor. Dirty and faulty bathroom. Showerwall was loose and dirty, sink was half hanging off the wall. We called Expedia from Turkey 3 times and Customer Service did not help us at all. We incurred a telephone bill for nearly £200 and we had to book our own airport transfer. Opposite to our room was a building site and the room next to ours was being renovated whilst we were there. The work started at 6am and often carried on until late in the evening, meaning we did not get a decent night sleep. 6 other people complained to Reception about their rooms whilst we were there and Reception told all of us we need to pay for an upgrade to get a different room. We felt ripped off and are dissapointed with Expedia.

Well situated close to tourist attractions.

The hotel has a very welcoming, if slightly dated, reception area. The breakfast room is brightly decorated and serves a excellent breakfast however our room was very disappointing as it was far too small to be classed as a double room. The bed was pushed against the wall and there was nowhere to put any clothing other than a very small wardrobe. Beneath the window,behind a desk,a wooden radiator cover had come off the wall but the large nails were still sticking out and catching on the curtains making more holes in them. The bathroom was tiny -the width of the double bed - with a shower which was no more than 60 centimetres square with a very narrow opening to get in and out. The wash hand basin had no plug but toiletries were provided.
The position of the hotel was close to a tram station and also well within walking distance of the main tourist attractions. It was well priced and we were only in the hotel to sleep -though it was next to a building site - obviously out with the control of the hotel. The view from the roof terrace where they served tea, was outstanding.

Loved this hotel, clean and well located within walking distance to the mosques aya sofia and sultan ahmet, to the grand bazaar and to the bosphorous. The tram line to travel further. Lots of places to eat around the hotel, a supermarket a street away. Take note of construction next door for the new train metro station, if your windows are open you will get no sleep! Top floor restaurant has beautiful views of the bridge and across the bosphorous. Great hotel for a tourist in Istanbul.

This hotel should never be rated as 4 star. 2 star would be more appropriate. My first room, the airconditioning was broken and their was a big piece of it on the desk. Initially I was told that the man would come to fix the aircon, but he didn't. I met someone else there who was also given my room and had complained and after demanding their money back got the move. My second room had problems with the door lock and it was difficult to use the key.
On the positive side, the breakfast was very good and the evening meal if you took the set meal up top was reasonable value for money and the view was great from the top dining room.

Well run hotel in an excellent location in Sirkici. All the major attractions are within walking distance. The tram stop is nearby. There are also numerous dining places and shops within close vicinity.
We stayed in a suite which was ideal for the children, as they had their own room (sofa bed & single bed).
There are some major building works adjacent to the hotel - but this was a very minor inconvenience to our stay.

Rooms are horribly small. So called superior room with a huge curtain draping over the bed is non existing. We were told that there is only 1 room like that and even that is 'artists impression' whatever that means.
Bathroom....no bathtub and the room is called superior?
Noisy construction site nearby is an annoyance.
Internet works in the lobby and in the room.
Breakfast was an alright value.
Only plus we would give this hotel is its location closed to the major tourist attractions.

Wonderful trip to Istanbul.

I believe, it is an excellent middle-grade hotel to stay comfortably with no noise around. More importantly it is very center and walking distance of all the historical visiting venues & shopping markets , therefore no need for internal travel expenses. We have enjoyed the hotel's items of the breakfast. The staff members are very gentle and helpful. Overall, we are all impressed and hence decided, if we consider to visit Istanbul again we shall try to avail the opportunity to stay in Ipek Palas Hotel.

There was an initial confusion over the room, my 3 friends and I had booked a suite so we could all be together but they tried to put us in two tiny twin rooms, we had to insist that we had our suite and they eventually gave it to us, but only after an hours persistant arguing!!! Apart from this, the food was excellent, the hotel room comfortable and spotless and the location was a short walk from all the sights! I would definately go there again (room choice depending!).

Not bad considering

Very friendly and helpful staff especially bellboy. Location is very good, central and easy transport link. One thing i am very disappointed about is right outside the hotel there are work going on night & day basically 24 hrs of the day, work only stopped for a few hours on Sunday night. We stayed 4 nights. They are working on a new train station and tunnel. Would of been fantastic to know that this was going on before booking. These works have been going on for at least a year to my knowledge and will go on for a while. I would say more or less value for money, you get what you pay for, only because of location that is a plus.

good hotel for the family

Hotel is comfort quite good staff and service only the room was very small that we could not move with our laggege while with that money we paid we could find around better room and service i think the it was single room used for double , i did asked many times to change the room for me but they did not agree to change.

it is just the location that you pay for

nothing else in this hotel worth paying a penny except its location, the rooms were very small, the hotel itself was very old, the AC & TV had a lot of problems, their breakfast was less than average.
to be honest there is another good aspect of this hotel which is the staff, they were very nice, helpful & polite
not recommended & will never visit again

Unsafe airport-hotel transfer, dirty room, noisy and windows without shades

Although hotel is in perfect location we got assigned room in a basement. I presume it was storage of some sort before. Dirty and smelly room, with out direct access to lobby, even using elevator there were several stairs to climb. Dirty air-condition with out modern controls. TV was 10inch wide, can be watched for longer that 30minutes. Toilet was smelly and drains clogged. Noisy envoroment, no shades on widows.
Worst of all unsafe transport for airport resulted in accident, collision with other 3 cars. Refused to pay for transfer that ended up with our injuries and taking a taxi half way trough.
I believe other rooms are nice but we were unlucky to have this assignment.

AC off

AC was controlled by the reception staff and they put it off at a really bad time at night & day times where noise outside is in its most. Building work outside is 24 hourse on!!

Otherwise, the hotel & its staff is okay.

Nice location and hotel

The staff were very helpful and willing to help. I never had an issue that was not resovled very quickly. The single room was a bit on the tight side, but it was very well kept and clean.
Also, most the major tourist sights are within walking distance, a big plus.
I would recommend this hotel.

a good value for money, the beds are done daily,

It was very hard to find the hotel, especially when driving a car, but if you use the train station in the area of the hotel then you are very near to it,
if coming by taxi it will be fine.
an old building i guess from the old days, rooms are not very clean, if you look closely you can see dust in the corners,
the breakfast is nice, but they charge you for the fresh orange juice 5 TL, allot of money for a small glass.
i personally enjoyed the afternoon tea that they offer in the hotel for free, ( very nice, knowing i am Lebanese, and not English)
no parking area to park your car, an old guy control the area next to the hotel , if you get to him you can park.

staff are nice , hope that they remain nice, and not go back.
