10 night stay with family

We returned from Istanbul on 29th August following a 10 night stay at the Meserret Palace Hotel. We were a little apprehensive given some of the reviews, however, our stay was amazing. Yes, the property is a little dated, but that is to be expected for a property over 100 years old in a city like Istanbul. The roads are manic outside the hotel and horns are honked constantly, but you have to appreciate that you are incredibly close to many of the tourist attractions. Do take ear plugs if you want silence at night/early mornings. Our room (Exclusive Suite) was dressed in a traditional Ottoman style. Housekeeping arrive daily and if you miss them or need anything extra doing, you only have to call Reception and ask. Breakfast is traditional turkish fare. This may not suit those looking for a continental breakfast UK style, but it was fresh and regularly topped up. I saw some negative comments about the Manager, but we found him to be professional, caring, attentive and welcoming, a lovely man. Front of house staff are wonderful, all 4 of the young men we met were so friendly and happy to assist in any way they could. A special mention goes to Çan and Recep, both always greeted us with smiles on their faces, Çan especially went the extra mile with advice on the most efficient way to get around the City and hidden little gems to visit. We would happily stay here again. 5 Star Service all around.

Great location, but bring earplugs

Positives: The hotel location is perfect, within walking distance to the Grand Bazaar, Spice Bazaar, the major mosques and Top Kapi Palace, and from Eminonu pier for boat trips. You can also walk across the Galata bridge to get to Galata very easily, or take the tram. Great location.
It’s also very clean, can’t fault that, and the staff in general are very helpful. Can, who was on the front desk during the day was very friendly, had some funny stories and was willing to help us with anything, we really appreciated him.
The breakfast is ample to start your day, and if you want hot options, they cost a little extra, but nothing more than you would pay outside the hotel.
We had a double room, and it was spacious and the bed was comfy.
Negatives: The hotel could do with a little updating. Not too much that it loses its charm, but just a little like a deep clean of the carpets (or new carpets), and adding more storage space and shelves in the rooms.
It is also very noisy. We didn’t mind the traffic noise after the first night (Istanbul is alive 24/7, so expect traffic noise at all hours of the day if you’re in the old town), but the rooms are apparently soundproof, and I can tell you, they are not. We were woken up every night by a group of ladies staying down the corridor coming back late and shouting and banging doors every night. To be fair to the hotel staff, after we told them about it, they did stop them.
Overall, good stay, great value for money, and very convenient.

The staff were not honest or transparent. A couple of times they pushed us into places of lower quality saying it was the best and clearly it was about their kick back for sending people there. Over 3 days we didn’t get a room cleaning once.

Lovely location, near the coast. Built in the 1800’s, so be prepared to visit a bit of nostalgia. The room decor suits the era the building was built in, which is spectacular. The staff are great. The rooms and bathrooms were quite clean. The family room was large, with three single beds in one room and a larger, king size bed in another. The are was spacious. Only down side was that there was a smell of onions and food coming into our side of the room from either the vents or below kebab shop. Otherwise a recommended hotel for a few days if you wish to stay near to the Istanbul sites.

The family room was excellent and really beautiful. 3 twin beds and one king. Room had a refrigerator, safe, great AC and really nice washroom amenities. The room was absolutely fantastic. High ceilings and made me feel like a king. Only complaint is that there is quite a bit of street noise.
Otherwise the hotel itself has spiral staircase, tiny elevator.

Breakfast was ok. Nothing absolutely amazing but I think it was very traditional and not my type. They had everything including pastries and scrambled eggs, etc.

Very convenient location, staffs are friendly and extremely helpful. Stayed at the Executive suite which has 2 rooms and spacious but the room with Queen bed doesn’t have a closet or any place to hang clothes. Suggest hotel to look into this. Mattress is firm and soooo comfortable which rested our bodies after long walks around the city.
There was a sewer smell in the middle of the night on our return stay at suite #206 but not on our first stay with suite #106. The smell went away after 30 minutes. An old charm but updated facilities.

The place is near korcyki tram station. At the centre of shops and restaurants. Safe to go around even in the evening. HUMAY, the staff in reception is really helpful that makes our check in smooth. She guides us on how to get to places. The room is clean, super comfortable bed and pillows. Enough size for the 3 of us. Delicious breakfast which is included when I booked this hotel. All staff are polite and accomodating. They make sure that all our querries are answered. I will recommend this hotel to whoever is visiting Istanbul Turkey.

I booked transportation from airport to the hotel. It was a terible service, dirty van, smelly, shaggy....unproffessional driver.... I complaint and asked to speak to the manager.... they always said he wansnt available for 4 days... finally manager came to reception on day 4 of my stay, he didnt speak any language but Turkish (I offer to speak in 4 different languages but he said he spoke only Turkish..
he said it wasnt their responsability the transportation that they provided... they charged 70 euro and that you had to pay in the hotel, but didnt want to make discount. lthey locked me out of my room (disabled the card) until I paid because I said I wanted to talk to manager first....never been treated that bad in any hotel

We were not given the room upgrade we had paid for and had a rude male at front desk who was argumentative and mocked us, even when we showed the room photos on Expedia vs room given. We were lied to multiple times by this employee, as well as female named Humaya who openly mocked guests.

The location of hotel is walkable to the big sites, which was the one positive. The hotel decor is VERY outdated, the lights in hallways and staircase are off 24/7, which is security concern. Beds were rock hard and the breakfast buffet was inedible, not replenished and had food laid out from prior day for multiple days in row.

We travel often and have never had an experience so negative at a hotel before. The front desk staff really tarnished our experience staying at this hotel and we would never recommend it to anyone. There are plenty of other hotels in the area that looked a lot better at the same price range.

The breakfast was 7:30 am to 10 am but main dishes were always late, they will put out close to nine and very little. I’ll suggest for the kitchen to have ready at the time on schedule.. that was my only complaint, we stayed for five days ..

Overall a great location but noisy as was on a lower floor next to a busy road. The restaurant offered a good Turkish breakfast and the entire staff was excellent. The location allowed us to walk to all of the mosques and museums we needed. It was a congested area but to be expected in Sultanahmet.

We stayed at the Meserret Palace for 5 nights and found that the location was perfect. Within walking distance to most main attractions but the tram/metro stations at Sirkeci were only a couple of minutes away when we wanted to go further afield eg. the Asian part of the city.
The staff at the hotel were extremely helpful and friendly - nothing was too much trouble. The breakfast was all rather much the same every day but ok.Lots of restaurants around. Would recommend this hotel.

We stayed here 4 nights. Location is excellent with walking distance to all major sites of interest. Rooms are well equipped and a good breakfast was included with our stay. Our young lady at reception was absolutely fantastic. She went out of her way to book tours or look up information. One of the best receptionists we have ever had on our many trips. Also this hotel arranged pickup and transfers to/from the airport. Excellent hotel. Highly recommend this place.

We booked for 1 night what it was supposed to be the best room of the hotel and went there. The staff was really helpful in assisting us to find a car parking but with no success. Went in the room and did check out within 10 minutes. As we enter the room we saw the old moquette that needs to be removed ASAP from the room. Went in the toilet and saw that the WC was not appropriately cleaned. DISGUSTING. On the sink we found hairs and again DISGUSTING. Advice: Don't make not refundable booking. Check before

Great concierge service. No iron available in room but they will take your clothes for ironing service. Room service always available. Very clean, amazing staff, all very helpful, for 20€ you can get breakfast brought to your room if you don’t want to go down for buffet. Close to Egyptian bazar and many restaurants.

The hotel is a new property with very comfortable rooms and exceptionally friendly service. It's quite close to the main Istanbul international airport and far nicer than similarly located hotels in other major cities (I am thinking of Paris, NYC, Los Angeles, etc). It only serves breakfast, but they helped us order good delivery Turkish food, then served it to us in the dining room on proper plates. Traveling as a family, we were pleased to have a choice between a double with 2 twins or 4 twins in the same room. The beds were comfortable and the bathroom well-appointed (better quality than the much more expensive resort we'd just stayed at in Bodrum). If you have an early flight or long layover, THIS is where you want to stay. We're fans!

Great place to stay.

Great place. Very friendly and cooperative staff. We request more English channels on the TV and a working mini fridge or minibar (to put insulin). Excellent location. We recommend it unreservedly.
