The staff were most helpful. The food in the dining room was very good. We were happy it was open since most things were shut down due to the death of Sultan Qaboos. The hotel is older, but the beds were very comfortable and everything was very clean. We liked our mountain view and the call to prayer from the nearby mosque

Having stayed in many of the big expensive hotels in Muscat in the past.
I had no expectations when booking the much cheaper Mutrah Hotel. However ,I was most pleasantly suprised and impressed by the good quality for money at Mutrah Hotel. It has a certain degree of excellence and kindness..Your wish is their command and do it straight away.

Customer service and location were great. Buffet food was good. Gazebo restaurant curry and chapatti were superb. Hotel was old in décor and fixtures. This is fine if bright and clean. Alas, the hotel was dark and dingy.

I enjoyed Mutrah Hotel. It’s conviently located by Mutrah Souq and Mutrah Corniche, staff was friendly and helpful. The hotel itself was very comfortable, the room had everything I needed and was clean. I don’t really need a 5 star hotel, and this hotel provided exactly what I needed. Keep up the good work, Mutrah hotel staff!

Thé hotel is ok . I arrived early around 11 am and they checked me in although check in time is 3 pm.

Staff were very kind and helpful . Location is ok . It is near to fish market , sultan palace , Mutrah market and kornich around 5 minutes with car.

There is a supermarket sbaro in the other side of the street . Also excellent fish and seafood in front of the hotel and its prices are excellent .

Tried the break fast is was normal , if you have other option for breakfast better to take it other than that it is acceptable. No much varity but you will find all the basics .

The hotel is a bit old but clean and mantauned. The water pressure in the shower was excellent although I was in 4 th floor.

It is not 5 star hotel , but it worth more than you paid.

Nice place to be in Oman. Really easy to be reached and with good conditions afterall. I haven't tried the breakfast, we had a Spar almost in front of the hotel. There are good places to eat in the lhotel area, a safe area. Nice parking, close to the main attractions, but only the wifi is a con. The space in the room is good and it's not noisy at all. I'd come back one day. It's a convenient place to stay when in Muscayt.

Great reasonably priced hotel in Mutrah

If you are looking for accommodations at a reasonable price in Mutrah then this is a good option. The hotel is older so don’t expect the latest designer decor but it is clean and comfortable. Easy 20 minute walk to the Mutrah Souq & Corniche. I walked to the giant Incense Burner monument but it was pretty far. Ok to do on a nice cool day though. A Spur convenience store across the street with fresh fruit, food, refreshments, toiletries, etc. A nice bakery and a few small restaurants across the street as well. Bernard is an amazing hotel manager and will do anything to make your stay more comfy...just ask! From setting up tours to getting a taxi to the airport he will help. Rest of hotel staff provided service with a smile and were super nice as well. Gave 4 stars due to WiFi being slow or spotty as other reviewers mentioned. Works well in the lobby but in the rooms service is spotty. Ok for email and general surfing but not fast enough to stream movies. 10-12 OMR for the metered taxi from the airport. I would stay here again

Stayed for a total of 5 nights but not all consecutive or in the same room. Overall very good hotel. The breakfast was good but same thing everyday. Beds were comfy. I had one room where I think the fridge and the a/c were in the process of dying (room 27, I don't recommend it) but all the others were just fine. I highly recommend staying in the older portion if you can, it just feels more authentic. As a solo traveller rooms 201 and 401 were nice and quite and comfy. Fridge was handy. I missed having a pool but the great location in Mutrah made up for it most days.

Chose this hotel as it was central to where I wanted to be in my short 4 day visit. Check in was straight forward, desk & floor staff very helpful. Room was clean & nicely presented. Restaurant food is good value. I would stay again as I intend visiting Oman in the future.

This is a budget hotel, very quaint & old fashioned, which offers basic accommodation & a limited restaurant fare. Overall, it has extremely positive reviews.
If one wants to take a tour to the ancient Hill Forts it is expensive through the hotel (most hotels cater to groups rather than singles) so it's possible to negotiate a taxi for this trip on the Corniche, which is much cheaper.

Staff were polite, but not particularly helpful. As a solo traveller it would have been handy to be grouped with other guests in order to access places of interest instead of having to hire a private taxi at enormous expense. Also, hotel facilities were not made evident. It took me three days to realise there was a bar

An Ez reachable Hotel in Mutrah old market.

This is my 5th visit to Oman and 1st time I stayed in Matruh Hotel. It was an average hotel with amazing staff from the parking lot observer though receptionist and ended up in the buffet servants. A quite lovely location close to many attractions by little distance, especially old market in Matruh was so mervelous. A nice cross roads supermarket, bakery, barber and restaurants. The hotel has 4 bars! Always full of customers , but nice people. The buffet is acceptable for all ages, I didn't like the beverages either hot or cold.. Coz I prefer only fresh. The hotel's Wi-Fi is not good. The below also not comfortable. No electric coffee maker. Nevertheless, I would recommend it to my friends.

Good, clean rooms. All the staff at the Mutrah Hotel were very friendly and helpful. There was also a good restaurant and bar. The location is good as Muscat is not really set up well for public transport and taxis are expensive. The hotel was about a twenty minute walk from the souk, cornice, fish market and seafront. There is also a good range of places to eat just across the road as well as a supermarket. The hotel can arrange for day tours which were excellent especially the city tour.
A very enjoyable stay.

Stopover in Muscat

We had a large, clean, comfortable room on the fourth floor. The only minor complaint was intermittent noise coming from the roof, maybe water heater or air conditioning.

We had AC, a refrigerator and flat scree TV which all worked, and a bathroom which didn't leak - much appreciated after just spending 3 months overlanding in West Africa!

Unfortunately Hotel staff were unwilling, or unable, to give us tourist advice - for example we were quoted 100R, then 70R to have a car organized for a day trip to Nizwa. (Transport only, not a tour) Fortunately we met other independent travellers who told us to take a share taxi, which we did, for a total cost of 18R (a saving of about AU$150). Hotel staff did not tell us about this option, nor give us correct advice re where to find the share taxi. Given an official tourist information office does not exist in Muscat, it is important to have impartial information at the hotel level.

Aside from this we had a very pleasant stay and we would recommend the hotel to other travellers.

Be a part of the city!

The Mutrah Hotel is one of the friendliest hotels we have ever stayed in! The staff are exceptional and could not do enough to ensure we had a great stay. Bernard is the ring master - organising amazing tours and making sure we had everything we needed. Jassim is the hotel guide and we spent two amazing days with him travelling into the interior (Nizwah, it's souk, fort and surrounds) and down the coast to Sur (including a trip to a dhow factory, walking through Wadi Tiwi, Wadi Al Shab and the Sinkhole and fabulous swimming at Fins Beach). Jassim was an excellent guide, with exceptional local knowledge of every place we visited. Bernard provided us with delicious picnic lunches both days and Jassim would always find a quiet shady spot to set up camp to eat.
The hotel restaurant served good food, with the Indian menu in particular being exceptional, and the staff were lovely.

Fine room. No real complaints. The place was a little run down, but it met my needs. Friendly staff who got me a taxi at 2:30 in the morning to go to the airport. Wifi didn't work amazingly, but that's Muscat. Overall, a decent experience. Get a larger room if possible. It's worth it.

Great buffet breakfast. Lots to choose from.There is something for any taste. Large room. Helpful staff. Bernard is the best! He cares a lot about the welfare of the customers. Even when we learned that Expedia hadn't included a free shuttle to the airport for us, Bernard got it for us anyway. He's a very efficient manager.
The hotel is not as close to the souq, or the corniche as advertised. For good walkers it is within walking distance, though the heat can be a problem.
On the whole, however, the hotel is very well worth the money spent. We would recommend it 100%.

We walked all the way down to thw suq and port from our hotel. It is a bit of a journey, but wet love to walk and were pleased with the location. It was not as well kept as some of the other places we stayed, but was clean, and a comfortable jumping off point for exploring Muscat.

We stayed here twice in two weeks and it's easily one of the cleanest hotels we've ever stayed in! The rooms are comfortable, the TV and wi-fi work great, the breakfast buffet is delicious and the daily complimentary water is nice in such hot weather. The location is also good too because there are many restaurants close-by and the Mutrah Souq and Corniche are very close. We drove, but in cooler weather it would be a pleasant walk.

What really sets this place apart is the excellent service from Bernard and his staff. They made us feel welcome everytime we stepped through the doors, they helped us book a cheaper rental car with AST and overall made our stay very pleasurable.

This is fantastic value for the money and we would definitely stay again.

Mutrah hotel is well located, between the eastern end of the super highways of the Capital area, and old Mutrah and Muscat. I needed to visit in Mutrah, and could walk the mile from the hotel down to the Souk, and through to the Corniche, with its famous fish-market at one end. It is only a short taxi-ride from old Muscat. At busy times walking is quicker than driving! Ruwi High street is a short ride in the other direction.
I also needed to move around the Capital Area quickly, the Al-Qurm Heights road provides a fast connection west (towards the airport).

A good hotel for its price (and age).

The hotel staff were very welcoming upon arrival. They even greeted us with a much needed juice. Our Deluxe room was very clean. I am glad we opted for the deluxe vs. the twin, as the twin rooms do not always have windows. Even the continental breakfast was good, considering the low cost. Muscat can be expensive, so this was a welcome reprise, especially if you are not looking to spend a lot of time in your hotel. The only downside was the bed comfort...it was a little too hard. Thanks again to the great staff!

Ok Hotel, parking is terrible though

The Mutrah hotel is ok, rooms are clean and its close to the Mutrah market etc. Just a word of warning if you are driving there. The hotel parking is not reserved for guests and people from outside park there. I think the hotel must have an arrangement with taxis as loads are parked there overnight. We couldn’t find a parking and when we asked the hotel staff if they could clear a space for us they we very unhelpful and rude!. Be warned that if you can’t find hotel parking and leave there is a long drive back to the hotel as there is a central reservation preventing turning left into the hotel.

In a nutshell I would strongly recommend avoiding this hotel if driving.

Lovely older Mutrah hotel

This is a lovely, well established, older hotel in a great location - easy walk to souk, corniche, etc. The entire hotel is very clean and the rooms are large and airy. The wifi is good and the staff are particularly helpful and welcoming. There is a good variety of foods at breakfast, too.

Not the place we expected from the reviews. The bathroom has a leakage in the sink that was not fixed. Breakfast was expensive considering what they offer and breakfast room not clean.
It cannot be considered more than an hostel but if this is too expensive.

The hotel staffs are very kind not only during my stay term but also after my check-out. They kindly offered to use gym area to change my closes and take shower when I pick up my baggage even though I've already checked out. The manager always pay attention to all guests and he remembered me regarding my long flight after pick up my baggage.

WELL MANAGED HOTEL

This is a very nice hotel to stay in Muscat. It was pleasant from beginning to the end, nice room size very clean and with everything anyone need for a good stay. Comfortable bed, new modern TV, refrigerator, air conditioner works perfect, a bonus small room with a table and a chair for a drink or snack, shower with hot and cold water 24/7, great buffet breakfast and a wonderful attentive staff. There is a supermarket in front, where I could buy water and restaurant next door for a great fresh fruit juices. Thanks to all the staff in special the lady from the restaurant who seems happy all the time with a great smile and eager to pleases everybody. Also the location is good because it has taxi just outside the door and better you can walk to several sites because it is a flat walk. I almost forget, also it is very quite, so you can have a pleasant sleep night.

Great location for Old Muscat

The hotel's furnishings and decor are a bit dated but is overall clean and comfortable establishment. The location is great with about a ten minute walk to the souk and there are a number of eating places nearby. The older looking restaurant across the road does great chicken or mixed grill. My only complaint was that the wifi dropped out regularly. Overall I would recommend this place.

we had only some problem when leaving, it was really difficult to exit from the parking and the staff wasn't ready enough to help us ( there was another car too near to ours)

Nice hotel with a great value

If you think about the price of the hotel, this hotel was excellent. Because, for a short family trip all we needed were a nice bed and a good breakfast. Except there was a bit of noise by hotel staffs walking around our room which was located in the ground floor, everything else was perfect. From the reception, restaurant and parking area all the staffs were helpful. I would like to go back in another time for sure.

Just 10 minutes away from the best of muscat. Good breakfast buffet changing every day. Very friendly and helpful staff. Comfy rooms, comfy beds, good hot showers. Good supermarket just across the street and excellent and cheap Pakistani restaurant called Sakeena around the corner that opened just the week we stayed in this hotel... Food is very good and the bread amazing. It's my second time in Oman and Will definitely stay in this hotel again when visiting this beautiful and original city!

A good choice ff you're looking for a clean, basic, comfortable hotel at a good price situated close to the souk and Corniche in Mutrah. Rooms are basic but clean and given this is a budget hotel there is no real cause for complaint. If you're looking for a 5 star hotel don't stay here. Free WIFI, good AC (wasn't noisy in my room), friendly and helpful staff. Airport pickup no problem despite my flight being an hour late. As other have said - the souk and corniche are an easy 15 minute walk downhill. Mini-supermarket just opposite the hotel. Rooms are noisy on certain nights of the week when there is a disco running till 3am. Otherwise no complaints.

This hotel is of great value to travelers in Muscat. The staff are exceptionally concerned with your well being and comfort. My room was clean, comfortable, had working AC, an extensive selection of TV channels, and the wifi worked without problems. Breakfast was a good selection with subtle changes each day. In terms of location, the hotel is not a long walk from the souq, though I was there in January so the temperatures were very mild. However, I imagine anywhere in Oman in the hotter months would be difficult for walking.

a gerat budget hotel in oman!!

This must be the best budget hotel in Oman! The staff are super friendly and went out of their way to be helpful. The location is excellent. In 15 minutes you can walk to the souq, and a further 5 minutes of walking takes you to the beautiful Corniche of Muscat. The room was very clean. Like so many rooms in the Arabian Gulf, the shower set up was a bit odd in that it is very easy to get water all over the floor of the bathroom, but some extra towels solved this problem. They serve great coffee too. Really enjoyed my stay here. I made the hotel my base for 5 nights and explored Muscat and took day trips to various parts of the country. Also a short walk to the bus station and post office and there is a small supermarket across the street, and a massive supermarket a pleasant 15 minutes walk away.
