We were visiting Muscat for a week and we stayed here becuse it is central. That said, Muscat is spread out so any sightseeing stay in the citywill need taxis.

This hotel was almost perfect. The chargeable buffets for breakfast and dinner had an outstanding variety of excellent food. The staff were always friendly and efficient. The beds were extremely comfortable. The pool was large and not busy.

The only down side was the lack of local amenities. We did not find any restaurants withing walking distance but there are a couple of grocery stores. The Lulu supermarket is a mike or so away, but it is easy to get taxis & private tours to stop there on the way back to the hotel. Churches are about a 500 metre walk from the hotel.

I had a horrible experience at Al Falaj Hotel in Muscat. The room service was extremely rude, and to make things worse, housekeeping came knocking on our door and ringing the bell at 8:30 in the morning to clean the room, waking us up unnecessarily. Later that same day, the power went off around 11 a.m., and after waiting over an hour in a boiling hot room, nobody from the hotel staff offered an explanation, an apology, or even basic assistance. We were forced to check out and move to another hotel, and they refused to refund the remaining days of our booking. The lack of professionalism, courtesy, and basic hospitality was shocking. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone.

We’ve just returned from our second holiday at the Al Falaj hotel and we’re about to book a third. Why?

Let’s start with the simple things: delicious food (and so much of it), great rooms, comfortable beds, amazing gym, gorgeous swimming pool, always clean and tidy, and well located for exploring Muscat and the surroundings.

But… other hotels could claim the same. Let’s talk about the things are much harder to reproduce.

The culture is everywhere; there’s not a single member of staff who doesn’t greet you with a smile: not a ‘it’s my job’ smile but a smile that makes you feel like a friend. There was never a time at Al Falaj at which we felt like a customer – we always felt like guests in the true sense of the word. Think about that.

There are hotels in every city that are clean, comfortable and have plenty of amenities but, once you get past the lobby, you could be anywhere. They’re a repeated formula. At Al Falaj you feel like you’re in the best of Oman: the wonderful diversity of people, the hospitality, and the overriding sense of welcome that make the country what it is. At this hotel, there is no doubt about where you are.

That comes from culture. It comes from an attention to detail that’s been a part of the place for decades. How do I know this? Because the owner walks around; because he joined us for supper; because he cares. And his care and warmth is reflected in every minute with every member of staff.

…and that’s why we’re going back.

The hotel has very good staff's with great service. Room are clean and the bathroom is beautiful. We didn't try the breakfast but it looked. Gym and pool is nice and clean. We found the location very convenient since we were attending evening ceremonies at the Krishna Temple. Highly recommended this hotel with good rates.

Good Hotel and Highly recommanded

The Hotel is good and there are no complaints about any services, Room sizes, Toilets, and the Bed was very good and well maintained and comfy.

The only flaw which could be completed is the corridor look, the old-fashioned wooden cladding looks much outdated and dark in corridors.

Rest was amazing breakfast, gym and pools area were great with reasonable rates they offer.

Good hotel w/ a flaw

Housekeeping was the bugaboo. My room was not cleaned by 2PM and when I requested it, I noticed that althoughI requested my sheets to be changed they were not. Since I got back in late and needed to get ready for the next day I did not place another request.
Hotel has a lot going for it. Service is excellent other than housekeeping. Breakfast buffet is good. Pool is lovely.

Great Hotel, Convenient Location..

The location of the hotel is very convenient if you'd like to be close to some attractions in Muscat. The price was unbeatable compared the many hotels in the area if you're not expecting to stay in a beach hotel with all the facilities. It was a good experience overall.

A single night business trip in November 2019. The hotel is really good value for money, the service is excellent, the food was of a really good standard. The hotel is a bit out of the way and I guess the price reflects the location.

The hotel was quite central, though given the size of Muscat meant we were not that close to anything without using a taxi. We did find a good restaurant nearby and the swimming pool was a godsend. Hotel is geared up for business and functions, no tourist map available, little bits like this would have made all the difference to it being excellent rather than pleasing.

There was some noise coming from a party function hire room, and i could see everything from my window, at night the palm trees looked amazing. Had a glimpse of the pool which was nice.

Breakfast was really good over 40 different varieties and switched up the menu every day so could taste a selection of food. The guy that made omelettes at breakfast was so fast and quick.

2 pools a good size, sunbathing beds, lovely clean area, a gym, pretty much all the facilities.

The manager at reception was very helpful, they helped with booking a car that arrived promptly, they also have other hotel facilities such as tour guides for tourists.

Cleaning facilities really good, free toiletries, complimentary bottle water, kettle, iron and ironing board, a personal safe for belongings. Free Wifi. Massage facility for men in the gym, should have it available for women too.

A value option and just ok

It’s was tough doing a review. It is just a good value hotel which I believe is a 3 star and unfortunately away from the highway, and also away from the buzz of Al Qurum, Al Ilam, and Al Khuwair. Although close to the Muttrah waterfront, the Souk, fish market and the Royal Palace, which is an easy taxi ride. The crew at Al Falaj are really great and the Sri Lankan Aitken Spence (Management) influence is evident in the awesome food fare and the tea lounge. So overall, it is a budget option, very basic, with good people, in comparison to the other pricey and glamorous options. Also it would be good to hook up with a good taxi driver outside of the property as the taxis that operate out of the hotels tend to gouge you as there are no other options nearby. A rental would be a good option. The concierge’s arm can be twisted into giving you a few outside taxi options and mobile phone numbers. The Lulu Hypermarket is a OMR 2 taxi ride away.

Great facilities and location with awesome breakfa

Before arriving at the hotel we called about 10 times and emailed them to book a shuttle from the airport, but they didn't pick up and no reply to the email. 2 hours before the flight they finally picked up the call only to tell us since its too close to our arrival they have no available cars. So the beginning wasn't very nice, but when we arrived it had nice lobby, clean room and interesting facilities. My husband had a small cut on his finger and asked if they had a band-aid they said no, so bring some basic medical stuff since the hotel doesn't offer these. They have great breakfast and actually very reliable taxi services run by the hotel. We had a pleasant stay after all in Muscat and will recommend.

Food menu geared far too much to middle eastern type foods. Not enough decent variety as the sports bar and restaurant offer the same thing. Should be different.... Having NO coffee shop and a very nice and pleasant Tea shop is ok I guess, but if you look at how many actually go there VS it being a coffee shop would have many more there.

Great hotel for a relaxing stay at a good price

We needed a hotel for a relaxing few days in Muscat and this fitted the bill perfectly. Pool was great and despite the pictures on the web it was a relaxing area for a drink - just avoid it on Sat afternoons when it's overrun by kids having lessons. The room was spacious and the breakfast was great - almost everything you could want was on offer. Bars had no atmosphere, especially the bar upstairs but we had drinks by the pool or in the restaurant. The Japanese restaurant looked great though we didn't eat there in the end. Staff all very courteous generally and overall we'd definitely recommend and stay here again. The price was what swayed it for us and it was excellent value compared to other options we saw.

You can get a bus to Muttrah or Old Muscat (number 4) from the main road turning right out of the hotel, for 200 OR. These are good but a bit confusing to use if you're not familiar with them - took us a few days to work it out. Otherwise we took taxis. There are some good Indian restaurants around Ruwi and it's pretty well located. We wanted to be nearer the beach but wherever you are in Muscat, it's so spread out that you'd always need to take taxis or a bus if you wanted to see the sights so the location was fine.

Lobby looks very nice with a new renovation, rooms also looks great with a new refurbishment and spacious too. Price wise, very good!. Breakfast is good and lots of car parking.

The hotel staff at the reception fully understand English and he helped us booking the desart camp proactively.
It also located in quiet sea side and had deep sleep. But it was still not too far from the center of the city and we were able to access the restaurants, fish market and super market easily. Juice shop just next to the hotel also serve very fresh fruits juice and it worth trying it!!

I am a business traveller stayed in this property for about 7 nights, It's really a very nice hotel with enough space around to feel like a resort stay, Excellent swimming pool and Health clubs, restaurants with different choices of food. If you need to buy any food items or any other things have to walk at least 500 meters to reach the main road to find all the kind of shops. There is a big Hyper market call Lulu is about 2kms from the hotel. There are many numbers of Indian foods near by, Temple and church also close to it. Its good choice for Business and family travellers.

Good hotel but under major maintenance.

Spent a night at Al Falaj. The hotel is conveniently located in Ruwi, amidst a decent residential block on a hilly road. The entrance and lobby are average while the room sizes are small. The room packs all the basics one could ask for on a business travel. But major disappointment was the ongoing maintenance and food. One needs to pass through construction debris scattered all over the floor to reach the rooms. Would have been great if they planned the maintenance in an orderly fashion, taking a few floor at a time rather than hitting one section of the whole building.
Another disappointment was the buffet breakfast. While you can find plenty of reviews commending the breakfast, in reality it was below average to poor. Most of the dishes served were clearly leftovers from the dinner last night. Soup? Curries? Rice? Who serves these dishes for breakfast. Real breakfast items were minimal. Coffee was below par. Overall, not happy with my stay.

P.S: The hotel is actually a nice property, with huge twin pools, almost Olympic size. But it doubles as a public health club, so expect plenty of outsiders

Not a great hotel. Room was clean enough but really small and honestly is not the best hotel for a holiday style accommodation- if you needed a bed to sleep in and that's it then it's fine. Booked a massage and ended up needing to ask for a refund as the masseuse was not trained and had no idea. Overall probably wouldn't stay here again sorry

We had a nice stay at Al Falaj Hotel. We had a comfortable stay for a total of four days. The hotel is a nicely located area surrounded with eateries, restaurants, stores and malls. The Al Falaj is a very fair-priced hotel with an excellent location off of the main thoroughfare. The upstairs bar is welcome, with free pool and good beers on tap, and the Japanese restaurant is very good. The gym is excellent and the breakfast was good, particularly for local food.

1. Booking confirmation stated room booked for 12 & 13 Nov.15
2. When checked with the hotel, was told it's only for the night of 12 Nov.
3. Room air con was not cooling efficiently.
4. Fridge was not powered on.
5. Local call was charged RO.0160. A service charge was included for direct dialing! No 'service' was provided!
6. No hot water in the washroom. Water was luke warm as was the cold water.
7. Cashier did not have change (2x5) for RO.10.
8. Excessive charge of RO.13 for taxi to airport. I paid RO.7 for a cab I called.
9. No luggage rack in room.
10. No eateries within walking distance.
11. Menu too expensive and so is the alcohol. Beer costs RO.1.600!

Venture to Oman

We recently stayed in this hotel in Oman. Arriving early in the morning our check in time was around 1pm. They allowed us to rest on the sofa in the lobby until normal operating hours. We were exhausted. Once the dining area opened for breakfast, they gave us a complimentary breakfast for the day. We relaxed for a while and around 10am they allowed us to go ahead and check in. The hotel staff was amazing.

I would highly recommend this hotel for anyone venturing to Oman for the first time.

Good value hotel

Good location but very quiet neighbourhood - good for sleeping well but not for going out - but taxis are easily available. Clean and well-equipped room, good breakfast with willing service. Good value if you can get a discount deal online.

Leaking Roof!

Hotel was okay for business and rate was quite low. However there was a leak that I finally mentioned after 5 days since the floor was quite wet. Can you believe that their own staff never mentioned it after cleaning the room day in day out....

The quality of the service is good. But watch out the taxi waiting in front of hotel. You have to bargain price with them.
