Then there is a key box next to the room door, but the buttons again are tiny and again are difficult to read.

I have stayed at the spires 3 times in the past month. On two occasions the room has been great/.modern with ensuite and kitchen lounge . One occasion was not so great with the bedroom straight off the main corridor door. Noise untill the early hours.

The overall building is a little old but it is worth the money. Do not go in expecting a five star stay as it’s basically a three star experience. They do not have basic items such as tissue papers or toiletries. But I will commend the front desk guy Richard. He was extremely helpful and did provide me with extra towels and offered cleaning during my stay. But I don’t hold anything against him it’s just that the property needs a slight upgrade.

Great location for the city centre easy walk to Principality stadium and Cardiff castle absolutely loads of restaurants and bars
Parking is a bit on the tight side as it’s underneath the property so if you have a big car ie Estate try and get bay 1 or 2
Will definitely stay there again when next overnighting in Cardiff

Easy hassle-free access to building in a great area ( just past Cardiff Castle near Sophie Gardens nearby).

The 2 bed apartment ( with en-suites) was very clean with good decor. Very comfortable beds. Good sized rooms. We had a very quiet and chilled stay.
Kitchen/community room was very well equipped.

Would definitely try and book again in the future.

We checked into the property at the weekend when there wasn’t anyone manning reception. We rang ahead and were able to drop our bags off at the apartment before we could check in as we had an event to go to. The staff were really accommodating in arranging this for us and even put the bags up in our apartment when it was ready so that they were there when we checked in. Rooms were clean and relaxing. Bed was very comfy and bathroom was spotless.

Were informed of nearby parking which was more expensive due to Rugby and didn't have in-out option. Property was very good.

This was a great place to stay for two nights when visiting Cardiff to watch the rugby with family. We had two apartments; they were brilliantly located, extremely functional and clean - which is exactly what we needed them to be.

Luxury apartments they are not - and the price was very high because it was an international match weekend. But I’d definitely recommend as a base to stay and hang out.

Was a really nice place. For the price of a small hotel room you can get a whole apartment. We didn't use the kitchen but looked like good quality. The bed was very comfortable and the bathroom clean.

We did self check in so the codes to access the building and the room key was sent via WhatsApp. Communication from the Spires team was great. Would definitely recommend and stay again.

The property location is fantastic, it's a lovely walk into the city and at the right end of the city for eating etc. The property is spacious and well laid out and you get a lot of amenities.

However we walked into the property and there were dirty towels on the floor, the beds were twins put together when it was advertised as a double and it was incredibly uncomfortable. The shower tray didn't drain making it extremely difficult to have a shower, we complained about this via email and whatsapp and the only response was on the sunday 15 minuets check out on the Sunday. They do say no one mans reception on the weekend which is fine, but the correspondence does say emails and whatsapp will be monitored.

The parking, there are 7 spaces we were in space 7. This was without a doubt the most difficult car park I have ever had to navigate. It's so tight its a joke the only way we could get in our space was due to thankfully no one being in space 5 and 6. If I didn't use these spaces I would not have been able to get in at all.

Room was like an absolute furnace (baby monitor showed 26 degrees in November, despite windows being open, radiators off and a fan on, almost impossible to sleep, especially when combined with what I can only presume was Usain Bolt training in the corridors most of the night and what felt like a floodlight shining in from outside.
The accommodation itself was nice and well equipped but I would struggle to recommend after having one of the worst nights sleep I have ever had

Can't give a full review as although we booked in May, our booking was cancelled by The Spires the day before. We were provided with alternative accommodation which we hhad no real choice to take due to thr short notice. This was very nice but a lot smaller and was a room only - not the apartment services we had originally booked. It is my guess is that the hotel, realising that there was international cricket on, found they could make more money from the room, so cancelled our booking.

My apartment was perfect. Comfy bed, great shower, plenty of space. Everything you could need including iron, coffee, tea etc. Only a 10 minute walk into the city centre. I will definitely stay here again
Only two things meant this wasn't a 5 star review. Hotels.com did not advise that the car park had to be booked separately. And the communal areas didn't smell very nice.

Well we stayed for 2 nights we found we couldn't get much rest the room in no 13 had a party men and women shouting drinking slamming doors dragging chairs. Then we had one toilet roll to last both of us 2 nights as someone that stayed there the day before us used the 2nd roll so we had to minimise as there was no one at reception cooking facilities werent very good no civ to drain food. Bed was supposed to be a double and they had put to singles together which the springs were stickimg out so had to sleep on top as the sheets were thin as i dont think anyone cleaned it before we came. We ended up leavinf at half 8 as we hardly got any sleep no heating in the room only worked in the bathroom which wasnt very good so wont be staying there again

Wouldn’t usually stay in an apartment but it was a nice change, very spacious and had everything we needed. Cleanliness could have been improved in certain areas, had a couple of stained towels, lots of cob webs and the bins outside were overflowing.
it offers parking for an additional charge but we were never sent the documentation to book this and thought we could pay on arrival. There is no cheap parking near by and was a nightmare to find alternative parking
However it was in a Great location, within walking distance of the castle and a short drive from the town centre.

University open day stay

Stayed here with my daughter for one night in advance of the Cardiff University open day. We were only in the room from 10pm-8am but it was reasonably priced and clean.
Positives: reasonably priced (especially as I used Tesco Clubcard vouchers), new kitchen and bathroom, large windows that opened, very clean
Negatives: tight parking spaces, need a hook on wall for towel when using the shower, there was a small bright light just by the door which stayed on all night and illuminated the whole room, the carpets in the entrance and on the landing are not as clean as those in the corridors and rooms
Tips: Free of street parking on Talbot Road. Left the car here throughout our stay. Just a 15 minute, pleasant walk through Bute Park to the University

My family and I traveled to Cardiff for my work. It was our first time using a serviced apartment and I wouldn’t hesitate to do it again. My son is a year old and enjoyed pottering around the apartment which was child friendly except for the bin cupboards which we couldn’t expect to be anywhere else. The rooms were comfortable and I had a good night’s sleep for the week. My only complaint would be that the apartment wasn’t as clean as it could have been. Dead bugs have been left smeared on walls or stuck in the blinds and my son found old remnants of food under the bed which I had to wrestle out of his grip. It would also have been appreciated to get additional towels/a clean during the week but I don’t know if I should have requested that. Overall a lovely stay and I would visit again! The parking in the hotel is quite tight but we got there in the end!

The apartment itself was very spacious and clean. The bed was very comfortable, with little to no outside noise to disrupt sleep.

Reception isn’t open on weekends but there was great communication from staff giving me information of how to access anything I needed.

It’s a walkable distance into the town centre, Castle and Cardiff Central station, therefore offering places nearby to get any food, shopping etc.

The apartment had a great location, easy walk into town but in a quiet street so away from the noise. Not far from the castle and park also.

A wonderful apartment with everything you need right in the city centre (10 minute walk to the central hub!).
Everything is modern and spotless- the bed isn't the most comfortable and the location of the room (I was in the front of the building) meant it was fairly loud- all nit picking and easily fixable.

Very convenient location. Clean, tidy and well equipped. Comfortable beds and good heating. Only minor complaint is that every door was on fire closure so all of them were closed unless propped open. This made it noisy every time someone came in or out of a room including the bathrooms. Plus made it quite enclosed and not a very open flat when sharing with people..
