This resort was beautiful BUT there were not enough things to do. Food was super salty. My room bracelet key stopped working multiple times. Wasn’t enough staff for assistance. Ordered a cabana and was promised a bottle and it took hours to receive.

The property was not maintained. The cleaning service was not consistent. There was only 1 coffee shop for the whole resort. The steak house restaurant was a disaster. Waiting time was so long. There were only refilled bottles of water. The beach was so dirty. We spent more than a hour at check in. Ac was not working properly. The room was smelling bad and was very dirty.

I think the most unique thing about this property is the staff. Everyone we interacted with was so nice and helpful.it was by far the most family friendly resort we’ve been to, wish we’d discovered it earlier! There are sooooo many pools, the kids pool area was not gross and didn’t make you feel like you were giving up part of your vacation stuck in the B tier pools. Just as good and pleasant as the adult side. We did the diamond club, I think it was worth it. Our butler, Gina, was FANTASTIC. The food was better than places we’ve been that had a gourmet food experience, which was wild. Going to the buffet is usually a complete last resort for us, but here-it’s great. This is picky-but I was not impressed by the spa. Lots of price discount funny business-talking to other people-they paid a lot less for the same service AND there were a few upsale attempts during the actual service which I didn’t want to deal with since I was trying to enjoy what I’d already paid for. And relax. And this is everywhere in riviera maya right now, but there’s a lot of stinky seaweed with bugs that will bite you. We just avoided the beach. Those are the only two things I can think of that were not perfect, so that’s pretty good!

The property was very nice and clean, however our experience was over taken with the “ concierge” that was offered to us to help us while we were there for things like reservations. Upon arrival a “ concierge” was assigned to us. Then his 1.5 hour spill ended up like a time share pitch. All we wanted to do was get in the pool after a long day of traveling. He badgered us until finally we had to get very direct with him and say no to him and his people over 10 times. Very high pressure! I would have given this overall experience 5 stars minus the “ concierge”. My advise is say No, No, No and do not even engage with them. You can make your own reservations on the app.
The other group to watch out for is Nexus Tours, the onsite excursion booking team. Be 100% sure you and ALL of your party will make the excursion that you book because they charge your room at the time of booking and there are absolutely NO Changes or REFUNDS. They will blame it on a language barrier if you try to change anything.
Also, note that all transportation changes in times or days have to be done within 48 hours. Our plane was delayed so we could not make any changes to the transportation we book with this package. We lost our money and had to book a taxi for $150 for 6 people
At a later time. I would encourage people
To not book you transportation back to the airport until the day of due to any airline delays. The hotel can get you a taxi within 10 minutes and it was great service.

I enjoyed my time at the Royalton Rivera Cancun.
The Staff, Food, Pool was great, Uncomfortable cannot say if I will stay again. Because of the ants in the room.
Housekeeping came to room TWO time to clean up the ants. But I continually to see ants every day of my stay.
That was not uncomfortable.

The facility itself was nice, but the restaurant service was terrible—extremely slow and at times felt intentionally understaffed to cut costs. The only consistently good dining option was the buffet.

The pool bars and food trucks, including the Diamond Club area, closed at 5 p.m. and 6 p.m., even on weekends, which is a ridiculous schedule for a resort. The bars were not stocked daily; we learned they only restock once a week. We stayed for five days, and every single day we ran into shortages—either something was unavailable or we were told they had just run out.

As the days went on, the pattern repeated: drinks and food items missing, slow service, and overall poor management of the dining areas. It was very disappointing and ultimately made this a place we would not recommend.

Check-in - I was told by the front desk employee that I would be getting two queen size beds Ocean view. As I entered the room, it was a king size bed, pool view, slight ocean view, which I was fine with the view, but not the bedding.
They changed my room to two queen size beds with an ocean view however it was a roof view. That’s all you saw was a roof.. so I went downstairs and advised them. Then they move my room to two queen size beds with tree view and I was tired of going back-and-forth with them so I just settled.

The staff - Daniel who works at the front desk was rude and was speaking in Spanish to his coworker about me and I responded in Spanish because he didn’t think I knew Spanish. Besides him, everyone else was very kind, pleasant and friendly.

The spa - I got an amazing massage with Evelyn. Thank you for making me feel good. The spa was very clean and peaceful.

Food - 3 out of 10 .. The buffet was better than all the restaurants. We were able to eat at the Italian restaurant for lunch, which was amazing. If we found the Italian restaurant sooner, we would’ve probably eaten there every day.

Beach - was full of sargassum. Was not their fault that is nature.

I didn’t go with any kids however the kid pool area was super cute.

Entertainment could have been a little better but the World Cup was playing.

First of all, I booked a suit with balcony jacuzzi and ocean front view. The suit I got had partial ocean view. They wanted me to pay an additional $600 for water front. Not only that, the front desk manager, Soul was very rude about it. When I told him you just lost a customer, he said it’s Ok!
Second, when leaving the resort, they hold you hostage! The only way to leave the resort is by taking their taxi and pay their fees, which is double!
Otherwise, the resort is ok. The food was good and clean.

We booked this property and my husband had stayed previously and had a few issues with his stay. They refused to allow us to stay and did not provide a refund. I feel like I was stole from. Being that they didnt allow him in the property they shoukd be returning our funds its not acceptable!

Hello past and future guests,
We are seasoned travellers and have stayed at resorts in Mexico like Planet Hollywood (Royalton) and Hilton Mar Caribe. Booking through Expedia was easy, and we travelled the first week of June 2026, flying Porter via Pearson to Cancun. We arranged private transfers with Nexus, which went smoothly.
We loved our stay at Royalton Riviera Cancun, where we had a two-bedroom presidential swim-out suite and upgraded to Diamond Club. The resort was very clean, well-maintained, and the staff were friendly and attentive.
Food options were plentiful. Our favourites were Zen, Grazie, and the Caribbean restaurant. The buffet even featured lobster one night. However, the Hunter Steakhouse was disappointing. Room service was good but often took about an hour. Diamond Club perks, like the lounge and quieter breakfast restaurant, were worth it.
Each pool had a different atmosphere, from party vibes to quieter spaces like the Diamond pool. Evening entertainment, the sports bar, and the disco were enjoyable.
Special thanks to Juan at the Diamond pool and our butlers Mauricio, Eduardo, and Irving, who made the stay exceptional.
A final tip: relax and don’t over-plan. Issues may happen—we had check-in problems, a flooded room, sand flea bites, and sargassum—but everything was handled quickly.

This was my 9th all inclusive trip & our 2nd time at this resort. It’s good for kids & adults. We went mid May. Resort is clean & up to date.

Food is great! Was able to get a dinner reservation every night except the first night. My top 3 restaurants were Zen Teppenyaki, Taj & Caribbean restaurant. One of my top all-inclusive resorts for food!

Pools are nice & many to choose from. Activities were going on most of the day at the main pool. Quite pools too if you prefer that. The kids splash pad & slides were perfect for our 4 y/o. It’s safe for them to play on their own while you watch from the side. Lots of chairs & umbrellas. We got 4 chairs everyday, any time of day, without a problem.

We didn’t go to the beach once, it has a lot of seaweed. It has a large nice sandy area but we just prefer the pool vibes so it didn’t matter to us.

Lots of entertainment. They have daily pool activities & 2 foam parties during the week. They have something going on at the theatre every night including a white party, neon party, MJ show & fire show.

It’s great for kids! Lots of kids activities daily. My 4 y/o loved the splash pad & slides. There’s also a floating obstacle course for older kids that he also enjoyed.

Service was good, Friendly staff. Drinks can be inconsistent but it’s a huge resort so that’s expected. Bottled water has to be ordered to room.

Bring tumbler cups.

Overall a great resort! 7.5/10

The room is basically clean. However, my mini fridge is out of order and there’s part missing from the bath tub. These eventually got fixed in the 2nd and 3rd day. The staffs are helpful though it takes time (maybe hours) to follow up & fix the issues.

Food wise, there are actually quite a number of restaurants in the resort, but 2 are closing on Tue which makes us hard to reserve for dinner on Tue (we could only do walk-in and wait for 1.5 hrs). And you can only make 2 days reservations in the app which it’s not possible to book the tables in advance if we are staying for multiple nights. We are also quite disappointed for limited choices of lunch, I.e. most of the restaurants serves dinner only. For the buffets, I appreciate to see new dishes serving every time though some tastes could be improved.

Facility wise, the children enjoys the pools. The adults join some of the activities planned which are quite engaging.

I suggest that the custom service can briefly explain verbally during check-in or send some tips for the travellers about the reservation process before check-in.

Overall it’s still a pleasant stay. My friends & family could relax and have some fun during vacation. But we anticipate to see some improvements next time.

Spa was good but rushed. At the appointment time we were there but the spa reception couldn't find it in their schedule. There was another problem that someone else's name was showing up on their system when they signed us in so there was a delay till that was sorted out. It wasn't our fault, Because of this delay we were rushed through the hydrotherapy and they skipped some of the water pools, which was not appreciated.

Most of the hotel staff dont speak english at all so it was frustrating as hell the buffet area had a terrible smell and the food was not good very average for a 5 star. I will never ever return to a Royalton dont care where it is they all about upselling. We paid to updrade our room to Ocean view but the beach was not the greatest and the water had a very strong smell. overall, I will give this property a three star there's no way for five star. I'm just really disappointed at how the staff they were very rude. They tried to keep me hostage by letting me know that I cannot have anyone picking me up from the hotel and my options were to take their cab which cost US$60 one way to get to the Hotel zone being the fact that they are in nowhere like I mean in the woods and it takes a long time driving from the resort just out to the main roads why would anyone have a problem with somebody coming in to pick up a guest who gives Sole permission to whoever is picking them up? I do understand the safety is a concern, but if the guest is willing to sign themselves out, why are you trying to hold them as a hostage and I'm really disappointed I will never ever ever return to another Royalton and I definitely gonna take this even further because the food the water around the property the entertainment around the property. There's just nothing five star. I'm sorry nothing. suggestion for those who really want to go to this property ensure they have a rental car because its costly by cabs.

The check-in process was horrible for me. I arrived early ( before the 3pm check-in) and was told I had to wait. I had to wait 5 hours before I was able to check in. I saw others being checked in and later I found out others who checked in after me got a room similar to mine. After I got my room it smelled like it was closed off and smelled. There rest of my experience was good. Great staff and facilities. They need a better process to check guest in.

I had read online that it is so hard to book dinners at restaurants so I was proactive about this and informed the staff about it and they seemed to agree that it’s hard to book? We were 5 people so not a huge group and we had a hard time booking any dinner at any time or restaurant we wanted we either got a restaurant we didn’t like or very late times especially during the entertainment activities they do from 8-9pm. We also were told that we had a reservation at the stakehouse one day and we went there and they had no record of it so we had to go to the open buffet. The buffet food was mid. The drinks were so mid as well. I would not go back here again

A special thank you to our Expedia guide, Victor/Yeal Cobà, for the outstanding service and support throughout our stay. Victor helped us a lot by arranging different restaurant reservations each day exactly as per our requests, which made our vacation even more special.
Our stay at Royalton Riviera was absolutely beautiful. We truly enjoyed every moment and experienced some of the friendliest and most welcoming staff we have ever met. The food was delicious, the chefs were incredibly kind, and all the restaurants were very clean and well maintained.
The entire resort is designed wonderfully, with amazing night activities and entertainment every single day. The water activities were also fabulous and added so much fun to our trip.
Overall, it was a perfect vacation experience, and we would highly recommend Royalton Riviera Cancun to anyone visiting Cancun. Just need to improve Check-in and Check-out process. Thank you once again for making our trip so memorable!

We had an excellent experience overall, and a big part of that was thanks to Victor Garcia. He went above and beyond to help us throughout our stay and made our experience truly enjoyable. His professionalism, kindness, and willingness to assist made a huge difference, and we really appreciated all of his support.

The only negative part of our experience was during checkout. Unfortunately, the reception staff at that time were very rude and aggressive, which left us disappointed. However, Victor stepped in immediately, handled the situation professionally, and helped resolve everything smoothly.

Overall, we had a wonderful stay thanks to Victor’s exceptional customer service, despite the unpleasant checkout experience.

I believe Expedia member would better treat , but I was wrong , they give room next to laundry room and while night getting noise, also when we advice staff they don't understand and some of them talk rough. After few day I got shift to new room , where washroom handle broken. Also pool side pizza and fries only available during 1 to 4 pm , it wasnt busy time but due only two small pool cart and they quickly got out of food , every we stand up line but when we got turn we been told all finish , pizza slices only was available 2 days , after something wrong on the system,it was closed at pool side never been seen open since we left , room service took 1hr after reminder few time , pool been closed after 7pm which we don't like at all , during hit weather we try to avoid afternoon and we do evenings time but that time we been asked to come out pool as it been closed .

I didn't realize this when we booked, but the hotel had a dedicated concierge for Expedia guests. Our concierge, Victor, did an amazing job. He greeted us when we first arrived at check-in and provided us with his cell phone number to text with any needs we may have. He booked us at the restaurants for every night of our stay, which was excellent.

This is our 4th time staying at a Royalton property and this experience was very disappointing. First Expedia states the accommodations come with $300 room credit you have to listen to a 3 hour sales pitch the join a Marriott reward program then at the end they still don’t give you the $300 credit. When questioned about this at checkout staff stated multiple people have had this same issue and to leave a review. We booked a jacuzzi terrace suite the jacuzzi was dirty upon arrival then once cleaned brown ice cold water came out. The jacuzzi tub in the room also did not have hot water. The excursions they sell you at the resort are not what they say they are we booked an excursion that included snorkeling when we got there we were told snorkeling was cancelled and was not offered even a partial refund. Everywhere you turn someone is trying to sell you something even if you declined while walking past 15 minutes earlier. There were raccoons roaming the halls and stairwells at night the entire resort smelled like sewage. Everything was very rushed if you got up from your table after eating to get dessert your table will be cleared and someone else will be sitting there. We booked a massage that comes with usage of the entire spa including hydro massage sauna hot tubs that all was rushed and monitored with staff telling you where you can go and how long. We did not received the entire 50 minutes allotted for either the massage or spa amenities.

Exquisite, beautiful resort, amazing staff, resourceful and the fact that you guys have activities and events in the resort everyday from morning to evening to accomodate everyone, that stood out for us...the app for Royalton👌helps you figure out so much during your stay. The Marche restrauntè, amaaaaaazing food... We loved everything, almost added a couple of days actually😁.

Just one or two things to improve. The smell in the air, i was told by a staff its coming from the jungle close by, but i wish you guys could figure that part out coz that was a major problem and the escalator going to the main lobby was not working in our entire stay.

Besides that, we will definetely be back! It was so so beautiful...worth every penny!😍😍😍

Soy una turista frecuente de la cadena de los Royalton. He visitado en varias ocasiones los que tienen en Punta cana y es la segunda vez que voy a los de Cancún. Cabe recalcar que la limpieza está excelente. La comida del buffet está maravillosa. Hay mucha variedad y la verdad deliciosa, los restaurantes han perdido mucha calidad el servicio en el spa 100% recomendado, pero el servicio general en el hotel, la atención de los trabajadores en los restaurantes, pésimo si tuviera que dar un número en por ciento daria un 15%, en comparación con la misma cadena hotelera en Punta Cana. En fin, en mi maneras de pensar sólo necesitan enfatizar más en ser más Corteces amables, puesto que ellos están ofreciendo un servicio a un turismo internacional. Sí, tengo que destacar sin dudas al trabajador Andy García y a la señora Graciela qué trabaja en el bar de la piscina, sinceramente fueron las únicas dos personas que nos hicieron sentir bien.

We will remember her forever.

Even though we are rating it a 5, we did not like the mini bar. I had to call and chat several times just so they would bring us a beer. For an all inclusive, you should stock with beer even after you have requested it. The last two out of three days no beer was stocked in the mini bar

Rooms are nice and food is good. The kids pool area is great. Good place for families. The beach was not good but obviously they can’t control the seaweed and how rough it was. The beach seating was nice but we spent almost all our time at the kids splash pad area. The dinner reservations are a nightmare. This is the one real issue I have. Arrived on a Saturday and couldn’t get a dinner reservation at one of the restaurants until 9:30pm on Thursday on their app. That is ridiculous. I managed to get reservations but only because I booked through Expedia and they have Expedia members onsite working for you. I did have to call twice to get my daughter’s bed made up the first day. The bellhop called when we checked in around 5pm to have the pullout bed made up. We went to dinner enjoyed the shows and at 10pm when we got back to our room it wasn’t done. I would go back especially at the price point I paid.

We had an amazing stay! The hotel itself was great, and the staff truly made the experience even better—everyone was friendly, attentive, and welcoming. The entertainment team was fantastic and kept the energy up the entire time.

The unlimited towel service was hands down a highlight—absolutely top-notch. The bathrooms throughout the resort were very well maintained and consistently clean, which we really appreciated.

The only downside was the limited food options available by the outside pool. Aside from that, everything exceeded our expectations. We would definitely come back

They oversold the hotel they put me in the back of the hotel where I couldn’t see anything but bushes the staff was rude. I could never get a dinner reservation at any of the restaurants. Everything was already reserved the concierge no one could help us. It was not worth my money. Would I advise anyone to stay here. No, I would not.

This was my fifth stay at Royalton Riviera Cancun, and unfortunately my worst experience.
Despite having many restaurants, we couldn’t get seating at any of them and ended up eating at the buffet every day. Staff at the front desk were not helpful in resolving this.
We were also rushed into booking an excursion poolside without proper explanation of the cancellation policy. When we tried to cancel the next day, we were still charged, which felt very misleading.
Very disappointing, especially as a repeat guest. I will not be returning.

We returned to the Royalton after 10 years and boy was absolutely everything different. Our experience was the complete opposite of the first time we were there. The food was lacking, the service was terrible and they double charged my sister for spa services that she never used. They were refused to remove the double charges and told us that the spa was independent from the hotel, which makes absolutely no sense. We had to leave as we were catching our flight and they refuse to give us the checkout ticket until we paid even though we didn’t utilize those services. Every time we would ask a question they would send us a guest services who was not helpful at all. Honestly, it was a horrible experience and it was 24 of us celebrating my parents 50th anniversary. We are very disappointed. Never coming back.

We just got back yesterday and spent four nights at the hotel. This was our first time. other reviews that I had read talked about an odor and there was a little bit of that I think because it’s so humid the drawers in the rooms have a musty smell, and I did smell what people have talked about as sewage odor a couple times, mostly when I was walking down the stairwell, but in general, there wasn’t any major issues with that. The staff were wonderful and very attentive and there was no high pressure to get us to do anything we didn’t want to do. We were happy about the buffet. It was very big with a lot of options. We went to two restaurants. The Indian restaurant was excellent. We also went to the steakhouse and my son is the only steak lover, but he enjoyed it a lot. They did a great job with entertainment throughout the day and evening. One benefit of booking through Expedia that I was not expecting was your own Expedia concierge person they took care of our reservations for us which I think would’ve been difficult. I heard people talking about how hard it was for them to make reservations, but we had no problem at all thanks to our Expedia concierge. The other benefit was that the pool chairs were actually marked and reserved for Expedia guests. This is a huge bonus, otherwise you have to get downstairs before 7:30 or all the prime spots are taken already. There were plenty of options to eat by the pools outside as well. Overall, we did have a very nice time.

My wife and I were at this resort March 29 - April 2nd and we will never be back. You’ll be asked to join a meeting for timeshare as soon as you get there; turn it down. It’s a waste of time. The rooms; we had the walk out room into a pool and they are just rooms. You can’t use the beach right now because of the seaweed. The workers there are not friendly they will give you a fake smile and unless you have a 10 or 20 in front of you, good luck getting served. I’ve never seen anything like it. Food is not good at all other than the outside pizza making restaurant which is delicious. Casino is rigged. I know people will laugh and go try it themselves. I promise you will lose every time. Drinks are so watered down. I could have 50 chocolate monkeys and it not affect me at all. I watched how much alcohol was put into a drink and it was not even a shot worth. They do try to get your money in any way possible I went to the little store in the resort and I wanted licorice and a Milky Way just two simple things and they wanted $21 for that insane. They do have a nightclub, but other than that, there’s nothing to do at night. The shows they put on they OK but if you’ve seen one at another resort, you’ve seen them all. We’ve stayed at many resorts and I could promise you you can find much nicer and more affordable than this place.

Property grounds were well maintained. Room had to be changed due to the first room swim out pool was not clean. Room had a lot of mosquitoes every night which was a problem. I think this is due to cleaning staff leaving doors and outdoor sliders open while they cleaned. Staff - Andy at Expedia Conceirge was great in helping us navigate that and any questions we had. Jorge and Leydi at the pool area for drinks were amazing their service was great. Food was ok - best restaurants was Italian and Japanese.

Lots of options for break/lunch/dinner. Restaurants were fantastic! Italian/TexMex/Agavei my favs. That is the only highlight, to be honest. Beach is not swimable. Didn't get to visit the breakfast buffets as I prefer my room in the AM, but room service was absolutely horrible.The personal (the one the speaks good english) very impatient, to the point of rude and dismissive. I upgraded to Diamond, and wasn't worth it at all. No additional benefit desipite what i paid for. $$$ Didnt get the \"butler service\", or any benefits aside from pool access. Room smelled of mold. I really wanted to love this resort, but just was NOT worth the money. Rm 9223 03/31-04/03.

Overall we felt like our stay was very medium. Upon arrival, someone who introduced himself as from Expedia came to tell us he would help us with anything we needed during our stay, took our phone number, and then never contacted us until the day before we left. We did have someone from Royalton immediately come up to help us, too, but they were trying to sell us a club membership and to join them for a breakfast where we’d learn more about joining the club. Once we said no to the breakfast, the staff member stopped responding to any messages.

We booked an ocean view family suite, and upon getting checked in, the staff was quietly back and forth between the check in desks, and told us they were “doing something special” for us. They moved us to the diamond area, which we thought was very kind to do without request, but when we got there, we had a view looking at the back of a building and in order to see the ocean, we had to go out on the balcony and stand in one of the ends and look over. When we told the front desk we had paid for an ocean view, they told us we can technically see the ocean so it is an ocean view. They also said they were overbooked so they couldn’t accommodate what we originally booked.

The pools were great. Our kids enjoyed the obstacle course in the water and the slides.

The food was pretty good. We especially enjoyed Zen, our server was great with food allergies!

Almost impossible to get reservations if not a prime or diamond member. The wait staff for the most part were extremely slow and rude. Beach was loaded with piles of seaweed . Annoying how many people kept trying to get you to book for the spa or take a membership tour. Even when in full conversation having fun they would walk right up and interrupt. Although I did break and booked with one and very happy I did. Beautiful spa, great massage and hydrotherapy . Went twice! Then thankfully an Expedia member checked in on my trip and got us dinner reservations finally and met with us and turned our trip around!!!! Thank you Victor!!!!
Coco bongo was amazing! Such a great time. And booked through the Royalton and personally escorted to the door . Literally walked us in. Felt very safe.

Great property don't believe all the reviews this place is nice. Rooms are clean and staff is great. Buffett food is good restaurants are good nothing off the hook but still nice. Beach is great and the pools are clean. Place is huge and lots of bars. Beer is always cold Alcohol selections is a little limited for whiskeys and Rums but they have all the rest. There are some bugs (no see em's ) after sunset that bite some people. Only 3 out of our party of 17 but simple mosquito spray keeps them off you. Staff is nice everywhere and Andy the Expedia ambassador is amazing and took care of us from check in to check out. He took care of our dinner reservations and excursions. Super nice guy and even took care of the rest of my party. If you need a butler this is not the place for you but it is clean, friendly and fun. Super close to the airport.

The beach water is brown. Not much the hotel can do about this, but it is not the blue water everyone is coming to Mexico to see. Sand fleas are legit here as well. It is almost impossible to get dinner reservations whether you are diamond club or not. When you cannot enjoy the beach as expected things like dinner reservation's needs to be operating at 100%. The spa experience was exceptional.

Our trip started out very good food and drinks were very good. Restaurants had awesome service and food with lots of variety. Pools and the beaches were exceptional. The sargassum wasn’t to bad the crews did there best to clean it up. The last couple days of our trip weren’t that great as our year and a half old daughter got very sick. The staff and the doctor on site were very helpful in the end she had to go to the hospital for treatment. The staff were amazing people who had helped us with getting to the hospital asap. Also with other things like making sure we had everything we needed. I should mention we have 2 other daughters who are older I stayed with them at resort while my wife went to the hospital with our youngest who was sick. The person that helped us a lot was Armando Martinez at guest services. He was super helpful, knowledgeable, and would do anything he could to help us and make us feel comfortable at a stressful time. There was another gentleman from guest services who had helped also I cannot remember his name but he also did an amazing job. We ended up staying an extra 2 days due to our baby girl couldn’t fly due to her sickness. They allowed us to stay in the same room which was great. The staff made us feel like they really cared for us which was really nice as it was a difficult time. Also want to mention that the doctor ran to our room as we called front desk that we needed him to come asap. Great people who work here!!

I chose this hotel because it said “newly renovated “ on the ad. When we got into the room, the room was so old and dirty full of mosquitoes. Bathtub was so old and not maintained for a long time so it created lots of black particles. It was so disgusting. There was very stinky smell in the washroom. And the buffet menu definitely needs to be improved. We stayed seven nights and eight days and the foods were served exactly the same. We had been to other resorts before and they provided different themed foods every day. And it says family friendly resort but there were not many things to do for our 11 years old. To be honest, there was nothing much to do even for us.
The staffs were nice and friendly and we all appreciated their hard work but we won’t come back to this hotel nor recommend to other people.

Im 32 but there was a highschool spring break event there. they wouldn’t let anyone order more than one drink at a time so I couldn’t even get my wife and I a drink without her present aswell. Also wouldn’t serve shots until all the 18yr olds went to bed. Would’ve been very nice if that wasn’t the case

After reading many negative reviews about Royalton Riviera Cancun, we were considering canceling our reservation and booking another hotel. Long story short, we are glad we didn't!

THE FOOD was good except for one meal in 6 days we were there. The buffet had a wide variety and was pretty good overall. Omelettes, tacos, etc were very good. If you are used to American-style brisket, I would steer clear from ordering it there. The Tappanyaki was REALLY good!

THE DRINKS were good, typical, all-inclusive drinks, but was pleased they had Coors Light cans as an option for the refrigerator in the room. The mixologist at the Zen restaurant made the best drink of the trip, a spicy mango cocktail.

THE SERVICE was over the top! Yael was our personal assistant (a perk for booking with Hotels.com). She made dinner reservations for us and even decorated our room as a surprise for my daughter's birthday. She checked in with us to see if we needed anything regularly, (even on her day off!) The waiting staff was very nice and accomodating.

THE BEACH had the most amazing sand! Plenty of chairs on the beach and a couple bars to order drinks from right on the beach. Not enough servers walking the beach but not a big deal since the beach bar was close. A tractor raked up the seaweed every day multiple times.

OVERALL I would recommend this resort. So many people like to post negatives and don't highlight the positives. The positive experiences FAR outweighed any negative ones.

Stayed for 11 nights in a Diamond Club room ocean view Feb, room was always spotless, Adriana was the maid and she was awesome.
Our butlers were Carlos and Ulises and they checked in twice a day to see if anything was needed. booked our nightly al la cartes, got a bottle of alcohol for our room. Took care of two minor issues with the room almost instantly. Awesome fellas.
Juan and Aldo were always at the DC pool to get chairs and always attentive. Super friendly guys.
I think the 7.4 rating on expedia is fairly accurate but some people will never be happy.
Zen and Agave were our favorite restaurants.
