I was told that they had me upgraded - the onl request I had was to be on the highest available floor in m room category. My wish was ignored and while checking in inwss told I had been upgraded to a higher category. I landed on the ground floor and there where holes hammered into the dry wall while the room only bemused with eh curtains closed.
When approached my feedback to be moved was ignored, telephone wasn’t picked up and during check outlines even goldmine can’t get a proper invoice, as it would have been booke b Expedia - which is true but I specifically booked payment in hotel in order to not have invoicing issues

Didn’t like the shower. After using it the whole bathroom filled with water. Hotel was very rude trying to edit a room stay due to unforeseen reasons. Room service to clean room had to be ordered online and the staff didn’t clear cups or bottles belonging to hotel.

Room was excellent. Staff in general was friendly. Hotel location is Ok but not great. Bar was open late which gave us some extra time to relax after a long day. I would rate this hotel 8 out of 10 stars. I would give it a 10 if the Hotel would have been located right in the city. However, if you are visiting just for business, this is the Hotel I would recommend.

How could this get a 4-star rating?

It is a mystery to us how this hotel could get a 4-star rating.
-The lobby is a small corner on the third floor of another building, where no one was around when we arrived
- The photos on Hotels.com are misleading, as the hotel rooms are only on the bottom 3 floors of the side building. From the photos one would assume to get a room in a higher floor.
- The room was OK, but very small and lacking amenities such as even a mini-bar or fridge.
- The shower did not drain properly, the arrangement of the bathroom was not very practical. For instance the hair-drier was installed blocking the mirror in front of the (small) sink. The mirror in the hallway was covered by a poster, so that it no longer worked as a proper mirror, etc.
If this hotel was rated as a 3-star, I would be OK with it, but even then it would not be one of the better 3-star hotels in my experience.
In summary: If this hotel deserves a 4-star rating, then the rating system is completely useless. It is a mystery to us how this hotel could have been rated 4-stars.

We stayed in the suite over the weekend. We already stayed in the Apollo twice before of which one in the suite... We enjoyed it so much that we wanted to stay in the same room. Good choice. Staff is great, Hotel is hip, clean and well kept and modern.

Over the past five years I’ve stayed in the Apollo three times and I always get the same room. It is clean and tidy with an excellent bathroom and shower. The bed is two singles put together, it’s ok, but if you turn over too quickly you may find yourself on the floor!
Breakfast buffet is good, the bacon a bit too greasy and is of the “shaved pig” variety rather than proper back bacon, but it is what it is.
Service at the bar is good, the staff young and friendly if the cocktails are limited and preprepared.
There is one major and inexplicable problem. The coffee machine. There is only one which takes an age to fill a cup and regularly runs out of coffee, water or both. On Monday, despite being in the restaurant for an hour it was impossible to get past superannuated guests getting three or four coffees at a time! Honestly guys and girls, I know you’re trying out Hipster chic, but no coffee in the morning goes beyond all your fancy trends, fashions or attitudes. But another machine (or two!) for the sanity of your guests!

The stay was perfectly decent and the bed was comfortable. The only negative is that it is slightly outside of the centre of the city so takes a bit of a walk or public transport. The shower didn't have particularly good pressure and the in-room toiletries were a bit meh. However, I would happily stay here again. One point of note is that the hotel is only the first couple of floors and has a confusing layout.

The hotel was very clean and I especially liked the policy regarding protecting environment. The restaurant was very good, the food was delicious but the waitresses were somewhat rude. As a single woman staying at the hotel, I realized that they sometimes ignored my table and were much nicer in their service to table with men.

Good vibe at The Apollo Hotel

Great hotel with a contempary feel. Staff are friendly and really helpful. The bar is good ( great cocktails!) and open til midnight. The heating in the rooms is not that goid - on high its still chilly.

Great room, very comfortable bed, spacious bathroom, good service. You can park next to the hotel for free in case you want to save the 7.50 for parking in the garage. If you hope to reside in one of the upper floors: only the first three floors of the buildings belong to the hotel so sadly you wont be able to catch a view over Groningen from your room.

We have been here twice as our daughter is going to university here. Great place. Short walk everywhere but out of the hustle and bustle of the centre. Parking, nice breakfast, bar to relax in with an outside for hot days, clean modern rooms. Friendly and attentive staff. Looking forward to our next visit.

I booked one of the apartments for a few nights. The price was reasonable and the rooms were modern and very comfortable. I'm not sure how the standard rooms are, regardless the staff was extremely helpful and polite. I would stay there again gladly.

This is the first time i have used this hotel and was not too pleased. There were no sign and there is no lobby or drive bay. It took me two rounds and asking around to figure out that the hotel was actually in the residential tower. While the rooms were clean, new and reasonable overall experience was not good. many small items (as listed above) made it unacceptable. Only if the price of the rooms were much lower than the mainstream hotels, then may be this would pass as B&B (without free breakfast).

Nice, modern hotel slightly outside the city

Overall I liked this hotel, the restaurant/bar was nice and the staff was super friendly. It was a bit outside of the city center, but was very reasonably priced and worked better for me since I was working in Oostwold. my only critiques are that the room was pretty small and the mattress was not very comfortable, but for the price I was very happy with my stay at the Apollo.

This Hotel is new, about 4 years old, and has very nice view. It is located right on the interstate.
Restaurant's menu offers large variety. The room is very comfortable, not really spacious, but cosy.
I would stay there again and again.

Well worth a visit

Business trip, 2 nights. Booked this place for convenience and rate. Hotel easily found, and parking nearby. Modern hipster feel to the place, looks very new. Staff extremely courteous and attentive, but not overly so. Excellent room with usual modern facilities (e.g. USB charging port. I was upgraded, so can't comment on standard rooms) and in a quiet neighbourhood. Didn't make it to the gym but it looked in good nick and well equipped. Breakfast was first rate continental style, with fresh brewed coffee from a bean to cup machine (it's a pet hate of mine when you don't get this). Only downside was the very confusing layout of the hotel and finding your way around - it's over two separate towers and it is nigh impossible to use the stairs to get from one floor to another. But that's a minor negative only. Would definitely recommend it and would definitely go back.

Mijn reguliere zakelijk bezoek aan Groningen. Bij aankomst in het donker voelt omgeving niet direct veilig. Straten rond het hotel zijn matig tot slecht verlicht en ingang parkeergarage hotel krap en steil. Receptie zit op de 3e verdieping. Bij aankomst doet barman de receptie erbij, maar weet niet echt hoe alles werkt. Kamer zit vervolgens op begane grond, met uitzicht op een slecht verlichte straat achter het hotel. Niet iets dat je verwacht voor deze prijs. Volgende keer tijdig een Van der Valk boeken. Betere service en omgeving.

Im Großen und ganzen war es sehr gut, schönes Hotel, grosse Zimmer auch sauber,Lage ok zu Fuß erreicht man die Innenstadt in ca.20 min. Das Frühstück war ok die Auswahl war nicht so groß und was mir nicht gefallen hat ist daß die Tische nicht abgeräumt waren so dass man nicht wusste wo man sitzen kann weil alles andere belegt war, Teller und Kaffeetassen waren mangelware anscheinend 😞

Schönes Hotel, das sowohl verkehrsgünstig als auch ruhig liegt. Es ist zwar eine schnellstraße in der Nähe. Trotzdem kann man gut mit offenem Fenster schlafen. Das Zimmer war hochwertig ausgestattet, hat aber auch schön ein paar Gebrauchsspuren. Sehr freundliches und hilfsbereites Personal.

Ons verblijf bij Leonardo Hotel was ok. De kamers zijn ruim en ondanks de nabijheid van de snelweg hoor je die bij gesloten ramen niet.
Het ontbijt is karig te noemen. Er werd nauwelijks bijgevuld (croissants waren voor 8.00 al op), bruine brood was lang op, geen verse jus. Op een zakenreis is een fijn ontbijt wel het minimale.

Top verblijf!

Zeker waard om weer terug te komen. Tijdens de check-in kregen we een upgrade naar een suite kamer en die was in 1 woord GEWELDIG! Kamer had een balkon waar je zomers heerlijk kunt zitten en boven een kleine woonkamer. Verder was het netjes en lag er een lief kaartje met een verassing.

Leonardo Hotel Groningen er et helt greit hotel, med grei service, men ingen toppscore slik det fremstår på hotels.com. Når en anmelder et hotell så skal over fire være veldig bra. Dette hotellet er helt på gjennomsnittet, kanskje litt over. Du får ingen ekstraservice og personellet var helt som andre steder. Eneste var en svært ekstra og hyggelig dame som var i frontdesken på lørdagen.
MERK! På bilder gir hotellet inntrykk av at det er i toppen av et høyt bygg, det er feil. Du er bare i 3 etg og rommene er i 1, 2 og 3 - private leiligheter i toppen.
Frokosten er helt ok. Bra internasjonal standard.

Ein sehr schickes und edles Hotel. Tolle Zimmer und nette Annehmlichkeiten.
Etwas merkwürdig war, dass es auch nach Rückfrage nur eine Zimmerkarte gab - angeblich, weil das \"Hotel nicht genügend Karten hat.\" Das ist etwas lächerlich, aber im Großen und Ganzen gerne wieder.
