Just what I needed for a work trip. Room clean and quiet, breakfast and dinner provided if required. Also a few basic restaurants and shops nearby. Staff very helpful. Only downside was the hairdryer didn't work but was able to use one in another room.

The only complaints would be that the showers are very small (mine leaked heavily) and the carpets need a serious steam cleaning. Otherwise all linens and surfaces where clean and very friendly staff. Oh and a very nice breakfest.

Needs updating, far from town center

Staff were professional and polite. Hotel is dated, I'm not sure how it has 4 stars, maybe they were achieved in the '80s, it certainly isn't a 4* hotel now. Hotel is in an area with very few restaurants nearby, or any other facilities other than the MartiniPlaza event space. A walk into town would be 40 mins, so if you are planning on going into Groningen, I'd recommend a Taxi

The location was not great for walkers/pedestrians coming from the train station or airport to the Big Market SQ. or the Fish market sq. (Central Business Dist.) Also, there was alot of messy construction outside the front entrance, by the highway/freeway. Great hotel though, especially if you drive or are in GRN for a conference/event at the Martini Arena.

Although we only stopped over here for one night it was a very enjoyable night and would recommend this hotel. A lovely spacious room with a huge comfortable bed, plenty of toiletries, hot drink making facilities and It was spotlessly clean. The breakfast was delicious and had lots on offer especially during the Covid restrictions. All the staff were very helpful in all areas.

The room was great typical euro style twin beds, but as a 4 star hotel to not have air conditioning was a big surprise. It had a fan which circulated air but not close to cool air. Food was amazing but pricey, all employees were friendly and helpful.

Overall a good place to stay.

Good hotel, excellent service, clean. However, on the west side of the building the road traffic noise is noticeable, in the mornings a little annoying. Didn't ditract from an enjoyable stay though.
The other thing to mention is it is a fair walk from the city centre, at least 30mins but we knew this when we booked it and the local bus is very quick and easy to use.

Friendly and professional - happy with our stay

Generously proportioned room, but cupboard/wardrobe space was a bit tight. The location is not super convenient for sightseeing - around 25 minutes' walk to the centre. On the plus side, the room was well appointed, clean and comfortable, tea and coffee making facilities were provided in the room, and the free WiFi was a definite bonus. We decided not to pay 18 Euros each for breakfast and found that the Apollo hotel nearby provided an excellent breakfast for 14.50 Euros. An even cheaper option was Starbucks at the main railway station (open from 6.30am).

Over a week spent in hotel, rooms ok not massive. But nice and clean.im on nights shift, but hotel lacks evening cleaning staff. But they leave fresh towel at the door daily. Good food in bar area. Prices 18 to 30€ .

Adequate in a quiet neighborhood

The hotel was further from the station in the direction opposite to the center than I would have liked and there were few restaurants or cafes near by. Still, the hotel was adequate and the distance was easily walkable.

All we wanted was provided.

Everything we wanted was there. Very large bed,bedding, en suite shower, 2 chairs, desk, fridge, wardrobe, hot drink making facility in room.

Couldn't hear traffic despite being next to major route but could hear hum of ? air-conditioning.
Was disturbed by noise of doors to other rooms closing.

Also fridge needed defrosting.

Brilliant hotel with 5* service!

Hotel was awesome. Stephan on reception very friendly and helpful. Room was clean and had good facilities. We ate at the hotel both nights and food was amazing. The barman was great(didn't catch his name). But his service and craic was brilliant. Hotel was well priced and out of the three hotels we stayed in while in Holland it was by far the best. Nothing was too much trouble for them. Very enjoyable stay.

Having stayed there a few times before It's now looking a bit tired and in need of some tlc. Lift is ever so slow and the carriage doesn't drop to the lobby after use so it's a long wait either way. Room keys cards are still being wiped by close proximity to phone batteries and I had to have my key re-configured (see earlier about slow lift). Food is still very good although the onion soup was awful. Try the beef in mushroom sauce of you're a meat eater. Not much choice if you're not I'm afraid. Staff were pleasant and attentive. On the whole, it's a run of the mill budget, overnighter hotel for the business set and does its job well. It's just lacking personality and 20 minutes to get into my room at check in? That's poor, they do offer a pre arrival check in, maybe worth checking the check in out.

Lovely hotel but not for anyone who has problems walking unless you want to pay for taxis. Good 20 minute plus walk into town. Stayed 3 nights and was more than happy with the wonderful staff and the cleanliness of the hotel.

The hotel was very convenient because we had a conference taking place right next it.In terms of seeing the town it wouldn't have been great if that is what we wanted since we had to take taxis downtown to eat. The staff were OK if not enthusiastic but no real food to be had besides breakfast an room service. The bed was very comfortable and the room was small but functional with a nice shower.

Nice hotel but slightly outside of Groningen

Stayed here for work and because there was no hotels in the city center that week. It's a typical Mercure hotel, nice buffet breakfast, rooms were decent with waterfall showers, excellent staff service. FYI it costs about 10 EUR to go into the city center, 5 - 10 min drive, and the taxis are very good, you can pay on card. I walked one evening back and it took about 50 minutes. You can also hire bikes from the hotel if you like, Groningen is very bike friendly!

This hotel met all my needs, but is a long walk from city center, however there was a free shuttle to he center for the music festival, so that was convenient. The room was nothing special, but was not bad. The bed was not the most comfortable bed and the shower was quite small.

We arrived here very late and was very grateful for the hospitality of the bar manager, he arranged us some food even though restaurant was practically closed down for the night, and served us a few beers after we had eaten,this guy spoke very good English and couldn't of done any more to be a great guy! Definitely an asset to this hotel, the room looked recentley refurbished and was great, checked out very early and was offered free coffee on departure which was also very appreciated. Overall an excellent hotel and would not hesitate to stay again.my low marking for neighbourhood is only because I never got chance to go out as we arrived late and left early! Hotel was nicely placed just if motorway though.

Lovely Breakfast..

Stayed in this lovely hotel for couple of nights in June 2014. The room was very nice and clean with an espresso machine!! There were also free espresso coffee machine in the lobby which was great. The hotel parking can be little problematic in the evening. The breakfast was a winner for me with FRESH orange juice machine - loved it!!

The hotel is next to an exit off the motorway, but then this far away that you do not notice the motorway. Public transport: a busstop is nearby but the centre is within walking distance (about 2,5 km). If you are there only for the purpose of sleeping, it is recommendable. The hotel serves more as a conference hotel than anything else. The hotel is based next to the Martiniplaza venue, which could be an advantage if you want to visit a show. I did not go there for that purpose, but also did not notice too much of what was going on there, which I think is a plus. The staff are nice and helpful.

Located very close to the motorway but not particularly noisy. Excellent links to the nearby Assen motor racing circuit. Car park small but we always found a spot. A long way from the town centre but just within walking distance.

Great Guy on the Front Desk!

We were met upon arrival by a fellow in charge of the front desk, who was interested in us, in the purpose of our visit (to search out family ancestors and their communities), and who was most helpful both in terms of our hotel stay and in terms of learning about the Groningen area. The hotel was moderately priced compared to Amsterdam, yet was newer, cleaner, and had larger rooms as well. We were pleased and impressed.
