Marked down because house keeping on a few occasions weren’t great - forgot to clean, took our towels but then didn’t give us fresh towers so we had no towels. Twice our room key stopped working so had to go back to reception.

Staff was very friendly and never had such a easy and quick check-in and check-out. Breakfast was very complete, of good quality and extra ordering from menucard was included in the price. Room was spacious, clean with nice look and comfort.
A walk to the city center was just a 10min walk.
Next time in Groningen we will be booking here again.

Dirty two star hotel

This is NOT a four star hotel. It is more like a run down two or three star motel. The green sofas in the room were dirty with stains of dubious origin. Walls are stained and paint peeling off. Window frames very dirty. The bathroom gloomy. Internet is slow. One of the receptionists was plainly rude. The only positive thing to say is that breakfast is good and staff there helpful. Even if clean this hotel cannot be by any standards a four star hotel.

Very central, very good

The hotel is centrally located in Groningen, very close to the main entrance of the UMCG (University Medical Center Groningen), and it is only a ten minutes walk to Grote Markt/Martinitoren. There are very good bus connections to the Hoofdstation (Main Station).
Our standard room on the 9th floor was very nice with a pleasant view oft he city.
The beds were very comfortable with pleasant bed linen, and the bathroom was very clean.
The breakfast was very good.
The restaurant closes at 2100, but it is stated that it should be possible to get food and drink 24/7, and that the bar is sort of self-service. For us, this proved not to be quite true, but maybe we were just unfortunate.

I found the value equation somewhat dissapointing. I admit the Assen TT had something to do with it. Nice hotel, as expected for NH. Great breakfast.
Paying extra for parking was not expected when you are already over U$200 per night.

No useable wifi!!!

Overall, we were quite happy with this hotel. The location was good, a short walk to the city center.
The room was comfortable and clean, the staff were friendly. However, there were two negatives that were quite annoying. First, \"self parking\" means that you are on your own. The hotel has no facilities, a nearby parking garage sets you back 21 euros per day. Second, and much more annoyingly, the wifi in our room did not work. We spent one week in this hotel, complained daily about this problem, and NOTHING happened. We had to go down to the lobby to read our email. We think this is ridiculous, given the fact that every cafe and supermarket offered free (and usually fast) wifi in the city.
By the way, this wifi situation is not at all typical for NH hotels. We have stayed in several others during this trip and have not had any comparable problems.

A neat stay

I stayed at this hotel in April and it was lovely. The staff is of course typically Dutch and doesn't smile a lot or seem overly friendly but they did what they were there to do (give me my room key). The beds are great and the shower is not lukewarm like in many other hotels. The breakfast buffet is plenty and very tasty (too tasty...) but in terms of toppings for those amazing pancakes they make something is lacking if you want anything but powdered sugar or syrup on your pancakes. The staff is also not very quick to replace empty breakfast items (such as yoghurt or milk). I'm probably going to try a different hotel next stay (I'm adventurous!) but it's definitely a worthy location to stay at!

This is a two, three star hotel at most. We stay at 50 plus hotels a year for business and usually get what we pay for. Not here. Upon arrival found 6 hairs in the bath tub. Then realized air conditioning didn‘t work. Front desks answer: no it doesn‘t work on the eight floor. What? Ok, we move to the sixth floor. Turn the air on 18 C at 5pm. Getting back at 11.30pm it is still 25 C. To the front desk we go....gentleman comes and checks, says, I‘m afraid no room will go cooler than this. What?? Slept with window open over loud street. Staff was friendly but hotel as a whole is terrible. We are staying at another non-refundable NH hotel tonight and sure do hope it‘s better.

Comfortable overnight stay. Plenty on street free parking. Firm bed, plenty pillows air con and a clean bathroom. Hotel is within short walking distance of the pedestrianised area with plenty bars and restaurants. Breakfast had a good selection . My only criticism is that the room doors are heavy and some guests just let them bang behind them.

The hotel was generally good but I cannot think of anything to make it stand out of the routine. I stayed there for only one night. The only think I observed in my room was the leaking shower head in the bathroom. I reported this at the check-out and they took note of it. The lack of parking and the price for local parking could be an issue for people thinking of driving to Groningen. I parked my car at the hospital's car park, which literally is a minute away from the hotel, and paid €36 for 17 hours.

STILL POOR Internet service

I have stayed in this hotel on many occasions and stay was satisfactory.
The breakfast is little better from what was offered in the past and I still believe it is over-priced for what is available.
Unfortunately the free wifi in the hotel are still not up to standard, very slow connection and often disconnect. The premium paid wifi service is no better! As this hotel is usually used by business travellers, I would would hope the management can take action to get the wifi sorted out!!!

NH Groningen - Great Hotel, Free 5pm check out!

An excellent base for working in Groningen. Got a great rate through Hotels dot com. Hotel is clean and modern, super WIFI and the 'Lazy Sunday' 5pm free late checkout is a fantastic idea and one I wish more hotels would adopt. Hats off to NH Hotels for the concept and will be looking to book more stays with them as a result.

GREAT!!

NH Hotel groningen is a great place to stay. We had a room with city view on the 8th floor, excellent. Rooms are clean and comfortable without any noise of other rooms. Breakfast is very nice, lot of choices and friendly staff. Overall a great stay for a very good price.
3 minutes away from the centre and stores.

I would recommend it to anyone.

The usual good points of this hotel being close to town and big clean rooms.
Bad points includes: expensive + boring breakfast. Why they insist of putting bacon/sausage/egg in the same fancy pot? Some of us only like bacon means taking 5x pots, take out the bacon in each and throw the rest of the good food away! The car park is double the price at weekends!! The internet (free or paid) is unusable for anything apart from casual surfing. It not workable if you want to connect back to office. For the business traveller who need a good decent breakfast and fast reliable internet connection, suggest you look elsewhere in Groningen!!

Disappointing breakfast that cost alot!!

Stayed in the hotel for business in Nov 2014 as I have done many times in the past. The dinning area has been completely refurbished with 24 hours food and drinks available. It is fine if you like sandwiches and microwave food.
The breakfast area has certainly changed and now charged 10% MORE than before with basically the same choice of food!! The free internet in the rooms are good with reasonable speed.
Overall is good hotel but still lacking in the breakfast area!!

We were totally dismayed when we arrived after a last minute booking with yourselves to find that the NH Hotel was a building site. Apparently the receptionists had been ringing guest all morning to warn them of the situation but you did not! You were advertising this Hotel up until that morning when we booked as not having a problem. The bar and breakfast room had been squashed on to the 10th floor - we did not bother visiting and on many occasions only one lift was in order as the builders were tiling etc around the reception area (on the day we arrived there was no reception!) The staff were lovely but really all we ever saw was our room. Never again will I use Hotels.com

A Great Place to stay

From the minute we stepped inside the door, it felt good. the staff was friendly and helpful. It is a great Hotel to stay at. The room excellent, spacy clean and friendly, good bed and bathroom.
Funiture was sufficient.
We were not far from the centre of Groningen and the Central Station where we travelled from to Nieuwe Schans Fotana Bath. When family picked us up by car, parking was a problem.

A hotel with good value. Similar hotel in Amsterdam would be 50 Euros more/night. Nice breakfast buffet with lots of choices. Automatic coffee machine in breakfast area gave lots of options too. I thought the hotel staff could have been more helpful for a guest who was unable to extend his stay, but could not because the hotel was fully booked. Should have offered to phone other hotels in the area to be helpful.

Great hotel!

This hotel seems to be a bit out of downtown, which is kind of, but it is only a 5-minute walk to cross the canal to get over to the main part. Despite appearances, having a hotel in front of a big hospital, it is actually quite handy. Inside the hospital, there is an Albert Hein supermarket chain and a restaurant that serves restaurant. Also, there is a bus stop right in front of the hospital. If one is driving, easy to find the hotel, just follow the hospital sign on the highway boards! A note to say that I have not heard many ambulances passing by, so there was not much noise relating to having the hospital close by. The restaurant in the hotel is wonderful. Very good food and the staff is very helpful. I got a problem with my room and was changed room right away. The room is very convenient and large, but don't expect heavy decor though. Overall, very good hotel and very well located.

Convenient Hotel to Medical Centre - Poor Internet

In most respects the NH Groningen was fine for my stay. Except for one glaring inadequacy - very poor and inconsistent internet service (Swisscom). Slow, inconsistent connection, frequent dropped connections, etc. To be fair, when I spoke to front desk staff upon my checkout, they stated that they were aware of the problem, since numerous other guests had complained about it, but there was little else to be offered because the contract was with the internet agency that NH Hotels had hired.

Good budget hotel in a nice neighborhood. Very close to the Grote Markt. We were able to rent bikes. The breakfast was too expensive and not worth it. The hotel is across from a hospital, but there were no ambulance noise. The room was clean and the hotel staff were friendly.
