Convenient for centre and restaurants. The hotel is probably 50 years old and has been kept up to date. The room was clean, comfortable and well equipped. Parking is available in the underground car park and it is advisable to book. The main station is about 10/15 minutes walk away. The bus service in Groningen is excellent and good value. The hotel does not have a restaurant but serves a good breakfast. The staff were excellent throughout the stay. Groningen itself is a lovely city

Cute hotel. Very clean. We enjoyed the location ; not in the market but just a short walk and very quiet. 10minute walk to train station. Cute lobby with a small bar. Crisp white linen, nice bathroom with tub. Staff was very friendly. Coffee machine in lobby so you can enjoy coffee or cappuccino 24 hours. Didn’t eat at the restaurant as we wondered out if the hotel in the morning. Would definitely book again!

I recently visited Groningen to attend a wine festival and had the pleasure of staying at the Flonk Hotel.

The hotel is situated in the heart of Groningen, within walking distance to the city's best shopping, restaurants, and attractions. Everything you need is literally steps away.

The underground parking facility is a huge plus, making it easy to explore the city without worrying about your vehicle.

Very convenient for centre of town, 10 minutes walk. Whilst the hotel does not have a restaurant there are numerous restaurants/ cafes within easy reach. Secure car parking available. Most things of interest are walkable and the bus service is very good.The staff were very helpful both before and during our visit. Breakfast range was good and good quality. I would have liked a fridge in the room as outside temperatures were mid twenties celsius.
The hotel itself is probably some 50 years old but has been well maintained and updated. Immediately outside the front of the hotel is the marina

Wonderful place to stay! Amazing breakfast, fantastic staff (free doughnuts are a nice touch!). Everything is clean and newly renovated. As of June 2024, there was still some construction/renovation going on, but it did not impact my stay at all. Area around the property is great! Great for business or vacation! Laundry service was prompt and well-done. Staff speak great English, Dutch and German (and perhaps more). Snacks are available in the lobby throughout the day. I have nothing bad to say about this hotel.

The hotel is very convenient for the city centre and has its own car park, which can be a little difficult to navigate due to the number and closeness of the pillars. Be aware that you will be required to leave your car keys at reception and if you forget them you will be charged for their return.Check in and out was easy and the breakfast was good.
The front of the hotel looks out onto the the canal and harbour .

This is a truly mediocre hotel. Prices were outrageous for the quality on offer. My stay coincided with a concert, so the hotel bumped up the price egregiously. I've stayed in luxury 5 star hotels for the same price as this basic hotel which is wholly uninspiring. Breakfast was a lowlight offering a poor selection of predominantly cheap foods. The staff were generally pleasant.

I stayed only one night, however everything was perfect. the price was reasonable, the service was excellent. The front desk very courteous and friendly.. They went above and beyond allowing me to make a international call. It doesn't sound like much but it was my only 5 minutes speaking to folks back home which made it an amazing experience. The rooms were immaculate and clean, the view of the city from the room spectacular. Shower/ bathroom perfect also. I can't say enough thank you for the experience!

Great location in pretty city. Staff is freindly and helpful and. speaks good English. Breakfast is good. We had Junior Suite so it comes with Executive Lounge--do this-- it is worth it--lots of free food and drinks all thru they and evening. And room is bigger We had a very large room, really two small rooms and a big hallway. Only problem is the crazy security--they have a card swipe into every hallway so you cannot go from lobby to your room without two cardswipes-and it really does not look like a crime ridden area! Very safe area yet all the annoyng securty.

Enjoyable quick stay in Groningen

My wife and I had a nice quick stop in Groningen on a trip from Bremen to Amsterdam. We used the hotel's voucher program to go to a fabulous Spanish restaurant around the corner. The next day we rented bicycles from the hotel (very convenient!) for a lovely bike ride in the Dutch countryside. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We even got a room upgrade, because there was some problem with our hotels.com reservation, that the staff easily dealt with.

The hotel looks pretty grim from the outside, we walked past it without noticing. It has several different names in broken neon and does not create a good first impression at all. The reception staff didn't do anything to change that either. One was (I hope VERY new) intern with a sign telling us he was training. He wasn't great but his colleague was surley and unwelcoming so not setting the best example to follow. Given that.... our room was huge and clean and very comfortable. A little too warm but thats better than cold in winter. Huge windows with fantastic views. Totally fine for an overnight stay, but for me the staff matter and because them I wouldn't book again.

Modern hotel in pleasant area near canal with drinks facilities available in the dining room all through the day.
Our room was nice with great view however somewhat small considering photo on website showing much more spacious room. Quite misleading
Checking staff was not hundred percent helpful on arrival. Making us pay whole cost of accommodation although it says differently on website again. But other staff on different day were more helpful.
As it is a Centre for meetings it can be quite busy & noisy in restaurant.

Fantastic property with lovely staff. The rooms were quite large, and despite some wear and tear on the carpets, they were very clean. One thing to consider, while it didn't bother me, if you're on the lower levels on a weekend - there will be lots of people on bikes going from bar to bar, and can be quite loud. I loved the atmosphere, but if you need a proper amount of uninterrupted sleep... I would suggest asking for a room on a higher floor. To put a spin on that - I loved setting up my laptop to work and opening up the curtains to soak in the sights and sounds of Groningen nightlife. The city is very much alive! Felt like watching a movie.

Staff very helpful and friendly, comfortable room with spacious bathroom, excellent breakfast offering hot and cold foods and tea and coffee making facilities in endless supply in the dining area. There is a bar but as you need to go out to eat there are not many people around in the evening. Good idea for a quiet area off the main dining/bar area for sitting and a library. The hotel is down a side street next to a canal offering a quiet location but five minute walk from a selection of restaurants and a further five minute walk to the centre square of Groningen. Well recommend you stay there as also reasonable rates.

The hotel was in a good location as it was fairly quiet but within walking distance of restaurants, train station and city centre. From the outside it looked a bit austere and unattractive but inside all areas were spacious and clean. Minus points were that the breakfast option seemed overpriced, particularly if you only wanted something simple and there was no coffee/tea making facilities in the room. On the plus side the reception staff were very friendly and helpful, free hot drinks were available in the bar area, wifi access was good and the rooms were spacious, clean and inexpensive.

Large room, good wifi but poor breakfast...

I stayed just 1 night on this hotel and my experience was not great.
The check-in/out was great and speedy with good service from the receptionist.
The room was very large compared with other hotels I have stayed in this area and the wifi in the room was fast and free.
The hotel name can easily confused with Hampshire \"CITY\" hotel just 5 mins walk so you can find yourself (as I did) trying to check in at the wrong hotel.
The breakfast was not cheap and of poor standard compares to other hotel in the same area. The large room that I had was quite poorly lite in my opinion so it is little too dark.
Overall, my stay was satisfactory but little over-priced the same grade of hotel in the area.

We stayed at the Hampshire in Groningen and loved it. The location next to the canal was within walking distance of the best attractions, historical sites and restaurants. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful and they spoke excellent English. We plan to return to Groningen in the future and will definitely book this same hotel in the return visit.

Decent hotel next to center of Groningen

This is a decent hotel next to center of Groningen. I traveled for business and booked a deluxe room. The room was huge and came with a very nice bathroom, with a huge bath and separate walk in shower. It was one of the few hotels in Groningen with a gym, hence I booked it. The gym is small but well equipped for its size, e.g. 1 treadmill, 1 stepper, 1 cycle machine, 1 cross trainer, 1 bench with olympic bar, lots of adjustable dumb bells. I was the only one ever using it so it worked out great for me. I didn't eat in the hotel as Groningen city center is literally around the corner, but 1 word of warning, if you like a big breakfast I would definitely eat at the hotel, people from Netherlands eat breakfast at home, I didn't find anywhere in the 2 weeks I was there that did anything other than a croissant / panini and a coffee for breakfast. There's loads of decent restaurants in the city center though for dinner.

This is an average hotel in the southern section of Groningen Centre. The hotel was sufficient enough just don't expect any frills. It is good value for what it offers. It is a more than adequate location to spend a few nights if in Groningen and is easy walking distance to the central area of the city. The fitness center is small, and is limited in its equipment. For its proximity to the center and walking distance from the train station, this hotel is the place for you.

We needed a comfortable room for a couple of nights visiting our granddaughter at the university. The 4th floor room had a lovely view of illuminated church steeples. It was a bit small but it didn't matter because we were out most of the time. Very convenient for the university and town centre. Good breakfast but no dinner. Found a very nice Italian restaurant just over the bridge over the canal. A lovely city. Garage parking very convenient but a bit pricy.
