Whiskey bar, yet appropriate for all ages. Quiet, calm in the middle of a busy and vibrant part of Little India. We arrived very early (9 a.m.) yet were allowed to check in after a brief wait for housekeeping to clean the room. Bottled water offered both in the room and at the front desk.

Hidden Gem in Singapore

We had an amazing time at The Vagabond Club. We booked a 3 night stay as part of a longer tour. The room was comfortable if not a little dated but the service, food and proximity to local attractions such as Little India, Arab Street, and very nearby access to MRT made this an ideal location. Special mention to Kavita who looked after us so well during our stay. We will be back when next in Singapore!

This is an interesting property as it’s decorated in an upscale manner to match with the Little India neighborhood. Only stay here if you don’t mind feeling a part of the local neighborhood. The bartender and doorman are very friendly. We rarely saw the front desk person. Top floor suites require several steps to access.

This was my second stay at The Vagabond Club, the last being seven years ago. It's a lovely boutique hotel. From the moment you enter through the front door, it's quiet, stylish, peaceful and cool. I had an ordinary room, not large, but very pretty. I felt comfortable and relaxed. Some really nice and interesting design features, like the bathroom door that is really a wall, and the panel that slides back and forth allowing entry into either the excellent shower or the rest of the bathroom--maximizing the space. The lobby and whisky bar are so plush with cool lighting -- you'll feel like a celebrity. Finally, the neighborhood is really the best. So many interesting restaurants and bars--alive at all hours, while somehow being not too loud or busy at all. I look forward to my next stay.

This hotel has a lot of sophisticated character, and we were excited each time we entered and re-entered. The staff at reception and in the bar/restaurant were professional, friendly, and helpful. We also had one of the best nights of sleep we've had in a while. The food was good; the decor and ambience were excellent. Cost was reasonable.

This hotel was unique… the decor was eclectic and very cool, but the actual building was lacking. The “air conditioning” was just warm air that barely blew. Maintenance came up and said it was fine, but we felt like we were suffocating since the windows didn’t open. The other issues were that the bathroom flooded everyone we took a shower, and the television didn’t work at all. Again maintenance was called and nothing was done.

A lovely business-grade hotel, centrally located with friendly staff and a relaxing yet modern feel.

Our check-in was easy. Staff were very helpful. The whiskey lounge area is funky and beautiful and worth visiting on its own.

We booked two rooms. Rooms were spotless and comfortable. However, one room smelled of cleaning products and the other room had a persistent mechanical drone coming from the AC (which made it challenging to sleep). So it does fall short of perfection.

The overall experience was positive because of their friendly and accommodating staff.

An exceptional and distinctive hotel

This is a beautiful and idiosyncratic hotel in a very convenient location in Singapore. We found the decor and style of the hotel to be very appealing. The staff were exceptionally friendly and welcoming and provided very good service at all times. The room we stayed in, the Vagabond Suite, was spacious and comfortable with plenty of things in the room such as movie options and food and drink to keep us amused. The location is very convenient; only four or five minutes from an MRT stop and on the edge of Little India. We enjoyed wandering around the streets and soaking up the ambiance of a unique and historical area.

My only quibble, and it is a small one, is that I would have liked to have had more food options available. The suite included free breakfast and access to a finger food buffet at times but we found the selection a little limited. We wanted to eat more!

Overall, a very good hotel. I would be happy to stay here again and I would certainly recommend it to others who want something different from the corporate blandness of chain hotels.

The Vagabond Club is a very stylistic and engagingly eclectic hotel. Very different for Singapore. It is perhaps not to everybodies taste - with a rhino for the reception desk and a somewhat bizarre science fiction themed collage video in the lift. The room was small but equally stylish. The executive launch available to deluxe quests was also somewhat unusual being just a long table of nibbles and free drinks from 4.30pm to 7.30pm. Other than walls covered in a what what discordant selection of art works the lounge area itself was very velvety and quite dark. Easy to forget hot sticky Singapore just outside. An experience.

Very stylish and comfortable

I only had a one night stay at the Vagabond Club and very much wish I could have stayed longer. I arrived in the morning after a very long flight. They couldn't check me in immediately, but they did advance my check in time by several hours and offered me some delicious specialty tea. I had a Courtyard Club room, which was comfortable, stylish, and interesting. I really enjoyed the wide variety of arty photographs on the walls. I also really liked the purple tiled shower. The use of a cell phone with free international calls to the US (and five other countries) was a great bonus. The common areas are gorgeous and feel very exclusive. The video and music in the elevator was fun. Breakfast was good, but it's not a buffet and what I ordered came in a pretty small portion. The free alcohol and snacks during the happy hour were nice, if not perfectly organized. There were a few imperfections. The rooms aren't sound proof, and although I had a \"courtyard\" room, I couldn't figure out how to open the door onto the courtyard (maybe I would have had I been there longer). Overall though I just really enjoyed the style and ambiance of this unique hotel.

The hotel and the staff could not have been better. A real pleasure. Nothing was too much trouble and the Chef (who was from New Zealand) deserves a special mention as nothing was too much trouble and he really went out of his way to make the stay extra special. I could not recommend this hotel any higher. A must if you are going to Singapore.

Little gem of a hotel

We stayed at the Vagabond this week, and it definitely did not disappoint. The lobby is stunning, staff are amazing, food is delicious and the free drinks and nibbles in the lounge are perfect to finish the day and start the night !
Rooms are very clean and the beds and pillows are super comfortable. I would definitely stay here again on my next trip to Singapore. Location is also great, close to restaurants and a 8 minute walk to the metro station

Fantastic little gem

This wonderful little gem of a hotel provided the best of both worlds. Hidden away in the streets of Singapore away from the usual tourist bustle but a short walk or even shorter cab ride to anything you need. After travelling for many many years and staying at the usual Hilton and Hyatt type hotels, this hotel provides something truly unique with its artsy eclectic decor, super friendly staff and some truly unique entertainment. This will be one of my little hideaways in Singapore’s little India that I’ll be going back to again and again. One of the most pleasant surprises I’ve come across of my years of travel around asia.

A short walk from Lavender MRT station, this unique hotel is both cosy and comfortable. The staff were very friendly and helpful, and the room was quiet. The feature though is the pieces of art around the premises, including one in the elevator that will captivate you.

Thoroughly enjoyed my stay at the Vahabond. Great hotel, very attentive and helpful staff, they really made my stay. Much more personal then a larger hotel where you're just a number.
Room was lovely and enjoyed the extras like the Nespresso machine and smart phone.
Booked a deluxe room with executive lounge access which was well and truely worth it. Enjoyed the early evening wine and nibbles.
Hotel is near two MRT stations which made getting around Singapore easy. Do yourself a favor and stay at the Vagabond!

QUIRKY & INTERESTING

I enjoyed my stay here, very quirky and interesting hotel. Room was excellent. The bar area was really good. Drinks & nibbles late afternoon for an hour or two were very good with great music playing. The music list was really well thought out. Friendly helpful staff with perhaps one exception, a particularly unfriendly, up herself person at breakfast, but maybe she was just having a bad day, or two. Only criticism, and a very small one, the breakfast menu had Spanish omelette on it which sounded pretty good. It was about the furthest from a Spanish omelette that you could get, I felt like jumping into the kitchen to show them how it should be done. However, that said I’d stay here again.

Eclectic hotel with good transit access

The staff were very hospitable. The hotel is well appointed, with high quality bedding and pleasant/interesting aesthetic design. My only minor critiques are that the room was too small for our luggage, which is not uncommon among hotels in Singapore, from my experience, and the breakfast menu is somewhat limited, however the food quality is good. The hotel is within 5 minutes walk to MRT/bus, and there is decent food within walking distance of the hotel.

The true definition of well designed and operated boutique hotel. It’s cozy yet very rich in design and art. The staff is friendly and very helpful. The locations is very good being close to major transportation. Only downside is that is a noisy area so at times sleeping in the morning was a bit of a challenge. Other than that I can only say great things about the place.

It was a fantastic staycation, albeit, it being a one night stay. The overall experience was great. Makes a staycation an enjoyable one. Not too worry about not getting food around the vicinity, there are plenty of cafes and a shopping mall just walking distance away. Lastly, the scent the hotel management uses at the lift lobby and corridors is so pleasant to the nose. The ambience at the front of house just blew me away.

Quirky hotel in convenient location

.Staff are very friendly and most welcoming, willing to spend time explaining the history of the hotel and origins of the various fascinating artworks with which it is decorated. They were also very helpful in printing out boarding passes as well as providing a map and information about the area. The public areas are beautifully decorated as was our bedroom. The bedroom was quite small however with limited storage in the bedroom and little space to hang clothing, store bags etc. Wonderful toiletries are provided. There is a large lounge but most of it is cordoned off and enclosed by a curtain. Only guests who have paid a premium are allowed in and it felt as though ordinary guests were discouraged from using the few remaining seats outside the enclosed area.. In fact it was not clear if we could use the bar so we did not.
They were let down by a couple of things. One was the stand up comic employed by the bar whose vocabulary was limited to swear words. The other is the service at breakfast where the staff appeared untrained and hapless.

Absolutely loved the hotel Vagabond. The staff were faultless adding personal touches to our stay along with recommendations for places to eat, and things to do/see. The room was spacious (we did upgrade to an executive room), beautifully decorated and extremely comfortable.The breakfast was varied and delicious and the location was fab with three MRT stations nearby but also Little India and Kampong Glam within walking distance. Would definitely stay here again.

If you like a unique experience in Singapore, Vangabond Club is the hotel to stay. Everyone took very good care of me since I stepped into the doorstep.
It is in a wonderful location if you would like to stay close to Little India or Kampong Glam without the craziness right at your doorstep. Subway station was close by so everything is within reach.
The whole hotel is full of artwork and they even give art tour to guest there. I love the breakfast there which I can taste some local cuisine without all the sweat.

Need I say more? You will love it! The ambiance is very cool, staff is super helpful, rooms are squeaky clean. The neighborhood is safe and interesting. I strolled about at 4 am looking for dumplings. Was not disappointed. If you want to try a more intimate hotel, this is the best choice.

Vagabond is different.

Great surprise - an eclectic hotel in the Little India area of Singapore. Décor and style quire different. Service exemplary; with the little ad-ons very welcome- in room mobile to use anytime - local and overseas calls unlimited; and afternoon food and drinks available to snack in the guest area downstairs. Only four storeys, and was worried about traffic noise; but there was none. Quiet and relaxing once inside the hotel. Room was large and bright with skylight in the room with remote closure of the shade useful. King bed in our room was very comfy.

We stayed at Vagabond during the Singapore Rugby 7s because it was one station away from Kallang MRT and the National Stadium. However, the area around the hotel was eye-opening to experience an older part of Singapore where people actually walk around above ground and where there is a sense of community life. The hotel provides maps of local sights and recommended restaurants, along with a \"handy\" phone for making calls and using the internet - very handy for navigating with google maps when you do not have a local SIM. The hotel itself has a louche vibe with artwork covered walls (even the bathroom) and dim lighting. Overall, a decidedly non-Singapore-like place to stay. Highly recommended.

Do like the character but probably not a venue we'd return to as a couple. Service was good and engaging but rooms are too small to qualify as cosy. Perhaps it was our timing but the venue does not seem to achieve its local destination status it is evidently trying to achieve. Also do not like the three tier approach to wifi standards - 'standard' is free and sub-standard (slower than 3G) - the concept of charging extra for a service that does not cost significantly more, if at all, is absurd.

There are so many things I like about this hotel, and I feel almost disloyal by these criticism's, but in fairness to potential future guests I feel the shortcomings should be pointed out. Pluses include the quirkiness of the place, with great art all around. The afternoon tasters were very good, and the breakfast also.
We booked the courtyard rooms, and had visions of whiling away a few hours there, unfortunately the 'courtyard' was a very small area on the first floor, covered in artificial grass, and overlooked by numerous rooms (you couldn't freely talk without being overheard, or running the risk of annoying others). The rooms were tiny, a fact that first came to our attention when the reception staff said that we couldn't get all our luggage in at once (we had to put some into storage), The second problem came when my wife tried to spread out her various kit that women tend to take on holiday, and quite frankly there wasn't enough for her, let alone me.
Another problem was a musty smell, which didn't clear despite being reported.
My final gripe concerns the 2 hours of inclusive drinks and horderves. Whilst the drinks were good, the horderves were somewhat mercurial. At it's best same consisted of a few cheeses, a few meats, and some nuts, at it's worst, some of these were missing. I was also annoyed at the fact that this period started a half hour late on day two (the barman was late), but finished at the allowed time (i.e. we only had 1.5 hours of this facility)

Like we do, we read the previous customer comments on the website written about customer experiences etc and have that touch of doubt in the back of your head, anyway we just finally booked with Hotel Vagabond in Singapore for 6 nights. What I can say, we weren’t disappointed. This was our first trip to Singapore. We arrived late in the evening at the hotel, and welcomed at the door by two friendly hotel staff, who instantly made us feel welcome, made check-in easy and streamlined, I have to agree with previous customer comments that the staff had been really great the entire time we stayed, friendly and welcoming and very helpful. The hotel is located a relatively short walk from Lavender Metro station, overall our train trip from Changi Airport to hotel was quick and easy. If you decide to travel via train service - you travel on the green circuit line from Changi Airport, change trains at Tanah Merah station and continue on the Green Metro circuit until you reach Lavender Station, then a short 10 minute walk to the hotel. We bought a refundable metro ticket $20 which we used over the whole time spent in Singapore using the metro service, trains and buses which are quick, easy and very reliable. Overall the hotel is very clean, tidy, and unique in styling, rooms are not huge, but the bed was very comfortable, great air con & rooms serviced perfectly every day. Thank you Hotel Vagabond, and big thank you to its staff for making our stay in Singapore special & welcoming.

A typical Boutique Hotel with quirky decor and an assault on the visual senses. Chairs in the reception area were intriguing but uncomfortable to sit on.
The room was equally visually sensual but very little free floor space and again not a chair space for the chair to be moved to sit comfortably away from the desk, in the limited floor space. So watching the limited channels for entertainment in English on the television had to be done lying on the bed.
Excellent bed linen, towels and bath robe.
Some of the offers made in my booking were not honored like afternoon tea and no replacement offered, nor was my inclusive breakfast confirmed at booking this was missing from the hotels information, but they did honour it once i produced my original confirmation.
The hotel is in a good location and within easy reach of multiple areas of interest and transport links. A free in room mobile device to take out with you to guide you around the city was available but i could not navigate the phone easily and gave up on it, thats my luddite problem it needs to be very simple for me.
The breakfasts were good but limited for vegetarian choices unless you want curry for breakfast, or half boiled eggs, and the tea was incipid and weak no matter how long you left the tea bag in the pot for, then it got cold.

Nice hotel in Little India

Fabulous staff and relaxing environment. A truly comfortable boutique hotel with comfortable and interesting decor. The room was very clean, modern and the amenities were excellent.
The only problem is that the hotel is relatively new and taxi drivers had to be told how to get there. The location is in Little India, an energetic community in Singapore. Would recommend this hotel if you want to try luxury in a little different way!

A wonderful a day stay

It was a lovely surprise to see the beautiful decor of the hotel. The service was great and came with genuine smiles from everyone. We had a slightly bigger room than standard but we feel it was quite small. Beddings were great, comfy bed,lovely toiletries. Toilet has a really good extractor fan, rain shower was fantastic. Downside, we could hear people singing karaoke from we suspect 'red wine bar' opposite. Although it wasn't too loud. Breakfast was great! Will come again but will choose a suite.

Interesting boutique hotel, good service

The hotel has a overall very interesting feel to it, from the outside it does not gives the exact impression that you'd get from inside. people are super friendly and helpful, very courteous, always smiling. The only thing i felt was that the room was a bit smaller but other than that an excellent hotel.

Drowning in beauty!

The artwork and ambience in this hotel are stellar. I have a long and varied travel history, and this is the nicest place in which I have stayed. Everything-from the warm greeting by a caring and competent staff, to the room, to the location, to the quick and efficient check-in and check-out-was perfect. I would highly recommend this hotel, and will definitely stay here if Imever get back to Singapore!

Brilliant service from the hotel staff

Highlight for me were the staff, they helped us organise our sightseeing, take your (heavy!) luggage up to your room, free afternoon tea. My partner had left his wallet at the hotel and within 5 minutes of our departure they had already contacted the taxi driver.

Stunning property and a spectacular suite

Hotel Vagabond is a very charming and beautiful piece of property that just oozes with style. I had booked the Vagabond Suite for the weekend, and it had completely exceeded my expectations. These days, many hotels have very generic and almost clandestine rooms that just lack a human touch. The Vagabond Suite however, sits on the opposite end of the spectrum: the eclectic and well curated decor (sometimes hilarious - I'm referring to a certain drawing you'll find hanging on the wall) makes it more like a trophy home than a hotel suite.

Service from all parts of the hotel was amazing. Courteous front desk, very friendly housekeepers who were very prompt with requests, and the server (I only spotted one person) at the high tea, just made everything sweeter.

While the location is less than glamorous, it just adds to the charm and mystique of the hotel. Also, while I didn't use them, I believe the free cellphone and neighborhood guides would certainly be terrific for vacationers.

Overall, my stay was spectacular. Beautiful room and stellar service. I will be sure to return!

Sensational boutique hotel in a perfect location

We loved our stay at Hotel Vagabond and were so pleased to find this truly excellent property. Typically we use Singapore's usual list of great business hotels but wanted a neighborhood property with more personality and unique charm for this visit instead. Bingo. This is a new hotel (less than a year) but already superbly designed and extremely well managed (bravo Liz!) with multiple special amenities, a superb chef for breakfast (adding dinner soon) and an ideal central location on the borders of Little India, Arab Quarter, and Kampong Glam. It's a short 4 block walk to the Lavender MRT station (also close to Bugis,) a $7-10 SD Uber from most parts of the city, and surrounded by numerous restaurants and hawker centers. The Vagabond is a highly artistic space filled with style and panache; walls are covered in original artwork and photography, and they always host a resident artist or musical group - never stayed any place quite like it. True, rooms are on the smaller side (typical of Euro properties) but are amazingly quiet, luxuriously appointed with hand-painted fabric panels, feature fine linens, Nespresso machines, quality soaps and lotions, and each room includes a personal Handy/mobile phone for Google Maps, a dedicated local number, and free international calling, something we've never received with any hotel. We travel for business and can't recommend this place highly enough - super special Singapore option, and a fine value for the price. Well done.

Very nice but small rooms

I chose Hotel Vagabond to stay one night in Singapore for a long layover. Overall, I really liked the hotel. The decor was fun and staff was very helpful. I could easily walk to Little India for a delicious meal and the complimentary high tea is a nice touch. My only complaint is that the room was tiny. For one night this was fine, but I wouldn't want to stay in such a small space for an extended period of time.

Boutique hotel near little india

This is an interesting small hotel a short distance away from the commercial areas. It has a huge range of hung art which is one of it's points of difference. The owners have extensive collections on display and often have an artist in residence to both work, and interact with the guests, a novel and interesting idea. The staff were extremely attentive and all clearly very proud of this unique property.
I don't think this place is for everyone but if you are looking for something a bit different with excellent service then you should consider this hotel. However be aware that there is no pool and it is a much smaller property as suggested by being a boutique hotel. The trade off is you will probably be able to meet the owner at the bar and have an interesting conversation, so a different set of expectations will be well rewarded.

Boutique hotel in interesting location

Room layout was well done for small room (common in Singapore). Design and comfort made it feel like a more luxurious hotel, like the nespresso machine and handy phone. Had an a la carte breakfast one morning and while expensive for Singapore, it was the best granola I've ever had. Location is a little odd, close to Little India and Arab Street, but still off the beaten path. Closest subway is about 10 minute walk. I'd visit again.

Nice little boutique hotel with interesting art work throughout: rhinoceros lobby desk, elevator video art installation, hallways, bathrooms, etc. The hotel room is small and not much space to fit a chair between the bed and desk. Nice bed linens. Bathroom fixtures and finishes are of an excellent quality.

Quirky, fun 5 star hotel

Very quiet, but that mean the standard of service we received was even more exception. From emails before, to check out the service was superb. The hotel was very quirky in it's decor, but very well done. Our room had a 4G smart phone to use outside the hotel, which was really useful.
