Excellent location for all services. Very small room but all rooms are small in Singapore. Biggest complain was the sound proofing , is was very poor. You could hear everything happening in the hallway. Nevertheless I would stay there again as it was good value for my money and the bed was comfortable

Staff were awesome and professional you can see in the rooms were they are upgrading to better amenities. I just wish in the room i stayed in, it had enough room to sit on toilet straight on was fine for wife she only 4\"2 but me at 6\" my knees hit wall and my bum was on top of tank. But thats just tall person problems. But the staff were amazing so helpful recomending places to go and see best place for cheap nice food booze etc... highly recommend if your wanting to save $$ on accommodation to be able to spemd elsewhere like the night zoo

While I appreciate that the 81 chain is cheaper compared to other hotels in Singapore, I was quite disappointed that I received a room that was not at all like what I reserved online. The room I reserved had a window; my room, zero windows.. Please give what the customer paid for.. aka DON'T LIE!

The bed was actually quite comfortable and the location was quite good, only 10 minutes from Nicoll Highway MRT station. The A/C was quite good despite having no control over it. The rest of the room was quite rough around the edges and there was no window. This is budget option in Singapore which suited our needs but there wasn’t much too it.

a spartan way to stay in Singapore

Clean rooms. Was offered a room without windows. Insisted on a room with windows. When came to the room discovered that windows are glued so you cannot open them and nothing can be seen outside those windows.
No shower curtain in the washroom.

The staff was very nice. However, there was never hot water in the showers it would turn cold after 30 seconds. The TV didn’t have the right plug in into the wall. Mold on walls and doors. & no AC or windows the rooms are very hot we had to buy a fan for it.

It is what it is a budget hotel, dur to Singapore increasing rates across all acccomadation these hotels and all hotels now are working back the losses from Covid. No fridge, hard bed, but clean. Some noise from Special nightly visitors. but close to some amenities. No fridge makes it hard for short time business travel.

Hotel 81 Heritage is really well located and the staff is kind and attentive. The downside for me was booking a window room but ending up having a frosted window, which is basically the same as having no window at all except that it lets a bit of daylight in; it didn’t open so there was no way to know if it was raining)...

The room was small and the bathroom too (had to close the door when you wanted to use the sink!) but everything was very clean and good value for money and location.

Property was a good location for where we needed to be. Staff was very friendly upon check-in and greeting us if we went out or came back. Bathroom was a lot bigger than the last Hotel 81 I stayed in which is a big plus to me. Noise in the hallway is easily heard but not a big issue to me. It would be nice if they would upgrade their key/lock system on their doors like every other hotel has, an actual key to lug around is annoying and a little inconvenient. Overall, I would definitely stay here again.

Great location, tons of food within reach. Either way, just use the mrt, Lavender/Nicoll are near. To head out, you can use Lavender to avoid stairs, to get back, I would recommend using Nicoll.
Nice cleanliness overall but bad soundproof.

Great central location for exploring Singapore, especially Kampong Glam and Little India. If you just want a clean comfortable place to sleep and you'll be spending most of your time out and about it's great. Plenty of w=eating and drinking places very close.

The hotel isn't bad, and I guess it's ok for its price range in Singapore. There are no city views as stated - the window was sealed with closed shutters outside. The towels were a bit dirty looking (brown stains) and there was a cockroach running around the room when we first entered. The reception staff were helpful and friendly. It was a 10 minute walk from Lavender MRT Station.

We stayed here for one night during a weekend trip to Singapore. Good clean, modern looking hotel.

Room was kind of tight--there's not much space to walk around inside the room. But, the room was good enough for what we needed--a clean place to sleep, shower, and store our luggage. If you're planning on relaxing or spending more time in your hotel--I would suggest looking for a larger hotel.

This is a nice hotel, not luxury!! It's pleasant to sleep in as I was never there throughout the day. The only downfall is that there is no bar fridge in the room as there is a kettle in your room for tea and coffee as they also give you a free bottle of water every day.
It is about 1.8 kilometres from the nearest train station (15-20 min walk). There are bus stopes around the hotel along with a taxi pick up area. There are plenty of restaurants all around the hotel and the food is amazing and quite good on price. Hope this helps.

Pleasant Stay at Hotel 81 - Heritage

I, along with my wife and 14 yr old son, stayed there for eight nights. Positive points about the hotel was its cleanliness and friendly staff. The room was spacious, and the bathroom was clean. Since I arrived early, I had to pay 30 SGD for early check-in. The negative point about the room was that AC was too cold for us and we had to call the reception each night to increase the temperature of the AC, since there was no temperature control facility in the room. The neighborhood of the hotel was peaceful, but it was slightly far from the metro stations (Bugis or Lavender). The nearby Bugis Junction and Bugis Street markets were very good. Little India market was also not very far. Overall our stay was good.

Overall the worst hotel we have ever stayed in. Noise, noise, noise the whole night through by staff and other guests. the noise echoed through the whole building. The cleaners must work the whole night through.

I swear the matress was a block of concrete covered by some vinyl type material which meant the bottom sheet slipped and crumpled each time we turned over or moved on the bed.
We had requested a quiet room but were allocated a room fronting the main street. We asked to change and were given an inside room near the staff store which sounded like it was used all night. Front staff don't seem to care what customers ask for and give no explanation.

This place is rated pretty perfectly. It's nothing spectacular, but for less than $100 a night, it's pretty perfect.

I had an extended stay here - 2 weeks in the Deluxe Queen room. The room was always clean and they always provided bottles of water. The aircon works great and the bed was real comfortable. The room was a bit small, though, and only had a small desk to fit my laptop and a small closet/cabinet with 3 hangers for all my stuff. I basically lived out of my bags for 2 weeks. The staff was super friendly and accommodating as well.

The location is awesome - 20 min walk to Bugis or City Hall MRT, 10/15 min walk to Lavender MRT. Haji Lane and Arab street are right around the corner with great bars and restaurants. Golden Mile Tower is right around the corner as well with great food. Other good eats are right on Jalan Sultan street.

One weird thing that I did catch on to after a while was that this place is also popular for older men to bring younger women back to (most likely working girls). Although I didn't hear any noises, I saw enough old guy/young girl combinations walking in and out randomly (checking out a room for an hour/a night, etc.) to know what was going on. It's a bit awkward but if you can laugh that off, the place is great.

I would recommend staying here if you're on a budget and on a short stay.

The hotel is popular with prostitutes, I saw four with their customers checking-in, just 10 minutes sitting in the lobby.

The room is very small and there is a lot of hallway noise since hourly customers are constantly in and out and cleaners are constantly in and out.

There is no way to adjust the air condition, it is always very cold. The only way is to remove the key from the key slot (which turns off all the electricity).

If you're a young, single male on a budget, it's ideal. If you're a light sleeper or get cold easily, you will be disappointed. If you are a couple, your girlfriend may be turned off by the prostitutes.

Not bad hotel at a good location

The hotel is considered a budget hotel but it's budget only according to the Singaporean standards. For this price there's nothing really budget in it. It's a basic hotel, with small rooms and no extras at all. You just go there to sleep. Don't expect anything more than a room, bed and bathroom which is in fact, ok. Beware, some of the rooms have no windows and those which do, are permanently closed with wooden shutters and you can never open them. Not to mention that these windows are located at very odd places - some of them are very high towards the ceiling. You can't tell whether it's day or night outside. In some of the rooms the air conditioners are either not cold enough or so cold that you have to call the reception so they can turn them off completely. You can't really adjust the temperature because the knobs are weird and don't always respond. But nevertheless, it's not that bad if you are not too fussy. The staff is pretty helpful and friendly so they do their best to fix whatever you're not happy with. Oh, and they finally started providing complimentary internet which in Singapore you usually have to pay extra for. Special thanks to Mr. Rau Ibahim who assisted us with the heavy baggage until it was finally loaded in the taxi.

I would personally recommend this hotel to any casual traveler who visits Singapore and who wants to explore the city without bothering too much about luxury.

Another choice of economical hotels.

Looking for an economical hotel? This one could be your another good option. The hotel is located on the opposite of Sultan's Kitchen which provides you with a variety of delicious foods, yet they are very cheap. The hotel staffs are friendly and very helpful especially the female one. However, it may take you about 10-15 minutes walking from SMRT to the hotel as it is located in between Bugis and Lavender stations.

No respect for guests

This hotel has room cleaners go in to work the midnight shift and they clean rooms while guests try to sleep. No consideration at 1:00am flor paying guests trying to sleep. Cleaner carts rolling in hallways constantly, noise of heavy doors opening and slamming shut. Talking by cleaning staff loud. Complained to front desk twice and they apologized but noise continued. Apparently. They RENT TWICE IN THE SAME DAY. Guests check out then rooms are cleaned again after midnight so they can be rented again. DO NOT STAY IN THIS HOTEL!

Easy to find hotel. About a 10 minute walk from Bugis MRT. No air conditioning control and our room was really cold. When I mentioned this on check out they said we should have told the desk and they could adjust it. Would have been nice to know this earlier. Compact, convenient, cost effective

This hotel is conveniently located and compact but functional. The facilities are basic but the room is very comfortable with all the necessacities: on suite, air conditioning, free wifi, TV and free tea/coffee facilities (including complimentary water bottle). There was no breakfast or food, safe, ironing facilities or fridge.

The en suite had a wet room. Because of the cramped, compact size, the entire bathroom floor becomes wet, and water spills over even on the toilet seat after a shower. This is actually quite a common Asian concept which guests might find discerning.

The location is very central and convenient, particularly if you would like to catch one of the long distance buses to Malaysia that depart from Golden Mile Complex etc.

The price is very reasonable, especially of booked through Expedia and I would stay here again.

Very small room with a tiny bathroom, OK for one night, not OK for a longer stay. Very noisy air conditioning system behind the window with a poor view on the roof and air conditioning system.

Ok, really sums up this hotel, I stayed there for 5 nights, which is far to long! But for 1 or 2 nights it be fine. Its not very clean, but the staff did change my bedding (after I rang them at 11pm to say Id found make up stains n rips in the sheets). Location is great, good subway stations near by and the area has some nice bars and places to eat. Overall Id say this hotel is OK, but if I went back Id spend a bit more money and stay somewhere cleaner.

We reached quite early by 11am and the receptionist guy was very nice and friendly. the rule states that 2pm is the check in, but he some how managed to check in us by 1pm. A very warm welcome. Rooms were very clean n good. No hassles at all. Only the checkin receptionist n checkout receptionist were very nice. All the others had attitudes. Staff used to change regularly. We checked in on 10.11.13 at 1pm and checked out at 13.11.13. No breakfast though. Wifi was good and worked all through out. All the attractions r very closeby.

81 USD for the room is too much, but these are the Singaporean prices. Hotels in Singapore are very expensive, if you are looking for a room and not a bed in a dormitory. Nice welcome, modern hotel, friendly staff. The room is small, with a sealed window. Bathroom is very small but clean (just a few ants, but it is very dificult to get ride of them). Instant coffee facilities. Cable TV. Good AC. Comfy bed. Location is great : plenty of cheap food options nearby.

Good hotel for the price

Hotel 81 is a chain in Singapore and is located everywhere around the island. This hotel is located between Lavender and Bugis MRT station, distance to either MRT is around 10 minutes walk. It is near the famous Arab St. with good food and shisha bar in the evening. Hotel is standard and is good for a nights sleep.

Nice place to stay

We had a room reservation for three. Checking-in was a breeze. However we found the room quite small for 3 persons. It has not enough electrical outlets to have our gadgets charged. No mini-bar or fridge. Really just a place to spend the night. The comfort room has a bathtub but no shower curtains. Its location is accessible to shops and transport. Rate was quite too much for the quality of the room. Overall, the stay was conveniently comfortable. Will surely consider the place for the next stay.

cozy good rooms but some noisy

hotel's rooms are very clean in spite of city's dirtiness around hotel, and the price is cheap enough.
I didn't care at all but I could hear some voice from the corridor, but it may not this hotel's fault but the customer's one and my bad luck.
