We chose NH Hamburg Altona because it had good reviews, and was well located on a major bus route that links to the S-Bahn (if you have a car, parking is available onsite for a fee). Front desk service was fast and efficient, and the room, although not particularly exciting, was spacious and clean. if you would like to keep your stay green, housekeeping provides free bar drink vouchers if you defer your room cleaning. Although we did not use the restaurant, it appeared to offer a good selection of breakfast items. If you need to check in early, or check out late, the front desk provides a secure room for storing your luggage.

The property itself was great. Very modern, clean and sufficiently equipped rooms. Staff were friendly and funny. The little self service shop by the door was a cute little bonus. However the hotel is let down by the lack of things to do in the surrounding area. Unless you drive or use public transport it’s not the best for walking. Overall a great hotel but inconvenient area.

From the moment I stepped in to the lobby, to the moment I left, I was made to feel like a valued guest. I love how the hotel had free drinks and ice creams in the lobby as you waited for check in. The greeting at front desk was warm, friendly and genuine – (annoyingly, I can't remember her name); but she said I was in time for the sauna and if I wanted to use it in the morning she was sure they could open it for me. The room was impeccably clean, the bed was super-comfy, it was so quiet and the shower was hot and powerful. Also amazing value for money at less that 100 euros. Highly recommended.

Nice place too stay. Front desk staff was great and Sarah and Bea at the bar were phenomenal. Dinner was nice but we didn't have the breakfast buffet although I did look at the food and there was a nice selection of food. Only reason I didn't rate excellent across the board is because the beds are a little hard for our liking but they are typical German beds with duvets.

Bit like a premier inn. No soap just plastic dispensers for shower and sink which I really dislike. There was a sharp lump on the laminate floor too. Fruit in reception a nice touch. Scandalous price 19 euro for breakfast when all I want is a cup of tea and couple of slices of toast. We didn’t bother paying for it. It worked out with breakfast elsewhere and lunch and a coffee cheaper than breakfast.

Mediocre experience considering brand and price

Overall nice hotel and probably suffering due to the Covid-19 situation, but considering the price tag and reputation, it was rather disappointing. The hotel seemed worn down; from faded paint of the walls/ceiling to the doors - even the keyholder in the room fell off when we put the key in. Just didn't seem that premium considering we chose to update to the VIP rooms. We don't have a direct comparison of the different rooms, but it wasn't just as nice as we've hoped for. The location, near-by the highway is great for a quick stay.

I Pre paid for a room with King size bed. Went up to Room, it had 2 Twin size beds. Went back down to Reception and then changed to King bed. No Problem. The male receptionist saw that I was utilizing Crutches.

The second room had a 2 foot high, (60 CM) walled Tub, with Shower. Quite Difficult for an individual utilizing Crutches to go in and out of.

The Next day, the Cleaning Lady, Without Knocking/Unannounced, Opened the door and Stepped in.

We brought food with us, since it was stated the Room had a little refrigerator. The Refrigerator was Inoperational. We spoke to a female receptionist and she stated that it could not be repaired/replaced since it was National Unity day in Germany. October 3, 2019. We were told, it would be taken care of in the morning. Never showed up.

The room was good, except the Bathroom had a little Mold along Caulking.

They are remodeling and currently have no Bar to sit at. They do have chairs in the lobby area to sit.

NH Hotel Hamburg, Altona, is not centrally located for sightseeing. There was metro and bus stops within 5-15 minutes, depending on destination.

Had to take taxi to and from Central train station.

Rooms typical \"European\" small and Spartan, but serviceable. Two twins push together for a double bed. Clean except for floor, which left bare feet dusty. Need swifter instead of vacuum on non-carpet floor .

Had nice patio area to sit outside. We didn't eat there so cannot comment on food in restaurant or breakfast. Seemed too expensive to us.

This was our second visit to NH Hamburg Altona. We had the same room and were delighted to see the “welcome back” message written on the bathroom door and the fruit basket on the table. Thank you to the person(s) who was so thoughtful! Our room was clean and comfortable. Dinner at the restaurant was really good. The staff were professional and the food excellent, making a quality experience.

The hotel presents well and the staff at reception are friendly and give necessary information. The room is a good size and has recently been renovated.
There’s a parking garage for a fee and free parking around the outside of the property. If these spaces are all occupied a space can always be found in the adjacent street.
There are good public transport links close to the hotel.

Not the experience on expects in a 4 star hotel. Initially, they assigned us to a room on a floor undergoing construction. Insulation was lacking and we could hear both our neighbours (during the night) and the construction workers (early the next morning). We moved rooms and found ourselves in a room with a cracked toilet, bathroom fixtures falling off the wall, and a very worn floor.

Service was also lacking. Dirty coffee cups were left by room service, towels were taken away and not replaced, and no hand soap was provided.

Sauna and comfy beds? Yes please!

Bed is super comfy. TV is quite big. No issues with noise. The best part though is the free sauna and steam bath (with attached sunroof) which is available to use any time of day and night. I have stayed there two times now and would happily return.

Overnight stop on a long motorcycle journey

Arrived tired and late in the evening after a 14 hour motorcycle ride. The satnav routed me through some dodgy looking back streets but when I entered the hotel was just what I expected when I booked. Good, secure parking. Staff pleasant and helpful. A beer and a laugh with barman before bed. Good access to the motorways but busy morning traffic.

Hidden Treasure on Stresemann Strasse in Altona

Very pleasent experience at NH Hamburg Hotel in Altona. Checked in late was expected greeted warmly. Excellent breakfast buffet (lots of choices) very quiet for a busy street. Very clean, room service very good. While I speak enough German to get by, I did test the English of the staff and it was a good or better than my own.

I highly recommend this Hotel. I chose it simply because it was next to the building where the company I work with was located. While the weather was terrible (ice storm) the staff and the amenties of the hotel made the stay a pleasure.

Stayed here for 3 nights between Xmas and new year. Arrived at 11am but able to check in early. Staff speak English and are welcoming and friendly. Room on 4th floor at the front of the hotel was clean and spacious. No noise from main road outside. Beds comfy, fridge useful for putting our drinks/snacks in, toiletries in bathroom if you were travelling light, safe to put valuables in. TV only had BBC News in English which wasn't great for those chill times in the room. Room quite hot for winter, air con seemed to be warm air which got quite stuffy even after we'd turned it off. Tea/coffee facilities would have been welcomed as we certainly didn't want to pay the mini bar prices! Free wifi is always a bonus but it was slow at times, couldn't really use two devices at once. You'd have to upgrade the wifi if you wanted to watch a film/ YouTube. Had a drink in the bar each night, staff chatty and attentitive. Sky sports was on for those like me wanting to see the footy and darts! Didn't wander round the area but it has a McDonald's and dominos opposite and a couple of restaurants were recommended to us (Scotty's) The bakery opposite was perfect. Delicious croissants, donuts and coffee for a few euros compared to expensive hotel breakfast. We'd get food from there then catch number 3 bus into Hamburg (20mins) if you want to explore the city easily and visit attractions, get a Hamburg Card. You can use all transport and get discounts which saves loads. Love Hamburg!

An excellent hotel to stay in Hamburg

It is very close to a bus stop (almost oposite the hotel) where you can take to go any where, not far from city center. Many good supermakets around the hotel, where you can by foods and drinks (beers). The location is very nice and serounding by the nature and many trees. Staffs are super helpful. Room is big and very comfortable. Breakfasts are gorgeous. I will definitely come back here.

Excellent Staff - Let down by the terrible WIFI

The staff were professional and courteous and the room was perfectly comfortable. However, the free WIFI was so slow that I could barely load a webpage to do my work. And I feel it is disingenuous to advertise such a facility when it is in fact near unusable. I didn't want to pay extra money to upgrade my internet, when I had chosen Novotel because it claimed it provided this service.

Es war alles sehr sauber. Die Zimmer waren super. Das Sofa was zum Bett aufklappbar war war schon etwas kaputt und die Kante beim liegen war nicht so optimal.
Das Frühstück war sehr sehr gut. Alles vorhanden und das Personal super lieb und zuvorkommend. Im ganzen ein guter Aufenthalt sehr saubere Zimmer. Parkplatz vor Ort.
Wir kommen gerne wieder.

Tolles, sauberes und sehr geräumiges Zimmer. Das Personal war sehr freundlich. Hervorragendes Frühstück. Wir hätten allerdings frische Brötchen statt Aufbackbrötchen besser gefunden. Bushaltestellen sind in unmittelbarer Nähe zum Hotel, so dass man schnell überall in Hamburg hinkommen kann. Wir würden jederzeit wieder dieses Hotel buchen. Vielen Dank für den schönen Aufenthalt!

L’hôtel est très beau mais lors de notre séjour il y a eu un changement pour le nettoyage des chambres. Nous y avons passé 4 nuits et après la 3e nuit nous avons trouvé un papier sur le lit pour nous aviser que les chambres ne seraient nettoyées que sur demande au plus tard à 21h30 le soir avant. Économie oui, mais pas sans aviser le client convenablement. Dommage. JD

War wie immer gut

Das perfekte Wetter um oben auf der Terrasse zu sitzen. Auch die Bar am Eingang ist schön.
Positiv zu erwähnen ist, das wenn man kein Housekeeping nutzt, ein Getränkegutschein erhält.
Wer Hunger hat, kann sowohl im Restaurant oder draußen bei Dominos Pizza oder Mc Donalds essen. Es gibt noch ein Italienisches und indisches Restaurant. Alles fußläufig. Eine Bushaltestelle ist auch praktisch vorm Hotel.
