Nothing outstanding about this hotel. If your looking for a place to lay your head while visiting. Good place. Being American, the breakfast buffet was not friendly to my pallet. Very few options. You will also be smack dab in the middle of the Al Jazera area. LoL. Totally safe but be prepared.

I was there 6 days and 5 with no WiFi. The staff was apathetic and even told me sarcastically the “department of WiFi” was working on it. Every day it was going to be the next day. I don’t know who manages this hotel but they should visit and look at it through the eyes of a guest. To advertise WiFi and soundproof rooms when there was no effort to provide either is deceptive. The WiFi WAS working for the hotel office and security. I could see it when I tried to access it. I’m guessing they turn off guest access to save money?

The area around the hotel was third world. Felt unsafe every time we walked out the front door, got followed by a creepy man who was definitely trying to snatch my wife's purse. Breakfast was very poor and the room was below standard for a city hotel. Would not recommend this hotel for females & westerners.

We booked Grand 5 Hotel & Plaza Sukhumvit via Lastminute.com on June 3, 2025. The listing promised a clean, 4-star hotel, ideal for our urgent medical trip.
What we arrived just after midnight it was shocking:
The “family connecting rooms” were filthy, damaged, and stank of cigarette smoke - despite being listed as non-smoking. The damp, musty air from poorly maintained A/C was hazardous for my wife, who has respiratory issues.
We were shown another room, but it was just as bad. The receptionist said these were the “best rooms” available - and the rest were smoking floors.
My unwell wife left by tuk-tuk to search Bangkok for a clean hotel and finally found one at 3am. She paid out of pocket while my two sons and I sat stranded in the dirty lobby for hours.
We contacted Lastminute.com the next day. They said they’d reach out to the hotel. Days later, they told us the manager had refused a refund. Their final message? “We tried, the manager said no.”
Lastminute misrepresented this property, failed to vet its quality, and ignored all follow-up complaints. Their handling of this serious matter - involving health risks - was evasive, dismissive, and disgraceful. We are now proceeding with formal complaints through Consumer Protection WA, the OAIC, and a chargeback with our bank.

I stay there every time I go to Bangkok awesome hotel very centralized to everything that I needed… great staff… excellent housekeeping staff rooms are super clean. Showers are the best in Bangkok… very happy overall and they also have a grocery store on the first floor… 5 stars for me for the money…

The hotel itself was okay for location . The manager was a complete DH All he wanted to do was scamming money off all customers. I paid for a grand deluxe and got a room with no view . I was also on my way to the airport and 5 mins into my taxi ride and realised that i left 1000 Aussie in my room safe . Within 5 minutes of returning to hotel they had the safe open and $150 Aussie had been taken . Im reporting to police. Never again worst service experienced in 30 years of travel .

Location - very close to Nana Plaza, so if you want a red light district 2 blocks away, I guess it's good. Not much in the way of Thai food in the immediate area, but lots of Turkish restaurants and shops.
Air conditioning was super sketchy. It was set at 17 but the temp was at 28. Asked for someone to fix it, and they sent someone to set the temp to 10. Got back to the room, and the temp was 11. Reset the temp to 17, woke up in the middle of the night to 28 degrees again. Basically, it worked some of the time, but odds are you were freezing or melting at the air conditioner's discretion.
Lots of taxis and tuk tuks outside the hotel, but if you're trying to use Bolt or Grab, directions send the driver to the other side of the busy road. The nearest place to walk across the road is about a block in either direction, so most won't wait for you. And for a car to turn around, is a few blocks on a very busy road. So, many times the car service would just cancel on you. If you're going to Chinatown or the temples it about an hour drive in traffic - and there's always traffic.
I've stayed at worse, I've stayed at better. I wouldn't stay there again.

Rating is over rated for this hotel. It should only 2 star hotel. Security folks aware nice and restaurant server were nice as well. Very horrible breakfast choice of menu, which only target specific ethnic people mainly. I will never stay here off course again and I won’t recommend to anyone with common sense. Over rated

This is not a four star hotel as advertised. The breakfast buffet was poor quality. After trying it my first day I chose not to eat at the hotel again. The room was decent but not great. Spa was phenomenal! I would never stay here again. I would spend a little extra money and stay at a more recognized hotel.

The staff at the grand 5 plaza hotel really care about their guest and the hotel is well organized with security guard on site 24 hrs and house keeping staff really care about the cleanliness of the guest rooms. The two types of glass bottles was both listed at the rooms pricelist while the plastic ones were not, so I supposed the plastic ones not listed was complimentary.
However upon checking out I was told that the ones listed at 50 baht at the price list was actually the complimentary ones, and the plastic water bottles I had taken was priced 50 baht each. So I had to pay 100 baht for two small plastic bottles of water which is 7 baht at 7-11.

I had to go to get dental work done so the hotel was very close. Centrally located so i felt i was in a good spot. The stores down stairs were nice and there is a market store very close to buy wayers and snacks. The room was very good and no issues to report. I would stay again for sure.

Have stayed several times at this hotel; selected mainly due to very convenient location on Sukhumvit Soi 5. Many restaurants, shops, easy access to BTS Nana Station. 4 year old hotel, so no musty odor or feel, but amenities and room facilities are not plush; just basic as to what hotel can get by at cheapest price to them. Bed and towels are good. Price is also very attractive for what you get.

Personally I like the location, I have stayed here a few times. The thing that I found annoying was when people don’t close their doors a loud beeping goes off and with all the loud rude Indians in the place they don’t care, they stand in the hallway yelling up and down talking to each other but I have found a quiet room and request it when I stay there. Have had that room last 2 times now. So it’s pretty good. If I didn’t get that room I would be annoyed

Efficiently run, clean, courteous staff, everything is in proper working order. The included breakfast is complete with a fresh omelet bar. In a busy part of town but the sound proofing is sufficient. The neighborhood includes middle eastern themed shops and eateries. About 400 meters to nearest subway station. Good WiFi. I would stay there again.

Check in staff were not pleasant. The room is fine, but the condition is not the best. I had to ask housekeeping to change the sheets as they were dirty (really dirty - brown spots). Room is clean and neat, but the air conditioning is noisy in the night throughout our stay. On our last night, the air con auto adjusted to 20 degree in the middle of night and we were not able to set it back to a more comfortable temperature. There are many Middle East eateries around the area and a supermarket next to the hotel; walking distance to Nana BTS; breakfast is decent but seems to cater more to the Middle East/Indian taste. Reception staff very helpful with information. Overall stay is good.

I'ved checked in very late about 2100. So same day I asked for late check out, they gave me only one hour extra for check out (until 1300) they said we can not gave you more because tomorrow we are fully booked. Next day I'ved tried again and they said you have to pay 600 THB and can stay until 1800 so it was not matter of fully booked. Day of arrival reception said that next day we are fully booked and day of check out reception said that you can check out late but you have to pay, so there was a conflict between two receptions.

This is an awesome, very affordable hotel. Large modern room. Downstairs is a small mall with food, Starbucks, other good shops. I only stayed one night to fill a booking error I made, wish it was longer.

Generally a nice hotel with great staff but be very careful to communicate with them about your security deposit and whether you can bring guests back to your room. I was told 100BHT to bring a guest back but when checking out was then told it was 900BHT. They also charge you for the drinking water in the fridge and will take that off your deposit, most hotels in Thailand provide free drinking water, not this one.
