Checked in, then I was told I couldn’t eat in the bar or restaurant, as there is a a quiz night on, and all the tables are reserved for the quiz.
The quiz was noisy and heard in my room till late, as they opened all the corridor doors !

This was a return visit despite a poor experience earlier in the year. The welcome was almost non existent when I was shown to my room. The Boot is dirty and shabby especially in the public areas. The staff have a dismissive attitude and the level of service is dreadful with a lack of observation or care.

The pub was lovely, staff were gracious and polite, evening meal and breakfast delicious. Unfortunately the condition of the bedroom was terrible due too stale water smell from the shower. Disappointingly this ruined what would have been a nice stay.

My room was nicely appointed but had tiny bathroom with a very tight shower cubicle. Unfortunately, as the room was located above the bar, it was quiet noisy until closing time. The front of the pub is illuminated throughout the night and, despite the heavy curtains to the window, a lot of light came into the room.
Dinner was a huge disappointment. The menu was quite limited and so I chose the Brixham Market fish stew. I asked the waitress what it contained but she had no idea but returned from the kitchen with the answer: haddock, prawns and mussels. I was completely shocked when my meal arrived a few minutes later which automatically made me question the process in the kitchen. The dish was disappointing with a heavy tomato base which killed any flavours. The saffron potatoes were completely smothered in the heavy sauce so it was impossible to taste the delicate flavour of saffron. Again, staff training was lacking: no receptacle for my muscle shells, no finger bowl which was essential with the tomato gloop and nobody asked if everything was ok. The man who I would assume was in charge, had an irritating habit of stroking his beard which, in a restaurant, was quite unpleasant. Nobody enquired if they could get me anything else so retired back to the bar for coffee.
Breakfast was a shambles: there was no coffee available as the machine had been ‘turned off’.
A lack of professionalism and poor service.

The staff were very welcoming. I was traveling alone so decided to book the snug bedroom. I was pleasantly surprised. It was well equipped with tea and coffee facilities, large disabled access wet room. TV and an extra rad if I was cold. For the one night stay it had everything I needed. I stay in hotels every week but at this price £135 one night the breakfast should’ve been included it is but a full English is an extra £4.50. There was no cereal no fruit no fruit juice and no eggs.

Great food and location
A nice stay when in the area. The food is good, as are the team. I did hear some locals moaning about both, however that isn't my experience at all. The rooms are good, I had a different room this time and it's probably due for some tlc, however it was serviceable and the bed was comfy etc. The Bowl has a nice feel in a lovely location - it was a stunning evening to sit outside and dine whilst reading a book - with the bell ringing practise starting in the evening.

This very special hotel is just what I was looking for, a small hotel, that is very quiet, nowhere near an interstate (noise), has friendly staff, great food, and a very old yet clean pub bar area. We ate two meals there, their included 'free' breakfast was a FULL English breakfast, with SUPERB food, and friendly service. I will definitely stay there with my wife again next time we travel to the Bristol area. Top notch hotel, pub, restaurant, all tied up together in a very quiet and safe place. Thank you Adam, Rhys, and the manager and waitress who I met, and are super-nice and friendly.

The Inn was charming but unfortunately our room was very small. We overlooked the terrace and live music had been booked for 5pm which made it impossible to use the room, we had no prior knowledge of this. We were informed he finished at 8 but this wasn’t the case it went in until 10. We had evening meal and although very slow service was fine. Breakfast also was very good.

The room is as so small I had to go on my knees in the bathroom to have a look wash and bend down to go to the toilet I have stayed here several times but this room was terrible I didn’t even fit in the bed and the shower water came in the bedroom onto the carpet.. the steak at dinner was over done burnt even I won’t be staying again.

Our second stay at the Beautiful Bowl Inn. If you’re looking for somewhere to stay that has real character and charm, the Bowl ticks every box. The rooms, whilst not big are very comfortable with fluffy towels and crisp white sheets. Lovely touches in the room and full of quirky features. The best bit is the lovely pub itself which is absolutely delightful, a real old fashioned pub with good beers and a really lovely menu. The atmosphere is lovely.The staff are friendly and helpful and it was a treat having a delicious meal and climbing the stairs to bed. Breakfast is also very good and has a varied menu to suit all tastes. Make sure you book in advance to eat at the Bowl as they are always full. We will be back, thank you for another lovely stay.

The room and the food was excellent. The only thing that let it down was the service at the evening meal. We had booked for meals on two nights but cancelled the second because of the poor service. I had to go to the bar twice having been presented with the menu when no serving staff had come to take our order after 15 minutes.

I had a great one-night stay at The Bowl. My room was clean and comfortable and the fish and chip supper and full English the next morning were both excellent. Water pressure in the shower was a bit lacklustre but that was the only negative. Will definitely stay here again.

This was our 1st stay here. It was in a very quiet area. The pub and the the rooms are very well kept and very clean. We were checked in quickly and politely by a young barman. The room was beautiful very rustic with all ammenties we needed for our short stay. It was lovely and quiet.

The room needed a thorough dusting, fluff and dust behind bedside cabinets, on lampshades and on the actual wallpaper behind the bed. Shower needed regrouting and water didn't flow away easily. Otherwise it was a lovely stay in a pretty village with a lovely choice of breakfast

The staff were pleasant at check in breakfast and dinner with good vegan and gluten free options BUT the rooms were very tired and the curtains particularly the nets were dirty. Our bathroom was minute (understand it’s an old building) and we were over the cellar so had the noise if the compressor all night. Had very little sleep and staff concealed the problem at 22.00 and 23.00 when asked implying it would cease as was the dish washer Our daughters room down stairs was similarly tired. The linen and towels were of good quality.

The best beds of any hotel I have ever stayed in! We absolutely loved our stay at The Bowl Inn - it is really well situated just off the M5, but I’m very easy reach of Bristol City Centre. There is a fantastic drinks selection and we were fortunate to have the room overlooking the terrace. The breakfasts were first class (perfectly poached Clarence Court eggs!) and excellent coffee. The staff are friendly and Lauren couldn’t do enough for you. We can’t wait to return after the refurbishment!!

Quaint but incredible stay!
The hotel and pub was amazing! Not only were the staff very friendly, helpful and accommodating (I am a bit of a fussy eater) but the service was second to none! Allowed us into our room a little earlier as we’d arrived just before 3. The room was cosy and clean, the shower was lovely. They kept a table for us for the evening so we wouldn’t be disappointed and my goodness the food did not disappoint! It was incredible, tasty and better than anything I’ve had in a long time! The meal sizes were great, there was barely a wait for the food and there was a good selection for everyone. The desserts were brilliant and to top it off, we had the best breakfast I’ve had in a hotel the next morning! All in all, a fantastic stay!

The Bowl proved to be a truly wonderful surprise resultng in a fabulous stay. The warm welcome we received was hugely appreciated and the staff coukd not have been more thoughtful and friendly. Rooms could do with a spruce up, the decor itself keeps with the building but the bed base was dirty, the tiles near the extractor were falling off, as was the towel rail, the ceiling in the bathroom also had water marks on so maybe some paint lastly the shower pressure was almost non existent and with no bath I made do as it was only one night I knew I’d only need two showers.
Food was lovely and the staff polite and helpful.
