Staff was very helpful and friendly; my single room was clean with a great view of the falls; water pressure in the shower was great! Breakfast was simple and filling. The only minor complaint I would have is the creaking floors and hearing everyone else’s floors creak but I had ear plugs so it didn’t affect me as much as it could have if I didn’t have them. It’s a small town as it is, but the location is great and not far from the train station.

Hotel is perfectly located on Lauterbrunnen main street next to bus stop and railway station. Rooms are compact but comfortable. Excellent breakfast and restaurant is also very good with excellent menu and nice roadside patio seating. Reception hours are limited and sometimes hard to find someone to assist but staff were always helpful.

The hotel is in a very convenient and beautiful location, which makes it a good choice if you want easy access to the surroundings. The staff were very kind and welcoming, which I truly appreciated. However, the overall condition of the hotel could use some improvement. My room had a humid smell, so I often had to keep the window open, but that made the room quite cold. The breakfast was unfortunately below average, and given that it’s a 2-star hotel, I wasn’t expecting luxury, but the price felt quite high—likely because of the location.

Amazing location and an even better price. I had a single room and it was very small, but it was clean, everything worked and I had an incredible view out my window. The other reviews that mention flies at breakfast aren't wrong, but this is a dairy region. There are flies all over. It isn't a disaster, but if this is going to wreck your trip maybe stay in Interlaken.

This is truly a 2-star hotel with virtually no amenities — no tea, coffee, or basic comforts in the room. The balcony is shared across the entire floor, meaning other guests can walk directly outside your room, which felt intrusive. Unfortunately, some very noisy guests lingered on the balcony for long periods, disrupting the stay.
The restaurant was a big letdown. There were flies everywhere, including on the food, which was quite off-putting and left me genuinely concerned about hygiene. It’s unacceptable, especially given how expensive it is to stay here. It seems the hotel puts in minimal effort, likely relying on the limited nearby accommodation options. Overall, not worth the high price — disappointing and unhygienic.

The Hotel Oberland was the perfect place to stay in Lauterbrunnen. We stayed here on the recommendation of Rick Steves and it was perfect for our three days. We stayed across the street in like a mini apartment down the steps towards the back of the building. We had plenty of space with 2 beds, a kitchenette, stove top, microwave and refrigerator. The Coop grocery was a 5 minute walk down the road if we needed anything. The room was extremely clean, warm and plenty of space to move around. The women at the reception desk, especially Milka and Sundra were great. They spoke English very well and were helpful with any question we had about transportation and recommendations on what to eat or how we should spend some of our days in the city. They were both amazing. It was extremely helpful that our hotel had breakfast everyday for all the guests. They had a selection of fruit, cold meats and cheeses, hard boiled eggs, a delicious bread assortment, cereals, porridge and an amazing coffee maker. I would stay here again if I was in the area. You are close to the bus station and a nice 40 minute easy walk to Trummelbach Falls and right down the street from Staubbach Falls. You are truly right in the middle of everything and you can hear the bells from the cows which is such a serene experience in itself.

Lovely preserved hotel that brings you back in time right in the middle of Lauterbrunnen. Part of the front of the hotel was used in the James Bond movie “Her Majesty’s Secret Service” back in the 1960’s. The scenery from the hotel terrace and front patio is spectacular! However, I strongly suggest booking a larger room and not the single room for 1. It was tiny and I struggled with fitting an open suitcase on the floor. The bathroom was even tinier and if you are over 6’ - you will be hunched over - especially in the shower. But the great service and super restaurant made up for it.

You're in Lauterbrunnen for the scenic views and the hiking, and if you're doing it right - you shouldn't be hanging around in your room too much! That being said, this hotel is extremely outdated. I was a little taken aback at how old the carpet, bathroom fittings and furnishings are. I paid $350 CHF (close to $700 AUD) for one night, and to be honest, I expected more. This is bare bones, no-frills accommodation. The room was musty, so I left the balcony doors open all night (and I'm not usually sensitive to smells). The bathroom is insanely tiny, you can't open the door more than halfway before it hits the toilet. The shower was straight-up 1970s. There is no lift (understandable, this is an old property in a little Swiss mountain town!), but after long travel days - pulling my 30kg suitcase up 4 flights of stairs was a complete struggle. All in all, I had a good stay, I slept well, and I appreciated the location and beautiful view - but I would pick a different property for next time unless they commit to a serious renovation.

We stayed for 2 nights in October. Hotel is a short walk from train and is centrally located. Our room was a corner room with a balcony overlooking the street, and the waterfalls were literally a stone's throw away. The view over the countryside was lovely. The room was a bit dated, and on the small side, but the washroom - I laughed out loud at how small it was. You could barely get inside the room and close the door behind yourself. Not a deal-breaker, but be warned. For the price that we paid to stay here, I honestly did expect a bit better of a room, but in all honesty, I'm not in Switzerland to stay in my room.

As a solo traveler, I always look for an inexpensive and minimalistic place to stay. Hotel Oberland was ideal for cost and had just enough for the room, without all the frills! I didn't expect a terrace and I was even happier when I got one with this place! I guess it's all about the simple things for me! :)

You can’t really beat the location of this hotel. It’s very close to the train station and there is a bus stop right outside that can take you further into the valley. There are 2 buildings and some rooms have a view of the valley and Wengen, while others have a view of the iconic waterfall. Maybe request if you have a preference. The restaurant was good- make a reservation with them when you check in during peak season as it gets very busy. Helpful enough staff. No early check in. The “luggage storage” is really just leaving it in the lobby. I’m happy to hear that the property is being renovated, as it is much needed (the bathroom was updated, but the rest of the room’s decor as well as the mattress need it.)

Perfect stay in Lauterbrunnen
We had an 11 night stop at the Oberland and it was one of the best stays at any hotel we have had. Starting with the receptionist she was friendly, polite, informative, helpful all that you want. The advice on local amenities was excellent. We had requested a room with a mountain view, we got a room at the front with a view of the Jungfrau and the whole valley. The room was very spacious with a balcony, in perfect condition and more than fulfilled our expectations. Breakfast was an excellent continental with a good choice. Early breakfasts were available for the early mountain trips which is a major plus. The restaurant is one of the best in the town, it was full every night so booking is essential. The menu is varied and reasonably priced, the food is excellent. All staff are helpful, efficient and very friendly. The hotel is a family business and the owners always seem to be in attendance from early morning to the evening. The attention they pay to their guests is outstanding, they make you feel totally at home, the perfect hosts. Overall we cannot recommend this hotel highly enough it made our holiday.

This hotel is located in the heart of Lauterbrunnen if you want to stay there. i appreciated the early check in when I arrived at 1pm. The hotel room was big and I had a balcony overlooking the mountains which was beautiful. The room was clean but I didnt like the bathroom. The shower was designed in a weird way. When u have to take a shower, you have to sit down and u cant stand up because you will hit your head as the ceiling was uneven. I would feel bad for tall people who will likely suffer head injury. The breakfast was awful and its the same menu everyday and the only hot breakfast they had was soft boiled eggs. Will I stay here again? I wouldn’t but the service was amazing.

The room was very comfortable with a nice size bathroom with a towel warmer. We had a balcony, which I always love, from which we could see Staubbach Falls. There was a coffee/tea room downstairs so we could get hot water for our tea and instant coffee.
