The staff was really nice and the breakfast area was quite with a beautiful scenery. However, this brings me back to a YMCA camp atmosphere where i had to share the bathroom with others. Please, don't get freaked out when you are in the shower and the sensor lights turn off on you. A little far from the bus stop, but manageable. However, coming back to the hotel, you are walking up hill so bring a water bottle for your exercise. I felt the staff was the jewels of this hotel site.

Stayed in a studio with shared bathroom (not sure how Expedia booked me for it as I had selected private bathroom option). Biggest issue was lack of transportation. Uber rides cost around 30 CHF for a 2 minute ride. The hotel is up a hill so not best to walk around with luggage - also has no elevator.
The beds were comfortable and breakfast was lovely. So maybe this works best for travellers on a tight budget and travelling light.

Inconvenient access to Interlaken town

Hotel situated in a distant location with no public transport along hotel route in jungle area. If you use public transport to access to Interlaken town or train stations ( ost or west ), then you need to walk the way down 1.5km to the main road for a bus unless you can afford for a taxi on every trip. I strongly don't recommend this hotel as its not an ideal place to enjoy your stay. You will find it a burden instead of pleasure.

The room was OK. It was old n had wooden floor. Our first night, the folks above us made too much noise...everytime they walk, you can hear in your room. In addition, The rooms do not have fans or AC. Not only that, our room was on the back side of the hotel by the highway. In order to keep the room cold n have some air circulation, we had to leave the windows open...but when we left the windows open, we could hear the sound of the traffic from the highway, so the very first night, whole family could not sleep at all. The next morning, explained the situation to a front desk lady named \"Ursula\" and she ensured that we at least get a fan in the room. Other nights were little better with the help of a fan. Ursula was very friendly and helped us a lot during our stay. Rest of Hotel staff was great. Awesome breakfast in the morning as well. I am giving 3 star only because of our room condition n location in the hotel. The bathrooms are shared, but they are very neat and clean, so appreciate the hotel's staff for keeping them in great shape. If you are accustomed to most of European hotels (no fans/no AC) then you will be fine. I booked this hotel at the very last day before our trip, so guessing all the rooms were gone. Hotel is not far from downtown Interlaken. Free parking at the hotel which was good.

Beautiful area, unfortunately, during our first nigh a picture fell on my son’s bed. Nobody came to fix it after my request. They served all cheese during breakfast, my son got sick because of that. Don’t recommend it.

We were a group of 3 looking for budget accommodations near Harder Klum. Hotel is basic but clean and comfortable. There appeared to be ~5 rooms per floor which shared bathrooms and a shower per floor. No elevators, so we did need to carry our luggage up 3 flights. There was free parking in front of the building and breakfast was excellent. We had a rental car, but there is a restaurant/ bar within the hotel and a brewery and another little bar/restaurant ~2 min walk. Overall, I would recommend if you’re traveling on a budget and looking for basic accommodations.

Great customer service with decent facilities

Helpful hotel staff and great customer service. I had a good experience staying at this hotel.
The hotel staff ensured that I could check in late in the night which was great.
The kitchen was clean and had necessary utensils for us to cook breakfast during the stay. The facilities at the room were decent but there is a good scope for improvement.

The hotel desk had a lot of suggestions for us as we were visiting Interlaken for the first time.

Overall a good experience at the hotel. I would suggest the hotel.

First timers in Interlaken!

Perfect location, peaceful, near goats and cows grazing yet a great walk into Interlaken to connect to the train/busses! Safe and quiet and clean. Very helpful staff and friendly! Loved Iseltwald as well! Laundry and kitchen was very modern yet the windows opened up to the sound of the bells on the goats grazing on a green pasteure!!

Don't book the apartment. This is pathetic location. Kitchen and bathroom were broken and when we told the owner about it he started arguing and fighting with us that you broken it intentionally. We vacated the flat within 5 minutes of checked in. Please don't go here.
The area is also scarry and not good for family.

The hotel is a family run hotel. some of the rooms are in need of a renovation but were extremely clean and comfortable with great views. The restaurant and common areas have been redone and are very nice. The staff go above and beyond to make your stay great. We really enjoyed our stay and it was very convenient on our way to Grindelwald.

excellent service. View of jungfrau peak from the hotel room is spectacular. Amazing breakfast with lots of variety.

Interlaken west railway station is about 10 mins by walk, however interlaken ost station is not walkable but about 6 mins by taxi. If you have luggages suggest you get down at interlaken ost station and take the taxi which would cost about 22~25 chf.

Nice hotel - balcony with mountain view.Courteous staff, english speaking n helpful. Clean room A common room for laundry n ironing. Can do minor cooking if u wish. Hot water dispenser available at any time. Only inconvenience is the shower n wc, need to share. But price is reasonable. Only one bus route no: 104 serving and ends by 7pm plus. Anyway taxi from interlaken west is only 14 swiss franc.

No one would ever go back twice to this hotel.

This place is fairly cheap by Interlaken standards but it is basically a backpackers joint marketed as an hotel.
Honestly, they probably rely on booking websites like Expedia to get one time customers because no one will go back a second time. It is clean and staff are friendly but for the price you expect a lot more. When booking it is not clear that they have shared bathrooms until you finish the booking.

Nice location

We traveled by car and the locations was perfect to reach the cities on the mountains. The parking lot is not covered, but we could always find a spot. The shared WC was relatively clean, such as the shower. However, the beds were not comfortable. The price is high, but good compared to the really expensive prices in the region.

The hotel location is up on a hill, if you have no car you have to walk a long distance from the bus stop or from train station.The staff is very friendly, but the room as they say no shower in the room, so you have to shower in the shared shower room. No hair drier, no shower gel and shampoo. Room is not soundproofing, you can hear people talking from next room.

Clean hotel off th beaten path

This hotel is a good clean option but is about a mile outside of the city. It also has community bath rooms so feels a bit more like a hostel. Breakfast was awesome, views are great, internet access was very good. Hotel staff were very helpful planning trips. I would stay there again.

Nice view, great price

The budget wald hotel is near the outskirts of interlaken. It's close to the mountains if you're looking for a great hike. They also offer bike rentals, which only takes about 30 minutes to get to the other side of interlaken. The staff has been more than courteous the entire stay. It's a really nice and cozy hotel compared to the more modern hotels. However, the regular wald hotel is right next door so if you don't like the cozy/old style of the budget, you can always upgrade next door. Lucky find!!

Lovely hotel with great character

We picked this hotel because of its price and were pleasantly surprised with it. Although the bathrooms and showers are shared on each floor, that was never a problem because they keep it very clean and neat, and we never had to wait in line to use either. Also you get a small sink in your room. They make it very clear that the tap water is potable (it comes straight from the lake) - make sure you try it, it is delicious! The continental breakfast is good. The staff are all friendly and helpful. We hiked the path they recommended and absolutely loved it! The restaurant by the hotel is on the pricier side, but great food. Also, if you want to try local food, don't count on finding a good local restaurant in Interlaken - try going to the villages outside the city! Within the city, the choices are few and not very authentic. Overall lovely trip!

Hotel was priced right for the Very expensive city of Interlaken. Set upon a hill between Interlaken main city and the smaller villages heading towards Grindlewald. For backpackers this may be a bit out of the way from the main train station and hotels closer to the T might be more preferable. For those with a car or other transport options I felt like the price difference from the Hotel Interlaken or those on the river were worth the two min drive at this hotel. It is by the free way so if your looking for that in the woods feel with out any noise then stay in the smaller/pricier options. I live in a city and the noise that we experienced did not take away from a nights sleep. Showers were clean although shared/ same as bathrooms. Beds were comfy (twins together) STAFF was incredibly nice/funny and had utility plugs for use. Wifi worked fine. Rooms have balconies. I found it to be well worth the money and stay. I did have a car however... (free parking as well)

Very very friendly and helpful staff, whether it is Stefan at the front desk or the staff in the breakfast area, they were always friendly and helpful. Stefan gives an overview about Interlaken and the surrounding areas when you check in. Hotel room is not that great but compared to the prices of other hotels in the area, it may be worth.

Decent hotel with poor connectivity

It's more of a hostel type accommodation. Bathrooms/toilets are shared/common. Rooms, bathrooms are clean and maintained well. The biggest minus is it's location. It is located uphill. You need to walk atleast 10 mins downhill for the nearest bus stop, up hill will take atleast 20 mins. If you have rented a car this is a good place to stay. Otherwise it would be better to find something near a bus stop or rail station. We ended up spending for taxi when returning at the end of the day - costs about 15 chf from Interlaken West, 25 chf from Interlaken ost. If you are travelling with family and kids without car rental, I wouldn't recommend this hotel. Good for bachelor type of high energy groups who can walk.

Very nice hotel with great surroundings

I have stayed in this hotel for 2 nights in hottest summer of Lucerne. Hotel staff and service was excellent and we enjoyed view of lake side sitting offered by hotel. This was the only hotel who offerred table fan in Switzerland. I know its strange but yes table fan :) . It is but far from City so if you are travelling with loads of baggage get ready to hold on your muscles. Overall I would recommend to stay in this place due to nice service and beautiful surroundings.

shared bathrooms and no air con was to be expected, but it was uncomfortably hot, and opening the window meant that we had all the road noise and the late night drinkers kept us awake. Breakfast was okay but nothing special. It really is in the middle of nowhere so a taxi fare negated the budget aspect. The one great thing was that it was in walking distance to an amazing zip wire course, so in the end worth it. It seems to cater for bus tours and not back packers and I should think that they were a little more satisfied. I would not recommend it or go there again.

First impression are what is this about? Lino floors, no television or ensuite however the staff are really good, the hotel is spotless, the breakfast excellent the views to die for. A really difficult place to assess but over time the place really grows on you its only real draw back is that without a car it is 10 to 15 francs per trip in a taxi from Interlaken.

The owner/managers, Rene and Margot, are very nice and helpful. We stayed there four nights. At first my wife and three teenage children were a bit put off with having the bathroom and shower down the hall, but in a short time none of them cared about that. We really felt like we were staying at an old style European hotel, and the cost was much less than at other hotels in Interlaken. We had a car, which is helpful. The hotel is about a mile from downtown Interlaken. I would not hesitate to go back to the hotel.
