Very nice room and hotel. Area ok to walk in, good restaurants nearby. AC didnt quite work as well as we hoped but think maybe it wasnt offered during \"summer\" months.
Only had free breakfast in restaurant - staff friendly but service not great. Had to track down and pour our own coffee 2 out of 3 days

Stayed in CapeTown for 4 days prior to joining a cruise ship. This hotel is in a more central area and we found lots of great restaurants around the area as well as eating in the hotel. Staff were very friendly and helpful and the city safety personel on each street junction made us feel safe. Roof top bar and balcony with small pool was a delight.

This was a good location for getting around downtown Cape Town. It was easy and inexpensive to use Uber to go to places that were a little farther away. The hotel does not have a concierge so we had to figure out a lot of things on our own. The bed was a little hard, and the pillow is very flat.

Great hotel at a great value!

The SunSquare was a great place to spend our five nights in Capetown! It is a beautiful hotel, in a great location - in City Bowl and walking distance to V&A - and the staff was great. The room was wonderful and even had a view of Bo-Kaap. The full breakfast has everything and was tasty though it was a bit slow at times given some big crowds. The rooftop had a pool and also bar with outside seating and incredible views of the harbor and also Table Mountain. The hotel was very helpful arranging airport transfer. Really wonderful hotel and very reasonable.

Beautiful new property. Location excellent to explore market and muslim section but evening can look bit scary as there are homeless around. I wouldn’t mind staying rather here and take Uber around that is about $4 to go anywhere around town and be in nice property than to be at Waterfront that is located close to the restaurants but is very wore down. Loved this hotel

Stay Somewhere Else - Bad Service

My stay was less than pleasant. Customer service was subpar. They didn’t have a room available for 2 people on the first night, so my sister and I had to split up and then change rooms the second.

Also, the breakfast is mediocre. The amenities and toiletries and subpar. Location is dangerous for tourists. We were told not to walk around on the streets - only take Ubers.

I would recommend staying in the V&A Waterfront instead. Or out at Camps Bay if you want a beach.

Staff exceedingly helpful. Was able to secure luggage, until our room was ready for early check in. Minimal cost for early check in. Porters extremely helpful with luggage. Room large, quite and very comfortable. Was able to get late checkout at no additional cost. Staff very helpful with all of our needs. Excellent service at attached restaurant. Breakfast included. Sparkling water and red wine delivered to our room at no charge. Assisted with luggage as well as calling for taxi for departure. Excellent internet.. If ever in Cape Town SA, this will be our first choice for lodging.

I stayed there for 9 nights and held a conference in one of their conference rooms. Everything was very well done. Location is good. Staff is nice and the rooftop is great.

My only complaint being there on business, even holiday for that matter. There is a techno club that plays really loud music 5 of 7 days from open until 6 am or later and it's loud!

I found there are noise complaint options online and several different avenues the hotel can and should continue to follow, even legal action.

The staff said the city won't do anything. Build a better case, the city will and should support the hotel that brings millions of dollars of revenue to the city each year over a noisy techno club driving away business.

I will be traveling back to Cape Town many times, and if it weren't for the noise from that club, it would be my first choice of hotels.

I did get placed in a new room with on my second last night facing the ocean which was much quieter.

The front desk or reception staff were unfriendly and rude.
Our room was flooded at 11 pm and we have to pack and move to the other room.
On the day we check out we ask if we can do late check out 1 pm. They said no
They said 12 pm but I my friend got to check out at 2 pm.
The staff did not want to help us with our luggages.

We stayed at this hotel for 4 extra nights after our 2 week South Africa tour ended. It was a great location to walk to many meeting points for the tours we organized. The room was on the small side but we managed with one queen bed. The full breakfast (included) had plenty to choose from. All staff were attentive & helpful while assisting with our many questions. We highly recommended this hotel!

Hotel nicely located close to local markets, restaurants, bars and supermarket. Area is a bit rough, with homeless people begging and following you for quite a while But not as had as I expected. Police and safety officers were present on most corners. If vigilant and avoiding certain streets. one can have nice walks to explore the city and shop local art, clothes and memorabilia. Rooms not huge but comfortable for family of four. Breakfast was excellent with wide range of option and available until 11 on Sunday. Hotel must have been renovated not long ago and looked modern. Staff nice and very helpful. Dining option in the hotel was nice and decently priced.

We did a same day booking and the staff were very helpful.
The included buffet breakfast was really good.
The rooms were spacious and the king size bed was appreciated. The shower temperature was hard to set and hot water took a while, but the water pressure was good.
The hotel badly needs a refurb and is feeling and looking tired. Carpets have been replaced with hard floors, doors have multiple layers of paint and the fridge is old and the cabinet no longer has a door.

Hotel is located in the center with 6-7 mins drive by taxi to the Waterfront. Quite a concern was a \"camping site\" on the opposite side of the road. Taxi can park on both sides of he entrance corner. Restaurant is ok, not ideal but ok. And actually hotel is quite crowded.

Not suitable for a young family

We arrived on 30 March for a three night stay.

CONS
We’re horrified to see how much poverty and deprivation exists directly outside the hotel. The first two pics is of displaced people right next to the hotel. The roads adjacent and parallel are unsafe with high proportion of people on drugs and/ or displaced. This is not a suitable location for families to go wondering around. It’s okay if you get taxis everywhere.

There is no one available to help with luggage, no concierge and generally there is a shortage of staff at reception.

The breakfast is very average& selection of bread very limited.

We booked a 2 x double bed room which was incredibly small for three people. We found there are two corner rooms on each floor with double beds and they kindly changed our room on the second day.

I tried to take a work conference call and the staff recommended the Mezzanine floor. Which is an open space, with some rooms off them. Despite the fact they were empty and I only required for 1 hour, the staff member Masi, was adamant I could not sit in the corner without paying 1000R!

Every night we were there we could not sleep as there was very loud parties every single night.

The pool is not heated, it never is. It should be described as a cold plunge pool (I am not exaggerating it was freezing and we could not use it).

the hotel as 4star was good as to fittings, room and quality. Service starting with Reception absolutely horrible. Was asked in military ordering tone:
Id number, Id, passport, bankcard - and then hard to believe Bankbalance !!!.Of course I did NOT
no friendliness and a tone that I would not speak to my own employes (1900). I reported this to some Gentleman who said was 'Duty manager' who did little or nothing about it. Although my booking was fully paid 10 days before arrival I was 'ordered' to pay ZAR 250 parking for the 4 days. Have been customer of Sun International since the days of no! Maharani Hotel in Durban yet. Certainly NO 4star hotel Service
This treadment makes visitation in your hotels very questionable, if this is the new tone and service.

Great hotel in a great location. The hotel is quite modern after recently being refurbished. The room was very spacious, the bed comfy and lovely shower. The hotel is a 20-minute walk to the V&A so easy to walk to. I was on the 8th floor which was nice and quiet. All the staff were very polite and helpful.

Some negatives, breakfast can be quite busy and so sometimes you had to wait a while for coffee, which is taken to order. In the rooftop bar, the pool is very small, there are only a couple of sunbeds to use so unfortunately we were not able to use the pool. Service from the bar was very slow when asking for the bill and paying.

I would recommend this hotel and would stay there again

Modern property, convenient location, clean, just biggest let down is the majority of the staff. Shingy and Sophy and one other gentlemen at breakfast were great friendly and helpful. However the rest of the staff were not very pleasant. When we were leaving we asked for help booking a taxi - I gave specific instructions which were disregarded so the wrong taxi was ordered we then had to wait for another one which took longer and cost us more and delayed us getting to the airport. In addition everyone refused to help us with our bags so i held on to my kids while the driver and my husband had to sort the bags. Such a nice hotel but the staff really dampen the experience except for a few.

Nice but some issues

Overall our stay was fine. However given we were staying for one night we were disturbed by staff ringing or knocking on 5 times overall. Worst was at 7.50am stating we would be checking out that day and still needed to pay. Yes, I have stayed in hotels before I don’t really appreciate being woken up because your staff didn’t take payment on arrival.

Then we had a follow up. Then housekeeping knocking on despite a do not disturb sign on and again later.

Felt basically pushed out of the hotel on the day we were due to be travelling home later that evening. Just felt like a bit of a shame that could have been avoided.

This hotel was an absolute surprise! Staff extremely accommodating, amazing roof top bar and great energy and vibes! Hidden gem recently remodeled super clean and chic! Convenient to lots of shopping. And the view of table mountain from roof top bathroom is to die for!!! Spectacular! Wow wish we had more time there! Really is a 5 star hotel now.

A very nice property with a fabulous brunch included! I do think it was ridiculous that they would not deliver laundry to my son'-in-law's room until he came downstairs to pay for it. His luggage didn't make it to Cape Town so he had sent his traveling clothes to be laundereded. So.....having taken a shower, he came down to pay wrapped in a in a towel. Actually I think some of the women probably appreciated that! Re-think that policy please.

Perfect hotel in VF&A area centrally located in between the wharf and other areas. Nearby to loads of restaurants, bars, shops and markets.

The hotel is very nice and includes breakfast (eggs cooked to order, meats, cheeses, yogurt, breads, coffee, etc).

Also dined at the restaurant for dinner and enjoyed our meal.

Internet is good and includes unlimited use. FNB ATM is 1 min away that has 24 hr security.

Suggest using Uber for transportation to/from the airport. The transportation areanged by the hotel is cash only and 2x Uber rates.

The staff are attentive and nice. We will stay here again on our next visit to Cape Town.

It’s what you’d expect from a 3-star hotel.

I stayed at the hotel with my husband and booked a standard room with a queen bed. The bed was too small to sleep comfortably, and also they only gave us amenities (towels, water) for 1 person only. We had to switch to a twin bed room to have a little more space and enough amenities for two people.

The service was mostly bad. You call room service and asked if they have something, they said they’ll call you back but never did. The staff didn’t seem to know the area well either, there was a big city-wide parade near the hotel (Cape town’s traditional of “second new year”) and we had some questions about the parade times, the staff member did not even know it was happening.

The gym was good and breakfast was good as well.

Overall, it’s a 3 star hotel with below average service.

Excellent business option in Cape Town!

Great business hotel that is centrally located with lots of great restaurants and bars nearby. Comfortable rooms at a reasonable price. The limited complimentary internet is a bit frustrating for business travel but apart from them the service was good, breakfast was good and the rooftop bar has an incredible view!

Nice place with lots of problems, sketchy location

Well-designed, relatively new hotel needs to implement a major employee training program. Obvious maintenance issues (sliding bathroom door off its tracks, inoperable room safe with deadbolt extended) should have been reported to Maintenance staff by Housekeeping, who instead left it for the next guest to deal with. Definite \"not my job\" attitudes abound. Had to request washcloths three times over a two-day period before they finally materialized. Restaurant staff decided (after we'd already signed the check to our room #), that we needed to pay by credit card, immediately. They actually got me out of bed to give them a credit card and sign a charge slip, while standing in the doorway of my room, in my underwear. Management is nowhere to be found and clearly is not paying attention to service failures. I cannot recommend this hotel until they get their staff training and service issues under control. This was a comedy of errors … only without the laughs.
CAUTION: Not hotel's fault, but be aware: neighborhood is sketchy, even in the daytime. Aggressive (!) panhandler grabbed item from my grocery bag, then threw it on the sidewalk because it apparently wasn't what she wanted. This happened within 1/2 block of the hotel, in broad daylight.

Decent stay

Well located hotel close to the centre of the city. Nice, clean room. Unsurprisingly, extremely busy as it was around New Years Eve to the point where there were queues for breakfast. Decent breakfast and the onsite restaurant was reasonable and well-priced.
