This apart-hotel is very nice. Good location if your business is in the city. The rooms are very spacious and clean. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Every request was met efficiently and with a smile, which goes a long way into making a hotel a good one.
There was construction right next door so it was noisy very early in the morning. I don’t think I can fault the hotel for this though since it doesn’t have control over it and it will hopefully be for limited time. Just a heads up for anyone traveling around this time, request a room away from the noise. Other than that it’s a good hotel. I’ve stayed before, years ago, and will stay again.

This is more suited for business not for a romantic stay. The room we were first shown was next to a very loud active construction site. The rooms are dated and need redecorating even though specious. Breakfast was slow and very basic. Some staff were helpful others did not.

If you want to experience how a hotel from a large chain should be run properly this is the place to go. Not 5 star but much better than many 4 & 5 star hotels we have stayed at. Rooms (apartments) are fully equipped, clean and comfortable. Breakfast is a great standard. Location is excellent – easy walk or Uber to Waterfront and other areas. The staff were helpful and friendly to the last man/woman. The couple of times we needed to call someone (e.g. trying to figure out how to operate a very complex Bosch washing machine) we got immediate and effective attention.

The property does not have an airport shuttle and should not advertise as having one, it is a 3rd party company. I reserved an airport pick up, it did not show up and i had to find my own way to the hotel.

When checking out i reserved an airport drop off and the front desk was not able to secure a ride for me to the airport. The 3rd party shuttle asked what race i was and declined to take me to the airport. I had to find my own transportation

I don't know where to start-this place was amazing. The rooms were unreal. Very clean, very big. Great view. Good location. The staff treated myself and my family like each one of us were long-time friends. Every time you walk through the lobby or in the restaurant you are greeted warmly. Between the ample choices in 4 star hotels that caters for a family of 4 in 1 room (consisting of 2 rooms), I carefully chose Protea Hotel due to the brand name as I've travelled a lot and Protea Hotels has never disappointed me in their portfolio.. This time, I'm afraid, I was left with a harsh disappointment. There were good points like - the amazingly friendly staff from security at the gate to Precious at Reservations, the waiters and the people at Reception. All amazing! The breakfast buffet - it works. Not blown away, but it works. The beds are comfy, the living space (living room and kitchen) in the 2 bedroom apartment are comfy, but the bathrooms and bedrooms are not well designed. The on-suite bathroom in the main bedroom definitely leaves much to be desired and this is where things start to turn bad...You get the idea that this hotel is about 20 years out of date regarding maintenance and is very run down in certain areas. The floors - run down. Most appliances run down. The extractor of the oven - horrifically creasy. After confirming my booking twice, and staying for 4 nights... You got the idea that there was no care on your arrival from housekeeping's side or PR's side. Much like 4 star hotels in Israel or a bought-over hotel in the country side that once carried a big Hotel Group Name. Then, you have to take the price into consideration - and for what you get.. It is a no-no for me for a second time. There are better options in Cape Town - with a view.

The Wi Fi connections were horrible unless you were standing in the lobby. That was a major concern since there were 13 of us on this trip. It was really frustrating. They really need to upgrade this for the future. Other than that, we had a great time and would stay there again.

We made arrangements to collect us from the airport. The driver was there on time with a sign. The customer service from the doorman, the lounge, front desk and security were all helpful and attentive. The rooms are just as described on the site. Close location and quick 10 minutes walk to the V & A waterfront. Quick walk to the city sight seeing office, Long street and Bo-Kaap area. Great for 1st timers to Cape Town visit.

Lovely stay in the beautiful City of Cape Town. Hotel staff very helpful and room was a very good size and very clean. Breakfast was a good selection and service very friendly and efficient. Only slight down side is that there is quite some traffic and pedestrian noise at night and in the early morning. I think there is perhaps only single glass in the windows rather than double or triple glazing. Having said this, I would gladly stay here again as the overall experience was overwhelmingly positive.

Beautiful Large rooms, but not the best area

The rooms were just fantastic! Gorgeous, clean, huge and a big cozy bed and couch. We had everything we needed and more. One of the nicest places we've stayed. We were there for the water shortage so did our best to limit our water usage and there was no pool which was a minor inconvenience considering what Cape Town is experiencing. Our safe didn't work and when we called they sent someone up within minutes to address it, but didn't have the batteries to fix it until the am and offered up a safe downstairs with our own private key.

The one issue we had was safety, which is not neccessarilly the hotel's fault, but we were told not to leave the hotel after dark as we were targets for muggings as a tourist. A driver warned us as soon as we got to the area and advised us not to even cross the street to go to the pizza place after dark. So we felt trapped in the hotel each night. We mistakenly thought this hotel was at the Waterfront because of the name \"North Wharf\" but it was in fact, downtown and a 20 min walk to the Waterfront. We extended our stay in Cape Town by a night and this hotel was not available so we booked at the hotel next door instead and they had 4 security guards and a constant shuttle to the waterfront which made us much more comfortable about being out at night.

All in all, it was a fantastic hotel and the service was lovely. For safety reasons though, it was not the best hotel for us to stay for our needs for this trip.

The room is big with a separate living room and bedroom, kitchen and bathroom. The water shortage meant no pool and no bath but it made no difference to the trip, really. It’s walking distance to the V&A waterfront. Highly recommend getting Uber everywhere else as it’s super cheap. Great breakfast. Loved Vanessa, Sandy and the rest of the team x

Conveniently located next to the waterfront - a central transit area to Robben island, shopping food and activities- this hotel is perfect for those who would like to be in the heart of the city. Despite its location it is not too busy. There is a wonderful food market (food shop) that is also a grocery/coffee/buffet food shop. You can take a 10 minute walk to a local crafts market where you can barter for a good price! If you are wanting to purchase garments head to king street. There is the tourist location of Bo kapp with colourful houses - be sure to stop off in the museum (one of the houses) to get an idea of the history of the town and its people. If we ou fancy a bite check out Chiranga - you may want to consider paying exact bill and then leaving a gratuity on the table as they will assume the difference over the bill is your tip! There is also the Africa cafe or busy the another food lovers market on the waterfront for one of the some traditional pap/samp/ rice and a choice of stewed beef /chicken...you are also walking distance from the hotel to museums such as the salve lodge and district six. Amazing place!

Love the size of the room. Only limited choice ot TV channels. Only one TV remote was working, the other one was dead. Also, no daily water complimentary provided, only on arrival day. We stayed for 5 nights, so we ended up having to buy water from restaurant every night. But the rest was memorable, love the room size and the cleanliness. The utilites including forks, spoons,knifes, and plates were good for long stay. All in all, love this hotel.

We had a very pleasant stay at the Protea. We stayed in a one bedroom sweet, which was very large. The bed was excellent, and also had a large balcony. The hotel is centrally located so you can walk most places or take a short cab ride. The only negative was we were on the second floor and you could hear most of what was going on at street level.
Very clean and staff was excellent.

This was our first stay at PH North Wharf, we usually stay in Pepper Club if in Cape Town but I must say we were impressed with the service! it was very good. From the moment we entered the parking area, Trudy welcomed us with a smile and kindness. Lorenzo at reception was just as kind. Sivuyile at breakfast was very helpful. Thanks to the chef for the scrumptious omlettes and everything inbetween.

The is a room for improvement though in housekeeping. Our room 101 the shower (main bedroom) was not in a good condition a lot. The was mould on the ceiling and mould evidence on the wall tiles as well. The seems to be a few corner cutting as well when it comes to cleaning the rooms. Other than that we were really happy with our stay!

Thanks a lot to the PH North Wharf team, we MIGHT just return, mainly because of the service from the staff that makes all the difference!

We had quick access to V &W Waterfront, Table top mountain.

Good rooms, nice facilities and decent breakfast

Courteous staff.

We stayed there while visiting out of cape town and on return back to cape town we stayed there again as kids also loved the place

Amazing apartment for a great price.

Super King deep mattress bed. Luxurious bathroom, kitchenette with all facilities including dishwasher and washing machine. Breakfast was fantastic with a very large variety of hot and cold items. Cannot fault the service and the expected SA hospitality.

Almost fantastic!

Everything was great, including the breakfast! Friendly staff. BUT whatever you do don't eat at the restaurant for dinner - the pasta dishes were a really disgusting flavour - and we tried 4 different dishes! Great food options over the road.

Great Hotel

The hotel staff was friendly, prompt, and very helpful. The food was great with a large array to choose from. This hotel would be my choice for return visits. The only downside was the wi-fi signal was weak in areas of the hotel.

Nice Hotel with Great Apartments and Close to the

Beautiful 5 night stay in the hotel. I appreciated the hotel's efforts to accommodate my needs. In particular, the found me a room so that I could stay 1 extra night to celebrate New Years Eve in Cape Town. The staff were very gracious in assisting me to organize a small 8 person dinner in the apartment. They brought tables, chairs, dishes, cutlery etc. -- absolutely the best effort one could have expected. They made my New Year's Celebration an amazingly happy one.

No communication

The stay at the hotel was excellent although I can not say the same about my booking through \"Hotels.com.\" Although my booking was done six months in advance on the day of my arrival nobody at the hotel had any knowledge of my booking. We had to wait in the lobby while the booking was confirmed with \"Hotels.com\". It seems to me that there was no communication prior between hotel and \"Hotel.com\".Two single rooms were allocated to us for the first night and the next day we had to move to a Double room as booked.That was very frustrating although the hotel went out of its way to assist us.In future I think it will be better to do the booking through the hotel itself.
