Shopped all over the train station area, and I can easily recommend Campanile Metz as very good, inexpensive and literally next door to the train station. Our room faced the train station and we NEVER heard a train. You have to walk thru the train station to get to the restaurants, but Metz is a small town and this is not a big deal.

Stayed here en route to Austria. Clean, plenty of paying parking around either on the street or in an underground car park and an easy 15 min walk into the centre of town. Good value and we would definitely stay here again as it is the new Campanile hotel format which is a huge improvement on the older style of hotel.

There is no functional air-conditioning, room temperature was very hot making sleeping very difficult. It is noisy both inside the hotel from other rooms as from outside. Hard to unload luggage no access by car
Room was great, access to Hotel with a car was terrible , nowhere to stop to unload luggage had to stop in the bus area out front and run inside and move the car quickly as buses coming and going all the time

OK if you need a place cloafter a long train ride
The construction immediately outside the hotel (and I realize it isn't their fault) does detract from the immediate impression of the hotel Check in and check out was fine. Staff is pleasant. Ate at the attached restaurant and would not recommend it to anyone.The meats were poorly prepared, and the food was overpriced and bland. Breakfast is good.

We spent 2 nights at this hotel. There was no way to drive up to the entrance of the hotel as there is a major bus transfer station right in front of the hotel. There was also no direct parking, it was across the road and $28 CDN per night. It felt like a dormitory. Carpets were dirty and stained. AC did not work. Would pass on this one. We were right over the front entrance, people gathering and smoking, talking all hours of night.

New hotel right next to Metz railway station. Bed was quite comfortable. Buffet breakfast was unlimited and well stocked. Parking is available on top of the railway station (access is on the other side of the train tracks from the hotel). My intent of the stay was to visit Verdun World War I sites which was quite informative.

Chose this hotel as it was right next to train station and I wanted a rental car to drive to verdun. Hotel is more than walking distance to center city. Hotel is new.beds were quite comfortable and breakfast buffet quite good.no limit on amount of food you can eat.

The air-conditioning did not work, which made our stay extremely uncomfortable. We asked the reception to switch it on. Despite she promised to switch it on, there was no cool air coming out. We complained when we checked out but the receptionist did not acknowledge our complaint and did not even care to apologise for the discomfort.

The hotel is within a mile from a shopping mall and their are several restaurants to choose from. If you don’t want to go far, there is even a restaurant connected to the hotel. You can have your food billed to your room. I was very impressed with our stay.

Need better directions for 'check in 'parking
It was difficult to find somewhere to park while we 'found out where we could park'. As it is set back behind a bus interchange, the building didn't stand out. In situations like this, it would be helpful if some guidance could be given in the booking instructions.
About a 15 min walk from the middle of town, it is right on the railway line but well insulated.. Once the windows were closed we couldn't hear the trains.

Malheureusement le petit déjeuner, bien qu'offert n'est pas non plus à la hauteur, entre produit non disponible, on parle d'un thé earl grey....lait déjà sucré et peu de choix, j'aurai préféré payer et avoir un choix complet comme on l'attend dans un hôtel de ce standing. Aucun geste commercial pour le déclassement de chambre et aucune gestion des employés sur place. Quel dommage. Il aurait peut etre fallu reporter l'ouverture.

Avevo ricevuto un'email prima del mio arrivo in cui mi informavano che avrebbero chiesto una cauzione di 100 euro al check-in e che avrei dovuto segnalare \"a monte\" eventuali problemi della stanza, devo dire che invece al mio arrivo non mi è stata chiesta alcuna cauzione e la camera mi è stata assegnata ben prima dell'orario previsto per il check-in. Personale molto gentile durante tutto il soggiorno. Colazione basica, ma accettabile (affettati, formaggi, qualche piatto caldo, qualche croissant, macchinetta per caffè/latte/cappuccino, un paio di succhi industriali). Stanza discreta con bollitore, ma letto piuttosto scomodo. Lenzuola e asciugamani molto lisi. Difficile fare la doccia senza allagare il bagno. Lavandino non ingorgato, ma occorreva aprire poco il rubinetto perché l'acqua scendeva molto lentamente nello scarico (magari basterebbe versare un liquido apposito per pulire le tubature). Stanza ben insonorizzata al sesto piano, ma aria condizionata rumorosa. Posizione molto comoda per la stazione ferroviaria, ma lontana dal centro città. C'è tuttavia una navetta gratuita messa a disposizione dal Comune di Metz che parte dal vicino Centre Pompidou e ferma anche davanti alla stazione.
