Room small but clean. Needs better placed hooks for wet towels - directly outside bath door would be best.
Room was too warm, northern Norway in April, yes, too warm! Fortunately we could open the window.

Room design is nice in some parts, but does feel clustered. Some room slippers would have been nice. Bathroom design is questionable with a no door/cover shower making splashes out of the shower area (cant imagine if a plus size person would make due with it).
Whilst I was able to check in early, the room was already made but the card left behind with someone else's name felt like the item was overlooked or the room was intended for someone else.
Breakfast options were fantastic, good way to start the day, large selection from cold cuts to hot food.

A really pleasant stay. Pick a room with harbour view - it’s well worth the extra. Fabulous central location - easy walking access to everywhere in town. Staff were excellent, food was great and reasonably priced (for Norway!) - breakfast was buffet style, huge choice of excellent food and a lovely environment. All in all, a brilliant stay. Thank you.

Lovely hotel , perfect location in the harbour area for all the trips available . We had a great room with fantastic views of the fjord and surrounding mountains. The highlight was definitely the breakfasts , with so much choice , my recommendation is definitely go earlier , as the later you are the busier it is , especially with only one cappuccino machine . The staff were also a credit , being very welcoming and friendly . Would highly recommend staying here if you visit Tromso .

Check in was easy, quick and friendly. Breakfast was fantastic, a huge selection on offer. Room was spacious and clean. The provided Rituals hand wash / shampoo etc smelt devine. My 2 issues were- there was no price list for the mini bar and check out took ages. I went down 40 minutes before check out time. The queue grew to about 10 people long. It was 1 member of staff. I'm unsure if his computer system wasn't working properly or if there was some other hold up but he made no attempt to get any help or back up or look up to apologise. Another member of staff did come to serve after 15 minutes, and then when it was eventually my turn (another 10minutes) and he asked how my stay was I said great apart from this part, he could not have cared less.

The hotel was ideally located on the harbour and near to food, shops and tour guides. The additional cost paid for a harbour view was worth the extra. Stunning outlook on to the mountains over the water.
The breakfast was plentiful amd varied. Extending breakfast to a 10 am finishing time would be a useful change for Clarion to make given the numbers of people queuing for food each day.
The room was spacious and comfortable. Daily room clean was minimal in standard but adequate. However, on leaving the property I checked under the bed for left items and discovered incredobly thick dust all across the top of the floor. It would be useful if cleaners occasionally moved the beds and gave the floor a thorough clean.
Bar area pleasant but prices were very steep. Reception staff were pleasant and accommodating.

Amazing stay! The view was GORGEOUS from our Junior Suite. Wow! It comfortable fit the three of us (2 adults + 1 teenager) ... The breakfast was fantastic and a delicious spread. Walkable location -- we were able to maximize our two days in Tromso, the most beautiful city. Our hearts are with Norway. Thanks for a fantastic stay! We hope to visit again in the future.

One of the best hotels I've ever stayed. Customer service was beyond excellent. From the moment Jayla helped with the storage of our luggage to the minute we left, the sincerity and friendliness of the staff was simply amazing. Room had a beautiful sea view and of a comfortable size. The only faults I noticed were the shower area without a glass door (which meant leaking water in the whole bathroom during shower), and the knobs of the cabinet that made my fingers get caught in. Otherwise, it was a perfect stay. And oooh, the breakfast spread was huge! Even had vegan and gluten-free options. And not to mention the free coffee & tea at the lobby. It was certainly an enjoyable stay and I highly recommend Clarion Hotel to all coming to Tromso!

The view was of the harbor and nice. Laundry was a company who took your laundry somewhere else. No laundry facilities at the hotel.
Check in was 2 hours later than advertised. Air did not work in the room so it was warm and stuffy. TV had no service. Beds were too soft for us, not very comfortable. Staff were nice though.

Booked the room for 3 pax. Only issue was that it was challenging to open 3 luggages. Have to shift around the room. Other than that, all great. Breakfast was good but pretty much the same throughout the stay.
Love that there is a water dispenser and tea for customer at the lobby.

We had a brilliant stay at the Clarion. Location was fantastic, so near everything. We had a twin room and felt like we had plenty of space. Breakfast was fantastic! So much choice. Good tip is to get down for 8ish to avoid the crowds. We loved the sky bar, great drinks and fantastic view. Loved you could get teas and coffees and fresh water from the lobby. Lovely rituals toiletries in the bathroom too.

I booked a superior room and boy was I glad I did. We were on the top floor, level 12 and the views over the water towards the mountains, Arctic cathedral, cable car were superb. The room was spacious, but I’d say the bed was a double not a queen. Breakfast was excellent and we had no trouble getting a table. There’s a coffee/tea station by reception which is available 24/7 for free use. Also some cakes/chocs in the afternoon. Location is excellent, literally opposite the bus station if using the airport bus and only a few minutes walk into town. Staff all friendly. Overall a great place to stay!

1) Great location, next to Tromso Prostneset and Tromso harbour where Brim Explorer meeting point is located, so very convenient for travelling around by public transport and going on whale watching tour. Also very close to shopping areas.

2) Breakfast was delish, with a very large spread, including a live cooking station for omelette, which was great!

3) Just one problem with breakfast timing - would be good if breakfast hours on weekdays (not only on weekends) could be extended to past 9:30 am. Many people go to Tromso for northern lights tours, which typically end past midnight. So, breakfast hours which end later in the morning will allow people to have more sleep and still have breakfast.

4) We booked a standard room which was clean and spacious enough for 2 large luggages. Toilet shower area had a small stand to place guests' personal toiletries, which was very much appreciated.

5) Just one problem - on the 1st day, we found that the water flow in the bathroom sink was slow and the next morning, we informed reception, who promised to look into it. However, when we returned the same day, there was no improvement to the water flow, which continued to be slow for the rest of our stay - we stayed 4 nights. We did not bother to inform reception again since nothing seemed to have been done. Would have been good for hotel to have fixed it.

The breakfast was excelent with more choise than I have ever seen, freom fresh sliced. Melon to fully cooked via bread and jams and cereal. The reception was always manned and the staff were always had a smile and were very helpful. Position was central and a short walk to the centre.

Lovely staff. Young lady who checked us in mentioned she was new, particularly friendly.

Door lock wasn’t amazing, could be opened from the outside and within the room despite being locked. We didn’t contact the front desk since we noticed on the final night. I think the doors should be tested regularly after a room clean or some other basis. Also expected a safe in the room due to hotel description (safe in reception) but there wasn’t one. Would benefit guests if this was included.

Amazing stay at the edge though. Lovely breakfast, rooms were nice as was the convenience of the hotel.

Excellent location for Tromso, right on the harbour. Good 4 star hotel. Free tea and coffee in lobby. Good breakfast. Staff excellent. Restaurant exceptional. Views stunning, rooms basic but fine, standard 4*. Rituals toiletries in the bathroom. Note the gym is not on site and is a 5 min walk away at a 24 hour, very well equipped local gym. The walk is extremely icy on unheated pavements just to beware.
Easy to get round Tromso from here and is right by a shopping mall. If I stayed in Tromso again I would stay here.

Room was like a cupboard. Drafty windows with the bed positioned right by the window (tried 2 rooms- the same experience); room thermostat did not respond and kept the room at 18C. They did provide a heater at request. No food provided in the evening; Christmas buffet was booked up so tough, they said go out to find something. No compensation of any kind offered at checkout. Also incredibly expensive.

Upgraded room for sea view which only cost £14. Staff were very friendly and the room was very clean. Comfy bed. Breakfast was the star of the show - with food being so expensive in Tromso it was great to have such a big breakfast buffet to fill up on in the morning. Great location too.

Extremely Disappointed — Would Not Recommend

We stayed at Clarion Hotel The Edge and were extremely disappointed. For the price charged — the same as the Radisson, where we stayed the previous week and which was exceptional — this hotel simply does not deliver.

The beds were awful. So soft they felt like trampolines, offering no support at all. We’ve stayed in many Nordic hotels and the beds are usually fantastic — these were not. We asked if there were rooms with better beds and were shown another room with exactly the same problem. When we raised this and asked if we could cancel and rebook the Radisson, we were told nothing could be done until the manager returned in the morning. We had an early excursion, so that wasn’t possible. No apology, no solution, no follow-up.

The interior of the hotel is tired and shabby, despite the marketing. Once you get past the lobby, it feels dated and worn — like the back of a theatre rather than a modern, premium hotel.

To be fair, the breakfast was lovely, and the lobby looks good. But a decent breakfast does not make up for poor beds and indifferent service, especially at this price point.

Being told “these are Norwegian beds” when they clearly aren’t up to standard was dismissive and frustrating. Overall, this hotel trades on location and branding, not quality.

We would not stay here again and would not recommend it when far better options are available for the same money.

We had booked 2xtwin rooms, but I think they were full so we were moved into compact singles, with sea view. They were ok, quiet and comfortable for one person.

Best breakfast we’ve had in a long time and we travel quite a bit. Tons of fresh fruit options, tons of hot options, including omelettes, come early to avoid huge crowds. The rest of the day was just average, rooms could use some updating, there are no USB outlets, just old-school plugs. The bathroom shower is open and sprays water everywhere when you shower.

Too big to care. Let us down at Christmas.

Dinner was fully booked for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, and no other food options available. So, they provided us a bed and breakfast service, but at luxury hotel price. We ended up eating bread and cheese in our room on Christmas day.

Worse still, I'd anticipated the problem of food over Christmas and messaged the hotel 2 weeks earlier. They replied \"Our restaurant will be open during Christmas. It's open 17-22 everyday with a traditional Norwegian Christmas buffet. We look forward to welcoming you later in December.\" In other words, \"don't worry, it's fine, see you soon\". No mention of needing to book, or any concerns it might not be available.

When I complained to the management they just hid behind the fact that their answer was _factually_ correct, while being entirely unhelpful and misleading. They were happy to take my money for the room, but leave us hungry at Christmas.

Shame on you, Strawberry Hotels.
