I want to start by saying that the staff at this hotel are lovely and the hotel is situated in a very good location. However, our TV stopped working on the third night of our stay and some of the power sockets in the room also stopped working. We immediately reported this to the front desk, where we were told that it was likely due to the snow and it would be okay in the morning. The next day the tv and power sockets were still not working, we reported this in the morning and were told it would be looked at. When we returned that afternoon, they were still broken. We reported this again and were told that there were no staff in the hotel who would be able to fix this issue. For the amount of money we paid to stay at this hotel, I am very disappointed that we were not offered an alternative room or any compensation to amend this issue. Until the staff are trained on how to resolve these issues or better solutions can be provided, I would not recommend staying here and will be looking for a partial refund.

The only thing that is going for this hotel! Location!!! Everything else is bad the size of room the lack of cleanliness. The staff not so great l, just one girl on my first day checking was wonderful. Since I saw the size of the room with 2 suite cases and 2 carry one plus 2 bag packs. It was impossible to handle it in one room. I ended up getting another single room. Mind you not much of a difference between both rooms. If you are on the heavy side there is no way 2 people can fit their double bed. I try to get my money back after checking in when I saw the room but no luck getting my money back at that point.

Very compact, minimalist room. Clean and comfy. As we have 3 luggage’s between us, it was a little tight to move around the room. But love location and the reception lounge, so cosy with board games to keep ourselves entertained. Enjoyed my stay.

The bathroom had strong water pressure and a stable water temperature, and the front desk staff were very kind. However, there were several stains on the bed sheets. Also, although the “Do Not Disturb” sign was displayed, the door was still opened, which was a bit surprising

Checked in and we went up to our room and immediately turned around to head back to the service desk. A coffin would have more space for two people than our room. Our 2 suitcases would not even be able to be owned in our room. Didn’t even have a chance to see the bathroom as we immediately turned around to go back to the desk to cancel our stay. The front desk was helpful.

We stayed here for 2 nights,just needing a place to sleep and this was ideal. We had a small double room,which was really just ok for sleeping in,but the bar downstairs was nice,plenty of room there.

The breakfast buffet served anything you could ever want for breakfast,fruit,cold meats,cooked breakfast,bread etc, and a nice variety of drinks.

If you need a reasonably priced place to stay in Tromso for a few days,I would recommend this place.

Ask for soap bc ours wasnt filled they never stopped by. Room had 2 dirty tissues.tuckerd by the window along the bed. The staff wasn't helpful or engaged and the room wasn't comfortable (in addition to dirty) only good for a cheap stay. Location was the best perk for walking convenience

Central, clean and comfortable

The room was comfortable and clean - very warm and cosy. The bed is quite soft and they gave me two pillows - one normal and one massive - which actually made sitting up and reading in bed very comfy. The duvet was quite thick for the summer, but that might just be me.The windows do a really good job of blocking out noise from the outside.
I had a single room with its own bathroom - there was ample space for me. Yes, the towel rail is over the loo, but the rooms are compact so I am not really sure where else they would put them.
My only complaint about the room is the lack of space for me to put my clothes. As I was staying for a week, I wanted to unpack and had to just stack all my stuff on the desk in the room provided. Not a huge hassle, just a thing. Certainly not severe enough to reduce the stars.
Breakfast was good. Lots of variety, really nice fresh bread, and the staff were good at keeping everything topped up.
For me though, the best thing was the location. It's really central with everything you need within a five/ten minute walk.
I have read some of the comments about the lack of tea/coffee facilities etc. but that is clear in the room description so I don't know what people were expecting.
Overall, I was really happy with my stay and would definitely use them again.

They somehow only managed to book me in for 1 night even though my reservation was for 4, a fact I only discovered when the cleaning staff came to change the room and were surprised that I was still there! Didn't have the breakfast, but the free coffee in the lobby was a plus.

The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. The buffet breakfast was excellent with a great range of choices of breakfast food. The freely available water, tea and coffee was great.

Unfortunately, myself and several of my travelling companions experience problems with plug sockets that did not work and sometimes no WiFi was available.

Would be OK if the priced matched the room but it didn't, was expensive for what it was.
No remote for TV, got remote but tv still didn't work. Bedside light didn't work and cleanliness issues.
Room smaller than a standard uk prisoner cell. Can't begin to describe how small. Again if priced matched that would be OK but it didn't l luckily I was only on a short layover.

This hotel is great for a cheaper hotel option. Rooms are on the smaller side but the room was clean and the bathroom modern and tidy. Great location. Close to all the tour pick up/drop off locations. Overall a great stay for the price.

Pros: Location was 1 street behind main shopping street and around 5mins walk to nearest bus stops. Room was clean with heating, although windows allowed cold air to pass through. My friend found it cold but I thought it was ok under the duvet. Basic amenities included (towels, hair dryer, shampoo body wash). Staff was friendly and accommodating (we had to ask for new hair dryer and top-up of shampoo). Cons: room would be small for extended stay, but was ok for 3 days. If you visit in winter, please get shoes with ice grip! Many people were slipping everywhere. I had to take long detours just to avoid icy sidewalks.

First of all the hotel staff location etc are absolutely fine however you can’t get over the elephant in the room or more to the point the size of the rooms. The phrase you couldn’t swing a cat in here was made for this hotel the rooms are tiny. There’s no where to put your clothes to we ended up living out of the suitcase and using a floordrobe. You have climb over your partner to get out of bed and there are literally no facilities in the room at all. As I said the hotels fine but be prepared to spend your trip in what seems like a prison cell.

Travelocity photos do not adequately demonstrate what a terribly small room the \"double room\" actually is. It was VERY small and tight. Access to the bed from one side. Very hard to get in and out of the bed on the inside spot.

Good hotel but budget sized rooms.

This was a one night stay until our other hotel, on the docks, was available the next day. It's a great little hotel for all the basics - the beds were comfortable, breakfast was good, water was hot and everything was clean. The location is really good and just a few minutes walk to the docks (but not the water and mountain view I was looking for). The room is small and for a couple you wouldn't really spend time in it rather than sleeping, because of its size, but there is a communal room downstairs with large TV and tea/coffee is always available there as well.

It was fine, the bed was comfortable. The room was tiny and had no circulation however so we had to have the window open to get some sleep which of course then would make the room very cold after a while lol. The staff I'm a bit mixed on. Some of the staff were very friendly, but some of the younger staff were incredibly unprofessional. A couple of the younger ones were loudly on phone calls having inappropriate conversations, again, very loudly lol.

The room is smaller than one could imagine until you're in it.

Breakfast was pretty good.

Overall it was an okay stay, but I would not stay here again if there were other options available.

On arrival at th smarthotel it was easy to check-in and find our room, room was very small, bed right up to the wall at side and end but was comfortable only one pillow each and quilt didn't cover the bed so luckily there was two. Bathroom was adequate
Breakfast had a good selection of cooked and cold foods but if you've not booked through hotels own website its not included and costs around £14 per head, on our visit we were on the fourth floor and unfortunately the second day we were there the lift broke and was not fixed two days later when we left which ment we had to drag our bags down 4 flights of stairs
Overall though its a nice hotel in a good location a short walk to shops and harbour.

Its a cheap and cheerful hotel which is close to the main attraction/tour pickups in Tromsø. The room was very basic and by no way, a luxury hotel (hotel is not claiming this). You get a bed, small desk and a bathroom. Would reccomend if you are visting for a couple of days and happy to accept a small basic room. Money saved can be spent on the expensive tours! Overall, would stay again!

Great location for a few days in Tromso. Walking distance to the main shopping street (just a couple of mins) and the harbour and bridge are close by. This was the main plus for us.
Rooms are clean and modern and the hotel feels safe.
Airport shuttle bus just a few minute walk so access was easy.
Reception staff helpful and you can get food on site if you want it.
Overall, very happy with our stay and would recommend

Basic, warm, functional.

This is the basic Smart Hotel style. No frills, quite a lot of concrete, but clean, warm, good shower etc. The rooms are small and quite tight, but the bed is good. The breakfast was excellent, and I like that there were notices trying to get people not to waste food. The service was ok, I found the reception staff slightly reluctant to help and not very forthcoming which was a shame. No parking - you have to find the big underground car park. I didn't find it at first - the directions from the receptionist were not clear and ended up in a tiny, tight carpark where I scraped my car. Not the receptionist's fault, but better more helpful directions would have put me in a better place. Find the big one and stay safe!

The rooms are too small and they only have double beds so two individuals cannot sleep on the same bed. I slept on the floor. Not very comfortable. The door handle was broken and we couldn’t get in so they gave us another room and we had to move all of our items. Parking is sparse and very expensive.

I think it's better to list the things:
1. Good breakfast
2. The \"tourist expert\" had a horrible attitude and after not helping me, cut into the conversation I was having with the nice receptionist and told me not to be picky and I can sleep on my suitcase
3. When we walked into the room, we could barely take our shoes off because it was SUPER TINY!
4. The shower doesn't drain the water and floods the bathroom
5. There was a bad mildew smell in the bathroom
6. Luggage storage is always a plus
7. Most of the staff was friendly

Overall, this is exactly what they are going for. It's a bit Spartan. They want to appeal to those who will be out doing things rather than hanging out in the room, which I love. It is a fine value, in a super-interesting city!
That said, if you are at all sensitive to street sounds, everyday noises (footsteps/ doors opening and closing, etc), consider other options.
