Staff fantastic. Spacious room, basic clothing storage, heated bathroom floor. Bed very comfortable. Good breakfast buffet, dinner good nit lots if choice but appreciated not having to eat out as Norway expensive. Hotel is spotless. Comfortable friensly lounge area.

food was excellent, we really enjoyed the whole experience it was clean, kind and helpful staff . a little be disappointed that the promised hot tub was closed and not in use - especially when that was one of the reasons for booking this hotel. location was brilliant the views lovely all in all an excellent choice to stay. I think that some of it was looking a bit tired but I'm guessing that it is being worked on.

Very disappointing that the hot tub was broken and had not been used for weeks. There was no attempt to fix it.
When we arrived the main light in our room didn’t work and the kettle was also broken.
However the location of the Hotel was perfect. Very central, with lovely views of the harbour. The breakfast, afternoon tea and evening meals were great and included in the price.

I stayed at Home Hotel Aurora - a waterfront hotel - for my first solo travel last March 6-9. I chose this hotel for the following reasons:

Complimentary buffet: breakfast, fika (afternoon sweet snacks), and dinner. The food choices were enough to satisfy your palate.

Facilities include a sauna and gym. For an additional 600 NOK, you can enjoy a 30-minute usage of the rooftop jacuzzi.

Location - it's in the middle of Tromsø Havn and it's walking distance to Størgata. The airport bus drop-off/pick-up is a 7-minute walk. Bus stops are 2 minutes away.

Staff - the front desk, especially Analu, is very helpful and friendly.

If you haven't booked your Northern Lights tour, a tour company - Chasing Lights - has a booth in the lobby that can help you.

Rooms - are cozy and I love the layout. I also like how big the bathroom is, especially the sink area where you can lay out all your stuff. If possible ask for any 5th floor room so you will be near the rooftop jacuzzi and sauna.

24/7 coffee/tea bar in the lobby and a choice of still or sparkling water.

Since it's normally a cold-weather country, there's no AC - don't be surprised since you won't need it. The heater is stable and I love that you can control the heater in your room and bathroom separately.

I'm already planning my next vacation in Tromsø and I'm staying here again.

From the moment we arrived we were a bit thrown off. The lobby was full of guests waiting to check in but the desk clerk would not process anyone before 3pm, even though rooms were obviously ready. So we waited in a long queue, with only one person working, to finally get checked in. This is not how you want to start your stay, especially after a long day of travel.
We were in Tromso celebrating my husband's birthday so I opted for a room upgrade at a cost of an extra $220 for 3 nights, bringing our grand total to $1320. To say the room was not worth that price is an understatement. Small, dingy, ourdated and unclean. We had a small balcony, but it was covered in snow, so were tracking snow in and out of the room. Also, I had advised we were coming for a special occasion and the hotel offered no gesture, which is surprising and disappointing.
The hotel offered meals which is convenient for some guests. The breakfast seemed reasonable but the dinner was a sad affair. On our last night, they served chicken egg rolls as a main course.
There was a roof top jacuzzi but, not only did you have to reserve time in 30 minute blocks, you had to pay for it!
When we checked out, I expressed my disappointment and also showed photos of the room's poor condition. The staff person refunded me $60. What an insult!
If you can find alternate accommodations in Tromso, take it.

What a great find! We loved our stay here. Perfect location; close to everything and right on the water. Amazing breakfast buffet and nice snacks and dinner also provided. The price is definitely too high for this type of structure; it feels like a 3-star hotel. The property is quite old and the breakfast was underwhelming for a 4-star rating. On the bright side, the location is perfectly central. The gym, sauna, and heated outdoor jacuzzi (available for €5 per 30 mins) were the highlights of the stay. Great location, but poor value for money.

Straightforward check in upon arrival. Room, although fairly compact in size, was cosy and clean.
Nice little view of the sea.
Excellent location for everything!
Breakfast was great, no complaints there! I thought there was a wide variety to choose from.
Hot drinks and cakes served 3-5pm was a lovely touch too.
Had 1 evening meal there which was lovely. Not a huge variety but that wasnt an issue as I liked what was on offer!
Would highly recommend this hotel and will be back!

What a lovely, cozy stay right in the center of Tromsø! Breakfast and dinner, as well as midday snack, were wonderful and such a great value. The sauna was so nice to use after a day of sightseeing (there is a jacuzzi as well with a view of the town, with a small charge to reserve and use it).

Amazing facilities, you have to try the rooftop hot tub even if it’s raining (it was an extra fee but totally worth it). The food included was nice - nothing fancy but not having to pay for breakfast and dinner out means you can save for all the incredibly activities tromso had to offer. Beds were super comfy, rooms were clean - we will definitely be coming back to this hotel when we’re next in Tromso

Brilliant hotel in Tromsø city centre. Walking distance to most of the tourist attractions ie Polar museum, arctic cathedral and a short bus ride to the cable car. Breakfast, evening snacks and dinner are provided with booking which is very nice. Just one point to note about dinner: this is served between 18:00 to 20:00, so if you are going on a northern lights tour you will miss the dinner. Furthermore, for a 250£ / night hotel they don't clean your room unless specifically requested at the reception. They cleaned our room once during our 7 day stay, but for some reason only did the bathroom but not the bed. Overall, very nice hotel would definitely recommend.

Overall the hotel was clean, comfortable and in an excellent location. The two small issues I had were that my room wasn’t cleaned once during my 5 day stay, no clean towels, no spare toilet roll. The other was with the room door, they are difficult to lock as you have to tap your keycard to lock the door and sometimes it didn’t work. There was also no safety lock on the inside which made me feel a little nervous as a solo traveller.

Great location, decent meals, awful beds. We had 4 rooms, 8 single beds. 3 had just a box spring and a 2” squishy mattress topper with NO mattress. Worst bed ever had in any hotel 2 had new memory foam mattresses, 3 had an old box spring & mattress. At over $325 a night, expect a decent bed. Also had maid service once in 8 nights.

The included breakfast and dinner buffet, as well as coffee and cake for Fika - was a big part of why we chose this hotel and they didn’t disappoint. It was a great way to save money especially with everything in Tromso being quite expensive. The location was a great spot on the water and facilities included sauna and gym. However, we didn't rate the actual room - was quite old and tv didn’t work well (was glitching and only a few channels no streaming services). There is also no spot in the hotel to see the aurora from e.g. a windowed area or rooftop. Despite the picture of the rooftop/spa - that is only available for an hour payment and booking. Quite disappointing as from our room our view was another building and couldn't even see the sky. This meant we had to keep going outside in the cold to see conditions. The rooms also aren't serviced daily - only every 3 days, which eas weird for a hotel.

Overall, a decent option to save money for meal inclusions, but be aware of limited visiability and room inclusions.

Our flight was late and almost lost the dinner time. The front desk Sam was helpful and extremely professional handling my concern. We end uo having an delicious dinner, no better way to start our vacation in Tromso. Thanks for the restaurant cooker and stuff that prepared the meals and the friendly stuff. Thanks for tge wonderful experience in Tromso. We are planning to visit again and looking for to see you guys again

Where do I start? So bad. Parking was promised to be available but they had no spaces so had to pay 2.5x the price to park eight blocks away. Dinner went to 8pm. Got there at 7 and all hot items were gone. Figured I’d try to jacuzzi…wait…that’s NOK 560 per person for 30 mins!!! Total bait and switch. I must say however that the front desk staff were awesome…they just happen to working for an unfathomably bad hotel.

We Stayed at 4 Clarion hotels in 3 different countries for this trip with mostly good experience until we arrived the Clarion Hotel Copenhagen Airport.

Home Hotel Aurora Tromso- Freiza who checked us in was really nice and friendly. She found us the perfect quiet room at the end of a hallway away from the elevator to give us good nights of sleep. Though dinner was simple but helpful when you had a bad meal outside! Perfect location too!

The bed was the most comfortable bed at a hotel that I've ever stayed in. The hotel was central so walking around, you could find anything. The hot tub is NOT INCLUDED. It cost about $50 usd per person for 30 mins. The staff was amazing save one interaction I had. I was going for Fika and the coffee/tea station didn't have any tea so I asked the front desk lady if it's moved or just all gone. She said its over there in the machine. It was not my first day at the hotel but they were doing a remodel so I asked if it was a new machine and went back to check it out again. It was not. I had used the machine before so I mentioned that the machine has the water but im looking for teabags. She got upset and reiterated that it was all over \"there\". I asked if she could show me because maybe im overlooking it. By this time she was pissed and walked out to the tea area with an attitude. She said someone must have moved it to the new dining area (again, it was under remodel) and that she will just make a new tea caddy. It was all very rude and disrespectful and she didn't apologize for talking to me like I was an idiot.

Staff all really lovely, particularly reception team. Fab location on the harbour front and very central to the shops and activity pick up points. Rooms very comfortable, we had a superior double and twin. Ours was missing drawers so had nowhere to unpack clothes but otherwise rooms were great. Rooftop jacuzzi was a bonus. Our only criticism would be food. Breakfast and fika (afternoon tea and cake) were both great but dinner was limited. We stayed 3 nights and on 2 nights there was only one option, the same pork stew. Food itself was good but if you didn't like the main dish, you could struggle

We had a good stay just before Christmas and the included breakfast afternoon snack and dinner were very convenient when we didn't want to venture out after a long day out. (More on the food in a moment) The room was very comfortable however the shower took a long time to heat up every time (15 minutes!) which was a bit annoying. The room was very peaceful and hotel very conveniently located in town. The food was generally good, however anything off the 'hot buffet' at breakfast and dinner was quite lukewarm even straight after it was brought out. The afternoon snack mentions waffles on the website but we never saw any waffles, just one type of tray-bake cake each day with coffee and hot water set out but no non-dairy milk option, I could only find non dairy milk at breakfast. I overheard some vegan guests really struggling to find anything to eat for their evening meals even dispute a sign saying things can be made for dietary requirements etc. overall the stay was good but I would have preferred the food to be hotter. The receptionist also seemed to disappear quite often with no means of calling for them to come back or sign left out one evening so was waiting around the lobby with several other guests for over 20 minutes one evening when I wanted to ask for an extra pillow.

They don’t clean the room for you each day unless requested in advance. The room was really basic, no fridge which was quite a downer. For the price paid it’s quite disappointing. The breakfast and daily evening meal was quite substantial so that’s good. Overall, the location was great so that saves us a lot of time.

Location: The hotel is conveniently located right in front of Port and provided unmatched views of both Tromsø Bridge and the Lights. It is also at walking distance from city centre and major attractions.

One of the highlight is walking around the port late evenings for sighting Auroras on clear sky.

Food: Breakfast was amazing with vareity of options suitable for vegetarians, vegan, lactose intolerant and meat lovers.

Dinner however had less options for vegetarians and could be improved.

Overall an excellent location to stay with your friends or family.

The location is great, with a view of the harbour from the ground floor dining area and the rooftop jacuzzi. They offer complimentary light dinner and fika (afternoon snack, usually cake) on top of the braekfast. Food quality was only ok most of the time, but it was fine. They do charge for the jacuzzi, but the sauna and gym are free. When we checked in we had to wait for 15 minutes because reception was inexplicably empty, but when they were there they were generally helpful. Room was standard for hotels at this range.

Safe location. Upon arrival they rushed us to dinner (was included) before they shut down the dinner line. After they welcomed us. They also stored our bags while we ate. Room was upgrade. Room included bathtub and shower. Heated bath floor. Kettle for tea and coffee. Hot chocolate would be appreciated. No scheduled house keeping, but available upon request. Bus from the airport drops you off at the hotel and at several locations within walking distance. Shopping all around for blocks. It’s right on the water front and only 5 min walk to the central bus station when many of the tours depart and end. Get the breakfast and dinner option. It was definitely worth it. They also have tea at 3:00 or they call it cake. Over all worth the money for the stay. It’s an expensive town and the included meals were worth it. We always felt safe walking the area. Ice and snow was a different issue. Enjoy your stay.
