Really great location, brilliant breakfast that sets you up for the day, the breakfast was from 6-10am, so if you've been out late chasing the lights then you can still have a bit of lay in and get breakfast a bit later. There's a free coffee machine in the comunal area along with some games to pass the time away if needed. Just a 2 min walk from thd red airport bus pickup and drop off point. Roomx were spacious enough for the 2 of us for 4 nights. Yes we would recommend this hotel

The service from start to finish was excellent- we were delayed and arrived 2 hours after our expected arrival. Greeted by friendly warm staff. Nathan was extremely attentive and helpful. He went out of his way to ensure we made the most of our trip. The room and and breakfast was spot on and met our high expectations. Ideally located in central Tromso.

The room wasn't very clean, the cleaners came around once before 9am and if you had do not disturb up they didn't come back, just left a bag of towels. Breakfast buffet was good, it would be nice for the hot food to be hotter. Breakfast staff very nice. Front desk staff some nice , some not so nice.

It was a good location and very warm. Price includes breakfast and if you don’t need breakfast one date because you leave before 7am they won’t give you a refund and it is £23 per person. They offer a takeaway breakfast instead which was juice, fruit and a sandwich so not really very good for the price. A refund would have been better.

Room was isolated and inaccessible. The room was far from lift and required us to carry 3 20kg+ suitcases and multiple bags up an extra two fleets of stairs to reach. We broke one of our suitcases wheels trying to carry it up. We asked hotel staff for help after they told us no room exchange was possible and they dismissed us saying “just empty out the suitcases to make it lighter and make a few trips” then we were told they wouldn’t help carry because “it’s not part of Norway culture”. Then upon checkout we asked for a later checkout as we realised the bags took a longer time to take down and were only given an extra 10 mins which didn’t cover mutiple trips. My little sister can’t carry heavy weight and my mum who has has ops back surgery was super concerned with the heavy lifting. Unacceptable service. Breakfast was lacking in variety too, and the room linen had minor stains and bathroom was old too. Corridors were had to navigate and seemed unclean due to carpeting.

This property was extremely dingy, dated, and dirty. Hallway carpets and walls were old, and as such, looked filthy, despite what appeared to be staff’s best efforts. The lighting was depressing and dismal. Our room had stains on the curtains, streaks of wet marks down the walls, and hair in the sink when we arrived. Shower was a nightmare—way too small (despite there being a huge, empty, useless space adjacent to it), nowhere to put toiletries when showering, and guaranteed flooding across the bathroom floor when you opened the shower door to exit. Square, sharp soap dispenser in shower sliced open my shoulder when I bent down to grab something that had fallen. While online photos show the layout of the room accurately, they don’t reflect the condition of it. Reminded me of a dorm room last updated in 2001. On the plus side, the staff was extremely pleasant and the complimentary breakfast buffet was surprisingly amazing—perhaps better than any breakfast I’ve ever had at a hotel. Fresh, prepared directly in front of you, with a massive assortment of items. All in all, we were extremely disappointed in this hotel considering the price. It was slightly cheaper than other properties in the area, but given the choice again, we would have paid more to be elsewhere.

We absolutely loved this hotel - our favourite in Norway so far. The breakfast is excellent. The staff go above and beyond, and the rooms are very clean. We really enjoyed our 3 night stay here, and would definitely come again.

The rooms are well decorated and spacious. The bed was comfortable. The pull out sofa beds are hideous and whenever someone rolls over in the night the sound of springs keeps you awake. The facilities amount to a lounge with free tea and coffee (and water) which are the bare basics. The staff were pleasant enough but none of our issues were resolved. They couldn’t give us a spare pillow which is a hotel basic. The plug in the bathroom sink didn’t work so we could not fill a sink to wash faces or shave. Again, a basic. The restaurant attached to the hotel serves expensive but basic food. That was cold!

Fantastic stay at Hotel Thin Polar in Tromso. Conveniently located near good restaurants, museums and sites. The hotel staff is very friendly and helpful with extra information about transit and directions around the hotel. The room is efficient, clean, bed comfy. Hotter water in the shower would have been exceptional but adequate as is. The breakfast buffet is amazing!! Full board of every kind of breakfast wanted, both Norwegian and other cultural fare, including a very good array of gluten free food. I highly recommend Hotel Thon Polar.

The room was comfortable. The staff was very nice, except the TV in my room was \"on\" (grey light)..the remote would not work to turn it off, and I could not access the plug. The receptionist tried to fix it, but couldn't then she called the maintenance who never showed up. I asked about it 3 times, but it was never resolved. In fairness I could have moved to a different room but did not.

The white out curtains left big verticle streaks of light. ( a little challenging to sleep in the mignight sun).

The buffet breakfast was outstanding!!! wonderful staff!
Location is excellent. Very Friendly receptionist staff. Lobby/ salon is comfortable, with free coffee and a great shuffleboard table.

I would definitely return to this hotel, but would insist on moving to a different room right away if there were any issues.

The room is on the small side, however Thon group of hotels that boasts to have the best breakfast spread in Norway definitely holds some truth to it. Throughout my many hotels stay in Norway, I found their breakfast to be the best so far.

Fantastic!

I'm a single woman with a 10 year old son and we had a wonderful time here. The staff were so friendly and helpful. The beds were super comfy, the room was lovely and warm. The quilts were really good quality down and little things like that make all the difference!
My son and I loved the breakfast, a great variety to choose from. My son is really fussy so that's a massive compliment.
The hotel was impeccably clean and I loved the body lotion in the rooms.
The staff made the hotel amazing, it was good without but the friendly staff who couldn't do enough to help, really made our holiday. Thank you all at hotel thon polar. We had an amazing holiday and I hope to come back later in the year!

The hotel is fine, but has problem: the rooms are very small and there is not really much space to put suitcases. Tricky, as there's not much storage, and they don't fit under the bed. As two people with two suitcases we found it very difficult to organise stuff.

Would not stay here again. Despite asking at reception if our room would be cleaned, it wasn’t. So we had to request clean towels. Also there was no hand soap or shower gel, it simply hadn’t been topped up enough. Breakfast is very good to be fair but the hotel is poorly managed. There’s a coffee machine by the reception area which I thought was a bonus but 1) no milk and when I asked for it they didn’t have it and 2) stacks of dirty cups just left there not cleaned away. Hotel rooms are tiny, it big enough to open your case unless it’s on the bed. Location is good. But I wouldn’t stay again, the basics like cleanliness and housekeeping have put me off

Not great, very average stay!

Friendly staff, good breakfast and that's where it kind of ended for us.

Our room was located on the 2nd floor on the road side and it was super noisy. The windows are not even double glazed which means you can hear everything coming from the street level. In addition, the room noise insulation is very poor, we could hear all sorts of noises coming from other rooms. You can tell that it's an older hotel they tried to revamp but they didn't do a great job.

Regarding the cleanliness of the room, it was quite poor too. The sink was not draining well so we would find yellow water that had returned from the almost blocked pipes, every morning. Additionally, the floor had not been moped for a long time since there were layers of dust under the desk and other areas of the room.

Overall, for £230 a night we were very disappointed by the state of the double room we stayed at.

Not once did anyone ask me how my stay went, and the internet TV didn’t work. I notified two staff persons of this. One said “check in with us tomorrow” and so I did. The second affiliate was kind enough to come up to my room to troubleshoot but upon concluding the port was broken, “they’d send a technician.” I never heard anything about it again. This hotel was very expensive for such poor service. It would be advisable to spend just a bit more at a more reputable brand such as Radisson.

We got to the property at around 3:30 and the room was not ready yet. We waited in a lounge room that has games and free coffee. The property does not have parking, so you have to use public parking about 30.00 USD a day. The breakfast was so crowded we did not stay. The shower was very small, kept hitting the glass doors. The room was spacious, I never found the TV remote. And the room was clean. There are two elevators, if you are bringing many bags use the second one not the first one by the stairs that is very small. Hotel is close to many stores and shops. It was quiet not noisy at all.

Great location in central Tromso. Fantastic breakfast including a great choice of gluten free items. Lovely lounge area with free coffee, great as a spot to chill out after room check out or while waiting for transport.
Room was very comfortable and cosy. Lovely modern bathroom with a nice selection of complimentary toiletries. Only criticism of our stay is that the shower was not very powerful and the water temperature was too cool for our liking, other than that everything was great.

Good location, walking distance to public transit, restaurants, shopping, grocery stores and museums.
Helpful staff. Marvin at reception and Alina in the restaurant at breakfast particularly friendly and welcoming.
Good sized room ( paid for a larger one), clean linen and towels, comfortable bed, warm duvet. Bathroom a good size, surprising for our experience in Scandinavia. Lots of storage.
Breakfast has a wide variety of foods, including smoked salmon. Bread was really, really good. Lots of fruits.

Great stay overall. Tromso is an interesting city.

ABSOLUTELY IMPECCABLE. DON'T HESITATE - JUST BOOK!

From the moment I walked in the door, this hotel surprised and amazed me. The hotel smelt so lovely as soon as I walked in the door. New recruit Martyn was smiling behind the counter when I arrived and went way over and above to give me so much information about the hotel and the surrounding area. He looked absolutely dashing and obviously takes a lot of pride in his uniform and his position with this hotel. A true professional who was kind, courteous and obliging. Not sure how old the hotel is but it looks almost brand new. Rooms were absolutely spotless and incredibly comfortable and well appointed with lovely attention to detail. My bathroom was incredibly large with a very generous sized shower recess - it even had a heated floor! The bed was incredibly comfortable and tea/coffee facilities were in the room as well as a fridge. The hotel is in an excellent, quiet and safe location right in the heart of Tromsø. On the ground floor, there is a guest lounge room with a free coffee machine complete with coffee pods of many varieties. There are also games to play. Breakfast was absolutely amazing with so much to choose from. My only regret was not staying longer. This is by far one of the absolute best hotels I have ever stayed in and I highly recommend it without hesitation. You'll love it!

We enjoyed our stay very much. The location was super convenient. The room was very nice. The breakfast buffet was amazing!!
Our only issue was that the room was not always restocked with cups and such. And there was a couple days that we didn't have the cleaning crew didn't come in and do the whole turnover.
But, overall the hotel was clean and we would stay there again!

Nice large room with space to put our clothes. It was nice to have a safe. The large light by the door was not working when we arrived on the Saturday afternoon so I reported it to reception. The room was obviously not checked properly beforehand to check everything was working and correct. On the Monday we had the do not disturb sign on the door as was not well. Tuesday maintenance said they had fixed it but it still was not working. I was not sure why maintenance lied about fixing the light when they didn’t. Wednesday it was fixed but only went on if the light by the bed was switched on. We put the towels in the correct place on Tuesday to be changed and they never got replaced so I had to ask reception to change them. Thursday a pillowcase was left on the settee and no clean one put on the pillow that was left on the floor. The bathroom was set at 30 degrees which was very uncomfortable. The only place to plug the kettle in was either crawling on the floor to the plug under the table or balancing the kettle on the round pouffe by the bed. A health and safety hazard. I had to ask for more hangers as there were only 7. We were there for a week. The road noise was very loud 24/7 as the windows do not lessen any noise plus the cars have the winter tyres on which are louder anyway. Had to wear ear plugs but still got woken up every night by the noise. The buffet breakfast was very nice.

We ask for a room with a view as it was our daughter's 1st bday. We've got a room on the 2nd floor even though there are 6 which is a shame. There were lots of hair left in the shower floor but otherwise room was clean. It's a bit dated, clearly a cheaper Tromso hotel. We stayed in thor svolvaer before thor Tromso and had much better experience.

This place is great. It's located in the very centre of city and close to everything you would see. The staff is great, the rooms are confortables and the breakfast is rich and high quality.

The hotel is very clean. The breakfast was great. And the location was perfect, bang in the centre of everything. The rooms are small and we only had a tiny window. As far as prices go in tromso it wasnt too bad. It is definitely worthwhile getting somewhere that has breakfast included as it is so expensive to eat out.

Our stay here was lovely! The breakfast was incredible. The staff were friendly and helpful. They were also very professional. The room we had was clean and the location was very walkable. We were able to walk from the pier where our bus dropped us off with our luggage to the hotel with no problems. I would definitely recommend this hotel.
