So there was a software glitch from Enter Backpack Hotel and we where re-booked into the Enter City Hotel I would have given 5 stars for everything but, this glitch was unexpected. They emailed us to late with the change - we were already travelling.

City hotel staff was great. Nice to have a washer and a drier.

Staff was very helpfull. Very good location near the centre. There is a supermarket near the hotel as well. Kitchen was well equipped. It was lovely to have free cookies.
Room is basic and a bit small, but it reflects on the price. Water for the showers took a while to warm up, but it wasn’t a big problem.
Overall a very good place to stay in Tromsø.

The location is very good, close to the city center, and close to bus stops. In the reception you can find coffee, hot water and cookies all day, that is really great. The kitchen is available and helps a lot!
The room is clean, and the staff very friendly.

This was a great hotel for what we needed, somewhere in a great location that was safe and comfortable to sleep in. The two staff members on the evening shift were so lovely, a real benefit to the hotel and couldn’t do enough to help during the stay. The rooms are small but functional, our room had its own bathroom but the communal ones were perfectly clean so I wouldn’t let that stop you. The room we stayed in also backed onto both toilets so if you are a light sleeper bring earplugs. This isn’t a hotel and is more of a hostel vibe so don’t expect luxury but it is good value and in a great location.

Very close to city center and meeting points for all tours. The room is simple and clean and has everything you need. Staff come to empty garbage cans and replace towels daily. The private washroom is on the small side but it’s expected. The staff at the reception are friendly and kind! If you are coming with large luggage be aware that it’s up a small incline.

My first stay in a backpack hotel and it was great, so much friendlier than a stay in a hotel. Room was fine and had a good shower. I hadn’t seen a message on my Expedia account that you have to go to a different location to check in but the people I was travelling with were sent an email to explain that reception closes at 6pm. Good size kitchen and the tea/coffee point in the lounge area was great.

Decent staff, but has bed bugs

The hotel was fine for being budget. Has a shared kitchen which is nice for cooking your own food.

However, I discovered after the second night that the room has bed bugs. This should be completely unacceptable for any hotel. The rest of my trip I’ll be trying to sort this out.

The staff are super friendly but that’s about the only positive for this hotel.

Felt more like a hostel than a hotel. Small room with no closet or place to hang your clothes, and there was no elevator, but everything was proper and clean, the shared kitchen was fully equipped with tableware and kitchenware.
The staff was friendly and helpful, and the location was good.

from the minute we arrived the staff took care that our needs were met. Having just come from our artic cruise we arrived early but no problem with dropping off our luggage until it was check-in time so we could enjoy already some of the beautiful city of Tromso. A lounge with table and chairs and two sofas were available for those who just needed to collect themselves. Coffee/Tea was complimentary. Our room was Spic N Span clean and the view was to die for...really! A BIG thumbs up to Enter Backpack.

I actually stayed at the Enter St. Victoria. It was wonderful, place to spend a quiet hotel. It is a bit far from the city center and during the winter it is hard to walk uphill but I would definitely reccommend this hotel/chain. The staff was friendly and the rooms were very clean. I had a view of the water and the mountain from my room. The best part was the floor at the restrooms were heated.

We didn’t get this property as we were “upgraded” to Enter St. Elisabeth Hotel due to construction. However it wasn’t much of an upgrade because it was further from city center and we (2 people) were assigned a single at first. Luckily the reception gave us a room with 3 beds. Unfortunately reception is only there from 9 am to 10 pm, so when we needed to check out but store our luggage at 8:30 am, there was no choice. Enter City Hotel actually let us store our luggage in their room, though, so at least there’s something going on with the Enter Tromso chain.

Smaller room than others at lower price and bathroom is outside, do not have the sink which showed in the photo is apps. But room still comfort and clean with all the thing you need. Location uphil abit so it's difficult to walk and find the entrance. But they have super good kitchen that can cook anything

Good place to lay your head.

We stayed only one night. We came to Tromso for a northern lights tour and booked the hotel for only a night. We spent very little time in the room but it was comfortable and suited our needs. We were three travelers and the room had three twin beds which was a really nice option since most places do not cater to three. It was nice there was a sink in the room since the bathroom was shared with the whole floor. Everything was clean and comfortable.

Good location and value for money. The bathroom is small with fluctuating water temperatures. The staff was very friendly. The WiFi was not good in the room, but it improved in the common area. Quiet and accomaditng and the price was fitting.

warm friendly welcome from Emily, evening staff also were very helpful. As a solo traveller (first time) I was very unsure of anything, but two gentlemen helped me, by explaining on map where specific stores are, mobile phone SIM card, local brands/signs to look for, eateries etc. Also assisted with facilities. Emily booked a taxi for me upon leaving. A block away from everything, street looks down on the city, with good view.

Nice quiet place to stay between doing various activities. Open 24hrs so can get in after returning from a northern lights chase at 3am. Good to have a fridge in your room, comfy bed. Not many toilets to the amount of rooms, but having said that I never had to wait for the toilet or a shower though I guess it may be more of a wait at busier times of year.

Great location, a few minutes walk to the city centre. Hotel is more a hostel type accommodation with a big kitchen for all to use which was great. Slightly annoying was the advertised parking on site, which didn’t mention a need to reserve it in advance. We therefore had to spend quite a lot of money at one of the city centre parking garages. It would have been helpful to have known to reserve the parking. Location is great and very high up so you get some beautiful views of Tromso!

Decently priced hotel, considering the average prices in Tromso. The room was very clean and modern, and large enough for a single traveler like me. The bed was big and comfy, bed sheet, blanket, pillow case and towels were quite new. There's even a small arm chair and fridge. Minor complaints are the lack of shampoo (shower foam is provided) and the fact that the toilet gets quite cold in winter. Otherwise, a really excellent choice and value for money. 2-3 minutes from Tromso city center.

Good stay for our one night in Tromso

We had one night to spend in Tromso and this offered a triple room. It was clean and comfortable. Staff very helpful.
Sadly the three keys we had all failed after we returned from a long walk looking for the lights. We had to ring the sister hotel and wait for someone to cut a new key. Not very convenient.
Other than that it was fine.

The worst hotel that I never even got to stay at.

They took my money (quite a lot of money), refused to give a refund and then on-sold my room. To add insult to injury the receptionist would not call the manager when I tried to check in and threatened to call the police. While I can't comment with authority about the hotel facilities, room cleanliness or comfort I have marked these as terrible because, despite having paid for my room I never even got to check these out.

We booked a double room and a triple room for a total of five adults. A day before check in, Enter Backpack Hotel upgraded our room to a family room in its sister hotel (Amalie Hotel) which I thought it would be better. But we found out that they gave us a very small family room with only four beds which is not enough for five adults to sleep. We talked to the receptionist about this issue but he kept us waiting for around one hour as there were a lot of customers coming in and he was the only one who was working on that day. Eventually another more experienced receptionist came in and we requested to add an extra bed in our room FOC. He agreed and helped us to settle the issue. So the small room became even packed after fitting in one more bed but that's the best they could give us. Anyway, Amalie Hotel is near to the city centre, restaurants and most of the meeting points of those tours which is quite convenient to stay if you are not driving. The hotel provides free coffee and tea at all time too. Not recommended for group of more than 4 people.

We were in a room with a shared bathroom but I never found the toilet occupied when I needed it and the separate shower was convenient. The fridge in our room was useful for storing our breakfast items. The bedside reading light allowed me to plan the next day's activities without disturbing my sleeping roommates. The hotel was very close to the Avis/Budget car rental.

The dining area has good views. There's a comfortable lounge. My room was well laid out. It was serviced daily. The staff were pleasant and helpful. The wi fi was very intermittent in my room. It worked well in the lounge/dining area. The hotel was very quiet but noisy outside the building during the night to early hours. Free museums quite good.

Hotel location is convenient to city. People talking outside during the night can be disturbing. Reception is closed at 10.30pm. It doesn't open again until 10.00am on weekends. This applies to the Kitchen also. It is an advantage to have access to a kitchen to be self-sufficient. I went to the theatre at night which is a short walk from the hotel.

Enjoyable easy walking city

Tromso is a relaxing city. Centred around the harbour, locations are easy to find, free museums quite good, restaurants, theatre and cinema close by. Despite rain, I found plenty to do. Many nice cafes. The cafe at the top of the cable car is warm and views through raindrops were still quite pleasant.

Review of interaction and problem resolution

I booked a private room with shared bathroom. My top priority was to have a kitchen to manage my budget in Norway, which is known for expensive food. About a week after I booked on hotels.com, the hostel sent me an email saying that they would be closed on the dates I booked, so they had moved me to the Viking Hotell. I asked if I would still have a kitchen and they said no, but that they had upgraded me to a much nicer room. I explained about my need for a kitchen and that it seemed like a downgrade to me to have my kitchen access taken away, and it would increase my costs. I asked if they had any other ideas for compensation of my lost kitchen access. I think my emails were turned over to a manager at this point, and I got a very nice reply apologizing for the situation and informing me that I would be moved to an apartment with a kitchen. After a rocky beginning, the situation was resolved beyond my expectations and the apartment was very nice.

5 minute walk from the very centre of Tromso and 12 minute bus ride from the airport so a perfect location to stay at if you're interested in spending more time out and about.
Staff were friendly and helpful and the hotel was generally warm and welcoming. Lovely showers/bathrooms!
Breakfast wasn't exactly the most exciting selection of food, but the dining area was pleasant.
Tromso itself is an incredible place in January - you can't see the sun but there is daylight from about 10am-3pm which was a nice surprise! Huge range of things to do nearby and places to see and explore.

Icy cold dilapidated apartment

ABC Hotell is located up a dirty, dark and uneven steep slope, dragging heavy luggages up is a an uphill battle, walking up and down daily will be a nightmare for those who have difficulties walking. Furthermore, the check in counter is located up a few stairs instead of at the ground level. For those staying at the apartment, it is located a few buildings away from the hotel and you have to walk up a long dirty flight of stairs. Inside the building, the apartment is located in the second level with NO lifts at all. It'll be a disaster for those carrying heavy luggages. It is absolutely an unfriendly hotel in terms of location and hotel management. We need to drag our luggages all the way up to the check in counter, drag down again to the apartment location and drag it up again to the apartment upstairs. It's totally irresponsible of the hotel for not indicating these in the details of the apartment.

The apartment itself is quite old, dilapidated and cold. The wall and table lamps were out of order, the toilet ventilation was non existent, the refrigerator was leaking and the doors cannot be closed properly. The apartment was icy cold when we checked in, we switched on all the heaters to the maximum and the apartment was still very icy cold. The hotel staff is a young lady and doesn't seem to know much when we ask her questions. We brought her to the apartment and she checked the heaters. She said the heater is hot and is working properly and shouldn't be a problem.

Our reservation was messed up. Booked a room with private bath but was given one without it. The staff was finally able to give us one, but with 2 single beds of different height! Moved beds together but neither one was comfortable. The bath smelled like raw sewage. Had to keep the door closed and the fan on. Breakfast was ok. Staff was very helpful. Would recommend the staff find a better place to work.

ABC Hotell is a nice budget hotel located right outside of the center of Tromso. The staff were courteous and helpful. My room had little deficiencies here and there--broken shower door, poor heating. I didn't complain so can't comment on how they would respond. I didn't mind the deficiencies. Otherwise, an enjoyable short stay in Tromso.

Ho passato due notti in questa struttura e l'ho trovata molto condortevole. La stanza abbastanza spaziosa affacciava sulla via sul retro molto bella e verde. Dalla mia finestra vedevo alberi e giardini. La signora della reception molto gentile e disponibile. Se hai un problema negli orari in cui la reception è chiusa puoi trovare assistenza nella reception dell'Enter Viking Hotel.

It is a very calm accommodation. I had a small room with desk, bed, sink, mini-fridge and TV. The bath and toilet were shares among guests by the hallway. There was a common area to watch TV with a shared kitchen. Rules were simple and the personell was always very attentive.
It is a nice hotel near the city center and meeting points for attractions. Don’t forget to buy your spikes.

Ingen luksus, men koselig :-)

Greit og rimelig sted å overnatte. Fikk tilsendt kode til nøkkelboks, der nøkkelkort til rommet ble hentet. Rent rom med kjøleskap og vask på rommet. Toalett og dusj deles med de andre i etasjen. Minus at det kun var kalt vann i dusjen på morgenen. Trenger man parkering, må dette bestilles på forhånd. Ingen i resepsjonen ved vårt opphold.

Prezzo molto alto per quanto offerto

In generale il posto non è male, la zona in comune è molto carina e si presta per lavorare con il pc, la camera è piccola ma comunque dotata di lavandino. Note dolenti: prezzo spropositato per un alloggio senza bagno in camera, pulizia del bagno in comune non sempre eccellente (questo per colpa di altri ospiti), insonorizzazione camere inesistente (addirittura tra la porta e il soffitto ci passa un dito, quindi è come dormire in corridoio).

Vi hadde ingen problemer med vårt opphold. Fikk rommet som er inntil resepsjonen, og det var litt lytt, men det var ikke et stort problem for oss, var rolig på hotellet. Rommet var grei størrelse, badet var rent, og sengen var god. For prisen syns jeg absolutt det var bra. Eneste som var litt slitsomt var at når man dusjet ble det vann utover en stor del av badet, men vil ikke si det trakk opplevelsen ned for meg.

너무 좋았어요!

사실 처음 방은 그냥 그랬어요 근데 예약했을 때 미리 원베드 방을 요청했었어서 여쭤봤더니 흔쾌히 바꿔주셨음 바꾼 방에서 3박했는데 진짜 너무너무 만족!!!! 주방 엄청 좋고 식사장소 좋고 무료커피 최고 맛있어요,;;
그리고 계속 직원분이 바뀌시는데 다들 엄청 친절하세요

그치만 숙박시 유의할점: 오는길에 오르막길 있는데 32인치 캐리어끌다가 넘어졌습니다 엄청 미끄러움 엄청 힘들구여.. 근데 다른 숙박업소들도 비슷한 위치들인듯 함. 숙소에서 직원분이 캐리어 옮겨주셨어요 엄청 친절..

Lille men hyggeligt værelse, sødt personale

Havde et meget lille, men hyggeligt værelse. Stikkontakter placeret meget uhensigtsmæssigt. Fik et lille køleskab ind og det var fint, men absolut meget lidt plads. Korridorens gulvtæppe snavset og ikke støvsuget den uge jeg var der. Super sødt venligt personale.

Voor een paar dagen een prima backpack Hotel.
Je mag je eigen eten koken en maken in de gemeenschappelijk keuken.
Koffie en thee is de hele dag gratis.
Elke dag schone handdoeken.
Om een paar dagen Tromso te bezoeken en op jacht naar het Noordelricht te gaan prima hotel.
