We really enjoyed our stay at Our Habitas Atacama and appreciated how thoughtfully the hotel’s design and aesthetic mirror the surrounding desert landscape.

Breakfast was excellent, with a diverse spread and the added bonus of choosing a hot dish from the menu each morning. It was a great way to start full days of exploring. Service and housekeeping throughout our stay were also consistently warm, attentive, and reliable.

One of the standout experiences for us was the stargazing offered at the hotel. Being able to step out of our room, sip chamomile tea, and take in an incredibly bright night sky right within the property was truly special experience.

We booked our excursions through the hotel’s preferred partner, Trekana, and had a seamless experience. Tours were always on time, guides were knowledgeable, and everything was well organized, allowing us to fully enjoy each outing.

As other reviews mention, the hotel is about a 10–12 minute walk from the town center, and the road can be quite dusty. This didn’t bother us at all since we frequently walked into town to shop and dine, but it’s good to be aware of.

Overall, we loved having Our Habitas Atacama as our base to explore such a unique region. Would definitely recommend and would happily stay again.

Great staff, very clean and nice property, i would have rated 4/5 for pioneer rooms being a bit smaller in size and the hotel did not provide any dental or amenities kit. But the anstronomy experience and the swimming pool more than makes up for the smaller things. Keep it going guys, i would definitely visit again for a longer time

Very beautiful place staff is very friendly, however in our three days there we had too many issues with restaurant and reception. One our two issues could have been excused but altogether that really hindered our stay:
- charged my credit card a second time for the stay (I had paid in full at check in, they refunded me the extra charge after I complained)

- Forgot our meal orders at the restaurant, we complained, they realized their mistake and rushed the kitchen to prepare our food, we waited an hour to eat a half cold rushed burger. The restaurant was not super busy that day. They apologised and offered a 10% discount, felt like too little to late.m

- Reception advised us to see the sunset at a mirador that closes before sunset, we rode our bikes there to realize it was closed.
- we asked if there was hot water in the early morning that we could take to el tatio, they guaranteed there would be. In the morning there was coffee (which is nice) but no hot water, we asked the receptionist if we could have hot water, they said no. Minor issue but we had especially asked about it the night before and had been assured it would be available and would had been nice to have knowing it was -12C at el Tatio.

- the free bikes is a great service, however they are not maintained, the gears don’t work so well and the seat of my bike broke during a ride. If you plan to do a proper bike tour, rent bikes in the city.

The lady at the gate was very friendly and helpful.

1--And eco friendly oasis. But endless boom box music throughout the complex. Inappropriate and far from relaxing.

2- Pool lovely but badly need to invest in modern functional sunloungers. Impossible to get comfortable with what is there. Also poorly maintained.

3--There is Black plastic Rat Catcher Box literally outside dining room. Very bad.

4-- On arrival and when having lunch the manageress was holding a zoom call on her laptop shattering the quiet of tye dining area and we could hear the whole call that went on for 25 mins.

That should have been done in an office.
We went on vacation not to hear her business call while dining.

5-- Pool area is for relaxation. Guests brought boom boxes shattering the quiiet quiet. Also endless loud poolside facetime calls and showing no regard for the \"peaceful\" atmosphere they say is there. It is not peaceful.

6-- Management should have signs throughout advising of \"quiet areas\" where facetime, cpnference calls and such are not allowed. Otherwise it is like any other hotel.

Had a great stay, room was clean. Could use a little more lighting inside the rooms, would not want more outside because it would ruin the stars. Not air conditioned, but it gets so cool at night that even in the summer it didn't really bother me. There is heat if you need it.

This property was probably the highlight of our Chile trip. Almost all of the staff were excellent: the security personnel were friendly; we had a great check-in experience and felt very welcomed; the free activities (morning pilates with David and yoga with Benjamin, stargazing in the evening) were all excellent and were really nice extras for the hotel to offer. The property grounds and the rooms are very well designed, felt traditional yet modern. Overall, we had a very relaxing stay - probably a place where we would periodically come back to if we lived in Chile.

Pros: beautiful hotel, very serene, pool area amazing (though some cushions ripped up)seems half empty so seems quite private, for breakfast they can also have the chef make you an omlette or avocado toast. Definitely felt like we stayed at a very nice place for the money compared to everything else in San Pedro. Best part is if your tour leaves before they serve breakfast they will pack you a to go breakfast with several courses. Also lots of cute little spots to hangout. Provide a welcome drink (non alcoholic).

Cons: pool is always cold despite it being 90 degrees outside, the restaurant is not good. Had the lamb which was the most expensive thing on the menu and there were literally 3 bites of meat on there. Also before our arrival they messaged to ask if we want food made before the kitchen closes and when we wanted to order they said due to issues kitchen was actually closed. Upon checkin we were also told we had a massage included but had to book in advance. When we went to book they told us we didn’t need booking and to come back the next day at a certain time. When we came they said we needed a booking and they wouldn’t have availability until after our checkout. It also turned out to just be a 5 or 10 minute head massage.

We had couple issues. We were notified on the day we arrive at hotel that one of the two rooms is not available so they gave us normal room instead of suite. They did gave us complimentary dinner one day.

Our second issue was that there was no phone available first night. It was very warm during the day.

I think this is a decent hotel. Don’t expect the premium it sell itself as. I think there are way better properties if you pay the base price for Habitas.

Some grips:
- mosquitoes, barking dogs at night, no fan so must leave the patio door open but that invites bugs.
- the restaurant staff is slow, and don’t provide the level of service as they market themselves as premium.
- Expedia says check in is at 2PM. It’s actually 3PM. Mine was closer to 4PM.

It’s a fine hotel to stay at, but don’t expect anything premium about it.

Wonderfully peaceful property, we spent the most amazing time there. Nice rooms, a wonderful garden that is being maintained with utmost care, simply a beautiful spot to enjoy some quiet and serenity. We had a cute balcony on top of our room where we could gaze at the stars and enjoy the view!
The only negative thing was that one of the waiters miscalculated the bill every single time, sometimes by more than 10k pesos.

I booked here way before the crisis started, at the onset of the protests, strikes and road blockades, through Expedia the hotel refused my request for a refund, change dates or credit, which I partially understood as my booking was \"not refundable\", but I decided to call directly to explain the situation, the staff at the hotel was unreachable by phone, when I reached somebody they transfered me to a new unreachable number or the person on the line was insensitive to my request about the hardships for a foreign traveler to reach the hotel during this time, so given the circumstances I decided to go but the very same day of my flight an airport strike started and there were warnings of road blockades from Calama to Atacama, called the hotel for information about the blockades and they told me to call the local police station because they had no need to provide me that info. I finally decided not go and send a couple of local Chilean friends on my behalf to use the room. Bad service and insensitive management !!!!!

A pleasant surprise

I was here for 3 night for the usual desert fun. Given the price ranges of the various hotels in the area, I expected that this might be a very basic hotel, but it was really quite nice!

Both the buildings and the grounds are attractive. The bar/restaurant/lounge area is pretty and comfortable; big windows to let in the sun and a timber ceiling. Breakfast was simple but satisfying: eggs, bacon, yogurts, cereals, breads, juices, espresso machine and teas.

There was also a very good Chilean wine selection, and a few beers to try. Lunch and dinner were good, though the selection was small.

It was a 10 minute walk down a quiet dirt road to the center of town, where there were a ton of restaurants. I felt safe doing this walk by myself in the daytime and the early/late evening.

The staff was friendly and helpful. The room was big and very warm in the midst of winter, and there was plenty of hot water in the shower.

I found this hotel to be overpriced for what it delivered. There was no assistance with luggage and the room was hot and stuffy with no airconditioning available. There was no fridge in the room to keep drinks cold, and it was necessary to go to the bar whenever a cold drink was needed. The wifi was not always working. The pool area was a nice place to relax in the chairs, but the pool itself was too cold and full of bugs. The restaurant had very few choices and it was mandatory to book, even though it had hardly any customers. The walk to town was about 10-15 mins along a dirt road, but this was a lot of effort in hot sunny weather. The front desk staff was helpful in booking an airport transfer for us.

Overall the hotel is ok and you are right in the middle of the desert so options are fairly limited. Breakfast was quite good, the pool had a nice area to relax. Some of the staff were very friendly and helpful.

In terms of opportunities to improve:
- No iron at all and can’t be provided - you have to pay to send your clothes to laundry even if they are clean and just need an iron
- There is a corkage fee even to drink wine in your room / on your patio, even if you don’t have a bottle opener
- At night it was loud as there was a party going on nearby (one out of our three nights) plus there were dogs barking from time to time in the early morning
- Wifi was not available in the room (our room at least) which was a little frustrating although did work well by the pool and around reception
- Worth reminding that there is no air conditioning - it does stay pretty warm in the room even at night. The fan provided is powerful but there are no sockets in convenient places to plug it in (it had to go right next to the bed), in our room at least.
- They seemed pretty strict around checkin / checkout times despite the hotel not seeming that busy.

Do not stay here look for a better alternative

The staff was not very helpful. When I checked in the front desk staff actually ask me if I need to be shown into my room. I thought that was a strange question since it was my first time to be in that hotel. I asked if I can have an early breakfast since I have an early tour the following day. The lady by the desk told me to ask my tour company since it was not book through them. She was very dismissive and would not even listen to my question. Another incident was I was asking for a wake up call and I was told the hotel does offer that service. I asked for restaurant recommendations and I was told to just walk around town and see what restaurant I like. My room was hot and all I had was a small fan to combat the heat. There were ants and spiders in the tub and sink in the bathroom every morning when I wake. The location of the hotel is a 15 minutes walk which may not mean a lot but during the day the heat can be punishing and at night the streets leading to the hotel is not lit at all. The hotel does not offer a shuttle service to their guests. This is the worst hotel I have stayed st during my time in Chile. I think I would have been better off if I stayed in a hostel. Do not book your stay here if you are thinking of visiting San Pedro.

A hidden gem!

Great choice in San Pedro if the price is right. Standard rooms are quite basic but provide everything needed. Short walk into town and staff are helpful. Breakfast is better than some reviews alude to but coffee is awful and sometimes have to prompt staff to restock the buffet. No iron available but minor issue. Only improvements I would suggest are better loungers by the pool and a bit more insulation, I could hear people in next room and dogs barking all night

Very pleasant gateway to an interesting area. Hotel was a little hard to find from instructions--although it may have been more of a glitch in Garmin Chile which had an incorrect address which got us at the wrong end of a street--we had to ask multiple locals to find it. Rooms are a collection of somewhat Spartan adobe casitas scattered in a landscaped, walled oasis area along the river. At this time of year at least we had no problem with insects. Swimming pool and public areas are nice. Parking is somewhat limited, but safely separated from the public road. The restaurant was very good at both breakfast and dinner where the menu changes daily. Easy walk to town where we were able to arrange very satisfactory tours.

Great place to stay in San Pedro de Atacama

My partner and I were highly pleased with our two-day stay at Altiplanico. The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. We had a situation where our transport back to the Calama Airport just didn't show up and the front desk staff assisted in getting us a taxi to the airport at the last minute. They also arranged for a box breakfast when we were leaving on a tour that left at 4:30 in the morning. We were actually supposed to stay here three nights, but my partner got sick and we ended up in Santiago an extra night. However, the hotel was responsive and understanding when we contacted them about our delayed arrival. The property is beautifully designed and I enjoyed wandering around the grounds to observe its architectural details. We really appreciated the location of the hotel too, far enough away from the town center to be quiet, but still an easy walk to get there. Perhaps the best part of our stay was the restaurant food. It was the best food we had on our 2.5 week stay in Chile (loved the pebre!). While breakfasts are free, you have to pay for lunch and dinner, but it was well worth it. We would highly recommend this hotel to anyone in need of lodging in San Pedro de Atacama.

Good for star gazing. Easy car parking. Charming grounds of wild flowers. Quiet road but lively local dogs at night and dawn cockerel..would recommend if you prefer to feel more in touch with the local comunity and not in an hotel bubble.

it is not hotel but jail

i've 3 nights and catch the cold by 2nd day. no heating in the room at night and asked several time for its fix-up but only bra bra.. no action.
meals are same for three days and provide it minimum basis. it is not good/bad.
no wifi in the room,it is different from expedia talks(expedia must responsible for this fact),if you want to work something with cell phone,notebook you must go to lobby.
only one guy name is franco handled all issues to guest's need.can't see here people and they ignore guest when they met.
i hated expedia .expedia should expel this hotel attheir lists.

Clean, cozy, great food & staff

Loved the whole thing! The manager went above and beyond to help us and when I was sick was kind and helpful. The food was amazing and the restaurant staff were efficient and helpful. I loved our room, clean and everyday new towels were brought and the bed was made.
Would definitely recommend and would return.

Nice hotel, 15 minute walk to \"town\"

Nice hotel. Easy to walk to town. If you have an evening tour (e.g., stars) and they don't pick up (most will drop off though), walk to town is dark. No street lights (only dirt roads in San Pedro). You'll probably acquire some canine friends along the way. Wifi works well in main building but not in rooms. Two computers for guest use too. Hotel filters water so is drinkable and also sells bottled. Much cheaper to pick up some bottles in town though (1000 v 3300 pesos for big bottle). Room was big and clean. Plenty of hot water for showers, and hotel provides shower gel, shampoo, conditioner, lotion. Thought it was pricey though, given that it's in San Pedro. Did not use pool so cannot comment.

An oasis in the desert

When our transfer pulled outside the hotel we were a little concerned. The hotel seems a bit out of the way. But once we went inside it was like an escape. We were greated by a friendly and helpful front desk who immediately helped us out with tours. Our little bungalow was fantastic. Perfectly temperature controlled and the best shower we had in Peru. Very comfortable bed. The restaurant food was also great with friendly staff. The hotel itself is about a 10min walk from town. Make sure you take a torch if you go after dark. Great hotel which we would live to go back to.

This hotel is perfect for those who want a nice clean hotel but don't want to pay the high prices that the luxury hotels in the area are charging. My room was quite large with a vaulted ceiling, shower, outdoor shower and safe. The staff at the hotel are all friendly and helpful. I ate every dinner (5 nights at the hotel) and was extremely happy with the food. Would recommend this hotel to anyone without reservation.

Good but not perfect

A good hotel and located only a few minutes easy walk form the centre of town. Rooms, amenities, breakfast and gardens are very good. The only thing letting the hotel down is that the rooms are not air conditioned. There is a stand alone fan but it is noisy and when turned off the room becomes hot and mosquitos start to buzz. Internet patchy.

The hotel is very beautiful it starts with very nice personnel that explain every detail of the room and amenities. The room is clean a comfortable, it's even equipped with a huge lotion bottle to take care of skin from desert damage. The swimming pool is an amazing place to be calm and in rest. It needs some signs asking people to keep quiet.

Quite a find out here in the desert

Hey, it's not a Kempinski but you're out in the middle of a desert for goodness sake. Not only does everything work but it's designed well which is aesthetically pleasing as well as comfortable. Management and staff should be commended for efficiency, demeanor, and being multi-multi lingual. Kudos for my room (213), shower (indoor and out), bed, dining hall, lobby, and security. Only downside was that internet was sporadic even if the LAN was running; probably a city-wide issue.

Better choices exist.

Hotel charges thru hotels.com but includes VAT which is not easy to recuperate.

Found bugs in bed and blood spot on sheets.

Breakfast was ok. Pool area is really nice.

Hotel is far from town if you don't have a car. Lots of wild dogs on walk from hotel to town.
