The rooms was ok although a little dark inside and the fixtures and fittings a little old and could go with upgrading. There was no AC which meant it remained very warm overnight. The blankets would benefit by the colours of many of the Atacama local artefacts. Rooms were clean though. Food was ok although breakfast was excellent. Location is good to get into town but it remained quiet at night. Pool is great but they could go with a few more umbrellas and seating around the pool.

I would rate this hotel just one star. And in the first place, because of the front desk service. The front desk staff is not helpful at all. Only one man, Jose-Louis, really helped us, and this is the reason for the second star. The other man, unfortunately, I didn't ask his name, answered almost all our questions with a \"stone face\" and very simple way - I don't know. The same was the next day with others. The entire staff needs to be trained on how to smile, use such words like \"please\", \"sure\", etc. If you are in the area for your very first time, it is a common thing to ask the front desk for some suggestions, advice, recommendations... And the answer - I don't know - is the last thing you want to hear in such a small town like San Pedro, with just the one short main street.
But the biggest disaster is their bed. It is extremely uncomfortable. A sagging cheap foam mattress, rocky pillows, so I got the back ache at the second night.
Sorry, there is something else good about this hotel - the breakfast is OK. Not great, but it's OK.
And a lot of crowing roosters all night through...

This hotel was terrible. Most of the staff at the front desk were not helpful.

The food in the restaurant was overpriced and had a very limited unimaginative menu. We got a sandwich to go and it wasn’t even edible.

WiFi is only available in common areas and is very slow.

The doors to the room would not close quietly so every time a door was closed it echoed through out the corridor.

There was a smell throughout our entire wing that smelled like raw sewage. We were told a room had flooded and that it would be fixed the next day but the smell lingered our entire stay.

When we arrived, it had rained for several days and there were pallets making a walkway to the wing of our hotel room. They were not stable, and no one offered to help us with our bags or show us the entry that di not require walking over them. They were very dangerous and a simple concrete slab could have remedied the problem.

Maddie and Catherine were the only bright spots of our stay. They both went above and beyond. They should train the other staff in customer service.

I would not recommend this hotel to anyone heading to San Pedro de Atacama or any of the other hotels they have. They obviously don’t care about the quality they offer their guests.

Location very good and lots of space to park. Bed was comfortable and I think it's a good place to stay. If you want to have good access to the town of San Pedro. It's quiet. The staff does a good job but not over the top.

What I did like about the property was that I could put my rental bike in the room. So my car was parked securely on the property and I used my bike from this transport.

All in all I could stay and I recommend it.

The hotel is in an excellent location with the main pedestrian street half block away. Is a charming property but is quite old, don’t expect luxury or even high comfort (to an American standard), but to be fair, is quiet good compared with other hotels in the area. There are other more modern hotels but they are quite far from the main pedestrian section of the town. The hotel

We stayed at this property for 2 nights. We ran into issues with our rental car the day we picked it up in Calama. Juliette was so amazing and spoke to the rental and towing folks for us; later there were two other gentleman from the front desk who also had conversations with the rental/ tow folks for us. He also helped me get a taxi to the airport the day we were leaving.

The property is pretty basic, but clean and the food is also basic, but the customer service from Juliette and team was exceptional!!

Can’t make my mind up about this hotel. There is a great pool - definitely nice to enjoy after early starts on various tours.
Staff were super friendly and helpful too.
However facilities in the room were quite basic. Having a fridge was a bonus however there was no safe in the room which is pretty standard nowadays. Also no AC or fan in the room which given the heat again is something I would’ve expected. The curtains over the door aren’t block out so let a lot light in - thankfully I’d packed a sleep mask to help mitigate this. Finally WiFi didn’t stretch as far as the hotel room which was a little faff when trying to book up tour things.
Overall a nice hotel with a fantastic pool and in a great location. However I do think it was overpriced for what I paid.

Poor - first morning no hot water, so no shower as they ad not checked the level in their gas tanks. Breakfast service poor - food put out early, allowed to go completely cold and not replenished, so limited choice of food if having breakfast later. Staff did not clear tables.

The hotel was clean and had 2 beds which was good. The rooms a bit run down. The hotel staff were good , but non of them spoke English which was stressful .Was unable to order food at the restaurant because it had no translation in English. It took time to use google translation. The food menu needs to be translated into English , would help as the main form of income in San Pedro is tourist. Gabriel in the restaurant and bar was very helpful and went out of his way to help us with the translation as he spoke some English. Amazing swimming pool ,but not heated so could not use it. Overall the hotel was good but slightly outdated. Walking distance to the main strip.

The staff of Diego de Almagro in San Pedro de Atacama has delivered top-notch customer service that I have rarely seen anywhere else while traveling. We had an issue with the reservation, and as soon as the reception manager and the general manager collected all the details and verified it, they immediately took action to make things better, by correcting the payment, implementing any corrective actions in their processes and more importantly by putting their face immediately, apologizing for the inconvenience. There is still humanity out there, I am so happy we found it in Yoselyn and her staff. Beyond that, the hotel is among the biggest in the town I believe, and it also offers a pretty nice swimming pool. You can't go wrong, by choosing it!

The location was excellent, close to everything but not in the middle of the tourist noises. Breakfast buffet was great. They have coca leaf tea which is what we need for the high altitude.
The room was quiet, but very hot. We're couldn't keep the windows open because there are no screens and the insects come in. We managed to get a small, very small fan from the hotel, but it was too small (4\") to do any good.
The pool was very nice.

This place isn’t worth more than USD70 a night but charges at least double that. Tiny, tired rooms and bathrooms. Tub took forever to drain after a shower. Lots of noise (e.g. people talking in the corridors or using the TV/shower in other rooms) which is easily heard at night. Staff unhelpful and officious. Wifi only available in the lobby. No complimentary bottled water offered at all, despite the notice that the tap water isn’t potable. No fans or aircon in the room despite the desert environment. No towels provided at the pool. TV picture grainy and unclear. Best avoided.

Positives: Nice pool. Acceptable, if basic, breakfast. Good location.

We had a large well decorated bedroom with a large very comfortable bed. The hotel is in a quiet area so we had a good nights sleep. The shower was hot and powerful.
Buffet Breakfast was excellent with a great range of cakes, savoury items and fruit. I’d be very happy to stay here again.

The good: extremely friendly and helpful staff, ample parking area which is very hard to find in the center of San Pedro, very good and well stocked breakfast buffet; wi-fi i pretty reliable which is not always the case in town.
The bad: rooms are quite small unless you get a \"premium\" one (there are also options like private cabins); rooms are no frills, quite basic; heating must be supplemented with electric portable heaters and even then, the room can get a bit chilly at night.
Overall a good experience and reasonable value for the price.

Hotel reception area and dining room airy and bright.
Room spacious with adequate storage. A few more hangers or hook for clothes would be nice. Bed comfortable, linen and towels clean and fresh. Bear in mind there is no air conditioning, so room was stuffy and hot during the day. Windows could be opened, but on the ground level, at your own risk.
Staff amazingly friendly, courteous and friendly. At check-in, Paola made us feel very welcome with her happiness and smiles throughout our stay. An awesome young lady.
Maria, Nancy and Hector in the dining room are attentive without being intrusive.

Overall, a wonderful stay in an awesome place.

Very friendly and welcoming. Great, if cool swimming pool.
Small but quiet room with view of swimming pool. Good WiFi. Good breakfast. Shower/bath water warm rather than hot in the afternoon but definitely hot in the morning. TV had 2 English news channels and loads of channels - sometimes a film in English.
We enjoyed our overnight stay at the Diego de Almagro. A nice relaxing place away from the madness of San Pedro.

i stay here often as it is good value for money and the space available for parking is great - something to consider in San Pedro. It is a bit run down and some of the rooms are worse than others in terms of plumbing and general upkeep - there is wifi available mainly in the main eating and reception area and the further you get from this area the poorer the signal so dont expect wifi in your room! Its a nice pool area but the pool can be very cold depending on the time of year. Breakfast is hit and miss but they need more staff on to clean tables and replenish the food - which can run out, including the coffee!

Impossible to get a good night rest

The check-in was extremely slow, with none available to check us in until they called someone from their break. I thought it was supposed to be 24h front desk! The 2 vegetarian sandwiches we ordered took about 30 minutes to prepare even if there was no cooking involved. The place was as noisy as it gets, with loud music being played at all hours (even past 2am!) and people screaming on the corridors by the rooms. Also the rooms were vey cold despite the heater, more blankets are needed.

San Pedro de Atacama is a very nice place to visit, quite different to anything I have been to before but our hotel was way overpriced for what it is... I would expect to pay about £40-50 a night for a hotel of this quality. The hotel IS in a good location in the centre of town.
The hotel is basic, breakfast was basic but staff in restaurant were nice. Check in was OK. The room was the main let down as there is no a/c and temps are high in Jan.. so sleeping was difficult. There was hot water to shower with. There was a safe in the room but couldnt fit our laptop in it. The beds were not very comfortable . The pool looks quite nice but wasnt that clean and sunloungers were uncomfortable. When I was looking to book most of the hotels had poor reviews and were over priced.. This hotel was just about ok but was very overpiced for what it was.

However the room is very dated with uncomfortable mattress, damp carpet, central heating not working properly and bathroom in need of serious repairs. The shower handle was defective and it was difficult to turn in on off and adjust water temperature. The water was hot only in the mornings but in the evenings it was barely warm. The tap to fill the bath tub did not work either.

We drove to this property in the evening and could not find it. Our GPS took us to a busy, poor-quality, too-narrow dirt road after dark. We could not see a sign to the property, or an open gate to a parking lot where the GPS told us that the property would be. I did not bother to phone the property because it was very difficult to drive the narrow, busy, poor-quality road at night, with lots of people walking around. Also, I had been told (I think possibly when contacting Expedia previously) that the property did not have anyone who could speak English when they phoned previously to state that I would be arriving the next day for check-in. Also, my mobile phone (including data and Internet) has not always worked perfectly in South America. Basically, I gave up and went back to Calama, where I had to rush to find a hotel room to stay in for that night. I also missed all of my activities in San Pedro de Atacama, and will probably not recover my prepaid expenses for that part of my trip. Missing the activities probably saddens me the most, as I believe it would have probably been an amazing place to tour.

I do feel like the hotel should have had a very visible note on its Expedia listing, explaining that English-only tourists may have difficulties finding and checking into this hotel in the evening, especially after dark when we had arrived. I believe that this hotel is probably just fine for a Chilean tourist, but it didn't work out for an English-only tourist (me).

Hotel: Very nice staff, breakfast was good, gave breakfast box when I had an early tour.
But breakfast room was freezing, out of the 6 days, I didn’t had tour in the morning for 2 and stayed in the room and noted hotel shut down the heating so it was freezing in the room.
Also at night had to use extra blankets from both beds to stay warm while room slowly warms up again…
Hotel lost power several times.
Pool (which is why I paid extra for that hotel) was unusable due to the cold…
I had internet from my room, but reception said not available in all room.
I think the hotel at $100 night is too expensive for what it is, $50/60 would be a fair price for it.

The WiFi is very flakey and the Internet continuously drops out. I couldn’t work here because the Internet was so unreliable. Which was disappointing given the cost of this hotel. It the staff were very friendly, the rooms were clean and modern and comfortable, but the bathroom was extremely small (I had to sit on the toilet with my legs out the door). There is a very good selection of food at breakfast however they only provide you will tiny little side plates (smaller than my hand) to eat on, which is laughable. The pool area was lovely.

The Diego de Almagro San Pedro de Atacama hotel was well positioned just on the south of the town center which was excellent. We were given a room right by the pool and had really good Wi-Fi.
Tbh, the general condition of the property is what one would imagine of a remote town desert location and was absolutely fine.
Breakfast was included, the usual breads, cheese slices, ham etc although I could not understand why they would present about 200 slices of cheese, 4 layers deep in a circle pattern only for most of it to go back into the kitchen and come back out the next day. The scrambled eggs were busy too runny and undercooked even for me.
There was lots of cake for breakfast too although I didn't try any most looked really good!
The pool was very nice although the surrounding flooring all needs redoing and repointing.
We were unlucky enough to visit during the wettest extreme weather the desert had seen in ten years. All the streets were mud and every day the staff hard to clean all around, we felt for them and the property.

You Don’t Get What You Pay for Here.

We spent 4 nights at this resort and had booked it on hotels.com as the description, photos, and reviews looked fine as the availability for hotels, not hostels, was low at the time due to being very high season.
The hotel experience was disappointing when considering the price of the room at $220 per night. We travelled for two weeks all over Chile and this was the only disappointed place that we stayed at and was also the most expensive.
But first, the PROS: convenient location very close to central area, quiet area,
quick check in and check out, good WiFi service, clean and large swimming pool, some of the staff were very nice and friendly.
CONS: My neighbors on both sides of our room and myself got food poisoning from the hotel breakfast buffet. We are fairly sure it was the yogurt being left out too long in the heat. Also, the breakfast buffet is about 75 percent bread product And not much healthy stuff unless you include the small fruit selection ( the strawberries looked moldy so did not try those). Also, one morning we woke up early as we were doing an all day tour. We arrived at the buffet at precisely 6:27am. The older lady with eyeglasses running the buffet “shoo”ed us away like we were stray dogs scolding us that the buffet did not open until 6:30. We could not believe how rude she treated us. The rooms were very dated, bathtub stained, moulding with paint scratched and falling off, rusty hinges, etc. No soap or TP unless you asked front desk.

The hotel tries to be good and, in general, is but it has issues. We arrived on New Years Eve and immediately headed out on a prearranged tour. We were looking forward to the special dinner they advertised for the evening, however, when we returned, the staff said the dinner was by reservation only. No one mentioned that although that information was in small print in Spanish on the dinner notice. The town was packed full and all other restaurants were also only seating by reservation. We ended up eating crackers and cheese from a small grocery store. We felt the hotel should have informed us about the reservations.

Additionally, the room safe did not work and the staff could not get it to work. The television didn't work. The room has no air conditioning (in the middle of a desert) or even a ceiling fan and the windows do not have bars so we didn't feel comfortable leaving them open while sleeping. The toilette stopped up just as we left.

On the other hand, the hotel is very beautiful and the staff were helpful when asked. The breakfast is good.

It is a good hotel but needs to improve maintenance and service.

Quite comfortable and clean but annoyed as we were given 2 singles instead of a double. Receptionist claimed we didn’t specify which I then showed them I did specify double the next morning. They moved us. Very good location in town centre and Jalala restaurant just opposite.

Location was good. Staff made efforts to be helpful. There was a dead fly in the wall of our room. Bathtub had stains as did the taps. There was no fan or a/c. Breakfast was mediocre. Lacked basic amenities such as efficiently working refrigerator, tea coffee machine, adaptive chargers, etc. Poor quality beds. No screens in window to enable opening them for cooling the room. Only one or two members of the staff spoke English.

We booked a double room, and they tried to tell us that double means 2 beds! We then ended up with a room in the main building rather than the original twin they had for us around the pool. The walls were very thin and we were woken up each morning at 4am by people talking in the reception areas as they waited for tour pick ups, then by the kitchen noise making breakfast from 6 onwards! Pool was completely unheated and we couldn't go in it although the area around it is nice. The bar doesn't serve alcohol. Very good location for San Pedro and plenty of parking as we arrived by hire car.

A Gem in San Pedro de Atacama

A very nice clean hotel with an excellent staff. Right in the center of San Pedro de Atacama, the jumping off spit for all the tourist activities in the Andes. Within a two or three minute walk of dozens of restaurants, bars, shops and tourist services. The price was reasonable as well.

Tres accueillant et convivial. Très bien situé. Propre grande piscine et patio. Trop de parfum dans le lobby mais ce n'est qu'un petit inconvénient.

Vraiment un tres bel endroit. Il est possible d'y prendre une bière ou d'utiliser la piscine wn attendant la chambre.

Expérience formadable merci à tout le personnel.

Quarto e banheiro muito apertados. Mal tinha espaco para a minha mala e de meu marido (e eram malas de bordo). Adicionalmente, nos deram 2 camas de solteiro em vez de 1 de casal alegando que o hotel estava lotado e nao havia outro quarto. Por sorte era apenas 1 noite de estadia.
Na semana anterior nos hospedamos por 5 noites neste mesmo hotel e o quarto era espaçoso e cama de casal.
