The hotel exceeded our expectations. The room was spacious, the bed very comfortable, and the bathroom well equipped. Breakfast and dinner were excellent. The two extras we really appreciated were 1) receiving a breakfast box when we left at 5:30 a.m. to go see the geysers and 2) free laundry on stays of more than 5 days. That made our trip much easier.

The room and restaurant pool surroundings were all very good. What let us down was the hotel has two sections and we were the further sections at the Refugio. If you’re also wanting closer to the main town it is at least a 10 minute good walk. Which we didn’t expect. Our fault. Being at the refugee also a little further out.

This hotel is a beautiful property located in an amazing town. The property is immaculate, well maintained and very comfortable. We love the minimalist aspect of the room including the pleasing absence of a television. The staff is very professional and very helpful. Each days activities required a box lunch and each day this was ready for us before we left no matter how early.

Highly recommend, for many reasons.

San Pedro de Atacama has a bustling dusty and active tourist center of 4 or 5 blocks by 4 or 5 blocks....This hotel is just outside the busy center, but very walkable and a welcome respite from the busyness...Hotel La Casa de San Tomas, and the added Refugio, offer a very peaceful and pleasing place to be once one has been to the town center or gone on an excursion to the surrounding natural beauty locations. The rooms are modern and large, many with beautiful views. The breakfast and dinner food is excellent, and all three meals are available. The front desk staff is very helpful.

We stayed in the new Refugio (to be mentioned when organising transport to excursions and the airport). A bit away from the busy centre, with a beautiful view of the volcanoes. All day soft drinks available at reception including a professional coffee machine. Facilities new, super clean, highly professional staff. The bed was huge and the bathroom, especially the shower excellent.

Fantastic hotel. Great customer service and away from the busy centre of San Pedro. Lacked some amenities such as a fridge and television but not really an issue as we were out everyday for activities. The external approach needs paving but this maybe done later as an extension seems in progress.
The restaurant really does not match the standard of the hotel. There is limited choice for vegetarians and vegans other than Pasta or Salad.
Similarly, the breakfast has limited hot food options.

We greatly appreciated the whole ambience - clean modern room with adjoining outdoor areas for relaxing, safe parking, inclusive 24 hour hot drinks (inc. good coffee) , breakfast spread, good quality restaurant, and attentive, helpful staff. All within easy walking to the centre of town. Not the cheapest but probably the best hotel for a comfortable stay in San Pedro de Atacama.

They are very welcoming here. From the moment you get there until you leave, you feel like family. They want to help you with whatever you need. The place is charming, like the village. The rooms are nice, but a bit warm because no A/C, only a tower fan. We made do. They have a swimming pool but water is chilly. They will give you a breakfast to go for early tours. They give you free bottles of water on arrival and there is a water machine near the reception for refills. It is a 7-10 minute walk to the main street, Caracoles, where most of the restaurants and action is.

We had an incredible 3-night stay at this hotel. It is close to the main streets of SPA and within walking distance of all the restaurants nearby.

The front desk was very helpful. Our initial room was too noisy (right by the entrance), and the front desk had no issues moving us to a quieter corner.

The breakfast was amazing. You get to try various pastries and hot items that that hotel restaurant has to offer. We also enjoyed the fresh fruit and smoothies offered during breakfast. You can find complimentary water, coca tea, and coffee 24/7 at the lobby. Bring a water bottle to save the planet. We also had dinner at the hotel on our first night. The lamb chop was to die for!

There is a pool, but we never got to use it. We were here during the winter season (early June), so by the time we were back from any day trips, the pool was too cold for us to swim in.

Highly recommended!!

Peaceful hotel with kind staff.

The staff at the hotel were absolutely lovely, and eager to help or give recommendations. I had to keep asking for blankets as, despite the heater in the room, the nights in winter in San Pedro de Atacama are freezing! I loved the fact they had a refillable water station, to avoid people buying plastic bottles - well done! And the free tea and coffee station all day in the common area was also a nice touch. It was less than 10 minutes walk into the Main Street (just take a torch if you’re walking back after sunset) and I felt perfectly safe walking it alone.

The hotel recommended a few tour companies, so I could book some trips and also thoughtfully provide breakfast bags so that you don’t miss out if your tour leaves before 7am.

Overpriced clean hotel that has no basics

Overpriced clean hotel that’s lacking in main hotel services. For a 200.$ us room I would expect a tv and a light switch near the bed ! Breakfast is basic and although tje reception looks modern it has the counter that sells drinks in the Miele of tje checking area . This is called the bar . It’s hardly a hotel bar . No place to relax in reception lounge and breakfast is served in one room then the coffee is served in another and a third room for fruit fir brecfast . Do you have to visit 3 rooms to get you breakfast!! . Also. Tje hitel want payment in us $ if you want t to pay in local currency tje room rate is more about 20% more . This is not explained in hotels .com . Best avoid the overpriced hotel .

Nice and clean hotel, close to the city centre. Food could be better but we weren’t impressed with food in Chile full stop. It takes a while to get a hot water in the shower. One night it didn’t get hot at all but again not sure if that’s not the same everywhere. We got chocolates and bottle of fizz for our wedding anniversary which was nice. Staff were very helpful and arranged our transfers to the airport.

Too far from main street

On the first night, the hotel provided free champagne and chocolate candies. Every day they replenish the complimentary water bottles.There is complimentary tea, water and coffee in the lobby 24x7. The staff cleans the rooms thoroughly, sometimes taking up to an hour each room. For the price we pay, I expected plush towels but the towels they provided had seen better days; they were rough. The location is not very convenient; it's a .4 to .5 mile walk to the touristy part of the town where restaurants and shops abound. This is not long distance in nice weather but it's a long walk in the heat. If you want to eat at their on-site restaurant, you have to sign up early. Once we decided at last minute to eat there and went to the front desk. They said the sign-up sheet had been taken away. There was a full sign at the entrance. This was 5PM. Two hours later when I went to the lobby to get water, I saw the full sign still up but only a table occupied.
Breakfast was a small selection due to the small size of the dining room but it was adequate for our needs.
There is no TV in the room; guests around here opted to sit outside in the shade reading or chatting. Some would go swimming in the outdoor pool too.

Hotel is within walking distance to tour meeting places. Having 24 hour hot and cold water supply in the lobby is a plus. Dinner is nice.
On the other hand, I wish to have a more roomy room as originally promised. The washroom (and the sink) is small. A few more hooks and bars here and there would help. Not enough space to layout my luggage. A small fridge in room would be great. Please improve WiFi quality (at least for most of my stay there). Please provide staff who can understand English in the evening (if you want to have more tourists from English speaking countries), and which is important for last minute arrangement (shutte bus, tours ... etc).

Excellent hotel with superb service and location (10 min walk from town centre). Pool was good too. Some upgrading of facilities taking place which did not affect us at all, however hotel gave us free fizz to compensate for inconvenience (even though none). Free packed breakfasts were available if taking an very early morning excursion thereby missing breakfast. Overall it was a good experience and i would recommend hotel if staying in San Pedro.

Super friendly and accommodating staff allowed me to store my luggage before check-in and after check-out. Room was very clean. It was very hot in San Pedro during the days I was there and the room retained the heat in the evenings. A fan was provided to solve the situation. There is extensive waterline(?) maintenance going on at this time, involving lots of digging and, unfortunately, lots of dust. This resulted in a slightly lower rating than I would have otherwise given. The hotel is about a 10 minute walk from the central shopping area and plaza.

A quiet location in San Pedro de Atacama

La Casa de Don Tomas is well located away from the tourist bustle but within easy walking distance from the centre, restaurants and shopping. There is a good on site restaurant. The staff are very helpful and friendly. Despite the construction underway in October the disturbance was minimal. We thoroughly enjoyed our 8 day stay and would recommend it to friends.

Stayed here two years ago, came back and Don Tomas has only gotten better. Fantastic breakfast, all day coffee, tea and water available. Staff is most forthcoming.
