The room was neat and clean, and we appreciated the very nice towels and linens. We also really liked it. There were fresh water stations on every floor. The staff couldn't have been nicer or more helpful. A small café downstairs a very good latte!

The property is completely out of sync with the times...from the filthy carpet to broken tiles and washroom knobs... everything was bad. When the temperature is 20 degrees, the hotel refused to switch on the AC. Staff are better. It is a big blot ok the Holiday Inn name. I moved to IBIS for 4 days.

Overall, it’s good hard to see the mountains. I had a mountain view broom, but there is barely mountains to see lots of buildings in front of window, and there is constructions on the backside of the hotel. I hope the spill improve in the future thanks.

Changes for the worse

I had a great stay in the fall of 2023. The summer of 2024, the hotel is undergoing renovation and a shift towards hosting large groups of tourists (often sleeping in the common areas as they awaited their rooms). Breakfast was of low quality. Some young people working at the front desk were excellent, and others were lackluster and poorly trained. location (near a large shopping center) is excellent, but I won't be back.

Stayed there for around 5 days, and the hotel unfortunately falling apart.
Staff and service are excellent. Staff goes beyond and above to help, and accomodate your needs. They make sure you are happy and do their best to make your stay comfortable as much as its possible giving the conditon of the hotel.
Rooms are outdated, towels are very old and thin. When I asked, the host brought very good fluffy towels, but to get them you might need to ask. The lights in the room are very pale, its almost dark and feels uninviting, carpet is dirty and old. It feels like staff does everyting to keep this place clean and tidy, but management invests ZERO to make it happen.
Overall, my big THANKS to staff for accomodating our needs and changing the room, giving good towels, umbrella when it was raining, etc. And lots of questions to management and owners, the hotel has amazing team working there, location is spot on, why not to make tis hotel one of the bests in towm?

On checking in I waited about 15 minutes as there was only one person working the check in desk. No apologies were made for this delay as if its normal… The room was noisy and facing onto a very busy road. The hotel is showing signs of age. Breakfast was good, the location is central and close to a mall. I was honestly not very impressed with hotel. But it was well priced I guess…

Good hotel in Almaty. Good combination of price and quality. Cosy rooms. They have tea sets in the rooms, which is a nice touch. If that needs to be re-stocked ask receptionists 2-3 times to do that as room service may forget that during their morning rounds. Bear in mind the hotel does position itself as a 4 star one, so do not expect 5 star luxury. With that attitude you will get a well located hotel with good price-quality ratio and enjoy a relatively comfortable stay.

I booked (and paid for) a king. I was downgraded to a (very narrow) single on check in. No offer of any compensation was offered. I even had to pay for breakfast. The staff said sorry, but they were full. “Sorry” doesn’t give me what I paid for.

We arrived at the hotel at 5 AM but the room was not ready until 45 minutes later though we paid for the room starting from the previous day.
The staff neither apologize nor compensate us for the inconvenience. One night two men somehow opened the door and walked into my room at about 4:30 AM. They ran away when I was awaken and shouted at them. I informed the hotel but there's no follow up.

The burgers from room service were average at best.

Arrived at about 6 am but room was not ready. Waited for about an hour, front desk said that computer was down. Just sat. Room was tidy and clean. But there were stains in the WC. Room cleaning was a little shoddy. Breakfast was ok. Staff were neutral. Letter apology came later, unaddressed; ie standard reply, and offered only a drink at the bar.

My first trip to this city with out knowing where to stay. HOLIDAY INN ALMATY was pleasant surprise. good location with friendly and Excellent staff. I arrived late at night and I was very tired but front desk staff Aidos, made my checking experience super fast and easy also extremely friendly and professional. I HIGHLY recommend this hotel and best little secret in Almaty. I ate several time at hotel restaurant both buffet and A LA CARTE item was excellent.

The hotel is well located and has some but not full essence of a Holiday Inn. First: my room was facing the street on the 7th floor and i was amazed at the lack of sound insulation! Terrible is an understatement. The hotel is providing ear plugs at the bedside so they know this problem. Please avoid such a room if you decide to stay there.
finally a very very tiny issue but shows integrity: my colleague was charged 2000 tengey (local currency so about 5 gbp) for a taxi that would have charged 200 tengey (50p). and should the hotel be considerate: they should have advised her to walk 5 mins. lol. Be careful!

Nice, clean and confortable hotel in almaty. Wifi is good staff is nice and helpful.food and room service a little bit overpriced.location is ok but a bit far from the center and theres not much around. Yu'll have to walk a lot, metro is not efficient, not enough stations and very far one from another. Then the taxis, absolute nightmare they will all rip you off and try to make yu pay as much as 10 times than locals. Thats the biggest issue in kazakhstan. Be very very careful with taxis, always negotiate the fare before you get in and always ask a local what should be a fair price.

Overall the stay was good, not great, but good. We had breakfast which was adequate, but expensive, $18 each. There was small problem with the bathroom: the shower head was not adjusted properly, water went everywhere. The hair dryer did not work. Also the handhold in the tub was loose. Someone could've gotten hurt. The registration staff spoke very good English and were extremely helpful. We stayed at this hotel on two separate nights. We will stay there again if the opportunity arises.
Hotel is about 25-30 minutes from airport.

An Amazing Holiday

Having visited every other country considered to be European, I thought it time to visit Almaty in Kazakhstan. I was more than pleasantly surprised by the Hotel. The staff were exceptional and always made me feel important and wanted. The breakfast was more than I could imagine. I would certainly stay there again not just for those reasons but it is well situated in a pleasant part of the city. I would also like to mention that a trainee receptionist agreed to show me part of the City on her day off, which meant that I could relax knowing I was in good hands and getting local knowledge. The City itself was amazing. The general cleanliness, beautiful buildings and tranquil parks made for a most enjoyable stay.

I was in Almaty to visit a friend and stayed for the first time in Holiday Inn, (before I used to stay in the intercontinental Almaty, very comforting for a little bit more money).

My friend came to visit me in the hotel, and the staff wanted to charge me in order for my friend to come to my room for a coffee. Thinking, and assuming that my friend was going to stay the night, even though I explained.
Not allowed visitors, as if I was in a prison, and the security at the door is watching you.

I asked house keeping for extra tea and sugar, as I am a big tea drinker. I was even questioned by the cleaning lady on why I want so much tea. Disgrace ,as I was not staying there for free.

Being an IHG member and I am a regular traveller, and stay in many different top 4-5 star hotels, but I had the worst experience in this one

Not very comfortable stay, and I will definitely not stay ther again, and will not recommend a friend either.

Not as nice as the typical Holiday Inn

This felt closer to a motel 6 than a holiday inn. The bathroom was awkwardly configured, and the shower curtain smelled musty. The room was too warm and the coverlet heavy, so it was hard to sleep - and the bedding was scratchy too. The food was mediocre, compared with some lovely meals elsewhere in Almaty. The staff were very nice, but the hotel itself leaves something to be desired.

The hotel is not central so it's difficult to walk places.

Stayed for a trip coming back from Kyrgyzstan on completing an adoption. Hope was reasonably priced, and a quick cab ride to the U.S. Embassy. They wouldn't call city cabs, but did have reasonably priced transportation. (not like some other hotels in the area).

i had stayed 3 hotels in almaty and this one isn't certainly the best one. the room wasn't quite ready when i entered, and the toilet smelled in certain period of time of the day. Given these may happen in any other hotel, i would stay here again if the cost including breakfast is reasonable.

Nice Solid Hotel, But Not Great Location

It is a nice enough hotel, like any Holiday Inn anywhere in the world. Breakfast and other food in the restaurant is good. Staff are friendly and fairly well-trained, but this is the part of the hotel that is definitely not like Holiday Inn elsewhere. They are friendly but just don't have the level of service training that you would find at Holiday Inn in the US for example. Our waiter the first night at dinner was comically bad at his job, forgetting orders, leaving table while people were placing orders, confused about menu items, etc. But he tried hard and was full of apologies, which is not typical for service everywhere. I would probably not stay here again because of location. It is walkable to Dostyk and several attractions, but the hotel is kind of tucked away from most of the interesting parts of the city and it is on an intersection of two highways. I'd rather stay in a slightly less-nice hotel close to Panfilov. But if you're on business or airport transit or only interested in this part of town, it could be a good option.

Met expectations and with great staff

I expected a Holiday Inn to be pretty similar to holiday Inns in the States and wasn't disappointed. Hotels in Almaty are expensive and this Holiday Inn was in the lower price range for good hotels. Property is fairly new. Hotel is in good condition. Room was nice with a comfortable bed and both firm and soft pillows provided. The only negative about the room is the 'lounge' chair is horribly uncomfortable (bad angle). Great water pressure and loads of hot water. Minibar is overpriced. Walk to the gas station across the street for drinks and snacks. The front desk staff was very friendly, helpful and fluent in English. This hotel was recommended by an Almaty resident and now I'm recommending it too.

I stayed for 5 days to do business and was satisfied. the location is in walking distance from Central Almaty. nice parks in the area. Staff were efficient and friendly. Don't order food in the hotel. It cost 2 to 3 times more than ordering in a nice resto down town. There is no business center beyond a couple computers.

I stayed a week at the Holiday Inn in Almaty and found it to be excellent in all aspects. I didn't pay ahead of time for breakfasts, but found them to be worth every tenge. They had a great spread of breads, cheeses, dates, figs, nuts, and fruits to go with the usual eggs and bacon that Americans like. Good coffee and juices too. I've seen some good breakfasts, but this beat them all. Staff were professional and helpful. A great place to spend a week in Almaty!
