Overall the stay was very good. The receptionists and concierge were very helpful, and the gym was very clean and with new machines and a nice pool. My only criticism is that the bar in the lobby is understaffed and service could be slow, and if one wasn’t sitting near the bar, very slow. It needs more than one person working there all the time. Otherwise, the hotel overall provides a great service and the staff are all very helpful and kind.

The hotel definitely needs to be renovated. Teams have to be retrained. This is definitely not a 5-star hotel and it is sad to see it being a part of the Intercontinental?Perfect family.

This property is very old, needs repair, and is not in line with the quality generally expected from the InterContinental brand (due to age) - time to repair and replace equipment - I don't think I've seen an older lamp in the last 10 years than what I had in my room

Great hotel in all aspects

This was a great hotel with impeccable service! I had a two-week stay there and the staff was excellent from checkin to checkout. Breakfast buffet is awesome!

Overall I enjoyed my stay at the Intercontinental Almaty. The hotel was well situated for my purposes and was close to some local parks but if you are looking to go out in the evening, it's a 20 to 40 minute walk to the main streets where there are plenty of pubs and restaurants to choose from offering a good variety of cuisine. I avoided using the local taxis as I have heard from colleagues that they do tend to overcharge tourists.

The room was clean, spacious and well equipped. Reliable and free Wifi and good selection of international TV stations. The room servicing was a bit hit and miss with some days the glasses and mugs would disappear for no apparent reason (I'm guessing just an oversight) but a bit annoying when you want to make a cuppa. Some days my bed was turned down and I'd get a complimentary Turkish delight and other days it wasn't (not that I am particularly bothered as I am perfectly capable of turning down my own bed) but when one day it happens and the next day it doesn't it just raises a question as to the consistency of the service.

The shower was disappointing - not very hot (for me) and low pressure (I was on level 1) and on one day the hot water came out a rusty brown colour (I'm hoping it was rust), but the problem was resolved by later in the day.

The breakfast selection was very good, but again there were a few niggles like not having napkins available at the table on some days, or having to order tea and coffee, rather than helping yourself

Needs a complete renovation

The hotel needs a complete renovation--a three-star parading as a five-star hotel. Beds are comfortable, but bathrooms are extremely uncomfortable and small.

Decent hotel but don't bother paying for a Club Ro

The hotel was generally very good but did not live up to the usual Intercontinental standard in my opinion. The club floor and lounge was very disappointing - staff not great, limited selection of food and drinks and a poor breakfast.

Very old and out dated decor

For a 5 star hotel, the one falls way below my expectations. I have stayed in 5 star hotels around the world and none of them have been this bad. Rooms very out dated and in desperate need to refurb. And especially when considering the price you have to pay per night this quality is definitely not acceptable

Two nights at Almaty

This hotel has the expected level of comfort for the chain. We commend the assistance of the concierge staff, in particular. One of the better hotel breakfasts, too.
Only criticism would be that the J Bar is clearly under-staffed. The time taken to order and then receive food was excessive. No criticism of the actual staff - just that at least one more is needed.
Otherwise, a pleasant stay.
Oh yes, the concierge arranged a very good tour.

I have stayed in several hotels in Almaty when I have been there for work and Inter Continental is by far the best one. Great service, great amenities, great location, really nice staff. The only negative feedback that I have about this hotel is that hotel taxi drivers really take advantage of guests so try to avoid them. When I complained about the taxi fares in the reception, I was told that they dont have much business so they need to charge more (???). You can always ask in the reception to order a normal taxi for you which is a lot cheaper!!

Excellent hotel with superb service

Stayed for three nights and enjoyed it very much. The staff, the attitude, amenities, choices. A real 5-star (don't know why it is listed here as a 4-star hotel). The only thing is that I stayed in 201, and the room is in the corner and has a rather small window. So, if you like daylight, you feel deprived a bit. And the hotel is kind pricey, but they have little competition, so that's understandable. Great breakfast, by the way. And the staff are just superb!

Das Intercontinental zählt zu den besten Hotels in Almaty, die Zimmer sind aber leider stark abgenutzt und das Inventar einschließlich völlig vergilbter Telefone aus den 90er Jahren mindestens zwanzig Jahre alt. Angesichts des Zustandes sind die Übernachtungspreise von rund €400 nicht zu rechtfertigen. Auch das Preis-Leistungsverhältnis der Gastronomie ist schlecht.
