Hotel is very cool - in concept. EVERYTHING requires maintenance, refresh, replacement. I'd rather have way less \"neat\" and techno items, but the things there worked well. Beds and bedding were good. Rooms were very spacious. However, we paid ignificantly more for a suite with a sauna - sauna was disgustingly dirty. Fancy shower panel and it kept shorting out so and was so old/dirty. Electric curtains didnt work, multiple panels were completely broken, and the couch was disgusting: dirty and completely sagging and worn. Staff were plesant and helpful but couldn't make up for the complete lack of maintenance and refurbishment.

1️⃣ Misrepresentation of the room
The room provided did not resemble a suite. It lacked a suite layout, had no seating area or table, and had no balcony

2️⃣ Strong damp / musty smell from hot tub
The hot tub caused an unpleasant damp smell throughout the room. Ventilating the room was extremely difficult due to the limited window and excessive street noise outside.

3️⃣ Advertised soundproofing is false
Your website promises soundproof rooms, yet we experienced:
* Loud music from outside late into the night and repeated disturbances meant we struggled to sleep every night.

4️⃣ Wi-Fi and TV features not working
There was **no functioning Wi-Fi** during our stay — neither for the TV nor for our personal devices. When queried, reception simply replied: *“It doesn’t work.”*
This is unacceptable for a hotel promoting modern, connected rooms.

5️⃣ Misleading minibar setup
Snacks and alcohol were placed next to complimentary items with **no price list provided**, making them appear free. This felt deceptive and designed to catch guests out.

6️⃣ Intimidating penalty policy
We were issued two key / towel cards and later discovered the €50 per card replacement fee in fine print. This created unnecessary stress to protect the cards we didn’t need and felt like a hidden charge tactic.

7️⃣ Maintenance & quality issues
* Very cracked worn out sink
*The “iPad” advertised in room is simply a phone extension with no internet functionality

10/10 would not stay at this hotel again.
Do not book here if you want to sleep before 5am. Bars all around hotel, so very noisy. Rooms are not sound proof for outside noise or hallways.
Jaccuzi bedroom smelled weird, like mold or feet. Poor ventilation.
Don't book below floor 5 for a better sea view vs floodlights (directly into bedroom) and roofs.
Bed lvls didn't match for king bed. Lumpy pillows.
Expensive mini bar.
Most of the staff was very nice.
Rooftop pool was great.
2 nights end of season was $700ish. Not impressed for that price.

Regardless of age and time of year, the immediate area is a little edgy.

However, going in Nov, expecting the areas USP, it is less busy although not quite by any means. It’s an adult hotel and area.

Room was unique and distance was walkable or ‘bootable’. Impressive range of cuisines, spa tipped the balance to make this … an embraceable it is what it is and we enjoyed it. (Not we are 35-45).

Absolutley loved this hotel. Very clean and all the staff were very friendly. Room was gorgeous, spotless and had a well stocked mini bar, bathrobes and slippers. We had a room with a jacuzzi tub which worked perfectly and overlooked a bay view. The sister hotel was also amazing, and we tried a few Hugo restaurants which were also 10/10, especially the pan Asian one! Area is VERY busy, and is quite loud at night but our room had good soundproofing on the windows which kept most of the night out. Hotel is a few minutes from the beach, bars, restaurants and shops. Only downfall was the infinity pool wasn't in use, so you had to you the sister hotels. We tried every day but couldn't get a sunbed or comfy seat at the other pool. Overall I would recommend and would likely stay again if I return. Perfect location!

The hotel was modern, clean and stylish, and the staff were helpful and even let me check in early.

Breakfast requires a walk to another hotel so I’m glad I hadn’t paid extra for this.

The pictures on Expedia show a lovely rooftop pool and bar but I on booking I was sent an email to say that this was shut.

Unfortunately it’s in a very bad location next to booming nightclubs and drunk party goers. My room view was of the loud nightclub directly opposite.

Despite extensive soundproofing I was kept up every night by the noisy drunks and pounding bass lines to the early morning. I barely got any sleep.

The downstairs bar was also very loud, so no chance of a relaxing evening drink there.

As a result I avoided the hotel and surrounding area to get away from all the noise and drunks.

Luckily the rest of Malta is really lovely so managed to have a nice time apart from that.

I enjoyed the hotel and the lounge!! The bed was comfortable and the shower was relaxing. Unfortunately, I saw a few bugs in the bathroom when I showered. Also, there isn’t a DND sign so housekeeping woke me up daily.

The hotel was good and so were the staff, apart from when we asked for extra soap, shower gel and bath mat which we had to ask for a couple of times. We recommend dining in the hotel.
The area around the hotel is very noisy due to the nightclubs and not pleasant to see drug dealers openly selling drugs.

The hotel was very nice my room was amazing with jacuzzi and balcony views of the beach etc.
All staff I met were friendly, especially the pool guys they were having a laugh with my husband and I.
Overall the hotel facilities were very good and clean. (However I would recommend hand wash/dispensers) but I always come prepared with my own.
The location is perfect, everything a stone throughway.
I’m definitely coming back and staying longer.
Oh night life was gooood too! No trouble just lively.

If you want to sleep then don’t go here

Sadly due to the nightclubs around the hotel it is nearly impossible to sleep. Constant bass can be heard til around 4am.

They say the room are double glazed but it makes no difference

The hotel is otherwise good but the lack of sleep was a big issue

I’d recommend to stay at the Hugo next door. This hotel has windows coming out on the busiest street in st Julian’s if you don’t mind loud parties by your window until 4 am I’d say it’s a perfect hotel… but I wish I knew it earlier as I came back from my holiday tired.
The stuff was great and helpful, breakfast was just ok.

The hotel was superb, the staff were amazing, very accommodating. The breakfast had the usual cooked breakfast, cereals, fruit, cold meat, toast, cakes and pastries. Can't fault the hotel at all, rooms very spacious and clean. Unfortunately, the hotel was in a nightclub district, although the rooms where triple glazed the noise carried on till 4am! Ear plugs advised. No fault of the hotel, should have researched before booking.

If you want some rest - don’t stay

If your aim is to party all night, this hotel is perfect for you. If you planned for anything else than partying all night, then choose a different hotel. It’s a complex of two hotels with several restaurants. The actual night clubs are in the hotel building, so every time I woke up in the middle of the night, I could hear the music. You can’t actually open the windows, as I think they tried to sound proof it (failing miserably) and you can’t open it. The hotel has a dark decor, combined with lack of outside air, makes it super depressing. I guess that’s a small positive - the hotel forses you to be out most of the time. Hugo’s complex except of making it clear that it’s an adult only hotel, doesn’t make any reference how disturbing it is at night. When checking out and said it, the reply I got - yes it is loud. If everyone is in acceptance of that, Hugo! make it clear on your website not to mislead people!
The service - the staff is probably most suited to handle the targeted clientele - drunken people in their 20s and 30s, as the attitude of the service and everything about it, is to get you in and get you out.
Coffee maker in the room indeed, but also designated to make tea out of?
Your card will be charged 150 euros for possible damages, again - adjustment for the targeted clientele.
I was lucky in a sense that I needed the hotel to sleep only, so was out most of the day, the unlucky part - the sleep what I needed it for I didn’t get.

The Taxi that was ordered through the Hotel (from airport to the hotel) dropped us off at the wrong location. The whirlpool in our room was not working properly ( no bubbles) it was suuuuupeer loud until 3-4 AM! The TV was not functioning properly and even after exchanging batteries it wouldn’t work only standing up right in front of it! Water pressure over the weekend in the shower was less than satisfying.

Hotel rooms are spacious and clean. Excellent Breakfast and staff are friendly and go out of there way to accommodate your needs. Raj at the Infinity Pool was very friendly and professional, excellent cocktail maker especially Mojitos.

The mixer of international guests are French, German, Italian and British. They had two main events in the evenings near the roof top terrace bar and pool. These were a white party and pool party.

The DJs play good mixer of music and it's very relaxing during the day when you want to just relax near the pool and bar.

The hotel is, as other reviews indicate, right in the middle of the party area. However, the rooms were well sound proofed. I'm a very light sleeper and was not kept awake by the hustle and bustle.
The staff were exceptionally friendly, particularly the bar staff - Alex, William and Alphonse!
The hotel décor is...unique and entertaining.
The rooms were spacious, and clean.
The rooftop pool/bar is lovely, but busy. And a little on the young side (we are mid-30s).
The hotel bar always seemed quiet in comparison to those around. But that suited us just fine! It was one of the few that had AC.

Very friendly staff and management, made us feel very welcome. The hotel is in the heart of the nightclub strip so streets are busy and a lot of suspect characters around until early hours of the morning. The room was very sound proof given the proximity to the clubs. The pool is actually shared with the sister hotel, not many sun loungers given the number of guests between both hotels. The biggest downside was the daily pool parties from 2pm, music was blaring and it was mainly non guests who paid in for the day adding to the number of people using the pool. It wasn't a relaxing experience. Would recommend the hotel but probably more suited to group of friends rather than couples looking for a romantic getaway.

Impossible to stop the pounding bass from clubs

The worst hotel I’ve ever stayed at in my life. In the middle of the nightclub district with its own in the building. The pounding of the bass is so insane it should be illegal. 5 floors up and the bed vibrates from the music and base. Double windows with airlock can’t stop the sound. Lasts til 5am every single night 7 days a week. Never stay here if you want to actually sleep or have peace of mind. NEVER. Even their own nigthclub on ground floor vibrates up into the 4th floor. No disclaimers no warnings nothing. 0 star.

It was a superb hotel, great location, wonderful view, staff is extremely helpful. There were some issues with the room though, air-condition did not seem to operate properly and some of the electric switches are not properly aligned (buttons are mixed up). There was a dispute in regards to robes, which were delivered torn up and we were asked to pay for them. However we managed to resolve the problem, despite this being a bother.

Overall we enjoyed the stay and would look to going again.

Design is interesting but very unpractical. No place to hang towels, very small closet space, no soap dish. Shampoo and conditioner and soap had strong smell but low quality. Annoying that the TV comes on every time you enter the room. Area is very noisy, but soundproof windows helped. The breakfast was very limited for a 4* hotel! The rooftop pool was closed every day even with good weather. The indoor pool and sauna steamroll area closes at 6pm. Area is a big party place, not a quaint spot to be found at night.

The Boutique Hotel is closed so we were accommodated in the nearby chain hotel. We were told that we are upgraded to a better room as the Boutique hotel is more expensive. But the room had yard view and it was really noisy there due to construction. It was really annoying. I really prefer fresh air instead of noisy unhealthy A/C which you can't even switch off.

The staff at this hotel were amazing. My mistake in booking a hotel right in the heart of Paceville as it is loud and is pitched at the young who want to party. In saying this the hotel did their very best to accommodate me in a quieter room which I was very grateful for. Overall I had a wonderful stay and the staff were amazing. What can be improved upon is furnishing on the ground level need updating and some of the chairs in the rooms. Hotel pool is shared with the Hugo Hotel so that mean you have a total of 40 rooms at the boutique Hugo hotel and roughly 150 from the Hugo hotel which can use the small pool. You need to get there early if you want a day bed as there are limited spots,

Lovely hotel but in the wrong location. Based right in the heart of the clubs so simply way too loud at night and not nice to step out into the street with broken glass etc. That aside, the room was lovely, very clean and comfortable. The staff for the most part were great and very accommodating.

Overall the hotel has got good design, clean, staff is super friendly and breakfast is ok.
However it is situated in the main night out area which means very noisy including in side the bedroom, which stopped us from sleeping.
We did complain and at the beginning the communication was not very clear and reliable. But afterwards the problem was dealt in a sense that we got refund and had to find a different place to stay. If you want a quiet room and relax, avoid st Julian bay. It’s dirty, noisy and full of teenagers getting drunk. Not a good location at all.

Our room had no balcony & when we came back to the hotel especially in the evening it would have been nice if we could sit quietly on the veranda on the first floor where we had our breakfast most mornings.
One night the staff allowed us to do this which was lovely but another night it was disallowed. We were doing no harm!!!
We were older than most of the guests & we found the roof top very noisy with thumping music.

From the feed back at booking and our smooth early check in, we cannot fault the service at the hotel. Its a shame that the interactive TV didn't work with our phones nor was it fully implemented so you couldn't see your bill etc. For breakfast there was an amazing choice of Buffet. The only downside is the location. Numerous Night clubs and Gentlemen's Clubs with the associated noise going past 5am. Perfect if you plan to sleep all day and party all night. Unfortunately that is no longer our ideal holiday.

The staff are very helpful and friendly. Hotel is very modern and well serviced. Located in a party area, but we didn’t mind that. My only negatives are that the cleaners came round at 8.30am every morning, including weekends and that everything is operated by a gadget/switch, including the ‘do not disturb’ sign and curtains, but no instructions were given to us to explain this, so inevitably the first morning (which was a Saturday) we were woken by the cleaners at 8.30am and we ended up spending a lot of time pressing buttons to get something to work! However, saying all that, it is a fab hotel, well located, with an amazing whiskey bar. I would totally recommend it.

It was great, the hotel rooms were lovely and staff were very helpful. The USB slots in my room did not work so they moved me into another room which was just as lovely. The location is ideal for good food and drinks and also partying. The hotel many restaurants was also really nice. Overall I enjoyed my stay.

The staff at the reception, the bar as well as at the breakfast room were all friendly. The room was clean and spacious, though I had expected a more classy interior. from a boutique place. The hotel looks like it had been styled by Ed Hardy or \"Die Geissens\" but I also must say that they made a big effort to digitize everything: lights, curtains, room temperature, Do Not Disturb, House Keeping could all be activated by the respective button. Unfortunately, the hotel is located in the middle of the entertainment rather than the business district as Google Maps suggested to me, so it was extremely busy and loud at nights - not for people who have trouble falling asleep or sleeping throughout the night. Personally, I would not go back but I think I would recommend it for a group of friends who want to party. I booked this because it was an adult-only place: I can confirm that I had not seen a single minor here but plenty of adult people behaving like minors at night.

Me and my husband stayed only for 1 night and we enjoyed our stay.
The room was standard,but had the expresso machine,mini bar, iron and hairdryer.
We where also given 2 bottles of water complimentary.
The room was on the 7th floor and we did'nt heard any noise from outside.
Bed was comfortable and the room had everything that one can expect.
The breakfast was fresh and tasty.
The only thing that couples has to consider is that the hotel is in the middle of many night clubs and bars.so during the weekends there will be more noise and many people out side the hotel.
Last thing ,I want to thank all the the people that work in this hotel which all gave us a very good service, most of all the maltese receptionist which was duty on tuesday. evening.

Convenient location , noisy at night because it is next to a lot of bars and clubs. Not being a light sleeper and being on the 6th floor meant it wasn’t a major issue for us but it could be.
Can stroll from here to Spinola Bay and Sliema if you like a nice walk.
I would be happy to stay here again.

Great hotels for couples

the hotel is quite amazing in terms of design, service and basically overall. the only thing that was an issue is the concept of the hotel that is more suitable for couple and not for business colleagues, as the bathroom doesnt have a real door and it transparent to the bedroom. so keep in mind if u r planning to share a room with someone that is can be a problem.

The hotel has a nice appeal, but room was small, the overhead shower did not work, had to use only the hand sprayer. Room service wasnt great, small menu and very time limited. But there was many bars and clubs around the area, so if you are looking for night life, its in a good location.

This hotel and the staff was one of the best we have stayed in acroos the world. We could not fault the room and the free upgrade! the staff went out of their way to make us welcome.The food and drinks are amazing at afortable prices. The locstion is great and we had no problems with noise from the local patrons. But we did party with them ( why not when your on holidays).

If you're coming to St. Julian's to party, then this is the right place to stay - but as a business traveller make sure you stay as high up as you can, facing away from the hustle and bustle of the night life otherwise you'll need some very good noise-cancelling headphones to be able to sleep.

4 Days In Hugo's

We stayed 4 nights in Hugo's in September when the season was quieting down but still a lot going on. On arrival our room was available early. Nice and straightforward at reception, friendly efficient staff. Our room was clean, a decent size and comfortable and had everything we might need. We had a good view down to the harbour. AC worked very well. One minor issue was the sliding shower door had been mounted the wrong way round so care was needed to avoid flooding the bathroom floor. Breakfast was buffet style and had a pretty decent selection and if you wanted there was an a la carte option but we didn't feel the need for it. One of the best points was the pool on the hotel roof. Really lovely location, great views and really excellent staff looking after us. The hotel is pretty trendy which isn't exactly my taste but was not negative in any way - quite fun really!
I saw a few complaints about noise - yes the hotel is very near to a street with severl clubs on it and there was some noise, but from our room is was pretty minimal and didn't impact my sleep.
Overall we had a great time and would happily stay here again.

Best hotel we stayed at!!

Omg! I loved this hotel soo much! I miss it aleady 😞 even though our room was a standard room but it was just amazing, I can’t even imagin how the luxury rooms would be like. controlled curtains, lights, mirror on top of the bed, Expresso machine, iron board and tablet to use . The decor was to die for, one of the best hotel we stayed at!!

Different hotel than expected

Very Nice staff , great drinks /cocktails but very very noisy hotel in a grotty run down sleazy area . The area Suits party animals that do not need to sleep until 6:00 am .ok if it suits your needs . Rooms could be spruced up and cleaner .If under 25 years ok , over 25 don’t stay here.

Amazing hotel!

The hotel itself was amazing! The rooms are very large and modern! Breakfast everyday was also very good and the pool area is amazing. The only negitive was the noise that comes from the streets below! The music from the surrounding clubs and bars is very loud and can be heard until early in the morning each day.

Friendly staff, close to the beach and comfortable

The hotel staff were attentive and helpful without overdoing it, which is a huge plus for us. The room is huge and the bed were comfortable, the standard amenities given were also good. Unfortunately the other half of the hotel is still under construction, so some part of it still unavailable or hard to access. Great location, near the beach, restaurants, bar and all the clubs. The double glass windows also keeps all noise to very very minimal. The hotel lobby is a bit hard to access because it is on kind of walking only zone which after 3 days we are still not sure. At night, no car can enter and in the morning the street becomes a loading dock for supplies and in between some cars are seen.

Pro: Best location for party people. Right next to the clubs and discos. Right on the Bay. Bus stop in all directions only a few minutes away. New hotel. Exclusive design. Huge corner room. With mirror over the bed. Nice rooftop pool with bar. Good breakfast with quality products. Attentive employees. We felt very comfortable in the hotel.

Cons: Construction work is going on all over the bay. Despite very good soundproofing it was very noisy at night. The whole room (lower floor) has shaken from the noise of discos. My advice - ask for a room in the upper floors.

This hotel was full of promise, close to the beach, rooftop pool etc. We booked a suite as part of our honeymoon trip to Malta but were totally disappointed by this hotel. The decor is cheap and tacky and the view overlooking the building site is not really ideal. The fact that builders were right opposite us working on the hotel as its not actually finished was disappointing. The location means that whilst it is close to the beach and a 10 minute walk from the harbour the adverts neglect to tell you the hotel is surrounded by strip clubs (not really what we were looking for on our honeymoon). Would I visit again...no, would I recommend it to friends...unfortauntely not.

Fantastic holiday!

Amazing hotel. It is in a busy party strip but this didn’t bother us at all, it was fun and the roof top pool is fab! If you want luxury stay here.
