Absolutely clean rooms , Helpful staff that are Always ready to help in any situation

Breakfast is plentiful and restocked every morning, a mixture of continental breakfast and with local delicacies.

The hotel has 2 pools: one in the roof top and then one in the bottom floor with a jacuzzi included

The location was perfect as it’s only 3 minutes walk to Paceville town center.

Room size also spacious and clean it could have easily been a 5 star review but I spent 7 nights and I was waken up 6 mornings at 8:30am by loud noise of furnitures pulling across the floor above my room.

I wanted to use the telephone the 2nd morning to advise the front desk of the issue but no clear instructions of what number to dial for front desk.

I reported it to the front desk it was only the last morning I didn’t hear the noise.

Everything else was fantastic I will definitely book again.

Would not stay here again

Cons. The room was moldy to extent that it irritated my respiratory system with sneezing and coughing. There were no power outlets next to the bed. I did not have hot water for shower.

Pro. Good location and view of sea. The air conditioning worked well and the bed was comfortable.

The property has nice modern lobby, however rooms are very out of date.

Having stayed there before we knew it was a superb hotel. This time we got a room upgrade to a corner suite with fantastic views and it was the last word. The hotel is in a great location close to the nightlife of St. Julians but far enough away for a quiet night. The rooftop pool is really good with plenty of sunbeds available and a shaded bar.

Beautiful upgraded rooms.

Beautiful newly redecorated rooms, gone are the old mattresses replaced by a high class super comfortable one! I slept like a baby. Quick and smooth check in, lovely reception staff who changed my room when I requested one by the lift having forgotten to request this when booking. A home from home for me which keeps getting better.

Not exactly what we were expecting for a 4* hotel! We booked a well appointed and spacious suite with balcony and ocean views. Unfortunately there was no furniture on the balcony nor was it permitted to place any furniture outside - what a waste of a balcony!!
Whilst the area of Paceville provided a huge range of eateries, the area didn’t feel particularly safe at night. A lot of road works and road closures close to the hotel didn’t help either.
On the plus side, regular bus services ran from just outside the hotel, including the “hop on - hop off” tour buses. Taxis and Ubers very reasonably priced.

This hotel needs urget attention rooms we not cleaned the first 2 days when we asked about this we were met with a very aggressive reception. Pool had mould growing around the tiles badly. No chairs or tables on the large balcony again when we asked we were told this is the way they are although their website states they do heve them on their balconies. Manager spent most days out the front of their bar smoking. Food really needs a revamp not great at all. Sad as the front and foyer wete deceiving

The stay here was the second part of a 17 day holiday in Gozo and Malta. On arrival we were allocated our room 404, it is advertised a superior room (that is in size only)!. It overlooked the sea as requested. Within 2 hours it became quite obvious that building work was being carried out very very closely. We reported the noise to the reception desk on our way out to find something to eat. The receptionist told us no work was being carried out! Went to bed, at 6.30am a hammer drill and banging again, a phone call to an irate receptionist \"educated me\" it was nothing to do with the hotel but she would ask security to look into it. At the end of the 3rd day we went to the reception again and was told nothing had been reported. We eventually spoke to a manager who was both rude and curt and in denial that it was a problem of the Hotels making, however it became clear that the hotel are aware of the noise but legally they cant stop the work from taking place from 8am - Clearly not doing their job, they could involve the police to stop the noise before 8am they just don't. Any way after 3 days we were moved a little further away but the noise was still obvious and still commenced at 6.30.
There was no air conditioning in the restaurant or common room areas, the indoor pool was closed for 5 days of our stay and the roof top \"paddling pool\" was closed for one day. The heat in the dining room at breakfast was unbearable.
Rooms clean and house keeping good.
The food was edible.

The staff in the dining room were nice.,The desk staff did not pass on my complsintd to the manager, my room door was left open after the cleaner emptied our bin even though i told her not to enter our room and put do not dusturb sign which i took from her. I fail off the chair on the foyer as it moved back when i tried to get up due to slippery tile. I mentioned it all to the manager on my last night and he said that nobody said a thing to him.That was bad as i landed on my knee and 2 men lifted me off the floor.

Great location, easy access for walks, shopping, restaurants and to get the bus. A little noisy Friday and Saturday nights but once the balcony door was shut it was ok. Just unable to have the door open and hear the TV!
Breakfast was great every day, loved the dining room and the staff were very nice and attentive.
Lobby was spacious and relaxing. I didn't use the indoor pool and.the outdoor pool was still closed but good amenities to have.
Room was spacious and loved my sea view despite the work being done over the road. Liked having the refrigerator and being able to cast my apps to the TV was a bonus. Good bath/shower although controlling the water temp could be tricky.
Biggest downside for me was lack of a fan or a/c as the room got incredibly stuffy and was difficult to sleep some nights. As a female solo traveller I would never sleep with the balcony door open (as suggested by the gentleman at the front desk) so even a ceiling fan or stand up fan would have been appreciated.
Would definitely come back and would recommend to others.

We stayed in room 610 and the view is excellent and spacious. Unfortunately we noticed serious mould on the walls by both doors. Mentioned it to staff at reception and was told casually and dismissively that mould is a normal issue in Malta and we have to live with it. I was shocked at the response because of the possible effect on our health particularly someone that is asthmatic. We have decided that we will not use the hotel again.

The was only water on the first day, no cattle, teat or coffee at all.
This is a 4 star facility and it shoul have the basics.
Asked for the breakfast box to be ready for pick up at 6:30 before leaving hotel to the airport. Placed the order previous day early in the morning. Unfortunately nothing was prepared. Not even any apology from the staff for that.

We had a great stay at Golden Tulip - like other reviews hotel is a little dated but not so bad. Breakfast had everything you could wish for including a great omelette / egg station. We spent most mornings watching people take more than they could possibly eat which is a shame and also a lot of people making sandwiches and popping them in their bags . That’s just dirty ! Not the hotels fault just greedy people . We had a lovely suite but sadly no chairs or table on the massive balcony . I asked what looked like the head lady on reception she didn’t seem too keen to help when I asked for some chairs out there and she told me to drag the leather chair from the room outside - there is no way I would leave a leather chair in the sun. So I went back later and got a more helpful younger person who called someone and within 10 mins we had some chairs. Roof top pool was nice but be warned it’s the coldest pool I have ever been in . Surprised peoples hearts don’t stop when they get in - but it was nice and clean just way too cold. Housekeeping was fab and our room was cleaned really well . Everything you need for a great holiday - just bypass the chief on reception because the younger staff way more helpful. Thank you Golden Tulip

Booked a superior room with sea view and balcony, idea being sit on balcony and enjoy sea view. Big balcony but no furniture on it and none on those around us.Told by management that they had removed balcony furniture and were waiting for new to arrive. What sort of management would make that decision and leave customers with no furniture. After nearly two days they managed to supply two white plastic chairs for us to use, nothing given to rooms around us.

Not enough loungers around pool either.

Could not put bill for bar and restaurant on the room as they were not on the hotel account, not informed of this when booking in.

Good breakfast although very busy at peak time, staff here very good. Good size room but needed sprucing up. Bed very comfortable and room very quiet.

St Julian’s Golden Tulip

Good comfort for 2 nights, very close to centre of St Julian’s and party areas.
Room was very clean, albeit a bit outdated, but comfortable feel.
Bed was comfortable and air conditioning worked well in the heat. Fridge didn’t work too well, but overall a good room.
In the breakfast buffet, staff weren’t too friendly in clearing the tables, not enough cutlery on the table, no basic salt and pepper shakers.
May need to improve a little on softer side of things.
Overall, I’d visit again.
However, doesn’t match up to the name golden, as it is missing it’s shining feature which can be improved.
In these tough times, they will get through and come back stronger.

I would avoid at all cost. The aircon didn’t work properly. We booked 3 rooms in the same name and they refused to put the rooms next to each other despite booking them well in advance and making a note they needed to be next to me eachother. After constant begging over 2 days, they eventually put us on on the same floor. The staff are very rude. Aircon was awful and doesn’t work properly in 2 of 3 rooms. WiFi is awful and switches off every 15 minutes. Key cards for rooms were very temperamental. They had to change the battery in the lock twice.

Only positive thing I can say is the cleaners were good and were tge only people that knew what they were doing.

Otherwise avoid this hotel at all costs. You’re better off staying in a hostel as this is not a 4* hotel!

Hotels.com firstly came to the rescue as wasn’t sure if we had a seaview lateral or normal, hotel was adamant it was lateral. Hotels.com quickly got on the case & it was seaview!! Nice balcony also, certainly worth getting them rooms, after that, lovely stay! Has everything you want! Even a omelette chef at breakfast. Wasn’t noisy either, we were on the 6th floor though. So a very nice stay all round in end, aircon was temperamental & only got it to work on the last day, but never mentioned, so thats on me.

A reasonable stay in a central location

We stayed at the Golden tulip Vivaldi hotel for 5 nights. The reservation and confirmation specifically stated a room with a sea view. Only when getting the room we noticed the view was of another building and not the sea. When approached the reception desk we were told that we got \"lateral sea view\" and were referred to Hotels for further service. The next day we noticed a change in the room description on the Hotels app.

Awesome location

This hotel is in a great location in St Julian near shops, restaurants etc. My room had a beautiful view of the sea and spacious. Bus stop to Valletta is only a 5mn walk and 1.50 euros each way. You can also take bus to Mdina for the same cost. We had issues with our room but the manager changed our room, although still not perfect it was manageable and the manager (Ottoman is his name I think) is super nice and helpful. Overall I highly recommend this hotel.

Poor communication / no room despite booking

We arrived late (10 pm) at the Golden Tulip in St. Julian’s with our two children (3&6 y.) and were told at check-in (!), that they over booked the hotel so they had to transfer us to another near by hotel (600m away). I was really cross, as they were aware that we were travelling as a family and they had all my details so could have contacted me before. I did tell the three people behind reception that it was really poor communication and after arriving at the other hotel, they did know, that we were coming, but still hadn’t received written approval from the originally booked hotel. This caused further delay, so over all very disappointing.

Had an issue with some random guy just walking into my room with the door shut so that sucked. Also the fridge didn’t work after numerous attempts to get it fixed replaced. My gf finally just moved it to another outlet and it kind of worked. Parking was convenient but a bit pricey at 8 euro a night, 5 would be more reasonable. Room and everything else about it was nice. Didn’t use the hotel for another else, most spent time siteseeing.

My stay was just right for me. Staff, waiters, receptionists etc were all very friendly & helpful. My room was nice, spacious & clean. The only issue there was (which wasn't that big a deal for me) was the fact that the wardrobe doors didn't slide open for storage. Since I packed light I wasn't too fussed. Toilet was clean, plenty of day light entering the room via big windows. Overall a pleasant stay.

We bookee this hotel last minute after checking out of a different hotel early to it being horrific. This hotel was an absolute pleasure in comparison! It wasnt as close to the bars and restaurants but still only a 5 min walk but it had its own lovely restuarant with amazing views and the buffet breakfast was well worth the money. The room had a bed bigger than a king size which wqs comfy, the room was a good temperature (as the last hotel we left was freezing). Bathroom had a shower and a bath which is always a plus. The elevators were in perfect working order and very quick. Rooms and the hotel were cleaned regularly and bottles of water were offered. The only downside if having to rent towels with a deposit for the pool area which was a bit of messing about and for most of our stay the jacuzzi was out of order but it did get fixed towards the end, unfortunately the sauna was out of order for our entire stay so we did not get use this. Overall though lovely hotel and would stay again, pregerably in Summer to use the rooftop facilities as the pool and view looked lovely.

Nice hotel but hidden fees and lack of cleanliness

I was excited to stay at this hotel however was quite disappointed with the service and things not been made clear on the website. Firstly I emailed the hotel twice before arrival asking if they offered airport transfers & to make sure I got 2 twin beds - I got no response.

On arrival at 1am we were told that although we had booked a twin room there was a charge for a second person. I tried to reason that I was never given an option for 2 people when booking & showed the receptionist the Hotels.com website and another booking website, but they still would not budge. Feeling vulnerable at that time of morning we paid the additional €105.

There were also issues in the room. The beds were very uncomfortable & the bedding was clearly dirty and smelly. I asked multiple times for clean bedding and each occasion there was items missing, such as covers or pillow cases. Housekeeping also left our door wide open on one occasion whilst we were out all day.

The fridge did also not work, which was not fixed during our stay.
We were also told that breakfast was included however when we went the next morning we were told it wasn't & charged €9 each. Glad we only paid this for one day as the food was terrible with very minimal choice and what was available was cold.
The spa and indoor pool was also closed and the rooftop pool was no where near the size as shown in the photos.

Positives: the bathroom was nice & modern with amble toiletries and the balcony was spacious with good views.

Only negative point was the lack of free parking for guests. Hotel has a parking bay underneath hotel but guests need to pay full price to use, not even discounted.

The perfect hotel that just needs a refresh

The service was excellent from the beginning and when there was a problem with finding my booking reference, the front desk staff tried their best to find it - and they did after a few minutes. The breakfast was also another highlight of our stay here, with a chef waiting to cook different kinds of eggs and waffles right in front of you. This was alongside an impressive buffet spread that included a cooked breakfast and a more continental breakfast for those wanting something a bit lighter.

The pool was fantastic and was a great way to relax after a long day walking. - easily done because the hotel is right in the middle of town but off to the side to get away from the noise. The only negative I have is that the furnishings and decor are a little outdated in the hotel and are very much in keeping with an 80s style. Everything else was fantastic!

It was ok, the room had been painted recently and really smelled strongly of paint. The bathroom was a bit grotty and the phone outside the room started incessantly ringing at 8am for almost a half hour waking me up.

first it took us more than 20 minute to check in, we asked to change room with no carpets one and was so fast and was acceptable, rooms clean, breakfast was rich but was so busy and people were waiting for empty table, location was service by bus from 2 sides.
so after all was very good value for money. thanks to staff and management.

Great stay at this hotel. Friendly very helpful staff. Clean and tidy hotel. Good selection for breakfast. My only gripe was the bed was too soft for me personally. But that wouldn’t put me off booking again.

Recetionist awful on check in and check out. We were not given any information at all on check in regarding brreakfast times etc and no card gurantee was taken so we couldnt charge drinks back to the room. No information at all in the room. No tea or coffee even tho there was a kettle and cups

A nice stay turned into a bad memory by one staff

Horrible member of management spoilt the whole stay during check-in what could otherwise be a reasonable stay at an acceptable hotel. The upper management should protect their investment. Other members of staff were apolegetic to me afterwards when this \".....\" person was not in his working hours. In another site where I left a review, he totally twisted facts and fabricated an alternative truth.
Other than that rooms are small, outdated, but clean with basic comforts, with an acceptable breakfast buffet and large public spaces. I almost always book a standard room but at this hotel you get a room reserved for groups, airline crews if any. It didn't matter as we did not spend anytime in the room, but book a class higher if you intend to spend time in this hotel, avoid the disturbed person in the front office.

The restaurant was very good. The staff were very helpful, the only issue was the shower screen was positioned outside the bath which meant the floor became very wet and slippery room 316. Overall a very enjoyable stay.
