We had a lovely time staying here. The staff are amazing specially the breakfast staff. Saviour and the team are wonderful kind and helpful. Our room had everything we needed and was really comfortable. The location is great, lots of shops, bars and restaurants to choose from and easy access to get around Malta.

The staff interaction was very good, breakfast was healthy, but noise and music from neighbouring properties made sleeping uncomfortable and annoying. We moved from the fourth to the sixth floor, but still could not go off to sleep until 3:00-4:00 am.

Basic hotel but outstanding as such. Lovely breakfast included- cooked full English and continental - grab bags available if you want take breakfast out. Room clean , beds comfy. Can be a little noisy late on an evening due to the nightclubs surrounding the area of hotel- but not too bothersome. Good location to bus routes and several places walkable. Plenty of dining options. Would definately recommend .

Despite specific request for a quiet room and a high floor to escape the noise, plus requesting a double bed and paying extra for it, unfortunately upon my arrival, i was given the complete opposite of my requests, a room on the second floor which was extremely noisy, and a room with 2 twin beds . And the member of staff lying to me several times saying that was the only avaliable room in the hotel, i later found out this was not true.

September 2025 - A great stay

Our stay at the Holiday Inn Express at St Julians Malta was excellent . Room was a great size and very clean. Good facilities including teas and coffee, iron and ironing board and hair dryer. Toiletries were also good. Room had a small balcony. Breakfast was very good and there was plenty of choice including hot and cold options. Service was very friendly and helpful. The hotel is in a very busy noisy part of town but the double glazing was excellent at reducing any noise.

Cleanliness not a problem. Taxi arranged to airport upon arrival (3:00 AM departure). At 3 AM no taxi. had to scramble to get ride.
Noise from outside activities very loud - until 2 AM. Tough to sleep.
Air flow from heater/cooler aimed directly at bed - not comfortable.

This is one of the best 3 star hotels I've stayed in, it feels more like a 4 star in terms of the facilities and amenities that are available, the extremely welcoming staff, the cleanliness and space of the rooms and the area in which it is located.

Holiday Inn Express is a part of the IHG Group, and connected to this hotel is the 5 star IHG InterContinental which is accessible via the first floor, and for a small fee, you can access their facilities which includes an indoor pool, spa and wellness centre, as well as an outdoor sky pool and bar.

The area around the hotel, although quite noisy at night known as Paceville, has a wide variety of clubs, bars and pubs with a great deal of dining options, whilst the street on which the hotel is situated also houses one of the island's only cinemas as well as one of the best shopping complexes, making it extremely ideal for anyone that doesn't want to venture very far.

The room itself was well-kitted out, and the TV (although without smart functionality) had a wide variety of European TV channels. The breakfast included at the hotel was also lovely and featured an outdoor seated terrace, while the food provided was quite nice.

Overall, if you're looking for an affordable, yet cozy hotel in a great location and some great amenities, I would highly recommend this place.

Its most horrible stay I had in Malta for past ten years. The did not even provide water. When I asked for refilling they said breakfast time is over they cannot provide any water. How come hotel do not allow to refill water any time. Staff is very rude and honestly do not recommend any one to stay here. Also their reception is on 8th Floor which is wierd.

Great value for money out of season

Very nice, light, airy, modern rooms - at the back very quiet and at the front not too noisy at all. I had one week in each location. Comfortable chair and table in the room, but the bathroom is a bit cramped. Very personable, helpful and committed staff. Good (and well priced) bar and room service menus, and an excellent breakfast with lots of choice (a hallmark of HIE). In February/March excellent value for money (EUR 65/75 a night B&B at the back/front including EUR 5 for fridge) - but looking forward to June/July for a follow up visit, the rate more than triples to nearly EUR 200 a night!

Holidaying with family and stayed at the hotel for 4 nights. Very happy with everything about this hotel including the access to a freat gym, indoor pool and spa. The rooms were very clean and had everything you would need. The breakfast was excellent, very tasty and great range of options. The location was fantastic with easy access to transport, shops, beaches and restaurants. The staff, including reception, kitchen staff and the cleaners were brilliant, very friendly,polite and helpful.

Extremely good value for money for the time of year away from peak season.

Had concerns about noise in the area but the double balcony doors provided very good noise insulation as did the white noise from AC so wasn’t an issue.

Staff very friendly and professional, especially Gvantsa whom I made a point of noting her name down as she was so very helpful and friendly.

As part of the IHG group you could use facilities next door and order intercontinental room service which was a big plus which could be delivered to either room or ninth floor restaurant area/terrace.

Room was clean and functional and only improvement would be a small fridge but appreciate for price point and rating this isn’t standard but could be offered for some rooms with option to pay extra etc.

There is construction work in the area but didn’t cause us any issues but to be aware of. We had a number of excursions booked that picked us up here because it’s a main location and it was also handy for Ubers as well as bus. Lots of shops nearby and you can walk along promenade for few hours to other major hubs easily.

Stayed here for a week, the staff are all extremely helpful, breakfast is excellent, Mario, one of the waiters, is a credit to the hotel, cleanliness is exceptional. The only downside was the noise from nearby clubs at the weekend, but if you take earplugs you won't find a more comfortable place.

A memorable stay

It was lovely staying in a standard double bedroom with a balcony that offered a partial view of St. George's Bay. The room size was more than enough, and it had all the basic amenities listed in the description. We loved how the housekeeping staff made sure our room was tidy and clean almost every day, except when we asked for privacy.

The only thing we had a slight difficulty with was the shower area. There was no door, and water splashed outside the shower area, but we managed to place the bathroom mat outside the shower area as a makeshift solution.

Breakfast was scrumptious, and we were thrilled to find vegetarian sausages as an alternative to meat. We couldn't resist the fresh and delicious pastries either.

Location-wise, it was perfect for us, even though the area was known for its nightlife and party atmosphere. The rooms had sound-absorbing doors, which meant that we could rest peacefully without being disturbed by any noise from outside, especially at night.

All in all, our stay was fantastic and unforgettable.

Great hotel, facilities and service. However, the fact that ear plugs are left on the bedside table says it all. The hotel is adjacent to THE Paceville nightclub (inc. LGBTQ) scene with very loud music only stopping at 4am. There is also a new Hyatt hotel being built opposite, causing noise and dust, and lots more building around the St Georges Bay area.

Enjoyed my stay at the holiday inn Malta ! The staff that works there is amazing! Had the pleasure in meeting staff member Saviour during breakfast! He is a humble and kind person! Worked hard during the breakfast session cleaning tables and sharing knowledge about Malta and its culture! Restaurant has lovely amenities and is in the perfect location! Rooms are huge and well kept ! Gym is huge as well as the pool ! Hotel is beautiful and extremely large and offers excellent views from the top floor where we checked in ! Fantastic stay and great having use of intercontinental facilities as the gym and pool were excellent. In the middle of all the action but only down side is if you have a balcony room despite double patio doors you can still hear the partying, so maybe get a room in a quieter part of the hotel. Staff were really helpful and although check in was 3pm and i arrived at 10.30 my room was available and also got later check out when I left
