The room was clean and comfortable and the staff were all excellent without exception. The problem for me was the quality of the food. This is supposed to be an upmarket hotel but the food on offer, even in the 'speciality' restaurants, was poor and something I would expect to see in a much lower standard of hotel.

Royal level family is small and has a lovely setting looking out over the sea. Two restaurants within 1mins walk.Lovely pool and nice rooms. The upper floor rooms are accessed via very steep slippery stone steps. No lifts or staff to help with suitcases.

The staff were really nice throughout the resort. The various pool areas are well kept and managed. It is a really well run hotel. The problem at least with Suites in the Royal part is that there is really poor soundproofing so don't expect uninterrupted sleep.

Nice resort and near the beach

The resort it-self is very big and splinted into different levels of stay. We stayed at the Royal level which was very comfortable and included many restaurant entrance to the many available in the resort. There is a large choice of pools and were kept clean every day of use. The only thing I was not please about was the cleaning service, we stayed for 3 nights but the maids did not clean the floors apart from the basic of changing towels if needed and throwing trash away. The cleaning service was very inattentive as I know from the bed making, I came back to find a lump in the middle of the bed, that is because a pillow was there tucked in the bed sheet. The floor had stains and sand, but they did not sweep or clean thought out our stay!

Stayed in the Royal Level Family, this is a quiet area with nice pool and pool bar, not too busy could always get seats. Restaurant for breakfast fast and dinner we use the El Ancla which is in the old lighthouse, lovely food and service and cooked to order big prawns one night. Barceló is a huge resort with 3 hotels as such but done really well and it was a pleasure to stay there, we will go back.

We stayed in Royal level. the food was really excellent with lots of variety. Whilst the main offering was buffet this was backed up with a grill area and chef's who always had a couple of meat and fish specials every night plus a great variety of starters and deserts, etc. Really top class. Service was also very good with little or no real wait time if you wanted a drink or plates cleared.
I felt the lounge area in our suite was a bit sparse in terms of furniture (A double sofa plus table and 3 dining chairs) which sounds ok but the rooms are quite large so one is left feeling that you would want just a little bit more for a true top of the range experience which this could be.
Having said the above I would still absolutely recommend hotel for both families and couple alike. WE found many positives and came away well satisfied with our stay.
Well done to staff who all worked hard and seemed to enjoy being there!

Run down - low focus on cleanliness. Food isn't great. Requests (comb, slippers) ignored. Towels in particularly bad condition. Usage of in-room safe is chargeable (?!). Sockets in bedroom randomly turn off. No VIP recognition or benefit. Overall, very passable.

Go Royal!

Really great service, particularly in Royal areas. Daniel in pool bar was brilliant, Aray and team in El Ancla restaurant too.
Quality of beds and sun beds in Royal was very good and all inclusive was definitely worthwhile due to the amount of Pina Coladas and Magnum ice creams consumed.
Resort was extremely quiet but due to travel limitations.
Beach next to resort was quiet and very safe.
Would definitely stay again.

The best hotel I’ve ever stayed at, in Europe

Nothing short of superb, on every level.
Our Junior Suite 4019 (apartment) is a fantastic size, well equipped, and even a full free mini bar. We have 3 levels of furnished terraces, the top one hosts the hot tub and 2 sun beds, the middle one has 2 sofas the one nearest the doors has a table and 4 chairs. On top of that directly above us we have roof terrace. All of this faces south and looks straight out towards the sea. The buffet dinner was small - a good thing-and offered a superb range of very tasty food.

Our suite was in a beautiful location, a few minutes walk along the street from the main hotel reception and from our buffet restaurant and even closer to the prom close to the marina area. The pool area inside the ‘V’ of our block was gorgeous. We really enjoyed our stay. Our criticisms? Our suite showed a little wear and the night lock on our front door didn’t work. WiFi was slow and worked only intermittently, difficult when we required remote access for work purposes at times, and exterior lighting on steps wasn’t working.

Overall of our family stay is quite good, location is excellent. Breakfast is great, very easy to access to beach. But room facility needs to improve a bit. Sofa bed not steady, no pull-out make up mirror, not enough lighting in our suite. Would recommend to install spot lights into the wardrobe and the entrance.

Having stayed here several times before, I knew what to expect and it never failed me.
However I had to have my key card reset seven times during my stay, which not being the end of the world, was still an inconvenience I didn’t need.
My only black mark is the tiled area surrounding the pool, really needs tidying up as looks very worn n tired:

We arrived slightly early but after checking in we were whisked away to our room, with AI bands in place. Room was large, handy fridge, kettle, microwave, iron/board. Bed was comfortable and plenty of storage. We booked a sea view, which we had, although as we were in the corner room our balcony was overlooked by the balcony from the next block, a few meters away. Food was lovely, so many places to eat (and drink) in, nice to feel as though you were leaving the hotel and were eating 'out' but still AI. The staff were the hotels greatest asset, so friendly, took time to speak to you and this was over the whole resort. We would return without hesitation.

A perfect short break

I would highly recommend this hotel. We stayed for a short break and the hotel is convenient to the airport. There was a friendly welcome on arrival, the room was lovely and a good selection of food. All of the staff were very helpful and pleasant. We hope to return in the future.

The hotel / resort is very good, but there were a few issues which were very poorly dealt with by the hotel.
Firstly, I'd asked for a high floor room n my booking - we were allocated a ground floor room and when I asked why I was told \"hotels.com didn't send the request through.\" I have heard this before but as they were able to get us an upper floor room the following day I let it go. The new room was much better apart from malfunctioning air conditioning. I reported this and it dodn't get resolved while we were there. This is a shame as the rest of the stay was good.

very relaxing stay. All facilities in one place. It really made a difference to stay all inclusive and in the Royal section. We had free access to two gym, spa, bars and restaurants, did not have to carry a penny on us! only if you decide to do any water sports (also on site) you might need some cash!
I think the rooms might be up for an upgrade but the staff were so helpful and prompt that you can easily overlook that. otherwise the outdoor pool possibly on a smaller side but well kept and plenty of sunbeds to use. Of course the are few more swimming pools on the resort that we could also access. All in all, if deciding to go to Fuerteventura, this is the best place and best way to do it! We will for sure going back!

Fabulous holiday in fuerteventura

The Royal Level rooms are either looking into the beach or the sea. The rooms are modern stylish with one of the most comfortable beds ever. Beds changed twice in a week's stay with cleaners coming in daily. Some rooms have got hot tubs others upstairs have much larger balconies. The Royal Level has it's own swimming pool and restaurant although you can use the other one of you prefer a busier noisier eating place. food was excellent some dishes were already prepared others were cooked by the chef to order. The staff were friendly and very helpful and from your first welcoming drink to the free water and chocolates in your room everything was thought of to make your week special.

The Bacelo Castillo Royal level is very nice. The suite we had was with a sea view and had a hot tub on its own private terrace. The food was great and the staff friendly. The weather for this time of year was in the mid 20's C with blue sky and the odd cloud.

Block 4 Wonderful Holiday Experience

We have just returned from a week at the Barcelo Castillo Royal Level. The resort although massive, is very well appointed and the layout is fantastic. We really enjoyed our stay, food fab, John our lovely bar man made the holiday, bringing free sandwiched and fruit round to sunbathing guests. He always knew your name and your story. Try fresh fish at the Frescito across the beach, and Olivers for Cocktails in town. We had fantastic times at a place called Kwizeen, fantastic shows with Kenny and Mark at the music helm - really good entertainment, a class of their own!

Modern hotel close to the beach

We had a junior suite which was very spacious, modern and comfortable. It had everything you would need with its own kitchenette, living area and dining. A special treat is the private jacuzzi after a long day. Only complaint is that it took 1 hr for the staff to come clean it out. We also used the spa at the barcelo and the massage was excellent. Don't bother with the fitness classes as these were all fully booked for the month! Not so good

I’ve just returned from an all inclusive break and as a lady travelling alone felt very safe, secure and well looked after. Have also spent 4 holidays there with my husband and I’m booked to go again in June. the all inclusive is really worth paying for with good choice of food and places to eat plus all premium drinks, ice creams etc. Hotel is also in a lovely spot next to the sea.

Week in the winter sun

Royal Level was the description but it didn't really cut the mustard. A very large hotel which couldn't manage to provide the level of service it promised, quite possibly due to logistical limitations.

The room itself was large but had insufficient furniture.. It was equipped for self catering - hobs, microwave etc., - which was odd and rather 'low rent' for supposed Royal Level accommodation.

Issues with regard to the telephone not working, intermediate TV reception and poor Wifi was (eventually) explained as being due to ongoing works. No notice or warning was given in advance. We went to the Royal Level reception to find out what was happening at 11 am and, as there was no one there, left a message. Returning at 5 pm we found the message hadn't even been read. Very poor. We asked to see the Manager and she agreed to upgrade us to all-inclusive for the last day and a half of our stay. That was fair but it couldn't make up for the fact that we didn't feel we'd had a memorable experience. We paid a premium for an average stay.

Lovely 4 day relaxing holiday for winter sunshine

Stayed in a suite with 2 queen beds and 2 sofa beds, kitchenette and large bathroom.
Complementary drinks/ fruit on arrival and at the pool.
Half board - food excellent.
Only comment - it would be lovely if the swimming pool could be heated a few degrees in the colder months as only able to swim on one day when the sun shone, when cloudy it was too cold other than for children.

Good hotel in large complex. We stayed in Royal Level suite and the provision of bathrobes and slippers as well as complimentary drinks in the fridge was an unexpected bonus.
Our room was cleaned every day and all the staff were very friendly and helpful.
The only slightly negative point was that the food in the restaurant wasn’t very clearly labelled and as vegetarians we felt there wasn’t much choice for us - although we may have missed out due to the lack of labelling!
But on the whole we would recommend this hotel.

Royal level good views over the sea and pool.

The Royal level is in a quiet complex near the Marina. I requested a second floor which was not available when I checked in had one on the ground floor. A second floor room became available after three nights so I moved to it was much brighter with lovely views over the pool and sea. The bed was comfortable. I did not use the kitchen apart from the fridge as I was on half board. The restaurant was very good the staff excellent and helpful. Everything was well kept and clean.

The complex is large, wide range of facilities, but not enough staff.
The food although wide in choice was almost always luke warm however the breakfast included lactose free milk and yoghurt, a bonus.
The Junior Suites are large and spacious, with a hot tub if you're on the ground floor, screens for privacy and cleaned every day. Would have preferred to not have ants appearing everywhere, but they are harmless just need to put everything away.
The staff in The Ancla Restaurant are absolutely great, nothing too much trouble, quick clearing and service for drinks.
Pools are noisy, with constant music and entertainment, no where to relax and read quietly. The pool near the Perlita Pool Bar, terrible service here, was positively grotty!.
Weather was unfortunately bad, which really highlighted the lack of places to sit and relax with any type of service available and protected from the winds, not a place I would return to and not up to other Barcelo Resort standards.

Incorrectly advertised as a separate Hotel

Barceló Castillo Royal Level \"Hotel\" is actually a separate block of a large holiday complex, placed next to the cleaning and laundry facility for the complex. The reception is located elsewhere, and the Gym is a 20min walk across the other side of the bay, off complex. The rooms have insufficient utilities to function as apartment-hotel rooms but do include free ants. Outside there is a nice pool area that functions when the block is 1/3 occupied but would be unpleasantly packed if fully booked. It views on to the main 'board-walk' for the town and it views on to you.
Nearby is the harbour area, with 4-5 cafe-bars and restaurants connected to the complex. You are tagged with a bracelet on arrival (half-board/full board = 30-50% discount at two of the cafe-bars). In general the cafe staff are a rather down-beaten lot, and they serve you with a printed 100% bill each time. The prices are also higher than the nearby town (but it has its own distinct issues).
On half board you can use both main restaurants (you are told at check-in) but staff at El Castillo asked me to walk back over to the other place (El Ancla) on the first night as \"that was the half-board eatery\" but they were just trying to spread the traffic. The food is not good at all. Despite the low quality, they demand no type of shorts at dinner.

We stayed 11 nights in the Barcelo Castillo Royal Level on half-board. The stay was excellent - we could not fault the room, the facilities, the staff, the food - especially the food (breakfast and dinner) which was top class. As a bonus, the weather was also great. Strongly recommend this hotel - we will go again. Half board was good for us as there were plenty of options for lunch (and the room has a kitchenette if you just want to make a sandwich) - some people were there on the all-inclusive option but I suspect that only makes sense if you want to take advantage of the drinks bars. Great hotel - great option for autumn/winter/spring sunshine.

The Royal level is a recommended option to go for

Trying to understand what option to go for in this resort was not that easy to understand. Once there it all becomes clear though. The Royal Level (RL) are two groups of apartment style rooms. We had a suite. The TV's had 3 BBC channels and ITV and that was welcome when relaxing in the room. RL customers have their own pool area and restaurant too but can use any of the others is they wish. There is also a 30% discount in some of the resort bars and restaurants. Make sure they see the wrist band you have to assure you get it.

On our first night we awoke in the morning to a small puddle on the floor and a hole in the ceiling. We reported this at 9.55am at reception and by the time we had walked back to the room at 10.10 the maintenance guys were there, had fixed the leaking air con unit, repaired the hole and cleaned up. Very impressed indeed with that.

Every member of staff we encountered was excellent.

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and would return without reservation.

Large beach resort

We booked royal level accommodation and were given a free upgrade to a sea view deluxe suite. The suite was very well appointed over looking the man made beach ,but a short distance from the royal level swimming pool and restaurant. Meals were taken in a separate royal level restaurant, the food was well presented and the staff were helpful but sometimes limited and boring. We ate in the a la carte restaurant one night, which we found expensive and the worst meal we had all week.
When we booked this holiday we did not realise how large the resort was and what variety of accommodation was on offer or that it was very family orientated. Our experience was spoiled by the number of crying babies and badly behaved children, it was difficult to get in and out of the pool for children blocking the steps or to get to tables in the restaurant for parked buggies.
Overall, I would not recommend for people travelling without children. Perhaps Royal level should be adult only.

This is our second visit. It's a large complex near a man made beach and harbour which is very pretty. The Royal level is very good we had a suite with sea view. We were all inclusive and had our own restaurant for breakfast and dinner with a special room in the buffet just for Royal level guests - it was good value for what we got. We are going back for New Years.

Gorgeous hotel close to beach

Staff were extremely friendly, impeccable reception and check in, room right at the pool at royal level. Pool bar with fab staff, service excelent, nothing left to wish for. Nice pool, good mini golf and restaurant was good for both breakfast and dinner. Veggies a little bit too well done and ice cream too soft but that's probably the only thing we can come up with as criticism.

Overpriced.

It was very overpriced for what we had.We stayed at the Premium Royal level...but had to have breakfast and dinner with the rest of the people that stayed at the Barcelo Complex(at much lower prices to the one that we paid).Which was like a bun fight to be honest.Noisy,screaming kids everywhere - you get the picture.The staff couldn't wait to clear everyrthing away.We were told to wear long trousers for dinner (which was fine)..but when we got there people were dressed in all sorts (again fine) - but not what we were promised.That part was not pleasant !! We would at least have expected A la carte...the rest to be fair was fine - but NOT at the price we paid for just one night.We usually stay in our own apartment when we holiday in Caleta.But could not stay there on the last night this time due to family using it.Believe me a world away from this....

Excellent staff and service in the premier restraint.This service and food was 5 star however the other restraint was not what l would call 3 star l guess you get what you pay for.Again with our room it was excellent however if you haven't children pay the extra!

Make sure the beach renovations are finished!

Although there are several Barcelo hotels in the resort, Barcelo Castillo Royal Level is not a further hotel but the premium service at Barcelo Castillo. This we only discovered by queuing at reception for fifteen minutes to be directed across to the empty premium desk where we were duly provided with cold drinks and shown to our suite. The Junior Suite is pleasant and well equipped though not luxurious. Facilities included a well stocked fridge, kitchen equipment, two televisions and a hot tub, though this we couldn't use due to a very slow supply of tepid water.
At 7 a.m. we were awakened by an ear-splitting shrieking noise that, on pulling back the curtains, was revealed as a bulldozer smoothing the sand on the beach being renovated right outside the hotel. This happened every morning (except Sunday) and continued until well into the evening. Why the machine was so noisy and had to start so early we never discovered.
Resort facilities are (or will be!) good with plenty of activities, a reasonable premium restaurant and several swimming pools. Loud music (possibly to drown the bulldozer!) by the main pool drove us away to a designated premium pool but here one had to contend with the noise of drills and hammers as some of the surrounding apartments are completed.

a few problems at check-in, room was like a one bedroom flat (but a bit plain), breakfast in main buffet was OK but dinner was not good, breakfast and dinner in the \"special\" separate buffet was much better, the marina area belonging to the hotel was very nice, beach was closed for extension works, long walk to gym, thalasso spa closed for extension works, staff were good

Exclusive Resort Feeling

We stayed in an area of hotel complex that you needed key card access to. This was the 'premier' area. It had a private pool with only guest access in this area. It had a pool bar and lifeguard. The entire area was very clean. The room fridge had a range of complimentary drinks and a plate of fruit. The only charge was if you wanted more.
We were half board which was more than enough for us. We had meals in a separate restaurant reserved for 'premier' guests. If you ate at any other restaurants on the resort you got a 30% discount.

Nice hotel close to all aminaties.

Nice hotel enjoyed the walk around the hotel grounds. Was close to shops and restaurants.. we eat in the marina a few times in the alcarte lresturant which was very good. The hotel rooms were very good in size but the lighting was so bad! Such a shame. It would make a huge difference to make the rooms brighter.

Quality hotel within easy reach of airport

We stayed in a Junior Suite(4023) with a sea view on a half board basis. The room was modern and clean with a very comfortable and large bed. It was also very quiet and the terrace was relatively secluded even though there is a public path between the hotel and the sea. The walk in shower was very good, although water did leak under the door into the room. Not too much of a problem as it was soaked up by the bath mat which was changed daily. However a small lip on the floor would have solved the problem. A deposit of 7euros had to be paid for the room safe, however this was returned at checkout. The room had a kitchenette (not used) which would be sufficient to prepare simple meals, however we were half board and found that the high standard of food and the amount available was sufficient to ensure we never hungry. The Jacuzzi on the room terrace was useful to enable us to cool down on a sunny day. We got sufficient sun on the terrace during the day and only lost it in the late afternoon, however if you need longer in the sun we suggest you request room 4024 (next door) as the sun goes down later on that terrace.

Suits all needs

Our checkin was easy and Denise was brilliant at explaining facilities and keeping in touch while awaiting our room availability. The site offered something for everyone from joining in to finding a quiet spot. The pools were very clean and set in lovely surroundings. The site, although vast, never felt overcrowded and was within easy walking distance to town and suited all walking abilities from flat beachside promenade to sloping lanes. Be aware that the site is close to flight path so if you enjoy plane spotting, perfect, if you want total peace, maybe weigh up facilities over frequent plane noise.

Really good hotel, clean and spacious accommodation. Food okay and staff really excellent and although work is going on at the beach, is not a problem, didn't hear a thing. Would recommend the hotel and will be sure to go again.

Relaxing and comfortable stay

We stayed at the Barcelo Club Premium (now Royale) for a week from the 7th - 14th January in a Deluxe Junior Suite with a hot tub. The Suite was spacious, modern, well designed, comfortable and very clean. We stayed half board and dined in Le Ancla restaurant. Good choice of food at both breakfast and dinner with meats cooked freshly to order on the hot plate.
This was our second visit to the Club Premium and would not hesitate to come again.

Excellent hotel for kids and adults

2nd time staying at this hotel and had a wonderful time once again.

We stayed in the studio apartment- it had a hot tub in the garden and a separate bedroom with a sofa bed in the lounge. There was also a fridge, small kitchen area (including a hob), microwave and kettle. It was right by the pool for the premium guests.

The food was great- the restaurant by the marina serves a wide choice of food for breakfast and dinner and includes freshly cooked food each day.

The staff were really friendly and great with the kids.

There was lots for the kids to do including a kids club; lots of swimming pools and the beach. There was also a land train to the local shopping centre and an alternative beach. For the adults there is a gym and a spa as well as a sports bar.

The premium accommodation and service were great, amenities for premium guests were great too. Really nice spot with a great sea view. Although the maintenance service of the air conditioning unit (flooded floor) was not addressed while we were there.

Superb premier club, always plenty of sun beds.
Buffet restaurant food plentiful choices and nicely cooked.
Buffet pre-prepared food dishes were in too small an area and always crowded and a \"bussle\" to obtain choices. Needs to be enlarged

Nicely appointed and well designed rooms. A big advantage to have a small intimate restaurant for Breakfast and Dinner and avoid the usual half board scrum on a beach holiday. The chefs were excellent.

Very disappointed

Overall disappointed. Checking in process for premium guests was done in a
small corner of the Barceló hotel, and took a very long time as only one
person on the check in desk. Rooms situated across the road from main Hotel.
No help was offered for luggage.
Terrace on the ground floor were very very small and so close to pool I could
touch the person on a poolside sunbed while sitting on the terrace.
We were offered the room next door with a small patch of garden with a tree
which was a little better but bedroom had small window looking out onto the
main walkway. Only bedside lamps no main light it was like sleeping in a cave.

On the positive side the staff were lovely and very helpful and food very good. However due to room situation very disappointing for four stars
and will not be returning.

Nice Place, Unfortunate timing.

Check in on arrival was swift and I was escorted to my suite, The accommodation was very nice and kept spotlessly clean, (full marks to the cleaners). The location is good for the Marina but not so handy for the town it's self, half mile walk. Unfortunately 2 days after my arrival work started outside my room for the construction of Patios and Pergolas on the ground floor below me. This was somewhat noisey and dusty for the rest of my two week stay. I appreciate that work has to be done and I don't blame the hotel for doing it, but perhaps they could have put the guests elsewhere during the work. I am not going to mark the accommodation down for this as work has to be done sometime. The private pool is lovely and the attendant John was very helpful and a genuine man.
The Premium restaurant is convenient and and I found the food to be superb. My only real complaint as a frequent world traveler is that there was no WIFI available anywhere in the area, other than at reception which was a few hundred yards away and not very helpful to myself as a partialy disabled person with walking difficulties. All said I would happily return here, all the staff were very friendly and helpful (extra coffee).

Treat yourselves to a bit of luxury

Barcel Castillo Beach Resort has a wonderful location on the bay at Caleta de Fuste only fifteen minutes from the airport. The resort feels like a village with the marina,beach & bay on one side and the crashing ocean waves on the other.
We booked a junior suite in the Club Premium area and it was well worth the money - huge,open-plan accommodation leading to the hot tub on the decking.
El Ancla restaurant has excellent buffet-style meals and there are several different bars on the marina. There are planned family activities each day if you want them but we were happy to sunbathe around one of the pools, play minigolf, stroll around the bay and visit the Thalasso spa just a short walk away.
All the staff were exceptionally helpful and friendly.

We had a short stay here which we enjoyed ,nice premium hotel. Food was buffet style and quite good . There was entertainment next door in the Barcelo hotel which we found mediocre. Better in the El Capitan pub near bye.

Great holiday destination and absolutely fabulous food over the festive period. The staff in the restaurants were amazing.
Very comfortable rooms and an excellent maid service. Lovely walks along the bay on the promenade with plenty stops for coffee and a beer. One of the best holidays we've had.

good value relaxing and pleasant , 4 star plus

we are a couple who stayed for 29 nights, in the premium , leaving the resort on 19th dec 2015 . the suite was excellent and the cleaning service first class . the restaurant staff were very very attentive and the food was bordering on 5 star quality
this was our 2nd visit having stayed in the bungalows in april/may .
We used the outdoor heated pool most days and noticed the heat was turned off several times covering about 6 days of our stay , the staff were telling us \"maintenance\" but it felt like penny pinching by management ,and clearly the staff were embarrassed . the hotel is advertised with heated pool that is what we expected , visitors with ailments will dislike cold pools .
overall we like the resort ,find it very relaxing ,enjoy the walking to the shops and bars and we do intend to return in 2016

Nice room

Only a pathway between our hotel room and the sea, lovely location, nearly all the staff were great.
Food was pretty good too.
Just one incident that occured three times to be aware of, as we had paid for Club Premium, which includes
premium brand drinks on all inclusive, The bar manager at the theatre bar repeatedly tried to swap my BAILEYS
for a cheaper locally poorly made irish cream...... Very Naughty
