Inside and around the bed was swarming with tiny insects. I had to wait until the next day to change room.

From the moment I arrived I felt very welcomed and the staff couldn't do enough.

The bungalow I stayed in was sublime - everything I needed and more...and approx 10 steps to the pool on one side, and 10 steps to the beach on the other side.

My return flight wasn't until 9pm, and check-out is at 12 noon - however, they allow you to use the facilities and even have a shower and changing room so that you could freshen up after the day and before leaving for your flight - what a bonus!

They also ordered the most perfect week of weather! LOL LOL

AMAZING STAY - will definitely return!!!

Very nice see view, very good food. However there are multiple small things which need attention: deck outside was broken with screws sticking out (bit scarry when you travel with kid), faulty hairdryer, missing plug for hydromassage bath, sometimes houskeeping service did not left water or coffe capsulles and salty water in swimming pool (which we not expected)

The room was not available at 3pm when check in so could not use the pool and then when we did get our room we walked about 5 mins and the keys did not work so we had to go back to change them there were two beds put together but they kept moving and we both kept falling through the gap

This is a very good resort in a great location. You receive this flimsy card key to wear around your wrist. Either it stops working or it falls off. You need a better solution. I did half board and was not too happy with the food. I only eat meat. There was plenty of it but just not that good. My favourite food item was the made to order omelet at breakfast. In addition, at breakfast water is free. At dinner you are charged for water. In my opinion, this is an injustice. Overall, I would return to this resort, but would have my meals at local restaurants.

Wonderful stay in the Royal room with hot tub overlooking the garden and sea.
Comfy bed, quiet location and walking distance to beach and restaurants.
Friendly staff and even received chocolates on the pillows. I enjoyed using the exclusive Royal guests only pools.

I thought that the property was well maintained and organised, positioned in an ideal spot to access Caleta De Fuste resort and / beach. I was fortunate to receive an upgrade to Junior Suite. The staff were extremely friendly, helpful and efficient. Nothing was too much trouble.

The Castle in the grounds gave the hotel a sense of grandness. Although the swimming pool was very cold, I did access it.

I liked that my block (3) was very close to the pool and buffet restaurant. I liked that I could also eat in the other hotel and try various cuisines e.g. Mexican.

My only improvement would be for the buffet food to be hotter than it was. I know in the Mediterranean there is a tendency not to have the food piping hot but that's my preference.

Disappointing and misleading experience

I booked Barcelo Castillo Resort for our Christmas holiday, expecting a child-friendly experience based on its advertising, but it turned out to be a big disappointment. My 4-year-old was upset to find the princess/pirate room closed, the pools too cold to use, and no toys available in the Barcy Club. The children’s disco was poorly organized, held outdoors in the cold December evenings, making it very uncomfortable. The layout of the resort was inconvenient—long walks were required to reach any bar, restaurant, or the gym. Speaking of the gym, it was at the far end of the resort, shared with Barcelo Mar, and so overcrowded that exercising was impossible. The food in the restaurant was tasteless, often undercooked, and required multiple requests to have grilled items properly cooked. The bar offered a very limited drink selection.
For Christmas night, we were charged triple the normal rate, and while the dinner was nice, it didn’t justify the price. The only benefit was access to the Barcelo Mar heated pool and children’s entertainment, but this required another long walk, which wasn’t practical every night with a tired toddler.
Despite my repeated complaints, staff were unhelpful and didn’t address issues like the broken shower head that splashed water all over the bathroom. Overall, the experience was far below expecand wojld not recommend. Definetly not coming back here again.

I’ve stayed at 3 separate Barcelo hotels in the past 3 years, this is the worst.
It’s a huge site, it was a 20min round trip to walk to reception or for breakfast/dinner.
When there was a problem with my keycard slightly before checkout time, the staff were not helpful, apologetic or sympathetic.
It was 10 mins to walk there, queue to be seen, separate ‘royal level’ reception wouldn’t even talk to me, pointed me in the direction of main reception.
All in all, a 35 minute total to resolve a key problem which left me 20 mins to shower and get organised.
Room cleaning staff only made beds and changed towels, not one thing else, it isn’t acceptable with the price paid and for an upmarket hotel chain like Barcelo.
Restaurant staff and food good, can’t fault that.
Bar staff didn’t want to be there, rushed drinks and onto the next.
Bars need tidying up, the harbour area is lovely, but the bar and entertainment area could be changed and made a lot nicer and certainly cleaner.
All in all, I won’t stay again, there are better hotels out there.

You have to be 6ft tall to see in the small mirror and shower head was hopeless. Didn’t adjust .. and sprayed everywhere but on you !

It was fine, various things in the apartment didn’t work however (light bulbs, only one air conditioning unit, shower gel holder kept falling off). I didn’t tell reception because it wasn’t enough to warrant that much effort but just not sure why they weren’t just working. Aren’t they checked every time there is a switchover?

I wasn’t advised about the Barceló app so when I went to the spa all the appointments were fully booked. And the steam room wasn’t working.

Also, sadly the food at evening meal (I went half board) was terrible.

I would not really have said this was 4*.

The check in gime online says 2pm, once arrived the rude receptionist said it was 3pm, but the room still wasmt ready until 3 20pm
Both air con units in the room were dripping water, shower head was missing, bathroom window didnt open properly,
Usual people putting towels on sundeds in the morning to reserve them, the beach is 10.50 euros a day for 2 sunbeds, buffet food 7/10,
But still enjoyed my stay, weather was great, beach was great,

Very good hotel. Modern, clean. The only gripe we had was with the food. We had an all-inclusive package and lunches and dinner were not good. Food was very uninspiring. Every day pizza, pasta and perhaps one type of fish. Dessert was also not good, except the fresh fruit. We ended up eating out every day.

Just returned from a terrible week at this hotel. Not 4* at all. The food is the same for lunch and dinner every day and overcooked but cold!
Despite being on all inclusive spent the first 4 days arguing with staff to be able to get bottled water during the day - they prefer to give you warm water from a machine with ice cubes in. Only after complaining to the manager was I able to get bottled water. Both my partner and I were ill for the majority of the stay!
Staff rude and miserable. Hardly any parasols and people having to bring suN loungers from their rooms to the pool as not enough to go around!
I will be contacting their head office with my comments it was so bad!

Nice hotel with friendly staff and good sized rooms.

The area is mostly the resort with very little around (a few shops, a couple of pubs - the hotel beach bar is great with lovely staff!) so would recommend getting a food plan with your stay above breakfast as the kitchens in the rooms have very few utensils so you’d find it tricky to cook. The food at the buffet is ok but there isn’t much variety from one night to the next. It also doesn’t open until 6.30pm (7 in the summer) which isn’t ideal for young children.

There are also a couple of discrepancies between the Expedia listing and the reality of the hotel. These aren’t necessarily problems but worth being aware of. Check in isn’t actually until 3 so our room wasn’t ready when we arrived. Also, the superior bungalows are actually apartments so there’s a good chance you’ll get one which is upstairs and have to carry your luggage/prams up the steps. The listings also state they have showers or baths but we were informed that they only actually have showers which was an issue as we were travelling with a toddler. The staff were able to find us a baby bath but with our child being almost two this was a bit cosy!
The children’s pool and main play areas are sadly only for those aged 4 and the children’s disco doesn’t start until 8.30 which is a real shame

If you want to relax, Barcelo' resort is the right place to do so. it's quiet, chilled, mainly for couples and families. The facilities are good and the room is very big and comfortable. However, if you want to discover Fuerteventura, Caleta de Fuste is not the most authentic place.

I absolutely loved my stay here - it was exactly what i needed and exceeded my expectations. Great food, friendly staff, extremely clean and comfy beds. The evening entertainment was really fun too. Oh, and G&T is included in the all-inclusive rate which was a nice surprise. The only thing I would say is that plastic cups are used for the all inclusive beer and there was no recycling. I opted to use paper cups but it would be nice is plastic cups & straws were completely banned as there's really no need for them.

Definitely not a 4 star experience, terrible cost-to-value

Check-in terrible: unfriendly, not accommodating at all, refused to give out rooms way past the check-in time (although half the facility was empty), we needed to fill in all forms by ourselves, long waiting times

The service is rather youth-hostel level (deposit fees for towels; reception can't be called; housekeeping came 6 hours after we requested) and so is the enitre feel of the resort. The whole facility seems very chavy and cheap.

Tiny pool area + the beach is actually public (with overpriced pruvate equipment use). Chilling at the pool is rather unsatisfactory (loud, overcrowded).

Rooms were ok though a bit outdated.

We probably didn't see the best of the hotel given we visited during the pandemic and most of the facilities were not open and the whole resort and area was like a ghost town.

The position of the hotel is fantastic - right by the beach and on a promenade walk - which I imagine in usual times has bars and restaurants lining it.

A beautiful large pool area with good quality sun loungers, a bar and a sea view was lovely and really clean. It was a little chilly when we went, so didn't swim.

We stayed in a deluxe studio and it was a lovely room with a balcony and a partial sea view. Very modern and well appointed with good air conditioning - but if you like privacy for the bathroom then not so good as the shower and the sink are in the main room, so little privacy in that regard - I personally prefer a private bathroom. The kitchen area was a bit gloomy with little natural light. Beds super comfortable and that is the main thing for me.

Buffet breakfast was great - beautiful selection of food and some cooked to order options.

The resort was so quiet with most bars and restaurants closed so we struggled to find places to eat.

My only criticism is that the receptionist was a bit surly on check in.

I imagine in usual times, this is a great hotel option and a premium one on the island. Unfortunately our 7 day break was cut to 2 when they closed the travel corridor, so we didn't get the best of it.

This is an excellent holiday destination. The only reason we cannot rate it as 'Excellent' is the misleading details on their website. It clearly states that this is an All Inclusive hotel (twice in fact) but is not. We booked with that expectation but found on checking in that we were self catering!
We soon adjusted to this and had a good holiday.

The bungalows we stayed in were very disappointing as we have stayed there before we expected them to be updated but they haven't been. Staff on reception staff we very ignorant and rude when we checked in also when we wanted to pay to stay as had late flight home was told no problem then told sorry we are full now !!! Also when I had a query I was in a queue of 5 then when it became my turn the staff member walked into a back room and diidnt bother coming back out so we all had to join another queue. They were all different members of the reception staff so not good

Amazing November Break

It was an excellent location and with a car you can tour the ireland easily and see other locations as well. The resort was perfect with our own bungalow and close to the pool and beach and of course the town with great food and drink at very good prices and entertainment at Barcello was good as well at the end of a nice day at the pool. Definitely perfect for November as 21-22 degrees and sunshine.

First impressions were very good. The smell of the reception area was amazing! As we were travelling with family on a separate booking, I contacted the hotel prior to arrival to see if our bungalows could be as close together as possible which upon checking in found they were able to accommodate which was great. Breakfast was really good, something for everyone, however Dinner was abit hit and miss at times. My only problem with this hotel is that it's so big, everything is within walking distance but not under the same roof as in restaurant/entertainment. We had 40-50mph winds whilst we were there and not great with a baby.

This is our second time staying at one of the self catering bungalows at Barcelo. We absolutely love it here. All amenities are very close to each other whilst being a 1-2 minute walk to the beach or town.

The pools are clean and well kept, with spacely placed sun loungers (nothing worse than being on top of each other.) The bar area and all inclusive area next to the main pools so ease of access.

We did run into an issue when we first arrived at the room, but after speaking with the more than helpful and understanding reception staff, we were immediately moved to another bungalow. We even received a courtesy call from the Hotel Manager to ensure all was well with our new placement and if there was anything further that could be done to ensure we enjoyed our stay. We are also English speaking, and this was never an issue whilst staying.

We can, hand on heart, say that you will not be disappointed with the excellent service! Thanks all!!

The stay was disappointing. Stayed 5 nights and the lowest side was the food; it was simply replicated everyday at Breakfast and Dinner. No innovation; boring and distasteful. The amenities were also outdated, old and unconditioned. Surely need renovations and improvements all round.

Generally speaking the resort was a good place to stay for families as time was taken to keep the resort looking clean and green. Buffet was great with a vast selection. There were however a lot of areas that did disappoint which were as follows:

- Check-in took over an hour due to long queues. Following which we had notes left in our bungalow to show our passports again which took another hour a few days later
- They didn’t honour the price match advertised on site as no staff were able to understand who could authorise
- We booked three bungalows which I had requested were placed together with email confirmation agreeing this, but this wasn’t the case
- Bungalow suggests there are no levels above you, but there were. With tiled floors you could hear everything. Children running up and down and shouting. Furniture being scraped along the floor
- We booked a king size bed, so my partner, I and child could sleep together but these were two singles beds pushed together so not ideal
- Lights flickered like strobe lighting but were fixed
- Restaurant very busy, so could rarely sit together the first part of holiday. Plates often taken before you’d finished meal. No menus for drinks were provided so we were unaware of costs.
- Pools were not heated as suggested
- On check out our drink bills were not itemised we were only given daily costs so impossible to check if this was correct
- Soft play areas are limited and could have been improved as very basic

For the money it is excellent. Very clean and comfortable beds. The heated kids pool the other end of the complex could do with more options for the all inclusive, as if you have kids in the kids club and younger ones in the pool there is no access to the free ice cream or coffee machine which is located by the main pool there is only beer and fizzy drinks with no snacks.
Dinner was good and had a very good variety of foods available each night. It can get very busy early on so we ate later on at 8.30pm but that meant we miss mini disco. As we ait later the tables were limited and as we were a party of six we were restricted to the back and were never allowed to sit by the window which I thought was a shame.
Kids club was amazing and my six year old loved it. I was slightly uneasy how close the door is to the public main path.
The entertainment was really good 5/7 for kids.
All in all we had a very good week.

Third time at the Barcelo

Our third visit to the Barcelo Beach so it cant be that bad.
Rooms are reasonably comfortable and have all that you need, and are v convenient for the town and beach.
We went half board this time because of the VFM and the breakfasts were fine with the evening meals edible if not a bit bland, but what do you expect for the price and for mass catering.

The resort is huge and in an amazing location at the harbour and beach. The food is lovely. Reception and housekeeping staff are very nice. Restaurant waiting staff were not friendly and quite rude in some cases. We were in a group of 12 but they refused to let us reserve a table and therefore there was never one available for our large group. After standing around for a good 10 minutes every night waiting on a table to clear, the staff then ignored our requests for cutlery/ napkins and we had to set it ourselves every night. The restaurant is like a feeding frenzy in the evening with people pushing past each other. It’s hard to avoid this when the entrance to the restaurant makes you walk through the buffet area before you get a table.
The bungalows are lovely but are quite run down now and in desperate need of a deep clean. When we flushed our toilet, the water backed up through the bath. Quite a disgusting discovery when we had already bathed our 5 month old daughter in the bath tub. The room also reeked of cigarette smoke she we found quite a few large cockroaches.

The bungalow located in sector 3 looked and felt old and tired and . Flaky plasterwork and not pleasing to the eye. One felt because this was self catering rather than all inclusive and an Expedia rather than direct booking , the better accommodation was allocated elsewhere. There were a couple of events with cockroaches that didn't help. Also sector 3 a step from the main complex although a great pool area and a short walk to the beach. Have stayed before in better property sector 1.

Stayed in feb 19 and thought the hotel, the staff and the service was very good. The only heated pool ( which wad the only one warm enough for my children) is at the back of the hotel with no view except walls, no snack bar and no drinks other than beer/soft drinks. This was a shame as the other pools were wonderful and had everything, but they were too cold. Another issue for me was lack of a bar in the buffet restaurant, so only beer and wine on tap, meaning you had to walk to the marina to get a drink and take it back to the restaurant for dinner, then back to the marina for the entertainment. It also took a few days to get my head around what you could get (Good and drink) from each area. That aside, the place was lovely, food was good and kids club excellent.

Ultimately a nice stay. Expected more from a 4* establishment. Accommodation was ok, bathroom a little dated and if you were self catering then there is no washing up consumables and if you are expecting tea and coffee and bottle of water as in any other hotel you will be disappointed. On the plus side the bed was very comfortable and if you are staying in a first floor apartment the balconies outside living area and front door are lovely. Restaurant can be a little busy especially at breakfast and don't expect to be shown to a table or offered tea or coffee. That said food is acceptable but could be warmer. All in all a quite nice place to go

We had a very good stay but initially we couldn’t get hot water until We realised that you have to let the hot run for quite a few minutes before it came through after that no problem just plan ahead for hot water use.

Th resort was very good with everything, the food was excellent well cooked and prepared and the hotel staff are very efficient and organised, with it being self catering right up to all inclusive it caters for a large selection of people, some of the hotel needs bits of updating but while there works were ongoing, we had a small issue of a light that didn't work and once we told the reception it was sorted within a couple of hours, the place is situated in a nice area and the sea is right on the doorstep so great for walks around the bay, they have water sports and sea trips that can be booked for the more adventurous, overall a nice resort for relaxing and also good for kids,

We had a bungalow so that we could self cater but the facilities were poor to say the least and it was necessary for us to eat out though we really couldn’t afford it. We had one pot, one frying pan, and one small serving dish, no serving spoons of any description. We asked at reception for a small pot but it didn’t come that day so we asked again and when it did come it was enormous. My husband had a boiled egg and it took 20 minutes to boil. There was a microwave which apparently doubled up as a grill and oven but there were no instructions and no dishes to put the food into to cook it. The staff were lovely and the cleaning couldn’t be faulted. Towels changed everyday which was very good. I received a bottle of wine and chocolates as it was my birthday while I was there which was a nice touch. We had blue bands placed on our wrists and advised that that meant we got things at a reduced rate. When we asked at the mini golf we where told blue bands didn’t get a discount which was very embarrassing so we didn’t enquire about anything else. Went to see about breakfast and no details anywhere on the cost in the dining room nor in our apartment. This turned what could have been a lovely holiday into a bit of a struggle. Felt the band system makes you a bit of a lepar and the focus is on getting everyone to the dining room.

Only stayed one night but the pool was lovely and the resort very well located.
Only negative was that the shower was borderline unusable. If we were there longer than one night we would have asked for a change of room. Given a room with a working shower i would definitely recommend others to stay here.

The room was spotless, however the lighting was extremely bad so hard to see what was in your waldrove once the sun had gone down and difficult to do your make up. The pool was not heated so freezing cold and it could of done with music by the pool.

In the whole to stay was enjoyable . The only downside was that meal times sometimes felt overcrowded and noisy. We also had a couple of rainy days and the only place for refreshments (when all inclusive) was an outdoor pool bar .

Our stay in this hotel was okay, but there was some things which were very disappointing. First of all Expedia.com is posting pictures from Barcello Royal Level Hotel which is a different hotel- rooms there are renovated with a high standard.

Expedia.com is not informing that the gym is available only for the extra pay which is 5euro a day per person- we were very disappointed as we chose this hotel because of gym facilities.

Our room and bathroom has got a lot of cracks on the wall and mould which is not acceptable! This hotel should be categorised as 2 or 3 star and Expedia should notify customers about danger to the health.

Restaurant was serving a good variety of food, although we were disappointed that drinks for dinner are extra cost as we paid for the half board. We had a few dinner when we weren't offered a drink to our dinner. We made a complaint to the restaurant manager about it.

First night of our stay we had a massive flood in our room from the air-condition unit. It was reported and fixed in the afternoon, but overall it was unpleasant experience.

The Hotel is ok but the area is run down!

Whilst my wife and I sat on the veranda at the front of our bungalow on day 3 an intruder entered the bungalow from the patio door in the bedroom from the rear, and stole my wife's handbag from the table in the lounge. The bag contained her purse, watch, phone, & wedding ring. At first the hotel junior management did not believe my wife. At that point I became quite cross that we were not being taken seriously. From then on the resort manager became involved. And we found out it had happened before quite recently !. The bungalows are away from the reception but within the resort with a carded security gate but you can step over, and through the timber poles atop of the surrounding walls into the grounds. The hotel then informed us we had to go to the main town by taxi ( that they paid for ) to make a statement, that took most of the evening. On returning to the resort I told the management that I refused to stay in the Bungalow. They apologised and did transfer us too a suite for the rest of our stay. I totally understand that it is not the staffs fault and they could not apologise enough, but they were aware of security issues, and housekeeping leaving security gates open and the area unattended. Perhaps if they had said on arrival to be aware, we would have not unlocked the bedroom door.

Fantastic hotel and well located by the marina and beaches .
Excellent variety in terms of restaurants , very friendly staff in all areas .
Excellent air conditioning in rooms which were of a good size.
Maid service superb every day .
Variety of pools to use in different areas .

Disappointing stay overall.

Some staff were extremely helpful, but the majority disappeared into the back room when anyone walked up to the front desk, or continued talking between themselves, very rude.

Pros- lovely area away from the ' Blackpool 'bars and restaurants in town.

Cons -
Being charged €3 per day for an iron.
Being charged €5 a day for an iron board.
Being charged €2 every time you want a clean towel.
Being charged to use the safe in the room.

Bungalows very sparse.
No egg cups
No teapot
No frying pan
2 ring cooker
No utensils
No washing bowl/liquid/cloth/tea towel.

Several cats in the area, constantly coming into the accommodation whenever a door is left open.

Would I recommend? NO.

Very please with the stay at this resort

We stayed at Barceló Castillo Beach Resort for a week, a family of 4. The apartment was spacious, clean and of high standard. The personnel was kind and always smiling. We were very pleased with the variety of food in the buffet. The food was tasty and everybody would find something for themselves. As we booked all inclusive option, we had an access to 4 different pools what was also nice. All inclusive alcoholic drinks were average, for better ones had to pay additionally. We were very impressed with the evening shows in the theatre within the resort - there was always something for kids and for adults. All the above made our holiday a very pleasant experience - thank you.

Disappointing accommodation.

Very disappointing standard of accommodation. This is truly a \"resort\" hotel with the communal areas spread quite widely around the harbour area. Found that the nicer areas and photos from the website, although part of the hotel resort, are in fact equally accessible to non hotel guests. As a result, this was no better than a basic 3 star self catering apartment.
