The room was overlooking a wall and it was very very small. Very dated decor and old furniture. The bedding looked dirty and the room smelled like smoke - we booked a non smoking room. The location is good but the hotel was expensive (more expensive than the one in Kyoto that was 100 times better) and the overall condition of the property was not great. The staff speakers english but they were not very kind.

Hôtel très bien situé et propre (comme partout au Japon). Mais chambres vraiment extrêmement petites (impossibilité de déposer les valises) et petit déjeuner vraiment pauvre. Par ailleurs le personnel est peu anglophone et peu disposé à répondre à nos questions (comment aller à l’aéroport, combien coute un billet de bus...des questions simples pourtant). Je pense qu’au même prix, on peut trouver mieux.

Room and hotel is quite good. Staff are helpful. While the sheets on the bed and the rest of the hotel appeared clean, the duvet cover on bed had stains on it, so did not look clean. The breakfast labels allergies of dairy, eggs and gluten. However they do not label what foods contain meat or fish. This makes it very difficult. There is a free drinks machine in lobby with juice and soda which is nice. Although some of the drinks contain milk and are not labelled as such.

Stayed at this hotel in late October 2018. Location is good, not too far from the Hatchobori tram stop. Also not too far from the Maple Loop bus stops. Breakfast opened at 5:00AM which was nice, since it gave us time for an early start. Variety of breakfast items which were tasty. Drinks in the lobby was nice at all times of the day. Public Bath was nice. Did not use the coin laundry, since it was always being used when I went down to take a look. Employees were friendly enough. I did not have any trouble communicating with them in English. Overall I would stay here again.

Hotel would be fine if travelling alone

This review is based on 2 people using one of their rooms which was uncomfortable. The room had a frosted glass box for the bathroom. I wouldn’t mind this if I was travelling alone but it was weird when travelling with someone else. I would avoid if you are a couple. I really don’t know why they would design a room like this.

Other than that the hotel was clean and the room was a good size.

Hotel breakfast options could be better for vegetarian/vegans too.

Great value in Hiroshima

Great hotel. About 10/15 mins walk from the station, the castle and the peace park. There's a tram stop outside too. It's easy to find as well. The view from our room was good. The washing service is brilliant, clean and dry clothes within an hour and a half. Staff were lovely and when we arrived early they stored our bags while we went out for a bit.

It's a very nice hotel, the free laundry and drinks services are really a plus! Just be aware that, as it's free, there might be a few people for the laundry but just go to the public bathroom in front of it, it's really relaxing! The rooms are clean and if a good enough size as well.

Great boutique style hotel in convenient location

No frills boutique style hotel with all you need in a convenient location. Staff very friendly, good breakfast. There was some construction next door but we were out when this was happening so not a problem. The tour buses (included with JR passes) stopped about 5 minutes away providing great access to the Peace Park and Atomic bomb dome, plus others. If visiting Miyajima Island (highly recommended) take the train from the train station to the port and catch the JR ferry - all free with pass.

Amazing location.

Urbain Hiroshima Central lives up to its name, centrally located to everything in Hiroshima, tram stop, peace park, nightlife and shopping are all within a short walk. Room had been recently remodeled, was clean and decent size for Japan standards. Continental breakfast was adequate and free laundry was a bonus, not a luxury hotel, but definitely a great deal for a few nights in Hiroshima.

The hotel is not too far using the streetcar and a few mins walk. The hotel signage is not big so you might miss it. The rooms are probably standard Japanese sizes so quite small. The clientele seems to be business people. It was great to have breakfast included and non-alcoholic drinks available 24-7. For a short stay in Hiroshima, it’s good esp as the Hiroshima Museum and Peace park are within reasonable walking distance.

The location and staff at Urbain Hisoshima were fantastic. Rooms were small but the free breakfast and drinks all day in the lobby was a great bonus. The staff helped us with our bike rental for the day which was a fantastic way to see the city. Only a few of the staff spoke English but they were all so friendly and willing to help.

Simple hotel that should meet your needs

Overall Urbain Hiroshima Central is a pretty good hotel. It's pretty basic but not too expensive and has some interesting perks. There is a drink machine in the main lobby where you can get pop, juice, tea or coffee for free at any time. The included breakfast has quite the spread, changes daily and was pretty delicious. That said the rooms were just ever so slightly... off. It was pretty comparable to other hotels we stayed at in Japan but the room layout was just slight sub-optimal. Weird problems like having the light for the bathroom be outside the bathroom. behind a door that opens outwards is just a little less than ideal. The room was bigger than some other hotels we stayed at, but had an odd arrangement so we had a harder time moving around it and not tripping over each other or our stuff.

We were told about the construction work when we checked-in and were given the opportunity to use earplugs,but we did not hear any construction during our stay.

The location is about a 20 minute walk from Hiroshima Station (with no JR trains nearby). It is about a 20 minute walk from the Hiroshima Peace Park and Memorials as well, so reasonably good location.

Great value for money!

Really enjoyed our stay here. Decent sized rooms, very clean. Breakfast was good, although I am not keen on curry and noodles for breakfast, but that is a personal thing. I was more than happy with the yogurts and pastries and great drink options instead. All drinks in the lobby are free, use of the washing machine and dryer is also free! We haven't experienced that anywhere else. Really happy with this hotel.

Hotel was within easy walking distance of the Peace Park, the railway station and the shopping and entertainment district. The hotel had friendly and helpful staff, complementary breakfast with a great variety of dishes to choose from, hot and cold drinks available from the foyer all day, a sauna and spa room and free laundry facilities. These extra little touches made our stay more enjoyable. The rooms were on the small side and the decor a little bit tired, but they were clean with good air conditioning, fridge and kettle.

Great value for money

A gem of a budget hotel. It's 15 minutes walk from the station and about 20 to the main sights. The air-conditioned room was comfortable with minimal street noise. Large comfy bed, good bathroom. Breakfast was plentiful and though geared towards local tastes, it provides just enough choice to satisfy a Western palate. A generous plus is the 24 hour free cool drinks and coffee in the lobby. Also very handy is the free use of washers and dryers (cheap JPY500 for detergent), though there are only 2 of each so prepare for a wait (staff thoughtfully empty and bag clothes as soon as an unattended load completes to minimise wait time). A very happy stay.

Beyond expectation

We stayed in four different hotels in Japan and out of the 4 hotels, this is my no.1 hotel. Firstly because of the onsen and sauna it provides. 24 hour drinks is a marvellous idea. Everything is perfect. The bed is so comfortable. Highly recommend the place.

A comfy hotel close to main shopping streets

The hotel room is like any other Japanese hotel room, small. There is limited space as there is a desk, chair and bed inside the room. For the washroom, it is small as well. Nevertheless, the room indeed is comfy and homey, with a good air conditioner and good mattress. The hotel is also close to main shopping streets (around 8 minutes walk if you are fast / 10 minutes if you walk with leisure), which have a number of shops and good restaurants. You can take tram or bus and walk a bit (like 3 minutes) to the hotel. Staff at the hotel are very helpful, polite and friendly but some can't speak English (but they tried hard with the help of their computer). Breakfast is so-so, but given that it's free, it is good enough :) Anyway, it is an enjoyable stay at the hotel! I recommend all of you (if you don't mind walking a bit) to stay in this hotel

Overall a nice hotel. Lobby was up one floor in a lift after walking through a bike stand, but staff were friendly. It was a good sized room, bigger than other hotels we had stayed in whilst in Japan. It was near the Memorial Park. Only downside was that the food selection wasn't great for breakfast - it was quite limited. But on the plus side you could go to the lounge and help yourself to drinks for free throughout your stay.

Window against the wall with no view or air!

The front desk agent gave us a room facing a wall of the other building across. We made a request to have the room with a view, but I believe they did not care much. We couldn't stay in that room and we insisted for them to change us. It was very difficult the communication since they don't speak any English. It was very hard to communicate. The room and bed was small and the duvet is dark and it cannot tell if it was clean. The breakfast is more Japanese style and not much the westerns taste.

We stayed at this hotel one night and the service was very good. It was located quite close to the Hiroshima Memorial Park. The hotel also includes a fairly nice free breakfast and the wifi was fast. Only downside was we decided to walk to the hotel from Hiroshima station because we only had the JR rail pass and didn't want to deal with the bus system. So, we walked the 17 minutes with our luggage...my suggestion would be to pay 2000 yen and take the bus. The staff were very friendly and polite.

Had a great stay at Urbain! The place came recommended by a friend and the positive reviews held true. The room was spacious enough, with two single beds. The shower was big for Japanese standards and the room had a tv, fridge, wifi in the room and the standards stuff. It was also modern and clean. The staff were helpful and friendly and checkin and our was smooth. They also provide free brekkie which was nice and tasty. Oh and a super plus is free laundry! We made use of that and it was very much a bonus for us. Overall, had a great stay here and would recommend it to anyone.

Amazing staff and amazing add ons!

The hotel is located not too far from bus stops to go to Hiroshima Station and Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park. The buses come frequently as well. We loved the room! Everything is clean and well-maintained. The only downside is that the room is very small and the bed is also small. They provide us with everything we'll need: slippers, sleeping robes, toiletries, hair dryer, etc. The thing that we loved the most is the staff! Everyone that we met is very polite, kind, nice and professional. They let us borrow their umbrellas too. On the second day, I needed to make a call to a transportation company, but since I don't speak Japanese, I asked the receptionist to help me. He went above and beyond to help us and made sure that we were able to get what we needed. Keep up the amazing work! We'll definitely recommend your hotel to our friends!

Beware hotel has 3 different names listed. Most cab drivers DO NOT know where it is and will send you to multiple versions.
Really great hotel. Great room size. Around 15 min cab ride from shopping district and Hiroshima Station. $8-$15.
Easy access to Hiroshima Memorial and A Bomb Dome. Wouldve liked to stay longer if we had more than 1 day.

The best hotel on my trip. The room is small, but cozy. AC pumps hot and cold air. Staff is super helpful. Breakfast buffet is great, and free beverages are available 24/7 in the lounge. The hotel is fantastic. It is very well located in the city centre; art museum is within 10-15mins' walk. There are coffee and coke provided for free at lounge. There are also laundry facilities too (though I didn't use as i just stay for 3 nights). The sauna and hot-bath is also good.
Breakfast are offered for free and very yummy.
At this pricing, I cannot think of anything to complain.
If i will visit Hiroshima again, I will be glad to stay here again.

No frills but great!

This was a very inexpensive hotel but it was wonderful value for money. Rooms were tiny but very clean. Bathroom was small but had everything needed. Free wifi and a good buffet breakfast included in room rate. Freshly laundered pyjamas each day, slippers, jugs of cold water to take to rooms - they did all they could to make guests comfortable. The atmosphere was very relaxed and gentle....homely.

Not the best. Our room was dark and stuffy and the breakfast is pretty bad really. We had it the first morning then skipped for the remainder of the stay. The hotel was very busy too so it felt like a lifetime waiting for lifts whenever you needed to get downstairs. It's certainly cheap and location is great but if I had the time again I'd pay slightly more for a better quality room.

Will be back again!

Nice friendly staff who did my check-in within 10 minutes. There's also free breakfast daily from 5am to 10am. On top of that, its close to hacchobori shopping district. But not too close to be affected by the noise.

Excellent budget hotel.

While this hotel is budget it is completely full featured.
The location is good and central, you can easily walk to the station and also points of interests around Hiroshima within 15/20 minutes. If you're interested in night life this is a great location!
Facilities are well organised and clean. The breakfast included is very tasty and a lovely touch. Coffee, tea and soft drink are free flowing in the dining area. There is even bath on the lobby level which you are free to use.
Would definitely recommend this hotel as it is excellent value for money.

We enjoyed our stay, very clean room, wifi was efficient. Breakfast was simple, but is sufficient. I like your coffee bar, after a Long day out and are able to have a cup of free coffee or soft drinks. Overall , your hotel is value for money. If I ever visit Hiroshima again, I will be your guest.

Great Japanese budget hotel

Clean, basic rooms and close to the sights in Hiroshima. The rooms are small Japanese style rooms and were a bit squishy for two but the stay was nice and the price was incredible for Japan.

Good, clean simple hotel, location good for sight seeing- Easy to travel round by tram. Simple buffet breakfast and 24 hr coffee/cola in lobby! Stayed for 1 night sight-seeing

My mom and I were looking for a hotel that was relatively close to the station with a decent price. The room is clean and the laundry was a life saver!

Very good value

Our cheapest hotel in Japan but the place was clean and cosy. 15-20 mins walk from the station and with a slightly annoying lift. Given how cheap it was it's no surprise the place was packed and the free breakfast area was busy, free drinks 24hours too. You can't go wrong!
